So I got a nice surprise, I got out of work on time and It free'd up a couple of hrs ( after I voted of course )
I started on the Atropos Knight. Managed to get the body built and undercoated. I'll have to finish the base first as the position of the legs won't allow it to stand on it's own.
For the base I've got a rhino side that I'll have the Knight stepping on or over. I'll paint it in the Night Lords colors since I don't see many armies with these colors. As for the armor Plates I'm going to do them in orange with an edge and rivets in a purple wash.
The metal frame I going to use Jaquine's metal technique in some capacity. I have magnitized the arms though it really doesn't have any different weapon options. I guess I can switch them for looks.
Didn't take any pictures yet. but if you need to see a great painted Atropos, swing over to Nerdfest's blog and see the one he did for Ritides.
I hope not to be called in to work on our American Thanksiving, so other than preparing food I plan to get a good day of painting between Turkey basting.
Lastly I decided I couldn't wait for after the year and I need to get more stuff to fill out the HH armies (these have to be painted prior to Adepticon so best not to wait too long) .. I ordered two Spartan Land Raiders, 2 HH Proteus land Raiders, 2 Anvillius Drop pods and 3 more Jetbikes.
This I call the WM Strategy.. If you can't paint then buy.

Post by: WarbossDakka
So not jealous. Nope. Not at all.
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
Here is where I've managed to take it in the little time I have.
I used Jaquine's metal technique to some extent and it went faster than I thought.
More to do on the orange plates. The Carapace, shoulders and body plates I'll airbrush. The head is complete except for the Lenses.
Like a Warlord Titan cost?
Can and have time... different problem. I'm sneaking in early morning quick sessions to get this far. Not as enjoyable as sitting down and painting for a good couple of hours.

Thanks brother
This will be the IK for my eventual Ryza Mechanicus army ...eventually.
The orange will tone down a bit once the sealer is on. I'll be using the metallic blue ( i used for the siege dread weapons ) for the weapons, so It should have a nice Chicago Bears feel to it ( unintentionally of course )

Thanks for all the support with my moms passing. It's been helpful getting me through all the ups and downs.
Thanks all for the kind responces about the Knight. Too bad the pic color is a bit off. It looks better in orange.
I'm expecting my SM Terrain from 'Death Ray Designs' This week. So I'll have to add those to my list of things to do.
I'll try to finish the Dread DP. then I'll start building on mass all the inf. for two 30k armies. I will try to do all the builds first and then mass primer, mass base... ect.
On Other note.. At Adepticon the "Wardens of the Maelstrom" will be in mass ( missing only 2 folks ), so we are going to do a MoaB battle. This year it will be a Imperial Knight fight. Each Warden will field a knight, divide into to teams and battle it out. I am thinking about doing some terrain for it, something on the theme of the old 'Titanicus' buildings. We'll see. If your attending Adepticon Late Sat night ( Registration starts next week), Come out and meet and great ( Git will be available for autographs). Rules to follow. Will be binging additional IK for those who don't have one yet.
Ok lots to do. Wardens get your armies ready ( Ramos!! )

Just a shout-out to the Wardens and anyone else who might want to hang out with us at Adepticon.
There's a "team" event that is supposed to focus on the hobby aspect of the game on Friday I think. There are no details but only the team captain has to pay for the event. I'm planning on bringing my Halloween army for the event & Thing 1 and I will be playing. Anyone else who wants to join us is welcome (apparently there's no limit to the number of team members). We may just all be playing the one army... in which case, the more the merrier!
I'll have an extra knight as well.

Been traveling all week. Get back tonight. Looking at getting the first steps in the Reaver build this weekend.
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
Thus it has begun!
From my camera phone so I didn’t have a moment to crop or clean these up.
Working on the body now.. I decided not to include the inner workings, Servitors ect as I’ll probably glue this up tight. I’ll still do the Princip and Moderati though. I’ll probably use the tech priest on the base.
lot more to add to the base as well.. It'll need some tech guard or Marines running around.
I went for a more gunfighter pose. Slightly hunched back like recoiling, since this is essentially a gun platform. So far the body and carapace are stable. I Magnetized the torso joint so it'll break down into 2 halves.

Gitsplitta wrote:I'm getting very excited about this project. What are you using for your base color? i.e. the dark metallic shown here
This is just a base coat flat black. The shine is coming from the glare of the lights. I'll probably use the same techniques I used on the Atropos Knight - Multiple metal colors and Washes ( Jaquine's ) . Due to the large metal areas there will be some of my standard break up of metal types. ( Shafts, cables & pistons ect ). I'll probably match one of the Reavers in the Badab book for Color References.

