Bad things come in small packages

Besides, he is a head taller than a space marine, and the other models in Zombicide are smaller and actually realistically scaled rather than heroic

Some more Zombicide stuff!

Started painting up one of the trays of zombies! Gone with 3 different skin tones so far; green, blue and purple. If anyone has a fourth colour that would look good for zombie skin, let me know

Anyway; the horde so far:

The green team have had the top coat of sepia added to their "flesh" while the purples and blues have just had their base colours washed on.

Green fatty "Buuuuuurgerrrrrsssssss.....":

It is almost like some kind of dance off is about to take place...

And my abomination from above posts with base colour coded to the threat level:

Good luck with getting through that lot...I'm half-dreading the painting of these, I know it's going to have to be batch painting at some point

How about some sepia washes for the fourth skin tone?
And are you going to vary the skin tones between trays?

I was thinking "pure" sepia might be a possible fourth colour, but I was not sure

I have 3 trays of zombies and the above is just one tray :(

I was going to paint up a line of each colour zombie for each tray - to be honest I can't really think of anything more than 3-4 zombie skin colours

The only thing that I will try to vary is the clothing colours and combinations.

The reason I have laid them out like that is so that I can go top to bottom with skin colour, then side to side with clothes colours. By randomising the order of the zombies I should hopefully end up with a nice mix of "like" models with different skin tones and different clothing colours.

I was also planning on painting the bases depending on zombie type - my wife and I have found it kind of difficult to tell what is what when shifting around huge mounds of zombies on the board

Planning on blue for walkers, yellow for runners, orange for fatties and as shown, red for abominations (though I was thinking of repainting his base white then washing and inking red so it looks more like blood ).

Yeah I noticed you'd colour coded the abomination's base, I'm thinking I might do the same with the rims. I've not come up with a plan on how to paint them en-masse yet, just playing with one row for now Using washes for most of them with a bit of paint here and there. You could get some variation to the skin tones by basing in deneb stone and rotting flesh (or whatever they ae now) as well as white.

Yeah, I might just paint the rims in the colour coded shades as it is a bit too much of a big blob of colour that it overwhelms everything else

As for the skin tones... I think that might be a bit too subtle for what I was going for - I plan to use reasonably cartoony colours as I feel it fits the kind of flavour of the game and sculpts. Plus it means more painting, which I don't like anyway, and certainly not when I have a million zombies to paint

I will almost certainly go with a plain sepia as my fourth colour, unless you can think of anything else.

But I certainly recommend doing a tray at a time - as I say, being able to have rows made from 4 random model types means you get a lot of colour variation in your base clothing colours without so much repeating; I find it hard to be deliberately random with my colours when just painting things one after another; by blocking things to paint all the same colour it makes it much easier as you only have 8 blocks to vary, rather than doing each model as an individual.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Started blocking in some colours now - you might be able to see my system; 2 rows with the same colour, the first on the bottom half, the second on the top half (where practical) - you can also see how "quick" it is too (well, you would be able to if it did not append my post about an hour or so to finish off the skin and block out one colour on all but 8 of the zombies)

Yup. Some more colours and details will be added with paint, but I love painting mostly with washes

No updates in here for a while, would love to see some more progress pics on your Infinity terrain and Nomad models...what Ive seen so far is really nice. Also, did you finish painting your Zombicide? Sorry if I resurrected an abandoned P&M thread...if there is a newer one can you point me too it?

Thanks for the post

I actually have some time off over Christmas so I might have some time to do some painting!

The only Infinity model I have painted since the last update was finishing off a Zero.

However, I have a lot of WIP's - about 50 Eldar Guardians, 30 true scale Space Marines and I have also started assembling a baneblade I bought abouta year ago (and also started converting it so it can be a stormlord as well).

As to the Zombicide - I have not completed painting everything yet - it did not get much more advanced than the last pictures unfortunately! I may paint them a little more as I will be playing a few games of Zombicide over Christmas.

Finished Nomad Zero:

Quite happy how well this one came out

WIP Intruders:

Brenda de Castro:

Converting him to a female - got to change his face a bit and widen the hips. Will also be sanding down the boobs to a smaller size when they are fully cured as they are a bit big at the moment

The whole group:

Got 3 Intruders, 2 Prowlers, 2 Zeros, 2 Spekters, a Reverend Costodier and Brenda de Castro

If anyone in the Staffordshire area of the UK wants a game, let me know. I would love to actually use these models

A WIP of my Eldar tanks. Still drying hence they look a bit more patchy than they will when dry

Decided to push getting these painted so I can finally sell them off as an army.

