Here's the latest creation off the slow Ork production line. I'm doing a Speed Freeks army, I'm going for a Mad Max type theme. All my units have Trukk's personalised to the unit, I'm a big fan of WISIWIG.
The Trukk Cab I've scratched from Plasticard and bits from the Trukk Kit. The Gunner I've added the bullet casing being ejected and the muzzle flash. On the back I've added a Fuel drum for the Burna's and a Grot Fueler! The Boyz have all got Flames from Armorcast's Cinematic effects range. I've still got 1 Boy to finish and 3 Meks to complete the Squad.
For Painting I'm using GW paints and MIG weathering powders. Questions or comments welcome........

Very nicely done - with lots of character too!
The paint jobs remind me a bit of 2nd edition, and coming from me, that's a compliment!

Lovely work. I love the fire effects and the Grot standing of the Burna's fuel tank is just too cool. I can't wait to see more.

Models look great, especially the customization to the trukk.
I want to mix some of those muzzle flash cinematic effects into my ork army as well.
So your not playing current edition/codex with these guys?

I thought this was one of the Forgeworld trukk variants.
It looks excellent.
I like the weathering in particular. Any tips?
Also, did you spray varnish it to set it?

Excellent work! The flame bits really add to the models. The paintjobs are also really bright and stand out, I like 'em.

Thanks for the +ve comments so far, I’ll answer the points in order.
2nd Edition Paint Scheme – Been doing this hobby for ages now and still remember the good old ‘clan’ days. Was hoping they’d bring these back in the new codex but it was not to be. The idea of a warhost of Orks charging along at breakneck speeds appeals to me, as does the idea of ‘Red ones go fasta’.
2nd Edition Rules - ???? I’ve no codex with me and I’m painting these in a small building near a airbase as I’m currently posted in the Eastern region of the world. I’m going for a squad of 9 Burnaz and 3 Meks. Is that not allowed in the new codex?
Cinematic Effects – I fell in love with these when I first learned about them. I’ve seen a SM army and every weapon had the muzzle flashes and it looked wrong. So in my squads, maybe 20% will have muzzle flashes, but all the Burnaz would be lit. So I’ve made sure not all are gouging out sheets of flame, and some are just on standbye. The only problem I had was that the flame is metal, and the weight tipped the model over. So I’ve had to alter the bases with bits of debris sticking off it, so the model stands off the base, to counter balance the weight of the flame hanging off the other side of the base.
Weathering – None of my models are varnished as yet. When I was in Hong Kong I bought some Tamiya Matt Varnish and by far, this was the best varnish I’ve ever used, so much so, I won’t use anything else. Unfortunately, its only sold in Aisia. So I’m planning a trip back to Hong Kong next year, when I’ll sock up on a dozen cans to bring back home with me.
I’ve done a heavy dry / wet brush of 2 types of sand powder, then gone back and feathered it out with just spirits once its dried. I’ve then done the black oil / exhaust, and finally 2 types of rust.

9 burnas and 3 meks are allowed. you can take 5-15 burnas and upgrade 3 of them to meks

Yea they cant purchase a trukk, but nothing stops you from buying a trukk for another squad, and not putting said squad into the trukk. That frees it up for the burnas to hop in it
Very colorful and pretty damn nice. I like non grim dark Orks, as far as colors goes.

These look great, love the weathering and the flames on the burnas. One slight niggle though, is the flame coming out of the gun on the truck straight? Looks a little out of line but that might be the angle of the picture.
