Sorry.. little progress. Working on finishing all the checks on the legs. Every weekend has been filled with other activities. Finally it's back to normal.
I did manage to play a game yesterday. Was invited by the local gaming club to participate in a Apoc game though It really wasn't Apoc. All the players had to use the FOC. In fact there were very few LOW ( only one Imperial knight on the table) 4000 pts per person. Ended up 12000 vs. 12000 pts. Good balanced armies and no real deathstar units or cheese formations.
Armies were Necrons, Demonkin and Orks vs. Imperial Guard/Tau, Mechanicus/Space Marines and Tau. Managed to only get 2 full turns in and was very even game but was leading towards a 'Bad guys' win.
Most interesting was how good the Mechanicus were. They held the line against the onslaught. Luckly we had Orks on our side and they soaked up a ton of firepower while the Necrons and Demonkin concentrated on taking out the IG big guns.

As promised.. Deployment for our 12000 pt game… the game table was set up in a U shape. All the ‘Bad guys’ were the attackers and must deploy in the inner table edges.

Thursday night game tonight. Depending on who shows up and if we want to do a group event. I'll be once again fielding my Lamenters. Oddly the list I'm taking still requires me to proxy figures. No matter how many or what figures I have I always seem to be missing some variation or load out. This time I went with a quantity list with some Grav cheese,
2 Libbys in term armor
5 five man Tac squads with a mix of plasma and Melta special weapons. 2 in Dpods. 3 RB 2 all grav cannon Dev squads in DPods ( Libbys go here)
2 3 man Bike units with all Grav.
5 mans scouts with SR.
2 stormtalons with LC and AC.
What I know will be there are Tau, and Eldar Wraithhost w WK/Harly list ( first time seeing this) and either Orks or Demonkin.
My units will disappear fast so I'm hoping to play a grab objectives quickly game. Still I have a lot of Alpha strike 1 turn ability. but not much lasting the whole game units.
My Demi company rules allow me to ignore 1 to miss on a turn and I'll probably go with UM chapter tactic for some additional re-rolls.
No.. got my first box for my b-day and they only come with 2. so I'll have to get a few more boxes. I still need to do a few normal Grav gun guys as well.
Got an additional 5 scouts and a LS storm ( now makes 2 )but no telling when I'll get to these . I have the centurions to finish and tons more Orks.
I need to win the lottery and lure Ramos away just to see if what I currently have gets painted before I pass from this earth.
Great game last night.. Played with Yellowbeard against a Tau & IG/GK army. YB played a wraithhost Eldar army and he wipe the board almost by himself. I lost about 4 Marines and had times where I had nothing to shoot due to the Eldar cleaning out all my targets.
What a powerful list. and it had no scatterbikes.
Next week we are blessed with another visit from Gits so we'll have another 2 v 2 battle.
Still working on my centurions. In between making Ork terrain and doing a few promised pieces; I managed to snag a couple of CTAN for my Necron Army.
WIP for my Ctan in the vault. I should be able to remove him to be used independently.
My version of the Nightbringer. I wanted it to look more devilish so I went with red to contrast the charcoal and black skin.
Thank you all kindly.. so vote if you feel generous. I like the way he turned out. However I think what came out really cool was the way the red glow lit up the ground underneath him. Ended up being a cool effect.

Well YB got his Dread and surprised me with the gift of some new and partical boxes of Kits. The Vanguard box, a Box of GK's, a new box of Tactical Marines with a few guns missing, A Dread, 2 boxes of SW ( with 4 Termis and a tactical squad)
Smooth move .. now I gotta paint the SW for him..SO spent last night bashing out a SW dread with all the left over SW part from the other kits. This one at least will be able to switch out the the weapons LC and AC. PF for ML.
The 4 Termies I did all with TH&SS. Just love the look of the load out. Finished up priming them but need to stop by the FLGS for some uncrusty SW colors.
Have no Idea what he needs in the way of normal troops.
BTW, that's actually a shot at Yellowbeard... not SL. SL is generous to a fault with his time and talents.
Careful, the 'Boy' was brewing some really special stuff on Sunday when I stopped in, then when we went to the basement he must of had 8 different containers of stuff you'll want to try! I now know what he's been busy with. Different talent indeed!
Ok back on the Wargame track....
Working on a couple of terrain pieces that I picked up at last years Adepticon. ( worth going if just for the shopping) They use soda ( beer will also work ) cans for fuel tanks . Easy to assemble and look great. Finished putting them together and priming them. Started on the tank color ( went with red ). Some Pics tomorrow.
While I had all the SW colors out I started plugging away at the CC Terminators. Only 4 in this group. Base colors …

