Actually I was looking at Leopard Tanks and realized how big the back deck should be to effectively stow the amount of kit to keep a tank and crew going. The original LR bins just would'nt do it.

Woops I meant Abrams XD
Accidently said Sherman becuase I was watching a WW2 movie at the time But yeh, thats why I was thinking of the Abrams, because they have large bins too. But looking back, it looks like a combo between an Abrams and a Sherman for the large bin and colors of an Abrams and the Sherman for the smaller chasis.
Some of you may have seen my larger take on the Sisters of Battle armor, but I have not ever really tread into converting..till now.. made these two tonight, still need a bit of trimming and filling, but I thought I'd share anyway.
definitely like the snub nosed assault cannon and the ammo feed. the only suggestion i'd make is the same one as the last fig.. i'd add a shin armor plate to the bionic leg.
bullyboy76 wrote:Another one of of my conversions...?? Opinions please..??
Nice conversions, I'd also love to hear where you got the feed from.
One question though.. why? Why does he have a foot and power fist when he clearly has no need for either? You've obviously established that a cut down bionic limb has all the strength required, why not just give him a bionic foot and some kind of bionic power fist? Or is it because he has a bionic hand replica that's identical to a normal hand and wears his power fist over it for war?
hi guys i'm not into playing the game and dont know the rules of what weapons are allowed . I have been advised that what i build are not playable within the game. I just build these figures as 1 off's kinda show pieces i guess..!
The "feed" Ammo feed i guess that is what your are asking about is made up from loads of different bits i have out of my bits box.
Love that knight titan,
the angry bird is awesome though the nose feels a little bit detached or displaced the lines of the jet are broken by it so it comes across as just a tiny bit wrong.
the damned artificer wrote:Princeps in amniotic tank
Wow, how did you make that! I've been wanting to make a preserved ork head in a jar for one of my IG vets, and that would be the perfect way to make it.
So much win, even just in the last two pages!
Stand outs are the ordo hereticus priests (convinced me even more that I need to get that kit) and the guy in the amniotic tub (also something I've been wanting to try for a while).
Do scratch builds count?
Clan Pestilens! (for Mordheim)
Scavvies!
I'm not really a fan of the joke marine armies, and that's not really much of a stormraven, just a valkyrie with bolt-on weapons - but it is a hell of a valkyrie! Using those building bits is genius, I think that would make an absolutely awesome conversion for an inquisition valkyrie, or a high-up commander's personal transport, or something.
The amniotic tank is made from some turret bits and a clear plastic lid from some random cosmetic product, the goo itself is zitardes 2k water gel with a drop of magenta ink mixed in. The water effect from zitardes are a resin compound and makes this attainable in one pour
The tech assasin is mostly an eversor model with the sword arm sculpted and the sword from the baneblade commander. There is however a lot of repositioning involved in converting him.
I love the angry marine bird, it's nice to see that orks aren't the only humorous race in 40k
the damned artificer wrote:The water effect from zitardes are a resin compound and makes this attainable in one pour
Would this not work with normal water effect?
Nope The normal water effect (GW) is on an acrylic base, which means it needs oxygen for the water in it to evaporate. The problem is that it takes forever to cure if the layer is too thick, and we're talking millimetres here, and the resin water effect has no such limit. The reason for that is that the one of the two components mixed is the hardener, and when mixed with the resin it creates a chemical reaction forcing the resin to cure (usually with resin it creates heat when it cures but I don't think this particular type does) and that means there's no limit to the thickness of the pour as long as the two compounds are properly mixed. Hope this helped

What did you use for this? The old model just cut up and reposed or something else?
From the original Kharn I've kept...
Head
Backpack
Gorechild and arm
Plasma pistol arm and wrist
Legs below the knee
Attatched to a few zerker bits, the khorne shoulder pad from the chaos marine squad kit and roberts your fathers brother! Threw his torso and upper legs away. Took an age to get the positioning balanced right but I feel its much better for it. Bit of green stuff at the seals and the odd skull totem on a chain and that was that. Sounds easier than I found it but I think anybody with experience could better my attempt if not the idea!
How did you afford a soul grinder just to combine with the defiler? If you have a daemon army too, i guess that it would make sense. Do you, or are you just filthy stinking rich?

