The bent stuff is really thin stuff 0.10", it bend pretty easily, a pair of hemostats to hold it and borrow the GF's hair dryer for a few minutes to bend it into the shape I want it. Or in the case of the front fenders, glue the top, let it dry, then pill it down taught on both sides to glue.

Thanks guys! I'll wait until the casts are available to post over at Lead Adventure, that is the premier thread on available Fallout miniature products. It looks like Armorcast is getting into the Fallout Scene too now. There seems to be a lot of demand.

Absolutely awesome as per what i've come to expect from you! I will also say that I MUST have a Sarsaparilla machine when ever they get the green light :-) I can see it now on my terrain nestled near my Holo table (that's given me the gaks and i've stopped building it due to frustration!) I can't fathom how you can what appears to be, so easily translate an image or idea into actual plastic/resin/wire and have it turn out so damn good! that car is coming along beautifully and I'm just itching to see what you do next!
on a side note, I think the shopped pic of your Marauder is the nuts! I love pics like that!
Thanks Nerd! I really appreciate it man! I just try to look at basic shapes, break things down into layers in my head. Hopefully, my WIP pics show someone that they can do this stuff too!
I have to admit, I am surprised with myself too, I really like this one
And so you should like it too! it's wickedly good! :-) I may (if you don't mind of course) have to PM you and show you some pics of my Holo table and see if you can help me sort it out sometime? I'd love to use it as the idea appeals to me but my measuring and inner modeling eye are way off kilter :-)
dave.... if you go down that line even further... i think you are getting the saint status here ...seeing that Chryslus Corvega in the making makes me go from mere freind and fan to acolyte...
man that is a cool work... and i never thought this could be achieved with bended PC instead i thought IF you tried this you would resort to use lots of rods... in various shapes... but this is what really looks like you can pull it off !!! gosh... you starting to chuck out awesomenss galore just before your vacation... seems that trip about to happen is sparking your inspiration a thousandfold!!!
you catching up? pull the other one it has bells on...
by the way... the brass inner structure... just for looks or for function?
and seeing the grill in the front again... once YOU get into sculpting... there will be no stopping you... some of the things would be way quicker with GS and so on...
mxwllmdr wrote:Hey, Galorn, is this corvega castable? Or Dave, are you putting in windshields? SHeese, this is cool....
It very well could be. especially as a two part mold. I'd have to see it in person to know... also I have the luxury of havinf a local pro shop to pick their brains over mold design... (smoothon distributor that runs seminars FTW)
I might go back and remake it for casting, I'd have to design the top to be removable. This one is just a one-off. If I can make one, I should be able to make another, right Max?

Wow!
Your soda machines are already super stuff, but
BABY!!!
That is a PROPER automobile you're building here!
Super stuff - a big thumbsup from me.
I really love the build - excellent Cheers
Klaus
The keys might be in it. Any character that arrives to the car first can check if they are. Usually they are on a roll of 6 on a d6. Sometimes its on a 5-6... I even had one scenario where all vehicles were operational at 2+
Movement would then be say 8" cruising speed, allowing a maximum of 2 (up to ) 45 degree turns, or a fast speed of 12 or even 16", allowing only one 45 degree turn, or maybe even none...
Use the damage chart of an orc truck or buggy, and the Corvegas is suddenly a useable car
Thanks everyone, all the feedback really means a lot!
If we're talking Fallout, it would be unlikely to see an operational Corvega, I fugured they would all look like this:
However, I keep doing body-work on it
I figured I'd get the shape right first, especially the fins, I didn't have much choice other than to approach them like real car body work. This one will be a rusted hull, but the body panel lines still need covered up, as the quarter panels, the panel lines, and especially the long lines on the car from front to back need to be right to be believable, even if I have some leeway with the finish of the metal.
dave... you know me how i really love your stuff... and i mean it and i hope you know it... so here is a bit of a cold shower maybe... looking at the scale shot.. would you say it is a bit on the long side? i really dn´t want to step on your toes here... just a minor thought for your consideration? i know the converga is supposed to be a landship in its own right... but the thought just poped up in my mind... not regarding this it is a perfectly good looking build...and if it might be possible at all... LED´s inside would be the icing of the already iced cake
Viktor von Domm wrote:dave... you know me how i really love your stuff... and i mean it and i hope you know it... so here is a bit of a cold shower maybe... looking at the scale shot.. would you say it is a bit on the long side?
I'm glad Vik said it, cause it's hard to give CC when so much work has gone in, but I agree that it seems a bit long. Any solution worth talking about? Just leave it since you're planning on building another?
actually i felt really low for even pointing that out... in itself i think the car looks really well scaled... i think the main issue is with the length of the bonnet and a bit with the rear...
I don't have FO:3 installed on this pc, someone PLEASE load up the game and get a screenshot of an adult male standing next to a Corvega wreck?
Post it here, let's see
damn... he knew we would be stilled when he shows more awesome looking shots of the converga^^... the chimera cant stand a chance when it comes to coolness... whatever the size may be^^ and he even spiced up the shots with the machines in the background
I think it looks great. If you have ever stood next to a 1950's era 4 door American car, they are impossibly long. I had a '55 Desoto when I was younger. It was a monster! The "Boot" looks a bit long, but I recall the Corvega having that super long trunk, so I think it fits. I will be very surprised if Dave's requested screen shot shows this build being too long.
In The Corvega's defens, it DOES have a Nuclear Reactor in the back No cooling fan on top of this model because the cooling intakes are slung across like saddlebags