It is different from your normal Space Wolf theme, but being different isn't always bad. heck, I see people paint "Imperial Fists" all the time on forums, and not use their yellow color scheme because they don't like yellow. Uh... then why not play something else, since these marine chapters are all different anyway, mostly based on color scheme? But to each their own.
These Vengeance Batteries have been waiting for some love for a while. Originally I was going for a darkened Steel look but have decided to paint them to match the rust colored portable table I built for Adeption. Since most of my Orks are this base color It'll fit in well.
First stage, the Bases. Once I get all the base colors down I'll drybrush them to help define the edges and weather them out a bit.
I have 4 total., 2 cannons and two Gatling.
The accent of red works. Each Great Company has a different accent color. Mine is yellow, which is GW typical because it is Ragnar Blackmane's, but red is legit.
He really won't need Wolf Scouts, unless you just want to convert cool models.

Problem is I'm not sure what units he has now. I lost track. I did manage to pick up 10 more Grey Hunters. Thought I might make a 5 man squad and kit out the other 5 with special weapons so He has some other options to field different load outs.
I also got 2 drop pods for 30$ which I think i'll pass on to him ( i have 4 already)

These are not all that different. Most of the other termis has a red shoulder and red PF and red is the spot color for most of his troop type units. What I thought was gonna be overwhelming was the amount of gold accent. It seemed/ felt like i was 'bringing' the bling on these guys. Again both Dreads are not SW dreads and everything SW on them was added.
I find them easy and quick to paint, so much more than my Lamenters and like having painted minis on the table ( even when they are not mine ) and if I can help a bud out!
Between getting ready for winter ( on the farm ) and life busy I managed to get some more sporadic work done. Vengeance batteries complete. Spent more time on these that I thought and still could do more. So calling it table top and moving on.

While cleaning my shop I had some spare moments to do some small projects. Most touch ups and repaints.
Repaint and touchup the Space hulk Libby. Originally was painted in a Homebrew chapter colors. Brought him in line for service to my Lamenters.
Another repaint/ touch up. Old Techmarine.
Finished putting the appendages on the TF techmarine.
Lastly the two Whirlwind launchers turrets.
I managed to get some more bits and now can kit out my rhinos in almost every variation. I believe I can do six Predators( with either AC or LC)or as 6 RB ( not every config ) or 2 as WW.
Trying to get to some of the half-finished figures completed. Next I have 12 scouts to finish. 11 Sniper rifles and 1 with a ML. This should bring me up to 17 total. ( 14 SR, 1 Sarge w BG. 1 ML and 1 Hvy Btlr) I have to think about doing the 2 LS storms for them at some point.
Also on the block is a half finished Bastion. Need to repaint it to the more rust color theme like the Vengeance batteries.
Holiday incoming in this here United of States so I'll have a nice 4 day weekend. Hopefully I can devote some hrs to getting some stuff painted. Really trying to clean up the stuff half done.

On the Lamenter front. I need to finish the 5 scouts, 2 squads of centurions and the 3 Contemptors.
I'd like to get in a game this month as well. Wait to show off my modcubes.

Brought some plastic plants from my local pet store. They are a bit large but should be able to make some interesting flora pieces as well as finally get some of these minis based. Looking forward to the end of the month when I'll have 11 days off! Hopefully the weather stays mild!
I've actually used the rust dry paint on some of my Leman Russes, it actually looks really good if it's used properly. if you do use it I can't wait to see how it comes out!

These were built for our Adepticon display a few years back, so now they'll get an upgrade to the current theme. The craters probably won't need to much and the AA quad guns will be spared and re-purposed for Carapace mounts on my IK's

Resin. I believe. Didn't actually purchase it myself. Got it as a gift. Nice thing is it's all in pieces so it can be put together multiple ways.
I have lot of terrain pieces like this and someday I'll put them on 1x1 boards so I might actually remember to use them in games.

Yeah, the amount of gold metallic with the bone color skeletons on the gun make them seem brighter than the other pieces. I might wash the metallics down again. There is not as much bare metal on the guns as the other pieces. The kit is much more embellished so it calls for more detail. Originally the red base was the rust color, I thought it needed some color to break up the rust ' Blob' effect, thus the red.

