So for trolls... Should I do similar skin tone to my orcs, or go with something Stone/grey?

Stone/grey might work better, they are a different species after all.

the more limited armor will make them stand out, so rather than going with a different skin tone, I'd think a bit more about an extra highlight or wash on the trolls. They'll stand out with their size, and painting them stone/grey makes them look more like elementals or something boring.

If anything, i'd go a different direction with the armor. I did mine with a quick rust on the armor which I think gave a good contrast to green skin, and makes them look more feral:

Rust is a must. Can't imagine trolls are into polishing.

I'm not sure about stone/grey for the Mantic trolls.. I'd prbably go for a light brown, though Polonius' heavily-rusted look really works for greenish trolls and provides a nice contrast.

I've "finished" my Undead for the month, by painting these two models - which in turn completes a unit. The unit would have been finished around October-November last year, except GW semi-screwed up my order and then their CSR were a nightmare to get through to for literally months. Eventually a guy fixed it for me, but it took way too bloody long. Anyway, these two allow me to complete a unit, which I'll get up properly tonight or tomorrow.

Officially the models are Castellans of Dol Guldor, but in Kings of War I'll be using them and their attached unit as Soul Reaver (Vampiric) infantry. I think they work well as Medieval-Fantasy Vampiric types who will drain your soul rather than just your blood. Not all vampires have to be 19th century aristocrats, after all....

Unrelated to the paint challenge, I'm looking for feedback on my Minotaurs Space Marines.

Greenshade or not? (the one on our right has some subtle green wash on him.)

Nice undead and minotaurs. I'm bad at colors so I will offer no advice! Look fine to me already.

I may go with a lighter green, basically an extra highlight pass. The orcs had more rust but the dip washed it away. I may go back and add some more now that two units are sealed. Troll can be even more so, or I may go back to my favorite typhus/ryza.

Been working on scenery so far this month but I fully intend to work on the orcs soon.

The one on the right looks much better. I wouldn't go any heavier on the green however.

I dig the one on the right with the green. It's subtle but it's different and it's helping the paintjob.

I figured I'd just post up my stretch goals for fun. The Angel swarm is all primed and I will at least get an Angel done, the rest will be the stretch goal. That would end up being 3 units in total

Nice Angel conversion! Simple yet so much more dramatic than the stock stance.
My first Angel is stock stance and my second is modified but I may have gone a bit overboard with it and now require me to upgrade my green stuff skills to revive him

Here is my February submission. Nova and 2 Shadow Walkers AND a Troopers Unit. (troopers may have been finished in January... please dont dock me points )

And a nice group photo of my finished so far Maelstrom's Edge Karists

Nice work on the Karists. The metallic purple suits them well.

I also like the posing on those Angels. I'm not personally fond of the model, but you guys have managed to make them look a lot better than the stock kit. TP^DC - are those Angels both the same kit? The right hand one looks significantly larger, but they both seem to be about the same distance from the camera....

Here's the next stuff I'm working on:

The two archers will allow me to complete the troop of archers that can be seen behind them. The sword & board guys will be their own self-contained unit and give me two Gondor for the month, and the ballista will serve as a second undead unit for the month. If I get it finished. All of the paint on those aside from the black spray undercoat on the Gondor was done today as well. So not too bad.

They are the same size, but the second is on a much higher base, hence perspective making it look bigger

Lots more lovely stuff here!

I am getting on with my old-school Ork Dread, most of the base colours are on - Not sure what the original owner used to glue it together, but there are some really rough bits near the joins!

Like when I painted my first one, I am not really enjoying the experience and it doesn't look too great, but a nice heavy wash should bring out the best in it

I never fail being impressed with people who can paint samurai! Very nice!

,The amount of detail and variety of colors needed to do them justice always is far too daunting of task for me.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Got a zombie troll shaman done today, hopefully more get done tomorrow. It'll be quicker to get the zombies done now since there's only clothes left.

It is sort of hard to tell what exactly they are, isn't it? They're Covenant of Antarctica Skorpios Heavy Bombards from Dystopian Wars. The Covenant uses mostly mecha instead of the landships favored by other factions. The Skorpios is a spider mech that uses the same frame as the Atticus class Medium Walker. The Skorpios is referred to as a tank-hunter, but seems to actually be more of a fire support unit.

I got my first stretch goal done. This is Morticia Blackwing from Burrows and Badgers. She's a Noctule Bat and, since she's pretty well in scale with everyone else, that means she's damn tiny.

Progress! 8 Corsairs painted. These guys will be used as Bandits in various D'n'D games and as Thugs in Dungeon Saga.

Tried a white background again, but due to my lighting set up it seems to have washed them out a bit. Must fix the set up!