1- I think the scale of the car is off, it's too big all around. Compare the doors to the miniatures, and then take a look at an IRL example. Not trying to be a jerk, just offering an objective opinion.
2- Wow. That's quite a box. I am pretty stoked to check it out. Though at this point I'm feeling like the only way I'll ever get the hobby time I 'need' to finish even 1/2 of the projects I have going right now I'm going to have to get a divorce, give the kids back to bio-mom, and win the lottery. Then I'll buy one of the decommissioned missile silos and create the first LoER bunker. After that I'll make a $20,000 trip to CostCo and hole up for the next 3 years.
*edit* Of course I'll post it. I want to brag about the awesome loot I got!
@Skalk - as per #1, I was thinking along the same lines: "Whoa, I could fit a whole unit of orks behind that whale of a car! But they were longer back then. But the one in-game is only a two door, right? so the length is right... does look a tad big, though.
No matter the strangeness of our scale here in 40K, that whale is epic. You continue to make me encourageably jealous of the time and skill you can afford this superb hobby, and all it's many crossovers.
No way! It was a blast to give out the Karma! Believe me, I won't notice any of it is gone!
I'm loving this conversation! I'm going to argue my scale still though, because Car door WERE HUGE back then! I can remember not being able to shut the door myself on my Grandpa's old 1959 Chevy Farm truck until I was probably 8 or 9. They were big, and heavy. Just look at the scale in these pics, 2-door coupe doors were even longer sometimes!..And Vit's screenshot was of a different model, mine is modelled after the ones in the Tranquility Lane simulator, the "Husband's Car" model Corvega
Automatically Appended Next Post: Yeah, I definitely got the slope of the roof wrong though, It's too pointy at the front, I was concentrating on getting the brass rod bent to the correct curve. It was tricky to do that, but it absolutely needed the strength of the brass rod (to answer Vik's eariler question)
Oh, they are all about the fact that the roof of the car is as tall or taller than the minis. But some of the really big monster cars were pretty close to a good 6ft tall themselves.
I made it too big, missed the inward slope too, if I had fixed that...
Automatically Appended Next Post: That is difficult with plasticard

Except Galorn, you've got to leave more mold room on the sides, it needs consistent pressure around the cavity to keep it's shape, it's caving in on itself.
However, I made a tool that hopefully will do the job
I spent some time casting from the molds Galorn sent me. Here's pics of the molds, no picks of the casts yet. Will do tonight if I can.
And of course, of all the stuff I cast last night, the fantasy doors came out almost 100% perfect and the rest is going to represent a junk pile. It's still usable, but the cast didn't show the detail as much.
Gentlemen! what beauty I see before my eyes, such panels of glorious detail and floors unequalled in their stone carved charm, thine heart aches for my fingers to caress such wonders, to hold and fondle corners only Riveters can create to open the eyes and warm the souls of Nerds the land over, our voices raised as one in praise to those who create, those who inspire and those who's imagination springs forth from their fingers to bring joy to us simple folk!

