(EDITTING JUST IN CASE: gotta resize these pics, back in a while) SO! Long time no see dakka! I'm trying to be a little more active, so just lurking is over, I guess... Now, I believe that making tutorials is one of the best ways to let people know you and your work, so here it comes! First things first - The stuff you need: -Green stuff, I normaly use Games Workshop's or The Army Painter's. -A base, here i used a 25mm one from Games Workshop. -A simple scuplting tool. -Hobby knife. -A glass of water, to avoid green stuff sticking on hands and tools. Steps to follow: -First get a piece of green stuff and make a small ball, make sure it's mixed properly. -Squeeze it a bit so it's almost the same size as the base. -Put it on top of the base... -And flatten it a bit. -Make some parallel lines with the knife, this will determinate the height of the bricks. -Now make vertical lines inside the other ones. -Give the lines some depth with the scuplting tool. -Make the corners a bit round shaped and smoothen the borders of the bricks with the round side of the sculpting tool, you can also add some marks and notches to give a deteriorated effect. -Have a break while the green stuff dries, it uses to take a few hours, but it depends on the ammount of each colour you put in the mix, the temperature, etc... -You should have something like this when it's dry. -We proceed cutting the edges, here you can see that I cutted it a bit roughly and its kind of irregular, but... -We fill with a bit of greenstuff, flatten, and our base is ready! -You can get really nice results with some imagination! -And if you mix it with time... You can make great stuff! I hope this came handy to some of you, any questions/curse or insult/love declaration just leave a reply! Oh, btw, this stuff is copied and translated from my sort of new blog, which is just in spanish by the moment, and pretty much under construction, if you feel like giving it a look it's http://cavernadearaita.blogspot.com/, I might end up doing it in english as well if someone is interested... Cheers!

Very nice. Doing some custom Cobble bases myself- I cast, though, so I can use a more forgiving material with the master blank.
I used hard carving wax- they come in sheets about the thickness of a base, so you can just cut a circle out of that and do the sculpting to it, then cast a mold from that.

Wowo, this is amazing. But what GS do you use? Because I use army painter and that would be a huge wast if I used THIS^^ much for bases, but if I can get ALOT, then I can try this!!!!!

Hey, this is amazing work on your bases. Do you have any pictures of these (or bases like it) that are painted?

Excellent tut. I use a similar method but I use a huge ball of gs, make bricks from that like your method, and cut them up into individual pieces to put on the bases.

I honestly had not realized that it could be that simple to produce a cool effect like that. The examples you have added give the tutorial additional flavor. Thanks!! This will definitely be used.