When I'm done with the set, I'll dust them with the rust to tie them to the the other structures. Hopefully it won't ruin the effect.

Was pleasantly surprised myself. It was a just start painting moment and see where it goes.
I'll probably drop off the bunkers to my FLGS. they are bit small and don't fit the standard bunker that GW sells. So I'll have to make some new ones that fit the foot print better so they are legal for the points. I'll keep the guns however.

Took the day off.. lots of snow. Some of my drifts were 4 feet high. Still more clean up to do, I hope this is the worst it gets all winter.
Got into a game of Zone Mortalis at Adepticon. So now I have to come up with 2 500pt HH armies. Thinking about doing Alpha legion, just cause it's so different than what I own.
Any suggestions on how to fill out a good offence and defence list ?
Tough weather week, some drifts I had to clear were over 4ft. Who needs a gym! So sore . Hoping this is the last of it! ( insert insane laugh here)
Finished single tank. Still need to finish the double one of these.
Several more tank terrain pieces. The blue tanks unit is missing the other 2 tanks ( painting separately so I can weather them correctly). The other piece is still in the building stage. ( Bonus for LoS blocking terrain ) The walkways will fit normal figures. Haven't tried Termies though)
Come Adepticon I'll pick you up one. Lots of terrain to choose from at the convention.
As previously mentioned, I'm participating in a 30k game of Zone Mortalis at Adepticon. Purchased a Betrayal at Calph box set yesterday. Thou I prefer the older version of Armor I thought it was a good cost effective way to get most of my figures instead of through FW. DEcided to go with the Alpha Legion, Not sure how effective they will be as I haven't played the game and am not up to speed on all the rules. But if I don't get started soon It'll be crunch time especially while playing FO4.
Look for some test figures and perhaps a new blog in the near future. Any suggestions would be helpful!
How do you get your checkerboards to look so neat? I'm just starting a Lamenters army (1 unit of Tactical Marines, a Commander, and 5 Death Company with jump packs) I've got the yellow just about down, but I'm having issues with the checkerboards.
Carlos....Thanks, thou not all of them are that clean. I wish I had the patience to go back and clean them up.
Paint white...Then I draw out my checks prior to filling them in. For the shoulder pads... draw a line splitting the pad in half. Split the half's again. You now have 4 equal splits. Split them once more and you should now have 8 sections. Draw your horizontal lines at the same height to make them square. Continue up the pad taking the curve of the pad in mind to keep it square. Note as you go up you will lose the square and end with a triangle. I try to get 5 lines up. Once complete paint in the squares. Take your time and touch up with either black or white as needed. Take care to remember the curvature of the pad.
After you let dry. I paint the white circle for the heart. I start in the center and swirl out to the correct size. Let dry. Once dry take a fine pen ( I use the micron ones ) and outline the circle ( pretty much just in the white sections) Paint the heart and blood drop. ( This just take practice to develop the right strokes )
Hope that helps.. oh and I paint all my pads not attached to the model. Easier to paint assembly style that way. I'm always painting some.
Can't remember but at some point I thought someone made a Lamenter resin pad for these..

Fill in the special weapon gaps.. Namely 3 plasma gun marines, 3 Grav gun Marines. Same with my JP troops.
Fill in the Heavy weapon gaps. 4 HB marines, 4 Grav Marines.
Fill in the gaps for Preds. 2 additional turrets.
Finish and magnitize the 3 contemptors, Start on the Derado contemptor.
2 Land Raiders ( Magnitized for all 3 variants )
On the non Lamenters
1. Start a 30K Alpha legion. I need this for a Adepticon zone Mortalis game. Two 500 pt armies ( one attack, one defense ) Need to be complete by end of March ) Most models already purchased.
2. Imperial Knights. 4 for myself and 1 for a friend. ( which also must be done prior to Adepticon)
3. SW.. I got 2 drop pods and 10 TWC I want to paint for YB! So fun to paint and so different! I also need to finish his Preds: Magnetized side sponsons and swap-able turrets
4. More terrain to match my board. Set pieces as well as odds and ends.
This should keep me busy till the snows melt and the grass starts greening!