A SoB Exorcist.
Started with a MK1 Rhino body. Added a MK3 Rhino front plate (shaved down to fit) and GS to fill in the ugly gaps the MK1 has between the hull and tread.
The new front plate also provided the transition needed for the Immolator top. Sections of card filled the gap between the Immolator piece and the MK1 tread-box.
The missile launcher is an Immolator turret carded over to make an enclosed turret (I never liked the open window design). The window was used to create a domed hatch. The missile pods are Lanspeeder Toronado pods trimmed down and glued together.
Forgive the clummsy paint job. My paint fu is improving and I plan to revisit the girls after my Hawk Lords project is done.
just a point if that is meant to be a epic scale gargent on page 3 or 4 how come it has a termi helm? are warlord titans going to war in termi armour. not being rude or anything it looks brilliant i just think it would e better suited as a cyborg meganob
Here is a Goblin Shaman that I made out of an archer from the Battle For Skull Pass set. One of my favorite models, I don't even have an Orc and Goblin army.

So these are the start of my "Counts as" thunder wolf calvary. I fell in love with the new bloodcrusher kit, so iv'e decided to expand my CSM army into the space wolves codex ( also because the SW codex is insane). I'm making the Wolf Lord out of the WFB Khorne Lord on Juggernaught model. I don't think I'm going to change it much, just make it 40k ish and make sure everything is represented just in case I encounter "TFG".
So the models with polearms are going to be regular CCW's and the maces from the Chaos night sprue TH, the demon blades will count as Frost blades and of course lightning claws will be wolf claws. I scewed up on these and gave the one model with a storm shield a bandolier.
There more of a kit bash but not considered done and ready for paint yet. I'm open to suggestions on improving the awsomeness.
Have you thought of cutting the legs and repositioning them a little? Right now these guys look really silly, as they're just tentatively hovering above the saddle for the juggernauts, especially the guy pictured. Just cut the leg at the armor join between thigh and pelvis and reglue it with a little bit of greenstuff.
Bengrold Stonefist wrote:Here is a Goblin Shaman that I made out of an archer from the Battle For Skull Pass set. One of my favorite models, I don't even have an Orc and Goblin army.
Thanks, I was waiting for the bits order for 2 weeks, so I just kept converting stuff while I was waiting. Anyway, there are a couple of images of him with 2 lightning claws, and I liked that better.
I'm really blown away by some of the model in this thread, fantastic work! I'm in the process of converting a female Farseer, so I'll post her when she's done. I would put up a picture now, but she's still in the bits stage =)
Wow. Horus looks really awsome- I like the wolfy look!
The farseer chick is also good- You should paint a banner behind it saying 'girl power!' just to see the looks on peoples faces. That model alone breaks the 'eldar players are gay' stereotype (not true. All of the eldar players in my area are married... to women.)
Dax415 wrote:CavPathfinder - where did you get the mini metal hoses for the conversions? those look great on the minis!
the "mini metal hoses" are guitar string

What do you guys think of him? Also do you guys think I could run him as a Daemon Prince?
Yeah, I probably should have done a different color scheme, but the rest of my army is black legion, so I thought it fit more. It only took me a couple of days, but I'm unemployed now waiting to leave for basic, so I put in like 8 hours a day painting. About 15 hours if I'd have to guess.
Thanks for the compliment.
I will say that it looks really good and you did get it done super quick so bravo to you!!!
So in the next few days I am going to take some Progress of one of the conversions I am working on for everyone to see...It was a Crisis suit but now it is Commander Deathscythe (WIP) ! Ill have it up after class today!
Parts used:
AOBR Warboss
Old school ork biker (rear wheels)
new style ork biker (gas tank forward)
old school metal attack squig
old metal ork warboss head
defiler CCW bit
I thought I would throw in my latest conversion. I know most everyone is posting 40K ones, so this should shake things up a bit. Just have the base to finish.
The tail, ears, horns, and scythe skull are all green stuff. The wings are actually GW harpy wings so its somewhat relevant in the a GW thread.
She was done for a contest where everyone had to do the same model, but we were all free to do our own takes on it. This is what I came up with.
I almost did a version that I would have called Nurgles Granddaughter, but I just couldn't bring myself to add puss, boils, etc. onto such a pretty figure.
Yeah. I'm thinking of making a Fulgrim for my army, any pointers where to start,I was thinking the eldar Avatar to start, but I'm not sure. Maybe a big Terminator?
The base is cork, the legs are chaos terminator legs, that I scraped off the knee-pads from, and added custom trim, and extra skulls to. The torso, WAS also a chaos terminator torso, but then I added layers of plasticard, and custom sculpted the front. The shoulder pads are scratch-built, the head is a terminator lord head, and the cape is a space wolves terminator lord cape, that I had to expand to fit my expanded torso.
I was just going to use the legs and torso without customizing them, but then it took 2 weeks for my bits to get here, so I started messing with stuff, lol.
I think I'll bust out my minis out of storage and take some pics of my conversions. My painting is average at best, but I do have a few interesting conversions.
I'm going to try and find the $ to get back into this after a 5 year absence. The birth of my daughter, and 2 moves sort of killed the hobby for me for a while. I need something other than PC gaming to do. So much great work in this thread.
My humble contribution is my not-so-heavily converted, but loved regardless, Doom of Malantai. Extra points for CC. I apologize in advance for my crappy cellphone camera.
For those who are curious, it's a zoanthrope/ravener kitbash. Nothing special.
airmang wrote:I thought I would throw in my latest conversion. I know most everyone is posting 40K ones, so this should shake things up a bit. Just have the base to finish.
Vermin Lord