The zero came out great! I love the basing. You've got a nice little Nomads crew going on there now. I have yet to get paint on a single one of mine...though I only have the Nomads Starter Pack and a half dozen other models or so. Really I've only cleaned and assembled my HMG intruder and a couple of the Aguacils :/

Your Zombicide is much further along than mine too...I have base coats on half of the survivors, and that's about it. Too many projects....ok, back to Necromunda terrain...

Nice job on the zero Silver

Is that some kind of giant eldar Aegis line you're making with the Falcons

On a selfish note, glad you've not finished your zombies up, I'm no further with mine either

Ok, not really done much painting recently but I did do some more work on my Eldar before Christmas.

Continued work on 40 Guardians - the front 10 have their blue eyes and gems done, the rest all have their orange and black blocked out (the black shoulder pads and knee pads are different for each squad). Need their guns doing gray, then detailing, then a universal wash.

My Falcons have been sprayed with unit markings (I have one left to do). Shine is from the gloss varnish protecting the orange from the tape combined with the flash - it should hopefully go with a matt coat later on.

I've found your thread! Yeah, I'm a little slow sometimes :S

I am going to read through this properly after work but can I just say I really like your Nomad Zero - the paint job and basing reminds me of the old 1990's style White Dwarf minis!
Good luck with your mass painting - you are going to feel very smug once those zeds are all done and swarming nicely

Thanks Ragsta

I played with my Zombicide zombies over Christmas so they are all packed away at the moment.

Been working on my Guardians a little bit at a time. Finally finished a squad!

Moving house and so on meant I didn't have my camera with me for most of the first half of the year to capture my (very slow) progress on my Eldar.

Almost all the guardians are almost finished (the 40 featured in the images below need basing and a couple of extra bits of colour on the cloth ties, runes, etc that some of them have and then they are done), with just a handful needing painting to start (support weapons and crews etc and a couple of misc guardians who didn't make the cut into the 5 main squads ).

I also retouched my Banshees (annoyed to hear they are apparently not that awesome still, but eh, I think they are great models so I will field them if I ever play my Eldar army ).

Continued the very slow progress on the Fire Dragons. How could it have taken me this long to half paint just 5 guys?!?

Sorry about the sideways picture - not sure why my phone uploads them like that...

However, my first WIP's of a terrain puck gun emplacement:

A small mound made from broken up packaging, pinned with cocktail sticks and covered with PVA and tissue paper. More cocktail sticks poked through to form spikes. Some resin pour gates to form anti-tank style dragons teeth. A bit of MDF spure from some laser cut terrain, along with some injection moulding inlets from model bases to form a telegraph pole.

Once it is dry I will add some sand to the mound, add broken wires to the telegraph pole and mount the gun on the ring. I hope it can be entered into both Briancj's contest and also the -=]_=- terrain contest

Well, after experimenting on some of the Reaper Bones models that I didn't really mind destroying () I have primed most of my standard sized figures (overall grey prime, then a white prime from above - going for my usual painting with washes, so this should give some extra shading on most figures ).

I love the mimic and it was the first model I took aside to get some paint on it - just need to paint the base purple to show the "flesh" lifting the rest of the creature forward to attack.

Perhaps my favorite model of the range is the chap on the left.

I don't know what has happened to me - two updates in two days?!?

Anyway, did a little more painting on my first batch of models:

Because mages need protection (the guy on the right I think I will repaint his butt cape as it looks too close in colour to his armour (somehow ):

It hasn't quite come out in this picture, but the colour on the dragon head actually looks really impressive

And because I like this model, another shot - unfortunately again the colours have not quite come through - the blue on the staff is an ink so it is glossy like a gemstone and not as flat as pictured:

Still plenty to do - this first group has about 10-15 models in it... I think from now on I will only do 5-10 at once as it is a little overwhelming with this many to do at once - also think I will use some of my air brush paint for the armour/silver as my old GW chainmail is behaving a little bit strangely...

Cheers

Yeah, there are a few models in the range which would be good for practicing various things on. Plenty of cloaks for practicing freehand, certainly!

The good thing is there is a real mix of races/creatures too, so you get a little of everything.

Sorry if I missed it in previous pages, but what did you use for primer on the Bones? I'm having a hard time getting paints to stick and I've read spray primers have been hit or miss when used on Bones.

Thanks,