Not sure yet, they have a special saboteur single unit which looks like fun, An terminator unit ( though I think thia will prove too expensive) they also ( if i remember correctly ) have a couple of interesting chapter rules. ( infiltrate, mess with reserve rolls ect )

I'm starting out with a B a Calth box so I have a start. Thinking about replacing the heads to something more AL appropriate. I'll see when I get the test model done. Hopefully it warms up so I can be out in my work room. Until then I have to stop playing FO4 and collecting suits of Power Armor
I was advised by some veteran 30k players, that at 500 points you basically get an HQ, a tac squad & either some terminators or a dread. (for a reasonably competitive build) There are some really unique EC units, but they're all too expensive to add at the 500 point level.
EDC, Gits , IMGI SW and WM - Thanks. All these are for my own home table as I live in the wilderness, They won't see much table time unless I win the lottery and move Ramos out and fly the rest of you in. But I have it so I'll be ready.
I'll try to bring some to Adepticon. We have a portable 4x8 table top we bring in case the open tables are full.
On to building my Adepticon AL list(s) so I can start building figs.
Due to it coldness, I spent more time in my main dweling instead than out in the workshop. Been trying to put together two 500 pt HH list for a Zone Mortalis campaign at Adepticon.
I'm beginning to believethere are few options of this low a point army. At the least you have to have a commander and a troop choice. This alone will cost you 200 of you 500 pts without any adds or upgrades.
At this point you can go with a Contemptor or Terminators. Once you add on the necessary gear and weapons your not going to be able to affords another squad.
So I started building figures with this in mind. 1 Commander, 5 Termies, 10 Tactical and a Contemptor, I'll have some figures from the box set to be able to add some additional special weapons load out if i need to replace any figure and I'll build the Contemptor with both weapon options.
I'll have to assume some bulkhead breaking options in each squad so they have the ability to move around the board as well as manage my opponents Contemptors or dreads.
I've decided to go with Alpha legion. There is some chapter benefits, thou at his point level I'm not sure they will come into play that often. This should work well as I go forward in the future on my CSM army. Was originally looking at TS but this works out well as I have a lot of cultist in my Army.
Next, finish the general builds and do a test model. I'm going for a slightly greenish blue for these guys.
Of course not, your stuff always looks great. But I also know that a lot of what you do has pretty quick turn-around times and you rarely get to stretch your legs as an artist with your figures. I'm hoping because these will be a very small group of units, you might be able to linger on them a bit.
I only paint to one standard, so it's what it is. For this project I'm hoping to try some different things.
First its a different color process I'm trying. Still using the AB, but I want a more satin look than the normal flat on my Lamenters.
Next I'm going to try and weather them up. I really suck at it so this will be good practice and give them a more worn look which should be appropriate for a CSM army.
Lastly I'm going to try and base them with more built up bases. I'm not too consistent with basing on some of my armies( Sometimes I don't know how I want them based so I just leave them painted ) A little more dramatic as it's the HH after all.
Still we'll see what the test model comes out like. Hopefully this week I get some time. Only 10 weekends till Adepticon. 17 figures to paint and the clock it ticking.

When you say "I only paint to one standard" followed by a series of things you're going to do differently or special for this project... I got news for you... you've got more than one standard.
Worked on getting the 5 Terminators built. Managed to get the bodies together, but will have to wait till I figure the load out to do the arms. Hopefully today I'll finalize my list ( for better or worse since I haven't played a Zone Mortalis game, I'm not sure what to expect. )
The tac squad should be pretty much bolters.
The tough decisions will have to be made via the Cptn, Sgt(s) and the Dread load out.
Will be looking at ordering either bases or material for bases. Wanna do something ship interior or tunnel looking.

Not much to report .. did a test figure on with the Alpha Legion last night. I followed someones formula (complex ) as it had the right look I wanted. Didn't work out. I didn't get the same results.
So I'm trying another ( simpler - using inks ) formula this weekend ( should I be able to keep my shop heated ).
I hope to have everything built and all the base colors done this weekend. Pics forthcoming.

