When did they arrive? And just how many armies are In/Around Hive Cogger? And can we a general location of them in Hive? I am trying to get a sense of how all this is split up because we can't really be divided in just two with this many armies.
I'm still writing the piece, it should be done by tonight/tomorrow

I dont think any one person has an idea how Cogger is set up because it is very ........ Chaotic
I bet. I am tracking:
Kharne - Necrons (Supporting EoN)
EoN - Choas Undivided Cultists (Controlling most of the Hive)
Irish - Choas Nurgle Cultists And Zombies ( Semi allied with EoN)
Myself - Imperial Guard (Surrounding Hive and has Beach Head)
Chazz - Inquisition/ Storm Troopers/ Grey Knights/ Penal Legion (Holding Some Territory in Hive)
WK - Imperial Guard (Supporting Me)
Kharne - Tarellians (????)
Eyza - Choas? (????)
WK - Eldar (Controlling Tunnels in Hive/ Opposing Choas)
so its 5 vs 4 in Choas Favor but strategically Imperium is better placed? with siege adding numbers to success hopefully. Black Jack can I add a second Imperial Army and even these numbers?

My Eldar can help out a bit as well (or did you already include them in those numbers?)
I did include that WK. And Kharne any hole should be temporary because of the migrate nature of my siege force. Its patrols not entrenchment. (Hince why its not perfect.)
I'm completely fine with someone adding another faction in, but I do reccomend it is different enough than your other faction, mainly so both are interesting to write about. I myself would find it tedious to write about two separate armies of the same faction, and I do believe I'm not alone in that. But, feel free to add in another army (you do have a home brew SM chapter as well IIRC, that'd be cool to see branched out). Just give me a brief description of the army in mind and what not, and don't worry, I don't expect a giant list of all its components. That would just make my eyes glaze over anyways.

Perhaps 'poked' wasn't the right word. You'll see when I get the blurb up.
The fate of Cogger? Most likely. Although if it comes down to it my Eldar are just going to try to blow the whole Hive sky high rather than let EoN use it as a base.
War Kitten wrote: The fate of Cogger? Most likely. Although if it comes down to it my Eldar are just going to try to blow the whole Hive sky high rather than let EoN use it as a base.
Hince why most of my forces are not in Cogger lol.

If I make Cogger go boom most of the continent is probably going with it

Yea, you guys require assistance, so I'm going to go against my words and send two companies of troops and whatever tanks I have. Thats about 600 troops and 40 Leman Russ Variants.
In a minor victory? (Guess I lost a Company HQ prolly then because it would major victory against a Battalion HQ) Okay I will draw up a response once that is posted and Khane PM so we can talk about what kind of forces you likely killed.
Plans are already in motion, and no, they don't involved duck-tapping warp-things to Deathstrikes missile in the hopes of creating Vortex warheads on the go. Who gave you that idea?
War Kitten wrote: I want to do something about the breach so badly, but I can't do anything till the Gargant events are over and done with
This. So much this.
I expected this. I need to know on what point of a compass he is attacking and then their shall be a heavy response. Funny think he attack the actual weak point in the siege which is the fortified areas. The whole siege strategy was made to compensate for this and any losses. But there is a threshold of losses I can take but Sgt Vanden and Wk will help that part lol.
Ok, seeing as how I am holding back just about every crusader here, I would be willing to give out roll results and have people work on their own rolls. It would probably be faster, and give people something to do. I'm sorry things turned out like this, but I do not want to be holding people back like this. As for rolls that involved people working together, I would just have the partners work together to make it more consistent, but that's personal preference.
It has nothing to do with you, it's just that so much gak is happening at Cogger, and what happens with Drakka's guys is going to heavily influence me, and I already wrote up and posted my landing
Shouldn't I be the one holding down the siege, seeing as though I would have tanks and such? You have cavalry, and light transports, you're not suited to such combat.
Send me PM WK
Oh and Kharne, I still love and care for you, but I'm going to have to tell you to fook off. Cogger is Imperial territory, so if you could be so kind as to off yourself, that would be spectacular.
Sgt. Vanden wrote: Shouldn't I be the one holding down the siege, seeing as though I would have tanks and such? You have cavalry, and light transports, you're not suited to such combat.
yes but until you can actually take over I am stuck and your 600 plus tanks may cover half of the siege but its taking my 2000 + to cover an entire city and maintain a small beach head.