ok...seems i have just gotten online at time to say the grand master a farewell...for now...
if this takes up to long lt me just say this:
man... i have goosebumps of anticipation...that looks like a whole load worth of a ups van alone^^
i just showed my wife that pic... and she made a terror striken face... man...dave you go to length for your friends... mucho appreciated !!! (and i feel a strong pang of guilt for being the guy that have caused the most of postage costs...being the sole european in that lot...)
as for the corvega discussion... i have to change my mind here a bit... the car IS meant to be a true landship... and thus certain features are big as intended... AND i liked the truescale argument here...if we build something from scratch i think it is only logic to aim for truescale... the punny vehicles GW produces have been always a methaphorical thorn in my side...so making it big enough to have it fit the inteded amount of passengers is always a good deed in my book...which brings me to ask for a scaleshot with a "rider" inside... if possible...
and then the matter of the casts... bloddy good idea to send the molds with already casted stuff inside... strike of genius... tho will it heavily affect the postage (pun intended) ...
the demolded stuff yet again prooves what cool stuff dave can chuck out... the white tiles, buttresses and walls... splenid eyecandy allaround...and the lil pours of the millenium falcon and the even the lego minis...the last totally look worth the be seen as saints to the church of riveteers...!!! cool idea...
well and again... best wishes to you and lady geek....have fun and savor every moment at gencon!!!
Thanks Vik! You're always there for me, so don't sweat it one bit buddy!
Day 1 at Gencon was fan-fething-tastic as always, my feet hurt, but boy was it worth it!
Thursday is my annual Holy Shopping day, and I got some good stuff, an old-skool Leman Russ and Chimera kit (my favorite ones), one of those chemical plant sets, a couple Pegasus technobridges, two GIANT Ziplock bags of random GW terrain bitz, I traded a bunch of old GW ruin corners in my bags with another guy who had a bunch of Munda bulkheads in his bag,all from The War Store, I scored a Malcador tank from Forge World, oh and I think I am now in love with Malifaux (LadyGeek and I played a demo and she liked it), and Infinity is attracting me too, we shall see I got a couple of boxes of WarGames Factory British in Pith Helmets for some Praetorian Conversions I have always wanted to do, and will likely get a bunch more of their different boxes, as well as some of Warlord Games multi-part plastics (their Resin Vehicles are AMAZING!)
Then I took a Terrain-making class that unfortunately I could have been teaching, but I did learn a very badass way of making barbed wire, which I'll try and share someday
Tomorrow, we have a a Mordheim Round Robin game, I will probably buy a fethton of miniatures that I'll likely never paint because I am a hopeless addict, There is a Steampunk Film festival I wouldn't mind seeing, then there is a geek Burlesque show at night.
I met Briancj this morning, but he was busy getting his Artemis Bridge simulator set up, he showed us how it worked, but then his boss yelled at him and made him get back to work I don't know how his day went, hopefully well.
Yes me too! Thanks fellas..oh GW fail LOL) -The have a fething Skystrike fighter in the display cabinet but didn't fething bring any to sell! They brought EVERY superheavy tank, variant, and optional everything they make for them, but not a single flyer! HA!
ha, well I think if I decide to get it, I'll turn it into some x-wing diarama, only because I want to start "show piece" painting as I havent really done any
Yep, That's what I meant Day 2 was awesome! We played Mordheim all morning, then played A Game of Thrones board game, that is a fething blast! I took my green stuff class tonight, and I think I have finally broken my fear/frustration, I made chains, rope, purity seals, and a feather
And for those of you who fancy some historical WW2 gaming in 28mm BOLT ACTION is THE ruleset you want! Written by Rick Priestly, published by Ospreay, Warlord games makes some EXCELLENT multipart minis, The best Resin vehicles I have ever seen, plus Wargames Factory makes some cheaper multipart minis which I am about to see if are compatible, but they are both excellent sprues, little details like jeep caps sculpted on heads, but the steel pot hoelmet still fit over them make them the ultimate bitz. Shas yur recent work with the Wargames Factory greatcoats has given me ALL SORTS of ideas for IG conversions too.
Yep, I got the Great coats from Wargames factory. Still helping Tony, the guy who started WGF and now he is running Defiance Games, you will see soon painting of those guys as well, I have to finish building that company sized force!
Then I took a Terrain-making class that unfortunately I could have been teaching, but I did learn a very badass way of making barbed wire, which I'll try and share someday
we knew it would come to that... don´t say we didn´t warn you
and i bet that the malifaux game has a certain ring to it like ´munda ? am i right?
and it seems you have a truckload of cool stuff again... i am quite eager to see what you will update...the malcador...yummy... and YOU going praetorian??? cool
also... so many new bitz and stuff... you will be presenting conversion heaven soon^^
have fun mate... and i am quite proud of you to overcome your fear and frustration stage with GS!!! and so should you!
We just made it home and unloaded the metric ass-ton of stuff. It really IS bitz heaven around here, it'll take some time to sort it all out, but yeah, I'm stockpiling for later projects for sure
Malifaux is a bit different than your average skirmish game, no dice are used, but a deck of cards to allow you to cheat fate. It is quite a different system of play, but it is great fun. Very Steampunky vik..Very steampunk. As a matter of fact, I chose the Arcanist faction myself, you'll see soon
Anyways, I'm sad that it is over, but at the same time happy to be home, we are exhausted!
Ah Arcanists. They were my faction of choice too. Had so many plans for uber steampunking them further, but they never seemed to come to fruition. Would love to see what you do though!
Yeah, me too. I got rules and/or minis to start 4 new game systems!, I don't really know WTF I was thinking doing that, but I guess that is what GenCon is about, new games
cards as a way for action? sounds a bit like magic the gathering and such games... i think one of these days i should go out some more and see whats happening...
by the way... as for steampunky... be sure to look out for dystopian legions... klaus has shown us a link...in his thread... that was mindblowing to say the least...
by the way.. we went to the sea this weekend... kind of spontaneous chillin´ with da family^^ with 95° probably the only way to cope... and tomorrow the same heat... tho i have to go to work then...that will be quite hard...
The Hat? From GenCon LAST YEAR! The winged skull pin was from a different Vendor, but the same show.
Automatically Appended Next Post: The turns are similar to Flying Lead, each mini needs activated once, back and forth each turn, rahter than one side move, fire, CC like GW-ish games. You can use a regular deck of playing cards Vik, Malifaux is a city between dimensions, kind of like the Realm of Chaos, but with Victorian-era coolness.
i already fell in love with their minis long ago... till now i wasn´t able to get me some of their range tho...won´t be able to fend off the urge to get me some for long tho^^
I'll have to find the camera amidst the loot bags hare, and snap a shot of the Hirst Arts Molds I got and the huge bag(s)-o-terrain bitz I scored on the cheap
Hrm... why don't we ever have any cool conventions and such here... On each photo I can easily spot ten/twenty inspirational bits...
Ack, darn you Inspiration!
Absolutely!
Max..who was trying to keep up with me? Here is the Praetorian idea with the Wargames Factory Brits...not bad
The Mini on the left was Warlord's GenCon exclusive fig, a Brit Red Devil hauling a wounded mate.
dsteingass wrote:Yeah I know what you mean. I guess the next option would be carving off the pads and adding GS Epaulettes on the shoulders. Basically, a lot of work
Awesome Galorn, take your time getting those molded up, I have a feeling they will sell themselves if they are really nice casts!
The Mk1 can be flat-backed, no need to try and cast the back detail on that one.