It does not. Just the light. Original formula wanted me to base metallic silver and then paint the blue. I thought it was too shiny and distracting. The trim will be silver/ steel so it should provide a nice 'brighting' effect.
As AL i'm trying to not get to colorful. They are in general supposed to look very similar. Though my Centurion is obviously different I will probably go with a black cloak and helmet crest to avoid making him stand out more than he does.
One of my list has a HB rapier.. I have an old metal one from 40k 2nd edition that I'll try using. Cool thing is that I've had this for years and this will be the fist time it see action.
Working on doing something different with these. I primed black. Next using the AB painted 'Sotek green ( blue)" only at an angle. Leaving some parts of the model completely black. Hopefully this look give the figure a more sinister or darker look. Next a wash of Nightshade ( blue/purple ). Once dry a wash of Green ( mine is so old it still says Thakka green ).
I've then added leadbelcher metal to the trim and wash with Nun oil. I then go bach and highlight the armor with the Sotek green/blue. So far I've only managed to get my Centurion done to this stage. I thought I would do them more of a green than blue but the test models look to much like the SoH with the green color, I'm contemplating doing another brighter highlight but I'm not sure that fits with the Alpha Legion.
I'll work on the rest this week and weekend. I plan to paint the writing and icons using the neon green. Hopefully the 100$ I spent on bases will come in soon. I'll paint them in a metal and rusty red color so they contrast a bit with the figure. This should reflect the interior bowels of a ship thats being boarded!+
I'll carry over the theme into my 40KCSM. Since I have a lot of original vehicles ( 2 original LR, 2 RB and 2 Rhinos ) that would fit the 30k concept. Obviously I'll have to have some 40k figure to make it work, Helldrakes, cultists ect. Future project for sure.
This brings me to another quandary.. As I have two old Mk1 Land Raiders and we are all aware that the LC on the side are poorly designed (most of line are broken off anyway ) I hate to just glue them back together, Has anyone seen a good looking kitbash on updating these?
I don't want to change the rest of the tank as they are a classic, but I don't want something that looks stupid either.
I've been thinking about that myself as I have one of said broken weapon systems. So far, my best idea has been to clean out the plastic rod in the weapon mount, opening it up, then fill it with steel (shot, washers, etc) or magnetic material. Then mount a strong rare earth magnet on the TL las cannons so they simple glide magnetically on the mount. That way you keep all of the original poseability of the weapon mount. Also makes it easy to store and virtually unbreakable.
SW .. yeah the bottom one is converted .. looks like they used a 25mm base and a modern LC.
Mine are like Gits. The original I believe was just a single plastic pin that held the cannons on (See Gits first pic) . Made no sense from a design point and had no power cables, shielding or targeting.I guess they didn't put that much into it at the time since they had very little vehicles in the game.
I like the weathering you did on yours! I'll have to look at the newer FW version for the timeless look.

Judge Dread would say.. "I knew you'd say that" Might go another level up and see what it looks like. OR.. you could paint these for me and I could sit back and feel honored and privileged! Probably not go with the dragon heads though they would be appropriate for the Hydra iconography for the Alpha legion. I'll try to keep the 30K stuff as close to the original and use it for my 40k when needed.
Almost finished with the Terminators. Some flamers to detail ( both on the Dread and the Terminator ) Still waiting on the new bases.
So put down some base colors on the Old Landraiders. Working on updating the Las Cannon, Hatches and the MM/ HB mounts.
A lot more work. I might have to breakdown and order some transfers.
Finally got Yellowbeard to commit to a game. I assume he's doing SW, so I'm going to try out a generic SM list. It'll be nice to get my Lamenting Marines back on the table. I'll take some pics if anything great happens ( for both of us!)

Great game last night. A SW list with a Skyhammer formation. No battle report but some pic of the mess after the SH drop.
Both YB and I rolled terrible and the game could have gone in either of our directions. My 2 vengeance batteries ended up doing more damage to me than my opponent. In the end the special rules for our formations played little part in the game. Just slugging it out.
Ironically we were killing each other with bolt pistols, bolters and HoW attacks. Combined with poor saves ( I rolled six 1’s in a row for things needing a 2+ or 3+ ) I managed to pull off a win with 10vp to 6vp.
That looks like a great game regardless of the bad rolls. Got to say the armies look wonderful, your Lamenters look amazing, really stand out on the table top.
Thanks. The Yellow stands out and it nice to be something different. It's especially good when I team with Gits MW. The Green and yellow brighten up a table. ( in fact we won a painting contest together at a tourney. - Ok, he won and I was at the table)
I'm really getting into the AL, Not a chapter I was going to play. I was going with Thousand Sons, but they played only a small role in the Heresy that it would be to late to really do 30k justice.
I'll still see what FW does with the BA as I was always leading to that, but it's nice to have a "non- imperial ' army out there.
I'll carry over the XX Legion into the 40k world and use it to do A traditional CSM army. I'll mix some oft the pre-heresy stuff with the more Chaos elements to make something codex playable ( helldrakes ect) while keeping the purity of the 30 AL available and expanding.
I'd like to get more into 30k at Adeption. After the initial BoC box (minus the 10 normal marines I gave to Gits) I'll get the LR's , 2 BD and 2 Rhinos repainted in AL color. I'll have to start buying some more inf soon after.