Hmm? Oh, I'm just going to position myself along key points around the entire hive. You can fill the gaps if you like, but my first priority is to kick Kharne out of his little hidey-hole.
'
I'm salty that there's so much going on and I can do sweet feth all about it. I can roll now if I want, but that doesn't help since I'm not even supposed to BE THERE yet
So this is how I'm portraying the Tarellians all C&C encouraged and welcome
I will most likely alter a lot of this as well.
Spoiler:
Tarellian 'Formations'
-Lounge- Squad Equivalent, led by a Rager (Seargant), ~10-20 people
-Clan- Platoon Equivalent, led by a Rage-Master (Lieutenant or Command Sergeant), ~30-80 people
-Tribe- Company Equivalent, led by a Chief (Captain/Major), ~90-240 people
-Warband- Regiment Equivalent, led by a Chieftain (Colonel/General), ~270-960 people
-War Congregation- Division Equivalent, led by a Grand Chieftain (Field Marshal), ~6,000-10,000 people
Tarellian Technology
-Because they work a lot with the Tau, that Tau have given them a fare amount of technology, including anti-gravatic devices and electromagnetic tech.
-Their basic materials consist of a Stone that can be worked into various shapes and is produce-able. Metals similar to Bronze, Copper, Iron, and Titanium. Unique gems found in the Tarellian home system capable of storing quantities of energy which are released when the gem is broken.
-Their weapons consist of 'Shard' weapons, typically a rifle type which use rails to propel projectiles down range, 'Scorch' weapons which focus a large amount of energy in a gem which is then sent down range, and 'Dune' weapons which send a storm of small shards capable of incapacitating enemies at short range.
Tarellian Society
-Their home world is a vast Desert planet which has highly influenced their culture and society. They have Shamans which seem to be able to influence the desert sands and heat itself, it is thought that they are Psykers, but they show no knowledge of the Immaterium. Chiefs and Chieftains and their kin usually bear markings that show dedication to certain aspects of their homeworld. Tarellians themselves are quite impatient and hot blooded, but in battle seem to enter a calm rage.
I know I amlate for this (always the case, you guys are very chatty when i go to sleep, damn time zones) but the grey knights are no longer at Hive Cogger. They have been dispatched to deal with my guys in Arcannus on Crion.
So Kharne, are these lizards and their allies welcoming to chaos ? If not we may have an issue. Nice piece too, I find them very interesting as i have never heard of them before, good stuff
I'm pretty sure only a squad went to deal with you. They will of course be supported by elements of my Guard, but there is only a squad. So I'd say less than 11 Space Marines are going to try to take you out.
I could live with that, its filled with Traitors and Heretics and its a quite annoying distraction of forces better spent stealing weapons and tapping things that should not be tapped together.
So, as a theoretical idea to handle the masses of forces at Cogger: when it comes down for fecal matter and circular fans to impact, we can break the city into three or four major conflict sites, and do each of those like we're doing for the Gargant: everyone involved contributes a roll.
TheEyeOfNight wrote: So, as a theoretical idea to handle the masses of forces at Cogger: when it comes down for fecal matter and circular fans to impact, we can break the city into three or four major conflict sites, and do each of those like we're doing for the Gargant: everyone involved contributes a roll.
Better idea.
Assign the city to quarters/gates, and have a face off - ie, the Flayed Legion defend North Gate, whilst the Inquisition attack it, and vice versa. That way, the battle can be split up into more manageable sections, and then move in from there. I think an essential thing for the GM to do at this point is to force those who take massive losses from either end of the siege, via Phyrric Victories or Major Defeats, to pull out. The weakest half of the fighter pull out, until there is only one standing. The last person standing wins.
For example, SM and IG are attacking a Tau/Eldar fort.
The Eldar and SM player get Victories, the Tau player gets a minor defeat and the IG player gets a major defeat. The Tau and IG players are forced to withdraw after taking huge losses. However, at the next hurdle, the SM player gets a minor victory over the Eldar's minor defeat - however, because the SM player had a better roll, they force the Eldar out and win.
TL;DR
Divide the battle into smaller battlezones.
Divide the battle into stages.
At each stage, remove the lowest half of participants.
This continues until an entire team is knocked out.
Well the only problem I see is my forces are a little spread for that but in principle I agree. As it stands I have 5 - 6 smaller force break ups.
4 compass point Battalions
1 beachhead directly in line with the same battalion
Remnant forces supporting the Inquisitor due to getting cut off in the city.