Thanks Randy, Those are badass!
There were some vintage Praetorian minis at GenCon, but he wanted $7-15 each for them, no way. The Wargames Factory figs were $15 for a box of 20 figs on the sprue.
Dave, how about a shot of your new Malcador? Maybe even with a russ or chimera hull for scale?
Sure, but it's still unbuilt
Not a problem. I have a spare Russ chassis lying around and I was trying to come up with something fun and =]_,= worthy to build out of it. I'm not running a third russ in my army list any time soon, but I'd like to start working more with plasticard, especially since I think my Hydra conversion will require some scratch building to make it work.
The treads on the Malcador are the same size (same sprue actually) as the Russ and Chimera treads. You should take a look at some of the different FW Russ variants, like Tank Destroyers and such, there are a lot of cool things you could do with a Russ Chassis, even without a turret. My first ever Plasticard work was turning a Chimera Kit into a Salamander Scout. I think it is the best place to start with Plasticard!
Sounds like you are ready to add to your city's worth of terrain then. Rome truly was not built in a day, but it look and sounds like you have enough for your own mini-Rome!
I'm going to need to build a bigger table!! 6x4 may not be enough anymore!
-I can go golf 18 holes with a cart, beer, etc. and spend $40, it lasts an afternoon, then it's gone.
-We can go to a movie, get popcorn, drinks, and candy and Spend $40, it lasts 2 hours, then it's gone.
Or I can buy models and have something to do for weeks/months and have something to show for it
mxwllmdr wrote:Ok, so there is officially no keeping up with Dave now.....
there was little chance at all even before...^^
and dave... tho atm the hirst molds appear to be a lit i fear they will shrink to way too few when you start working and building with them... just like a ham roast...
Well, yesterday I poured 5 pounds of plaster into them, and got about 6 pours from all 7 Hirst molds I got. It's enough to get started building anyways. I think I've found a Dental Plaster supply company here in Fort Wayne that sells 50lb boxes for $50. I just need to call them to check and stop in to pick one up.
I have read that Pottery Plaster is also good to use, but If I can get the real deal dental stuff, I'm pretty sure It goes farther than the art plaster/permastone stuff I've been using. The grey pieces you see are the sample packet of dental plaster that Hirst gives you when you buy a mold. It's just better all-around from my limited experience with it.