They are. A rusty brown. I'll work on the plating and metals this week and then darken them up. I'l think the contrast will look good with the AL.

Thanks, I really like the way they came out. The bases are finished. The look I'm going for is concrete, metal debris and plating/grating. I carried over the overall look onto the sides.
My tank farm pieces total 4 and with all the small pipes and other stuff should be fun to play on. Hopefully there will be some cool stuff at AC to add to it.
I didn't like the idea of you stopping painting Lamenters in order to paint Alpha Legion, but I can live with it now that I see how pretty they are!
As for your battle with bad dice rolls - in my most recent game I caused exactly one hull point of damage in the entire first two turns, and it was 2000 points! Then I won at the start of the third turn by getting a relic off of the board. Funny for me. Felt sorry for my opponents, but it was to get a new relic for the campaign.

I'm just trying to get stuff done for Adepticon. Several of the events I'm entered in are HH games and thus way before my Lamenters.
I will be playing in a 2 day Badab Event at Adepticon as well, so I'll bring them out for sure. 1850 list and a 1000 pt ZM list. On the 2nd day we'll do a Apoc game based on the Palace of Thorns event. Supposed to be a fluff list so I should have most everything I need!
Yeah my dice are fickle, though no worse than my normal opponents. Keeping your attention on the Objectives is what wins games.
Started on my Imperial Knight ( for a Friend ). Went with a black frame with a heavy metal Drybrush, Since it's an add for a SOB army, I'm doing it mostly in Red and Black with gold Trim.
I've managed to get most of he body and Arms based.
Looking good man enjoyed the pictures of the game. I like your alpha Legionnaires to look really great. Can't wait to see what else you got on the table for us to enjoy looking at.
Git’s rule fulfilled. . Started blending up the reds ( pics are a bit pink? ) and more details on the main body. Lots to do still. A lot of highlighting will be needed to bring out the edges.
The carapace is still just primed and I’ll have to wait till the temps get up before I start up the AB again. I'm looking at a black with red accents for the carapace. White and Black shoulder and leg armor.
This will be a addition for a friend of Gits and I. He plays SOB so he’s needing some longer range component to his army.
I’ve done more work since these pics. I've added a blue wash to the main metals and gun. painted the toe cps red and changed some to the cable colors from red to green ( to break up the model )
I have some bits to make a Carapace missile pod for it. I believe they are from some SOB tank.

Gir, thanks. They are my HH Legion of choice for now! I probably will expand them. I have a couple of HH vehicles on the way as well as a lot of early designed vehicles ( much like Gits Pre- crusade MW) to add to the fold. I've got a lot of re-buildingto do on the 2 Mk1 LR's. My next AL project.
Some more work on the IK. Got the reds shaded and highlighted. Started on the shoulders and leg Plates ( just managed to get the base colors on). I'm hoping to get to the Carapace, Helmet an smaller plates done this weekend then on to the Carapace mounted ML and Basing.

Like WM linked, I think some certain fingernail decals could really add punch to the design (the mini in that post is just WOW).
Alternatively you can try your hand at making decals yourself- though thats really only good for black ones, as white decal paper is a fair bit more difficult to work with.
If you need letters and numbers I can definitely recommend model RR sources. THey usually have tons of neat decals and dry transfers.
Suppose its all on what you want in the final product!
As far as Daemonettes... I think its doable. The stock pose of the kit might give you some trouble with standing it on stuff, but Im sure you can manage it.
What other sort of things are you considering for the base? Rocks and whatnot, i mean.

Looking at different sites there are alot of designs. Most of them too cute and not Grim dark enough. Though I did like the barbwire look. Next time my wife goes to the " Sallys beauty" store I might ( might ) go in. Maybe!

