and well when you get these icons... I suggest using some dark arts to multiply these high valuable items for your army... you will need them in great numbers I think

hmmm....
I am not that thrilled by the use of orky legs... maybe if you could use the method of repositioned ork legs it would look fitting?
and it depends on what you further do to the plasma arm that the arm will look good... atm it looks kinda weird...
hope I wasn´t too harsh on you now

Actually I'm king of on the same page as you with regards to the plasma arm, but had decided that was all right anyway. Need something bigger and bulkier right?
The head is most likely going to change as well, I have ordered some "Jotun" heads from hasslefree, which I hope will be just right for this. The body and legs are not that easy to work with as they are in a fixed position - so options are not great. I'm pretty confident the final look will be quite good though, the paintjob will take away the last bit of orkyness.

No I wont be to harsh but I do agree this does not reflect your earlier work, this seems a little unbalanced and clumsy to be honest.
The head does not work at all for me ( sorry but never been a fan of the bobble head look ) the only way I can see this working would be to extend the ork legs to give more hight.
I kind of see what Vik means by the over stretched arm look, it's not that bad but maybe add a piston between the upper and lower arm as support.

Bugger - just ran of clenex.
Nope - no more work on the gun arm, already decided it will be completely redone. I think I have a devastator plasmacannon that can be reworked into some thing much more appropriate. I kind of went down this road as I wanted something build into the arm rather than on to the arm. Revisited though, and I think you'll like what it will become instead. Actually rather nice that you guys state your mind, as I had initial doubts my self, but somehow managed to convince my self that it was good enough.
The head does look rather comical, it's not perfect in IRL either but actually not half as bad as it looks in the pic. As I mentioned I have ordered some new heads, that I hope will fit better and also add to the overall look of fabricated servitor as well as make the unit look "the same" regardless of the individuality I want to create in the minis.

that should help you with those legs...they do have potential... and also... if you are able to raise the legs then the ratio between torso and legs and head would be more fitting... and... my trouble with the plasma arm is that it has little to no technological...er...logic... it is too prostetic looking for a gun to functioning... (my language skills today are crap...) i think mechanic limbs and then attachments of guns is the way to go... you have done so already way better...

You were saying how your menials don't tie in with the rest of your army.. If I were you, I'd put a red/white cog pattern around the edge of their robe things, just as a bit of a hint, and obviously to include the main colours ;D

The head is still very much undecided - I still hope the Jotun head will be just what I'm looking for with regards to both size and look. The sticky out bit on the torso has nothing to do with the head or neck, but is some gubbins (in lack for a better word) that has some unknown tecki meaning.
With regards to the menials and red, I have pretty much decided to leave them as is. The idea behind is they are so low on the mechanicus foodchain, they are simply not worthy of wearing red.
Perhaps the Assault engine looks somewhat rough now and I can see why you call it a bit orky, though I never saw it like that my self. The central part though, is not a face or head but the drivers compartment, as it is a driven engine and not a robot. I'm also pretty sure that the addition of a few mechanicus icons and the paintjob will turn it even further away from any orkyness.
last but not least, I've added a few bit to the gun here.

Now it really starting to take shape, giving a feel of how big and lumbering/menacing it will look. There going to be a servoarm somewhere in there as well, perhaps under the chainfist if I can fit it in.
Got the Jotun heads - hmm - really cool, but nowhere near the size I hoped for, they are about the size of ordinary SM heads. Well they'll go into the servitor pool instead - have loads of cool ideas for those as well - but that's a completely different story
The converted ogre head shown earlier is siply not good enough, too large and bulky - those will be reserved for the COGs I think. I have one more idea I'll try out today, see if I can make it work, and get some pictures up later. If anyone have any good ideas for slightly-larger-than-human-but-still-humanoid-heads I'll be happy to hear you suggestions.

You could look through the Ork range, also old ogryn. alternatively look at some of the WHFB monster ranges (dragon ogres)

It's not a humanoid, but how about this head
It's from the chaos defiler. I could make a nice cybernetic head if cut down, possibly a cloak over it as well.
Only other thing you might try that I could think of would be heads from a 35mm line of figs.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Believe me I've been through all the GW model at least a 100 times The defiler head is really awesome, and I have actually planned on using it on my next assault engine.
I borrowed the idea of using a slightly altered version of the DA talon mask, from Dave Taylor - and I'm in the process of adding bit to it now. The first mock-up gives a good idea about size, which is fairly good I think, the position will be lowered a bit I think - to create a more lumbering look.

That's a good head choice!
I would shave off the DE details on the bottom of the mask tho, or cover them with a gasmask/breather.

I hate to say this mate but neither head is rocking it for me really, both seem to make it look like a mutated ork rather than any thing else.
Maybe mech the head up more to deter the looks from its original incarnation, other wise it just looks like the Ogre or DE head stuck on an Ork body.