Yes, his weapon is a Fence Post, he has 2 attacks, Crit 6, and is the mob "Bouncer"
I bought all the rules and the other crap simply because I loved this model so much
Mister Tannen
The weasel-like Accountant. "Bored to Tears" is ACTUALLY his special attack!
I was never sold on those Hirstarts moulds to be honest but after seeing some of these I am almost persuaded I love the Mister Graves mini are they 28mm I have a great conversion idea for him and my steam punk town.
I totally should have left my last post until..... now! holy snapping duck s@&t that terrain haul and what you are building is just.... just....... Gah! awesome! I am more than happy to provide finances to you or galorn to grease my palm with such mouth watering goodness! :-)
LDD, I guess if you're after that sort of thing, look at the Arcanists as well...
The sprues are bigger than I thought they'd be, a good thing nice spacing, and those casts look perfect. Looking forward to getting any of their plastic models now.
Should also look up the lawyer character, one of the things I like about the game is how their rules reflect their background. He's got stuff like red tape, I think it was, which stops them from using an ability or something annoying like that.
I got Ramos's box set, his badass Avatar of Invention, about 6 sets of Steampunk Arachnids (I am going to magnetize them for swarms or individuals), the two other steam spider constructs, the Rail Golem, and 3 Union miners (love those sculpts)
I don't know, I guess all new. All metal anyways. Yep I played Ramos during my demo game, his ability to create and rebuild those spiders are awesome. Between swarms of those and the killing power of the Steamborg, you can tie your opponent up in CC and keep him safely behind. I haven't used Ramos' avatar yet, but he looks badass.
A lot of the Avatars do. He drew my attention initially for the same reason, but the spiders at the time were said to be nightmares to construct. My second choice was Pandora, until a closer look at the rules meant the crew I wanted to run would automatically lose in about half of the objectives that came up; the only option being to kill the enemy completely.
those malifaux sprues look very cool... what does the average mini cost?
and the hirst arts stuff... you just gotta lick your fingers for that tasty stuff... the archways... if you have those bitz... there is no need for carving bricks anymore...
one other thing... the praetorian guardsman combo... i fear with the standard IG shoulderpads he looks like a mini version of a SM... don´t you think so too?
Yeah, the Praetorians need different arms for sure. The single Malifaux minis cost about $11 each on average I think, not really cheap, but they are technically 32mm minis. And yes, I am a huge fan of the Hirst Stuff, even if it takes a lot longer to prepare for building than plastic does, the versatility, and the ability to cast unlimited parts really makes it worth it in the long run. You just have to do all the legwork. The new Dental Stone I ordered has a set time of 9-11 minutes, so that should speed the casting process up quite a bit methinks.
19 times on average set time? that is quick...and how do you treat your molds? any conservative preperations after each use?
i have looked into malifaux... the size isn´t really that bithersome... for certain extra jobs/projects i think it is a nice fresh wind... and honestly... a 32mm Mr. Graves would make a great (pun inteded) Ogryn stand in for a munda or 40k setting.... if i am any judge...
as for the IG praetorians of yours... the lasguns and arms are not that off looking... just the shouldersection needs some work...
I wash the molds with warm water to get any dried plaster chips off, but I don't always dry them really well ,as a little water in the corners helps it all flow rather well, but currently it takes about 30-45 minutes before I can demold, and then they are still pretty damp and prone to cracking until they fully dry about 2 days later. If you try to glue them before they are dry, the glue actually erodes the plaster a bit. The Dental Stone is harder than plaster. The stuff I ordered has a compression strength of 9000 PSI, the hardest stuff you can buy is twice that strength at 18000 PSI, but it turns out like Ceramic almost, which isn't really necessary IMHO.

