A Chinese nickname for Japanese is 'dwarf barbarian pirates' so I vote for Space Dwarf Pirate Ninja Barbarians! That way they can get a piece of that Legend of Voltron money.

Anyone got an idea as to what sort of footwear we're looking at there?

looks pre-modern. some kind of medieval boot or perhaps some sort of protective foot covering.

Possibly Shaolin booties? Or lighter Han infantry?

The polearm blades are a bit naff, way too large even for heroic imo. Luckily I don't have a community to pick up Warmaster with otherwise it's be some damage to the bank account!

It's been a few weeks since the latest update. Isn't it time to get more news? We've only been showed 3 out of 10 sprues at this point.

Latest sneak peek looks like Eisenkern Valkir legs, but the weapons are different to the old sets. Could be a re-imagining, or a death-fields set which has similar armour.

Saw this on Facebook. It was part of the Friday email.

I probably wont use the armor on the horses. The fully armored rider head in the middle looks a bit small in the pic, but hope its just the angle. Was hoping the doggo would be a little bit bigger. But overall I like em.

Ooh, the doggo looks good!

I probably won't use the armor bits on my Conquistadors since apparently they only have gambesons. Would look weird to have squishy riders on barded steeds.

If you get the Heavy Cavalry box it has armored torsos... 16 to a box vs the 12 gambeson torsos to a box in the Conquistador box.

I preordered 2 boxes... Hopefully I can get 1 of each with that... and then a horse sprue purchase from @McDougals means 28 horseman.

Ideally conquistadores should have a mix of breastplates and gambesons... they were recorded as preferring only padded armour once they made it to Central and South America though. Too hot for steel.

Agreed; the foot versions are mixed. But it is what it is and I need to sculpt some cuirasses.

the 2 conquistador sets from the WGA news letter

both sets will be built on top of our Medium Horses frame. You will receive four of these in each box (don't use the saddle blankets though!)

We also have a shared frame that gives you the saddles (that are designed to fit on the horses bare backs) along with all the heads, shields, scabbarded swords, and the doggos! You'll also get four of these in each set. Yes, that's a LOT of doggos!

And now is where the sets differ. First we have WAARN003 Conquistador Cavalry. These are soldiers in lighter armor with a mix of sword and lance (and you can build all models with all of either). You will get four of these frames in the box

OR

And then finally we have the main frame for WAARN006 Renaissance Heavy Cavalry. This is a full frame that includes horse armor, both matchlock and wheelock pistols (even a left handed one), and enough swords and lances to outfit everyone. There are also holstered pistols and enough weapons to outfit every figure in the set with one type. You'll notice there are four bodies on this frame. We gave you an extra one to create a slightly more "fancy" ruffle collared type if you so wish. This is a 12-figure set but adding in some of our Medium Horses will get you 16!

....so the best choice looks to be a box of each, and an extra horse frame

I got an email asking me to choose my 2 sets. There is a note that says the Heavy cavalry set is $5 more than the conquistador set but there is no extra charge if you preordered. I went with 2 heavy cav boxes as the value of what you get is just so much more.

Hmm. With 1 left handed pistol per sprue that means 4 to box. So with 2 boxes you could have a 8 pistoliers. With command you could have 7 and have a banner a musician and a champion for 10 total without too much effort.

With 2 heavy cavalry boxes I will have 24 cavalry guys and 8 extra rider bodies... so with 2 horse sprues it would make 32 cav... though the extra 8 would not have the saddles the others have (since you only get 12 to a box) and they wont have armor or armored heads since you only get 12 of each of those to a box as well.

Ruffle neck body will probably make a good champion base. I wonder how much the dog/saddle sprue will be as individual sprues... As I will probably want some more of the new heads.

I decided to go for the heavy cav since it both kits have the same heads (and because I didn't realize until after I made my choice that I won't get the $5 upcharge since I was an original backer).

I really hope warring states is next. The 3D renders they showed a while back looked great, and it's not a period you see a lot of miniature lines for.

I suspect there's more than a few fans like me that fell in love with the period by wasting way too much time in Dynasty Warriors and reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Zombicide: White Death is nearing delivery and I'm excited to get many of those heroes in suitably heroic-fantasy poses, but I'd really love some regular chinese infantry to make armies out of

Back when everyone thought Cathay was coming in the Old World. i had thoughts of getting some Warring states minis. But now... I may get a box for use in RPGS...

...of the items on that list i am most hoping for Halfling Cavalry. Having a full halfling army in WA halfling style would be great.

I still really want the Warring States guys, since it's so hard to find modular feudal Chinese models.

Of those on the list. I dont think there have been many previews for most... but here is one of the Warring States Infantry and the Halfling Cavalry. I thought there was one for the Germanic army builder but I cant find it.

How long from Tooling to release has it been lately? I'm just waiting for Baron's War Levy.

The News and Rumors section is all about surprises. I'd certainly hate it if we got 100 posts saying "I know something you don't know..." - malfred

It's up!

Exactly the contents I wanted (1 each of the 4 national sprues, 2 upgrade sprues)

It feels a bit on the expensive side to me for some reason but it's really not marked up at all, Forbidden Psalm books are priced pretty high for how niche they are. 10/10 recommended, only reason I'm not getting it is I already have all 4 national boxes and the book

Think it depends on the set but Andy mentioned on the Barons War FB group last week that there should be some news very soon.