For areas here is what I know has already been identified somewhat and who controls it.
Southern Gate/wall Destroyed ( Presumably This is where 487th's Beachhead is. )
Salvation Plaza somewhere near the southern wall ( EoN Cultists and Kharne Bonemen)
Inquisitorial Camp somewhere inside the hive ( Chazz Combined Forces)
Unnamed Tunnels ( WK Eldar )
Hive's Outer boarders ( Four Compass points in 487th's Control, with a hole created at a Company HQ outpost somewhere in between by Kharne's Lizardmen)
Some unknown HQ in Hive ( Irish's Nurgle Cultists)
Grand Avenue ( EoN Choas Spawn)
Also, I dread the day TS gets back and unleashes his mind-fething upon me once more. I can only hope my struggle to reclaim the throne amuses him enough that he doesn't utterly mind-murders all my characters.
Umm did you read my Chaos super friends post ? Where the various chaos factions met and agreed to help each other ? Ya that happened so it is an alliance, a fragile one but an alliance none the less. Also i began writing a piece today but it turned into a 1000 word post before i even got onto what I actually wanted to write about so do you guys want me to post it on its own as a separate post or do you want me to just write one big one ?

It feels nice to say 'Aye'. Makes me sound like a scurvy pirate.
Hey guys, just an update on things on my end. I've been SUPER inactive because of a lot things from classes up until June 3rd to being completely uninspired to write jack gak up through today. I have an event that needs to be written up, and I have an idea of how I want to write it up, but I just lack the drive to struggle with it. Kauvlosk will rise again, but it'll just take me a moment or two to finally find the motivation to exist and then write it up. Thanks for keeping this thing going. I'm still excited about it!

Although he may come to Cogger and presumably (try to) feth up everybody.

BY YMIR'S BEARD YOU'RE BACK!
MY NECRON BUDDY HAS RETURNED
You do realize that his guys will want to kill yours? The Flaying virus is a bit of an inconvenience.
So, as your Friendly Not So Local Herald and (temporary) GM, I have a list of simple instructions to get you on your merry way of fething up all of our gak.
1) Pick a faction you'd like to write about. We have a current roster on the first page to see what is being played, but feel free to repeat a faction if it's already in use.
2) Decide where to settle. The first page of the Second Sun thread has a map showing current players' HQ's.
3) PM Tactical_Spam general info of your faction so he can update the roster so you're officially a crusader (I prefer League of Dakkanites fething each other over, but that's just me)
4) Based on if you are settling on a moon (Luna Maximus or Epsilon) or the planet (Crion) send a PM to myself or Chazz Huggins. I run the moons, Chazz has Crion. Once you are ready, PM whichever one of us is GMing your area, and tell us what you're plan of action is. This could be assaulting another faction, exploring nearby ruins, etc. Also include a number 1-100 in the roll, this determines your chance of victory. The GM will give you a number that is along 1-100, and the closer his number is to yours, the better it is for you! We have a grading scale on the first page as well, so you can see how close you need to be for that Major Victory we all strive for.
Any further questions, feel free to PM someone, or just post it here.