More progress on the IK. Pic with camera this time so the color is more accurate. First the Base WIP I went with a concrete look. I wanted to have the Knight look like it stepping over a wall. I have some dead cultist that I'll be adding as well as some more rubble.
Front.. . Still need to do the shield. Having trouble finding the ML parts I've been holding on to. Hopefully I'll find them this weekend.

Thanks.. Some more to do . The cultist will be painted Alpha Legion aligned so they tie back to me. The arms, shoulders and carapace are not glued in place yet, as I'm still doing detail work.
Also the body and legs are pinned so they can rotate yet not come apart.
If I can find my ML parts, I'll magnetize them so he can add the AA guns to it in the future

I have a slight suggestion. It is hard to tell with the pictures, but the icon painted on the base seems to be very similar to the red on the knight. Unless that is intentional I would recommend changing the color or at least the shade to something different. Otherwise I think it looks great.

It is the same color. Partially due to it was the red I was working with and Partially cause its the closest blood looking color. I might darken it up. Thanks for the suggestion.
Superb knight, nice and clean and clear. I can never decide, I have seen dirty knights and crispy knights and they all look good. I am ashamed to say I think GW have made a cracking model here, the more I see of them the more there is to love, and this is another brilliant example.
Only small point, have I got it straight, this is to go with a Sisters army? Shouldn't it have Moobs then?
I don't mean to nit pick here but I found it distracting that the bodies are still clinging onto their weapons. Nice update to the chaos red symbol thing though, much better.

I think the weapons look okay. Bit odd, but not worth worrying about too much. The wrench is definitely okay. The autogun could, perhaps, be on the ground below his hand, but then you'd need a flat hand instead of in a first too. Probably not worth the hassle.

Thanks. The ML is magnetized and the body swivels 90 deg. to the left so he can position the front where his shield are. For All purposes I'm done with her ( ok... I have one more seal to add-oops). I hope our friend likes it. It was a blast to paint.
Now to do my remaining 4 Knights. I'm thinking purple and white with the gold trim. One of each variant except the Gallant.

Got a day planned this weekend to finally get to some paint on some additional SW's I've been working on.
10 Wolves, 6 TWC, 10 GH, 4 side sponsons, 2 additional Predator turrets. Everything assembled and waiting for the liquid GS to cure. I have 2 DP I'd like to add but I'm running out of free time.

Finished base coating and highlighting AB work on the new wolves. Now on to the black work. Finished all the interiors for the 2 Drop pods. Once I get all the weathering done in the interior compartments I'll start assembling. 10 Wolves are finished as well as the 6 TWC mounts. Pics tomorrow of where I end up. Probably finish the TWCSM first as they will the the quickest to finish. I've 1 with CS and pistol, 1 with Axe and shield, I with LC and 3 with TH and shield. The additional 10 GH will need to have their load outs figured first before moving on.

Sort of seconding the addition of some burning on the bottoms and wings. You could get away without it easy enough, but adding it would give it that extra level of detail

I'm in the process of list building for the 2 Badab Narrative campaigns at Adepticon. I'll need a 1000 pt ZM list, a 1850 pt list and a 2000 pt Apoc list.

I was going to AB them but It was such a small piece I just went ahead with the brush. I think they also need to show some heat discoloration on the barrels. Darken them a bit.
So I found out I'll be needing an an additional 150 pts to my Apoc game. Since they state no power lists, but open to any formations I went with as close to a generic list as I could.
I went for the Gladius formation ( I know free stuff) but it make a well rounded mech inf force. I din't have time to paint a bunch so I went for things I currently have.

I'm Playing my Badab army tonight against YB's SW Ragnar formation ( 9 DP's all turn 1 drop ) list. While pulling the figures I need for my Gladius Formation I have realized I don't have enough Tactical Marines. Oddly this hasn't been a problem as there wasn't much need to field them but for only the two troop slots in prior editions. Plus I usually play them as BA, so I have more Assault troops than normal. So Looks like this weekend I'll be building and painting Lamenters. I blame Ice for Hexing me with his voodoo.
I'm also considering replacing the 10th Co. scouts formation in the 2nd Badab game with the ( can't recall the formation name ) LS and Whirlwind formation. If I decide to do that I'll need to add 2 Rhinos/Razorback and a LS kits to the list to do. ( I already have the ML And several boxes of LS).
Do able in 3 weeks... NP. Least I'll have more than Ramos.

