I'd imagine the historical work will stand you in good stead. More realism translates into fantasy nicely... it's the other direction where things don't always move as cleanly.

I don't know!

The tankbusta is looking great man! Very good! Is it going to have a wash? Still love him!

Yep, once he get's the basic colors down... then we'll be doing some dry-brushing... maybe even a little (limited) edge highlighting... then the washes.

OR...

We'll work on one part of the fig at a time until it's done, then we'll move on to the next... we'll see how it goes.

THIS is a good example of something Ifalna does that she doesn't get paid for... decorating the shipping box!

Which delivered... among other things... this!

I'm a very happy orky daddy...

Yep. I'm not the least bit protective of my orks. Some I've painted myself, some I've gotten off e-bay, some get sent to Iffy. With all the marine, nid and necron work I've had to do lately, it's the only way I make any progress on them.

I am glad to be a part of this Orky madness, Gits has the best Orks. Half the stuff he sends I have never ever seen before and end up sitting laughing at for hours.

Fantastic.

Nice work Iffy!

Gits, I've always liked that figure. I may have to look into getting one somewhere. Hmmm. ... Then I'd need to get a FightaBomba too I think.

Just to prove I have been working on my orks as promised... second grot tank is coming into focus. Might finish it up this weekend.

Your Grot tank is a nice homage to Metal Slug. It looks very nice.

You know, it's funny that from this angle the tank commander just looks like a green blob. He's actually decently painted... though you'd never know it from this shot.

tipios wrote:That second grot tank looks very tasty!! No glowing parts?

You know tipios... I don't think so. I mean I'm nowhere near done with the tank... but looking it over there isn't much that could be construed as "glowing" in the model. Perhaps I'll add something... we'll see.

Maniac_nmt wrote:Your Grot tank is a nice homage to Metal Slug. It looks very nice.

Thanks Maniac_nmt. I can't take credit for the model, that's Forge World... just the paint job.

Very nice, Gitsplitta. I always feel like I learn something new when I look at your models. Speaking of which, how did you get that nice reddish bronze on the exhaust pipe?

You could add some glow to the missiles, make them kind of radioactive and unstable...

Dying's the easy way out. You won't catch me dying. They'll have to kill me before I die!

If I recall correctly... black, heavy tin bitz dry brush, lighter dwarf bronze dry brush, delvan miracle wash.

Very interesting idea there toebeard... I'll have to consider that. Some unstable nuclear material tossed in with my grots might be amusing & foment some entertaining fluff!

Getting close to being finished with the basic paint job. After this is decals (because I'm lazy) and weathering.

Nope... got no problem using decals on my orks, especially them fancy Forge World decals. No point in killing myself over nothing.