I resent that. You need someone to mess up Kharne, Ezra, and Irish.
EoN is most likely going to fully mess up himself without your help.
Speaking of which: Ezra, nice post. I need to tally up my opponents's posts and see what rolls it's time to make
Indeed they are, the index needs to be updated as some armies are not listed. I have my custom soace marine chapter the Emperor's hounds and a Nurgle inspired warband, the Disciples of Decay yet the chaos warband isnt listed as an example, just a heads up
Me: Disciples of Decay
Ezra: Black legion warband
EyeofNight: the Flayed legion
Kharne: Necrons though most of them left some are still shambling around
Most of us are at Hive Cogger on Luna Epsilon where we are besieged by the imperium, only a portion of my forces are here though, the rest are elsewhere. It is more of a fragile alliance kind of a scratch my back ill scratch yours
WK: Air Cavalry Regiment
Chazz: Inquisition Storm Troopers Supported by a Grey Knights Squad and a Penal Legion Regiment
Myself : 487th Lunar Ventorii Panther Cavalry Regiment (Wyrm Riders) and soon to be Bloodmoon Hunters Space Marine Chapter.
At the moment yes but when the dreadmob has been dealt with it will free up alot of Imperial forces, i cry just thinking of the hell that will rain down on Cogger when that day comes.
Gore, will always accept some more dudes as meat shields.
Kharne your lizards haven't met my dudes yet, perhaps we should change that.
Welcome to the Crusade, Gore Grandpa! Good to see new blood joining the ranks
It does make me wonder, though; how many people would be lurking on this thread? I mean, both this and the actual story thread have an obscene number of views, and they can't be all ours, can they?

So, I come back after a quick nap to get my energy back, and what do I see?
People talking to each other at this time of night, Kharnes mate joining us (Welcome btw), Irish trying to convert everybody like a Jehovah's witness, WK continually crying over the fact that he can't join the fun until 2BJ posts, Ezra stealing things, again, and TS running around saying 'THE TREES ARE COMING!'.
And I'm just sitting here like 'I need to go back to sleep'.

1, its half past 4 in the morning. Why am I awake, and why did I nap? Hell, fethed if I know.
2, YOU SHALL NEVER CONVERT THE RIGHTEOUS!
3, YOU SHALL NOT FALTER!
But serious, just focus on ye Eldar until gak finishes with the Gargant, I don't think BJ is too far off from finishing.
My first ittle plan of once I get to Cogger, is to set up an Alliance with the Eldar. My Guard may not like to, but it does seem to be logical, considering the amount of chaos that keeps arriving at Cogger by the hour.
Warband- The Gore Spawn It's a kind of 50/50 army with half being Marines which are the upper half and lead most of the important things. The other half is, I would say Cultists but their too militarized, so I would probably say Renegades.
Note: Last names are ranks basically I'm going for a very militarized Khorne theme, so I was thinking of adding some 30k WE influence in their composition. I.e. Berzerkers= Rampagers Terminators= Red Butchers?
Good lord. So many trophies in cogger for my men. Maybe my illustrious gm will let the extreme violence attract more flayed ones... Mmmm hm... Kauvlosk will rise again!

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY! *Gets beamed up from the underground inside Kharnes base* LIVE LONG AND PROSPERO!
EDIT: Seeing that my Guard were extremely underpowered numbers wise, I just doubled the amount of platoons in it. I now have 2880 guys in the regiment.
Frak Traitor Guard and Choas Astartes for the Choas side. Things got serious.
Bloodmoon Hunters are going to have their work cut out for them. And they are not even here for the war. They want some xeno tech ( yes some would consider that heretical. They have a Inquisitorial mandate for it.)