Not to be a nudge, but uh... haven't seen those pics yet
I'm tossing around this idea to build a Valdor Tank Hunter out of that spare Russ chassis I have around, and I think the Valdor has the same tracks as the Malcadors. The clutch pic would be the Malcador track section compared to a Russ track section.

I have a couple of the early figures for that reason including these :
Yep, the Bottom one Is Ramos, I got him too There is also an alternative sculpt of Ramos. My GF played the Mad Hatter dood and his Zombie Whores with umbrellas/parasols in our demo

Thanks for the help, Dave!
Yeah, let me get out the parts and take a few pics for you man. Yes, the treads are the same exact sprue as the Russ/Chimera

I think storing them in your average tupperware/plastic container is good enough Vik.
Semi thread jack here (it is necromunda and terrain related though). Has anyone else ever made a eBay bid and forget about it until they get the email saying they won?
I posted the minimum bid on this lot within hours of its posting and did not even log back onto eBay b/c travel and family. Now I am they proud owner.
Blimey you've been busy. That's a TON (metric or otherwise) of building materials - you are going to need to draw up architects plans or something. I expect you are way ahead of me.
Thanks for all of the pictures, Dave! They will surely be helpful in my construction (as will all of your WIP shot that are forthcoming, right? )
Could I bother you for one last pic? I wasn't very clear on what I meant by "track section". I'm looking for a side by side (which, I guess, is really front to back ) with the side views of the red track sections for the Malcador and Chimera (not the blue track sections). I have a whole box full of the blue tracks, so I'm glad that they are used, too This pic would be perfect if it also included the side view of the chimera. The goal is to determine how much modifying I need to do to the Russ hull and tracks.
the last casted stuff sitting on top of these hirst casts... thats galorns stuff, isn´t it?
and the whole ranges of dystopian legions look verrrrry cool... omg... so much money... in fact... the americans even look appealing this time... except the catachans i am not really into american looking soldiers otherwise... but these have a certain coolness on them...
No, not at all man! I just thought you were talking about the treads themselves, you really want to see how the bogeys support the treads, and how the shape is..I gotcha
I just know that if I get it out again, I'll want to start working on it
@Vik- Those are my floor tiles and Galorn's walls, no Hirst there at all (yet)
thats not confusion... thats what we in the trade call frsutration of the postal system^^ for waiting on much needed stuff to get on with the projects that are precious to us
Yeah, I know. So the question is "what to really work on now?"