Spent the weekend finishing the 9 additional marines I need to wysiwyg my Gladius formation. 3 additional Tac Marines, 2 Assault Sgts. 3 Tac Sgts and my Commander. I also had to finish the 10 SW Grey Hunter squad as they were currently using up my figure holders, so I had to get them off to finish my build.
All that's left for the Badab Games is to finish the bases of about 25 Inf. Finish painting 2 RB turrets and repair the basing on my flyers. I still have about 160 pts left to assign for the Seige (Apoc) game on Friday. Thought I maybe go with a dread or a kitted out Libby.
On the ZM front. I've got my HB Rapier to paint as well as the crew. I'll be looking at the list again to make sure I got all the points right and the right mix of figures.
On a bad note, I'm working with a poorly functioning AB. I've cleaned it multiple times and now getting nothing out of it or such poor spray I opted to paint some of my last figures by hand. Least to say I'm frustrated and not sure what next to do. Sadly I may have to purchase another as I refuse to do the next vehicles by hand.
I'm loving my Harder & Steenbeck Infinity. Just don't drop it on the nozzle. Also when cleaning over a sink use a strainer over the drain, you will save money on small parts that love to go down it.
I still swear by my Paasche Talon. Only time its ever been knocked totally out of commission was when I snapped the tip off in it.
Have you tried different tips/needles in your brush? Full disassembly and cleaning?
Could always try contacting Iwata and seeing if they have any suggestions, too.
I dont know if it would help, but maybe I can take a look at it over Adepticon? Fancy myself a bit of a tinker...
If they have a Talon at the store. I may pick it up. I have disassembled it thoroughly. Even ran it through a Sonic cleaner. I'll run it again with just a squeeze or two of simple green in the water to see if it will respond.

SL, have you checked to make sure the tip (not the needle, the thing the needle goes through) is in good shape? If the end of the tip gets chewed up the brush won't work right.

Yeah. I'll got 2 tips. Haven't looked through the magnifier to see what condition it's in. I have trouble getting the needle through the body, which leads me to believe it paint clogged still or the gasket/seal is bad. Either way it's not spraying. Probably should have gone with a less expensive brush and not so fine of a tip.
One of the tips i have is broken, So that's a problem. I've put in a New Needle as well. I got better results with spraying the cleaner through it but paint not so much. I'll give it a go again tonight with a new bottle of AB paint.
On the model count. I'm almost done with the last RB turret. Need to do some checkers on it and call it good. I'll need to finish the basing this weekend on everything.
Lastly the 1000 pt list for the Badab game on Thursday ( if I get the ZM table ). I went with mostly figures that I had in my 1850 list rather than try to put together something more substantial. This event is suppsed to be fluffy and balanced. So hopefully the other players will do the same.

Got my HB Rapier and Crew together. I finished off what I had left from my BaC box set and put together 2 more Bolter Marines, 2 HB Marines ( I really like the HB on these guys for a change. Reminds me of the old 2nd ed. ones) and an additional Sgt with PS and PP. While I was in the building mode I put together my Sciarian Tank. Had some fit issues and so I had to do a bit of GS them. After I finish basing this weekend. I'll try to get some Alpha Legion painting done.
Weekend to do list
1. Finish Razorback weapon and 1 Assault Marine.
2. HB Rapier and crew.
3. Basing. 30+figures
4. Enchant a vessel to capture Ramo's Tears for Ice and Moon.
Got the rapier yesterday SL, thanks. My God is that thing tiny! It's soooo cute! I may just hand-paint the purple parts and use wet blending to bring up the highlights... though I will need build another crewman for it so Perhaps I'll just break out the airbrush.
Looking forward to seeing you finish things up. I'm not quite panicking... but I'm close.

Told ya! I was almost tempted to strip it first. I also found a old Thudd gun that is also just as tiny. Some where I have a couple of mole mortars as well.

I also ordered some more bits. Some legs ( Not sure where I used up all the ones I had ) some HH Heads and 2 Valkyries for my Tempest. (Not liking the Taurox? ) At this point I'll probably buy another BoC set for my HH marines. I wish they would sell the spru's without all the other stuff. Not likely I'll play the game. And don't need another contemptor dread.

Worked on all the bases for my force. Including fixing the 3 Flyers. Here is the bases with the first step done.
All the remaining inf. Is done to this point. Just waiting till the glue sets up.