In tradition of everyone here I guess, you'll be my first quote

I think it's the combination of butt jokes, democratic necrons, explosions, and mind-fething that draws people to this Crusade like moths to a bug zapper

Jus for everybody to know my self (and my panties) better, My name is Alex.
I know this, I've been in the dark place you call the Avatar room...

Write up an intro for your Warband describing their landing on the planet, and maybe their first action? (send a PM to one of our mighty DM's with what you want to do and a number)
Sgt. Vanden wrote: I just heard Federov, and my instincts just kicked in. Sorry about that, just have to stroke Stalins mustache, that always calms me down.
I would've brought in some Vostroyans, but I fear my accents would kill everybody before TS's mind-fething would, so I went against it for the greater good of Humanity.
War Kitten wrote: You should go attack Irish's guys. I hear they don't like taking skulls
On the contrary plague marines have blight grenades which are literally the skulls of their enemies filled with diseases, not sure how that works with the holes in the eye sockets but there you go. BRING ME YOUR SKULLS !!
War Kitten wrote: So Irish I must ask, as a potential Chaos convert, what sort of dental plan might I get as a devotee of Nurgle? Also, can we not be zombies?
Absolutely ! For a one time offer if you join my cult we will offer you the chance to allow all of your teeth to rot and fall out, removing the hassle of daily maintenance and our zombie package is completely optional

Intriguing. But do you offer better benefits than Khorne?

Seeing as Kusun's method would consist of beating your teeth out with his bare hands, I think Nurgle has the better offer here.
You'll need six eyes to see all that goes on in the room.
Two for TS and his various attempts at mind-fething, one for Ezra, cause he'll steal your gak otherwise, Two for Bob, because he'll be stealing your gak while shooting you in the back, one for Kharne, for he threatens all with the thought of democratic Necrons, One for Buttery, once he gets back, because he will want your booty. One for Irish, lest you wish to become a Zombie, and one more so you can see where the feth you're walking.
Thanks for the advice, I'll grow another 3 pairs of eyes
I was going to ask how dark would be too dark for writing, but after reading some of the stuff you guys have already written I don't think it will be a problem

Long as your Khornates don't rape sheep, we should be fine.

Not really, your stuff will probably be pretty tame in comparison to some of the things we see in the CoF
I don't think any of the GM's would approve. I think the limit is like...200 marines and about 4-5K Guard, but thats at the far scale. I think 100 Marines and 2-3K Guard seem more appropriate.

Do you guys honestly think I would bring a full Chapter? I am not Jhes Wolves. I have a surprise in store with my Marines but they are technically only a Company.
The proper force name is: 2nd Tech Company of the Bloodmoon Hunters Chapter. They were brought into system by a strike cruiser and they couldn't care about the Choas folk as much. They are xeno tech collectors.

So you'll be REALLY interested in my Eldar then? We actually don't have too many Xenos in this Crusade. Mostly Orks, with a sprinkling of Eldar, some "Nids and 'Crons and Kharne's Tarellians.

Sgt_Smudge wrote: Well, I might be looking to bring a second faction in. I'm still debating.
Please for the love of the Emperor let it either be Imperial, or some faction who would be willing enough to fight alongside us, we need help at Cogger desperately
Gore Grandpa wrote: I should have my post up in about 5 minutes, I hope you guys don't mind a royal Chaos Lord and an insane Exalted Champion
I briefly toyed with doing a Khornate Warband of fallen "Knights". Essentially, they would be Space Marines who have had a code of honor, one that was twisted by their fall to Chaos. So your guys will fit in just fine.
Drakka77 wrote: A wolf grand company is just under the size of a chapter.
No, they're really not that big. A Space Wolf Grand Company is just a bit bigger than a regular SM company. I think about 120-130 men strong is typical for a SW company
