Yeah my own min-tank is shaped out to be pretty much a WW-II era 3 man light in size, Had I expanded the front where the driver will have a 3 are view, I might have made it a small medium, LOL!

Problem with assembly-line painting is intermediate WIPs suck. I mean: I got 11 pair of blue pants painted this morning, in 4 different shades for some un-uniformity sake.I've started with the lining's red basecoat now. And there's nothing worthy of a pic in that !
To try out the light box anyway, I took new pictures of the Guardsmen painted at the beginning of the year:
(Almost straight from the camera, just auto-corrected the white balance)
And previous "best" shots:
Guess the construct helps.
Break's over, back to the line!
Cheers.

Batch painting might be efficient, but the Modern Times reminiscences started to get to me today: time to catch a break then.
Way behind in figuring somethingout for the ongoing LoER Comp, started some trial on a wanna-be energy fencing.
One of the Cubs had "rescued" this for me from a party last weekend:
Liked the potential, took it apart and piped the strands in for a tighter beam look:
Thinking it could work, I doubled-up the stakes: added a second LED on the opposite end for a more balanced effect, and reworked the powering and wiring to a less ramshackle temporary setup:
Of course it's yet only a very crude idea, but as far as concepts go, I don't dislike it. It's going to need some actual terrain around it, though...
Not much else for now (I did paint some too, but it would still be more of the same...)
Cheers

Do you only have the one?
It looks brilliant, and great idea. If you have spare Might I suggest very gently roughing up the surface of the Fibreoptic threads. they are designed to "beam light along there length, the fibres in them are all laid lengthways. However if you mess with the smooth surface of the threads it should give off a more even light along its length. If that is what you want mind you.
If you only have the one bit, Maybe make it the "gate" in the fence with one section being a generator.
I love the idea and knowing you it will look stunning in the end with terrain around it. As always looking forwad to your work.
Light box is looking effective, though I have found the same old rules apply, ie a darker background for darker models. For instance my one came with a dark blue, black and a white cloth backgrounds, just to run as base and back, leaving sides and top exposed for light to get to model. I am no photo expert and still mess it up, can never get the colours to come out right, so maybe someone with a bit better idea can help here.

I have some LEDs and other electronic bobs and bits, RL surpluses , so some other experiments can be done if requiered... And replicating too, if they work out. The strands themselves are something else - I don't have a use for those - , but that thing was a party toy after all, should be easy/cheap to get some more if needed. I tried - not to much avail - cutting the threads at different lengths before stuffing them into the tube, the effect was negligible. Will try out the sanding instead, it will surely work better I picked up two poster boards for backdrops - the pictured light grey and a black one - I was too lazy to switch them for that pic, though I should have (It was mostly an I'm still around shot). I'll seriously try it out when I finish painting the present lot, or at least, achieve a picture-worthy advance !

Good work on the commission models.
That fibre optic thing (good training of your cubs there too) shows a lot of promise.

Absolutely. I've got a whole crew of junk collectors, sorry, treasure hunters, enabling me here! This one was a really good catch
With hobby time at a premium this last few days, only managed to put a few minutes on the workbench now and them, managed at least to do the (custom resin) bases to go with the Gang:

Interesting. Is EL wire ( no, no es THE wire, sino el alambre ElectroLuminiscente.) available in Argentina?
Treasure hunters... good. It's not junk if it has a use, eh?
Nice bases. I've never been a fan of the over-decorated base. Those are just right.

@shasolenzabi: Thanks! Those are for a Delaque crew I'm painting on a sort-of commission. Test model is a bit further up; the rest are in process (Line painting does not make a good WIP pictures subject)
@Cam: Thank you! Tried to go with the casts, and keep them "quiet" not to clash with the figs. Only took it a bt further with the spill (modelled on the base), it came out brighter at first, I washed it down to subdue it some more.
@Red H: I swear to Gork and Mork (sorry, still behind in catching up with the Infinity fluff ) that I'd NOT even knew the stuff existed until last week, much less know how it was called.
I was doing some research on the matter (sanding/scratching the fiberoptics to diffuse the light does not work, BTW), went for neon strips, and came up with this. Even funnier - as I live in a rather hobby-wise backwater place - I happened to find a supplier a 15 minute ride away. Turned out, the guy imports straight from China and distributes all over the country: he had never sold any locally.
Ramblings apart, very crude WIP:
Needs detail work and some extra supports to keep the lines taut.
Innards and close-ups:
And throwing the switch on:
(Workspace lights off for these last shots, poor thing can't outshine the bench lights )
Still on the first tries here, but I think I has some potential (the material, not necessarily the fence )
That's all for now.
Thanks for stopping by.

Looking brilliant dude, loving the fence, funny you having a seller just down the road like that, can't get nuffin, but a fibre-optic wholesaler 50 yards down the road.
Not sure, if I actually like the "wavey" beams, or would prefer straightened, the wavey ones remind me of Ghostbusters "guns". Extreme POWER! Kind of like that a lot the more I look at them.

Ah, so you meant you wanted to see the actual - and painted! - minis on them, then? Working on it! I hope to finish all but the skin base coats on the whole crew today, maybe a bit more if lucky and I don't have to taxi the Cubs around much...

Indeed: first time I saw an actual "modellers" styrene tube was when I got your package, acrylic paints have not been heard of yet, and only historical kits - and not that many at that - are available. And then I get this around the corner. Go figure.
They are (hopefully ) getting straightened up (as much as I love Ghostbusters, I'd say beams don't wave!). Columns bent inwards when I drew on the wire/beams - seems the physics of horizontal pulls and leverage apply even to model making - so I'll be adding extra supports to hold them up.
As a master builder I know said a while back, though, Sundays are for painting mins , so that will wait a bit, and I'll keep bouncing between projects some more...
Cheers.

Do like the fence. Needs space marine pieces/chunks/gobbets at the base though. Space Marines are dumb enough to try and run through a laser fence. "It's just light. It can't hurt us." Dumber than a sack of gravel, that lot.

Thanks! I just hope I can live up to it now !
Cubs now well how to keep me happy, and distracted. Specially distracted
EL wire: just starting to play around with it, but liking it so far (barring some difficulties in tightening it for the fence, but that's a design/build issue, not imputable to the wire itself). Easy to work with, cabling is quite simple too. The power pack is a little big for the present purposes, will need an accessory building (power gen?) to conceal it in.

That cranked a laugh! Yes, I was maybe thinking about some severed Tyranid bits - a la keeping the bugs out -, a charred line on the ground, or a small tree/bush chopped sideways by the beams, but some SM bits... tempting.
Reworked the wires on the fence a bit, straightened them up a bit, but not 100% sold on them yet (Now that the columns hold, the base bent in ). We'll see...
And going along with the Sunday painting rule (not much to show, but tired of writing there's not much to show, and wanting to actually show something getting done ):

That fence is awesome!! Really impressive stuff and a great effect!! Go to say I quite like the slightly wavy lines of energy.. reminds me that the energy source might flicker and pulse a little bit and result in the wavy lines... still.. would want to keep your hands away from it that's sure!!