Here's mine for my 40k Skaven (crappy pic though I need a light box).
...okay, I'm reading through the old pages of this thread, and I have no choice but to quote this from ages ago. The moment that I realized that this Marine is pelvic-thrusting at several hundred KPH toward some unfortunate sap while sporting a massive erection concealed only by that mini-banner...
Yeah. Some things just can't be unseen.
herosson wrote:Here is my favorite conversion, out of my Raven Guard Vanguards. Termi arms and bits and Catachan head.
Just completed. Heavily converted nob called a "bug boy". Member of a Bad Moon ork cult that emulates Mantis Warrior space marine combat styles & equipment, including some "looted" terminator armor pieces.
@Art: I know... I just get so little done that I feel the need to wallpaper the internet with it when I finally finish something. It just fits in several threads and not all of reach the same folks (like this one and the swap). I kinda look at my Bad Moon thread & Arakasi's as more "private", in that the following for each is relatively small when compared with a wide open thread like this one. Though... Arakasi's thread is pretty heavily viewed so maybe it's not quite as private as I thought.
@jucto: Really like that... not a typical design for a dread/defiler but *really good*.
Hits_the_spot wrote:Master of the fleet. Perhaps not my best, but my latest.
I loved seeing the step by step of you putting this one together. It looks really nice painted up. I think it's a great conversion because it is so understated that if you didn't know better you would assume it was a stock figure.

It is the pelvic thrust of doom!
(I wonder if his private parts are hooked up to a power pack... Scary!)
Bjorn Fell Handed...... more of a repair than a conversion:
Had to fix the wolf skull on the sarcophagus, the lightning claws, recarve the cannon barrel and use the T'au drone to prop it up after accidentally modding it with the help of wind blowing my spray area over and the model dropping onto a concrete floor! I couldn't bend the leg back to the straight position so made use of the drone.
Also did my Ragnar Blackmane, based on the Space Wolf Omnibus covers for colours. Was built using bits from the space wolves pack, space wolves bits pack and green stuff.

