I am a Mum of 4 and full time Carer. I also Scrapbook (my guilt free me time as I am preserving Memories).
My husband intorduced me to Warhammer a few years ago and painted a handful of Eldar, Dark Eldar, Wood Elves, Necrons.
I collected models that I thought I would like to paint when I got the time, not thinking about armies or anything (local stockist was closing so huge savings, I stocked up).
Then our house started flooding so it all got pcked away incluing the whole 12 models I had painted. Fast forward we have finally got our craft area fixed and set up, so all our Warhammer has come out, the Hubbies had his first ever game (only had 2 skirmish matches before).
So I decided to look at my Eldar and work out what to do with them. My paint sceme is not realy like any Craftworld but after reading up on various craftworlds I have chosen 2 I like and am thinking of doing a small 500 point Altansar army including a Harlequin troop and a 750 or 1000 point Altainoc army, my theory is the Harlequins can help the Altainoc and Altansar and if a bigger game is happening the Altansar can come help the Altainoc. What do you think?

I've been playing Eldar for maybe 4 years now, but since the Dark Eldar were re-released, they've taken a back seat.

Have a root around the tactics section, I'm sure you'll find something useful. I'll keep my eyes open, if you start an eldar army list thread I'll try and help out

Sounds like a great idea, its always nice to have a bit of a storey to your army and the idea of the Harlequine's and the other Craftworlds helping each other out makes for a very dynamic and sweet army.

Argh I typed a Thankyou to you all and the dam forum glitched or something and its not here.
Anyway Thankyou for you welcomes and support. I had grown dispondent with my idea due to negative critisism but reading this has bouyed me to do it.
I played my first game a few weeks back (got to turn 2 and had to pause and then we didn't get a chance to finish, but I was well in the lead YAY) 830 points Eldar verses Rogue Traders.
When I find my list I will post it.
Now to find the time to work on my lists for my theme above.

I have work out my army lists I think.
K So min points I will be playing is 1000 as the local group wont go smaller.
Firstly a question can a squad of 9 garudians plus heavy weapons platform with 2 crew and a warlock (total 12 models) be mounted on a wave serpent?

Here are my 1000 points lists
Altansar
HQ Maugan Ra
Troop
Jetbike squad with 6 bikes 2 with shuriken cannon accompanied by a warlock with conceal and a singing spear
if the above is allowed then a squad of gaurdians including weapons platform with D Cannon accompanied by a warlock with conceal and singing spear mounted on wave serpent with spirit stones and brithlance
Heavy Support
Dark Reaper x5 including Exarch with missile launcher (Krak), crack shot and fast attack
Total 963 may throw in a extra jetbike or dark reaper for points.

Alaitoc
HQ Autarch on Jetbike with Mandiblasters, Fusion Gun and Powerweapon
Troops
7 Dire Avengers including Exarch with diresword and shuriken pistol, defend and bladestorm
3 Wraithgaurd with Warlock with Spirit seer, Enhance and sining spear
2 ssquads of 5 pathfinders
Heavy Support
War Walker squad of 3 each with spirit stones and brigtlance
Elites
Fire dragons 6 including Exarch with crack shot and tank hunters and firepike

Feedback is much appreciated as I am a newb. I have kept to the fluff that i have read.
In total I have a 2k point Altansar and 3k plus Alaitoc point army think its more like 3500 haven't finished the list yet.

Welcome to Dakka. I love Harlequins, they are the fanciful and mysterious Eldar that show up for battles wether or not they were actually invited.

Feedback on further Eldar subjects, and lists, and tactics are best asked for in the Warhammer 40k portion of these forums, where Space Marine, non Eldar focused players will share such advice as "Swooping Hawks are absolutely useless" and "the only way to play Eldar is full mechanized."

Such limited imaginations they have.

I look forward to more Eldar discussion.

No a Heavy Support Heavy Weapons platform with a 2 man Squad can not be mounted in a Wave Serpent.

It is much too large.

The support weapons platform that comes with a Troops Guardian squad goes into a Wave Serpent yes.

I can see how there could be some initial confusion.

Also the Heavy Support weapons batteries may not move and shoot. Whereas a Guardian Troop squad can fire their weapons platform after moving.

I wonder which platform I have, maybe both. I got the older gaurdians box I can't remeber if it has the weapon platform in it, I know I have the blister one also.
Oh well, I can double check in the morning.
I have a troupe of Harlies that will be a add on for either list when I am playing a bigger match. I just posted the 1000pts armies first.

Final 2000pts Altansar is as above (of course I need to adjust the weapons platform)
plus a extra troop of 3 Wraithgaurd with spiritseer with conceal and singing spear.

The Dark Reapers plus extra heavy Support of a Wraithlord with wraithsword & brightlance
and a Fire Prism with spirit stones, holofields and shuriken cannon

Elite Harlequin Troup of 10 models including death jester with shrieken cannon, troup master with powerweapon ad shadowseer. 2 harlies ugraded wo fusion postols and 5 with kiss.

Fast Attack Warp Spider x 8 including Exarch with death spinner, surprise assaul and withdraw

1 Vyper wtih spirit stones and missile launcher (krak)
Total 1995points.

I had made a post about my combined army idea on one of the other areas and got negative critism, that combined with the local guys critism had made me doubt my idea so I hadn't moved on it.
Then I read the replies on here the other day and got my inspiration back and started reading more of the fluff again and planning. (sleep deprived as I am lol).
I will post my lists on there but wanted to let those that liked the idea see what I had come up with.

Dam I missed the points for the farseer and locks so total of alaitoc is 2746 and with harlies and dark reapers is 3195.
so my 2 armies combined will be 4741.
So for the 5k battles that are the norm in my area I will need to add a little lol.