So, I am going to obtain an entire set of those molds from galorn, Dave. Yours and his. I think the San Lorenzo Raven sector stuff is so highly customizable that it is just screaming my name beggin for detail and trim.....
I think you floor tiles are amazing, as well.... And so simple. I feel like I could just do it myself but am unsure I could come up with anything original....
I'm saving it for when I'm in a treadhead mood again
I want to build some terrain, specifically, I am interested in building some Infinity terrain, which normally has a smooth, futuristic, Asian tech-city feel to it.
However, fluff-wise, my faction, the Ariadna are remnants of old US, UK, French and other western-thinking nations, so I think their architecture may be different. I don't really know where to start, I envision a Munda-like board with many overhead catwalks and such, but I'm just not sure about the architectural style to use to be honest. I have piles and piles of Hirst Blocks cast up, but not enough to really do anything with yet, so I need to wait on the Dental Stone.
It's sort of frustrating me a bit. The web has a few decent scratch-built Infinity boards, but not many.
Most people are using the Micro-art and Warmill-type laser-etched wood kits, but that really isn't my style if you know what I mean.
I think my brain is just sooo saturated with 40k-ish Grimdark ideas, that it is really hard to ove away from that look.
I always wanted to build bottomless terrain, just use cotton balls or something to represent the towers being above the clouds and such. But perhaps I am just dreaming too big.
No I don't hink so. I think it is a hell of an idea, Dave. I think that it fits in with the Hive city approach as well. Sorta like the upper levels or think like a "Fifth Element" setting or some such......
holy gak... i like that idea too... it would be a capital sin if you didn´t do this dave... i bet this could win you some bloddy awards on some con... now that this idea is in the open it has to be done... gosh that is so cool....
Even for my Munda table, I always wanted tall edge terrain, like the walls of a hive dome. Or even for the city table, tall bildings and such, accessible and usable, but really bringing the WOW factor ya know what I mean?
Why stop there? Use a modluar system like i do with my buildings, and you can just keep stacking and stacking
Only problem would be accessability. I remember a pic going round the net of a munda game in a sort of skyscraper. But that was just 1 foot by three feet, and TALL... the size allowed access. A table thats 4x4 (average munda) with tall structures along the edges becomes useless in the centre.
Now if we can solve that...
And what's this about Adepticon? If Vik is willing to fly out there, I will too
I was thinking... do we then need a gang with all the riveters modelled in, cuz I can do that I can

absolutly understood and i feel your pain for not getting to work on this immediately...
and i actually would love to see that with small LED´s...lots of´em... and then play in the dark... only with the LED´s illuminating the platforms and such things... you know this would be amazing...
Trust me, if you go height, you need no more than 4x4. I figure there are two ways of supporting the 'table' level. Build 4 sturdy legs, and build set scenery around the 4. (stairway columns, suppert shafts, stuff like that)
Or you build one central leg, and build lower level scenery around it. Either way you can now divide the lower section in parts and height levels. Say 4 height levels below table, meaning 4 times the normal amount of 'floor' boards. Have them with structures built in and a flat top, so as to support the next level. 4 height levels is enough to avoid getting wobly, and high enough to allow play access.
On top of the table you can continue the principle. Keep everything flattened at the same height, and just stack. Make some boards the size of 2 or 3, so you can also create bigger height gaps.
Heck, its a system anyone could participate in anywhere in the galaxy as long as floor size and height remain universal
(Does it show i've been planning a board like this for ages?)
..And perhaps subconsciously where I got the idea for the truss bridge supports?

Yes, I like them very much myself! Malifaux has awesome sculpts in all the factions. I want the Guild Cowboy-looking figures just for the excellent sculpts.
Here is the test pour!
15 minutes after pouring!
Only 1 breakage
A few bubbles, but not many
I've always had to glue these back together after demolding with the old stuff, it always cracked, now just a few bubbles, that's all
No door ever survived the previous 6 pours, this one is pristine!
These are great IMHO!
Yeah, I mean demolding quicker means casting faster. They are ever so slightly damp still, but drying super FAST. I would obviously wait until they were dryer before gluing them together, maybe an hour or so, but we shall see!