I would suggest using the flama boyz gas backpack things as feul tanks and such. I did that with mine It it came out looking very nice. Also, trukk parts work really well too.
Model looks awesome so far. The Rokkits are cool.
Very nice conversion, but it would have been better in my opinion if you had brought the "face" forward so you could see it a little better. Otherwise, it's full of win.
For me it is tied. Between my Vulkan converison And my Shrike and my Calnor Alrnia Conversion Also tell me every bit I used on all these models. It took me 3 year so of collecting to get all of these items together and my effort payed off. Giving me some badass models. Next Is green stuff stage where I put in some details like Eagle Helm on Calnor and the first Knight Symbols over my vulkan.
Gutsnagga wrote:Anyone done any Angry marines? Twin powerfists or other badass weapon combo's?
I have 3. One is the AoBR sgt, with a flag
One is holding a banner (his other arm fell off) that says "Allways Angry, All The time" (I know I spelled always wrong...shut up)
The third is kneeling with two plasma pistols, one held gangster style.
Not really my best but you get the picture. This Chief Librarian Talnar who in my opinion I have only ever written 1 sentence about. It is time I gave him some attention this guy is one badass as he is my first character I ever freaking made! Not only that but he was my first creative model.
Then one of my standard bearers Who rocks in combat! And the flag was broken when i bought it from a friend so I rebuilt parts of this marine.
Then these badasses. I love me some chainsaw-bolters. As they look awesome and they work!
He was made entirely from the bits box, legs of on old empire pistolier, the arms from the older empire regiment box, a bit of milliput for hair and other bits. The back of the horse has all sorts of equipment on it like rope, a pistol, cloth sacks and a skaven skull. I don't know about my "best" conversion, but he was a lot of fun and the most recent.
My Deathstrike was more of a true 'conversion' than a bits box job.
Here are some pictures of WIP on 3 types of scratchbuilt mutants. I wanted some big mutants to use with my Psychic Mutant Troopers and so I cut up some plastic models I had, added heads and other body parts. Hope you like, they will look better when painted, they look bitty at the moment because of all the different coloured pieces.
You can see other stuff I'm working on, on my workbench page http://www.olleysarmies.co.uk/workbench.html
Wow. Massive fan of your mutant scrunts Mr bob olley. In fact I was looking at your website the other day and wondering how long i would have to save up to buy the whole lot! its worth it for mutant midgets with guns
Hey Guys thanks for all your comments, I've got still more conversions I'm working on some are much bigger than these ones I'll post them when I've finished.
Enjoyed looking at the bike conversion looks really cool, cheers Bob
It's my wazdakka, he's twice the size of a normal ork biker though, I didn't have any at the time when I made him, so he's around the size of an ork trukk
I'm sorry, but why do so many people make 'tall' dreadnoughts/Defilers? They look awful on the tabletop, and just generally don't fit any sort of aesthetic....I see no point in wasting a perfectly good kit for something so dumb.
Just my opinion. I've seen about 12 such conversions lately... All of them were awful...
Samus - I can see why he did a tall Defiler as it was a mock up of megatron, but other than that I can concur with I do not see the overall point unless they were a titan.
WIP clearly, and my first attempt at using GS or doing a major conversion. Its magnetized at the shoulders, neck, waist, 5 points on the base, and has a backpack adapter for termie torso's that involved zero modification to the torso itself. It is extremely sturdy.
^That way it doesn't break when you drop it lol, it just falls apart at the magnets. Trust me, I have a magnetized truescale marine that I've dropped probably 30 times, and there's no damage!

Cutthroatcure wrote:agroszkiewicz- Why so many Magnets if you do not mind me asking?
Good question.
I have 6 arms, 3 heads, 2 backpacks, and 5 terrain pieces built so far. I can use a magnetized kit to represent literally dozens of HQ choices. In the process of building this I've also done home made molds for dowels and sockets out of GS, as well as a mold for the waist dowel/socket for building additional torso's and legs.
Oh, 7 arms if you count the weapons pod looking thing in the pics. Still not sure what that actually is but it looks evil.
I see..I just always magnatize guns and other additions of the sort. I have thought about doing all my choppa boyz so I could switch them to shoota really quick!
Yeah, thats what most folks do and I started out magnetizing terminator arms for the same reason. This guy is my attempt to build something that is both visually striking and extremely useful on the table top. Also, it needs to be easily transported without danger of breaking (each GS join is pulled apart after curing and superglued on both sides. The plastic joins are all scored to give more adhesive surface area), and not look like a big mashed up peice of crap.
This isn't intended to be a show piece or a shelf warmer. Its going to get in your face and tear your army apart.
Also, I do have the molds and cases now to very very quickly magnetize terminator bodies, arms, and legs. I mean in about 15 minutes per model fast.
terribletrygon wrote:Man the green stuff work on that model is ugly as feth. I like the idea of a maxed out magnet model, but the execution is pretty rough.
Was there any way you could have done some sculpting to make it less of an eyesore?
Sure, its called not being done yet and doing the details by layering thin "skins" the same way you would with clay. Right now I'm still getting the underlying structure built, and it HAS to be sturdy...IE no globs of GS...needs to be slowly built up with layers, then trimmed to fit, THEN detail work added.
Although I do like your attitude, shows an amazing capacity to NOT grasp what should be fundamentally obvious.
Also, I'm doing it the hard way and not pinning anything.
P.S. Catch the part about me never even cracking a tube of GS open til last week or attempting anything beyond a "cut and glue" conversion?
Hmmm...the best conversion model?! I do more conversions than nonconversions. It is going to be a tough call. Honestly I don't think I can pick one. It would have to be at least 3...
I have my Looted Trygon:
Wazdakka:
And my big ass Cerebore:
I still have the Tervigon, Swarmlord, Tyrannofex, Skullhammas, and Fetus the Leechlord just to name a few.