Heya, not checked in for a while, so missed the proper time to say condolences, so belated condolences.
I really like those craters. I need to do something similar eventually.
The knight is really well painted, but I'm not quite sure about it yet. Will it have iconography and whatnot? I reckon it would look better with white or black and white, rather than just black or another drak colour. Reaver is a big project! Good luck!
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
Fifty.. Thanks..
I love the craters too. Since I field a lot of Vehicles I get a lot of use out of them.
When you say 'knight' are you talking the Atropos or the Reaver Titan? The Reaver will be mostly Black with white accents. Though the load out will be different.
Here is what i'm using as a reference. That and the Warhound Ramos painted for Whalemusic.

Made some progress..
Slowly working on getting all the metals done on the left leg. Working my way up and around to the hip, then I'll start on the other leg. This way I have something to hold while trying to get at all the part not easy to reach. There is so much gold Trim that it take a while to finish any section. Have to pace myself or I'll start to get sloppy.
I also started on the weapons while waiting for the paint to dry on the legs.
Added some rivets to the steel plates on the base and will re-prime
Started working on the head, but having trouble on determining which of the cables included go where. The instructions are kinda vague, Frustrating, will have to go intranet looking for decent pics.

The boys will be available for two weeks while they're on winter break. They're both asking me for projects, unfortunately all of my terrain pieces are built... so they're available as slave labor for the right bidder. Automatically Appended Next Post: Actually, come to think of it I think Thing 1 will be occupied. Last Adepticon I bought a huge laser-cut set-up for something like a space hulk game. We'd planned on using it more for the other game who's name I can't remember at the moment (something zone?) that can take place under similar circumstances. Recently however we've thought (with all the SM buildings) that it would be cool to "mirror" the table with a bunch of underground structures and tunnels, effectively creating a two-level table for our battles.
While you couldn't really do this in a normal time limit... at home our games go on for days as we just play when we have the time, which would lend itself very easily to utilizing both above ground and under ground battle spaces. So I think his plan for vacation is to work on more of these rooms and tunnels so we can try our master plan out.

Cold as the outside minus windchill.. too damn cold!
JatW and BC - Thanks. This has been a fun project; though I didn't do any of the interior work ( trying to keep it a simple as possible, besides it plays no part in the game and I'd like it to be a solid as possible) it was cool to see this come together.
Next up like aforementioned.. Finish the other weapons ( carapace Launcher & turbo laser, the other arm laser blaster ), glue the arm mounts ( weapons are magnetized) into their final position. Finish the base. Lastly determine if I magnetized the head or glue it on permanently.

Looking forward to the final Adepticon build. This titan with 2 arm mounted laser blasters and a Carapace mounted turbo blaster can put out 8 D shots per turn technically 8 to 24 wounds each round. Pure Titan killer. it's main role is to protect WM Warlord by being too big a threat to ignore.
Praise the Emperor !
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
Got the carapace Turbo Laser mount complete and primed last night. The fit was a bit loose so I put some magnets in the carapace mount to keep it in place. The weapon is so front heavy due to the length of the barrels and I had to redo it with larger and more powerful magnets to keep it in place. Not ideal but hopefully this will prevent it from falling off.
A couple more touch ups with the main body ( namely the waist pistons ), glue the arms in place ( again - weapons magnetized ), glue the carapace, shoulder armor and Head into their final positions. Lastly finish the base.
I'm thinking of adding the Tech Engineer somewhere on the base since the main body will be closed shut.

Thanks Alaricuk, It actually feels like it taking a long time to finish. but it's something special so I'm not too frustrated. So having said that...Here's to finishing the Titan in 2016.Some pic's on Monday to start off the new year in proper form.
Best to all of you in the New Year.

Looking good, Solar, though I'm looking forwards to more pictures tomorrow.
Do you think it has enough firepower there?

Post by: Solar_lion
The loadout is specific to the Adepticon game of just Titans. So built to take out those Shifty Eldar Titans. I have the more traditional option for other use.
This titan with 2 arm mounted laser blasters and a Carapace mounted turbo blaster can put out 8 D shots per turn technically 8 to 24 wounds each round (If it hits and gets through). Pure Titan killer. it's main role is to protect WM Warlord
as mentioned.. the more traditional loadout
Lastly a size comparison for your enjoyment
On to WE Marines....

How was mounting the Warhound arm up top? You'll have about the same firepower as me for the Titan game with that loadout.
If you sweet talk Ramos, he might have some extra decals for the Titan legion.

I used a 20mm magnets to hold it in place, otherwise it's too barrel heavy. I had to scratch build the gun mount and close the mounting hole at the top as the gun looked strange upside down.
Still with all that fire power you'll have the 'WOW' threat factor. You also have the VS and HP to back it up.
Cool I'll see if Ramos would bring it to AC and put it on for me all professional wise.

inmygravenimage wrote:That really is stunning work indeed, and I can see how aesthetically cohesive it will look towering over your lamenters also. Excellent stuff!
... and blowing them up.. This was on the opposite side during the Badab war. The Lamenters never faced the loyalist Titans, They were knocked out of the conflict before the siege took place. It is the same legion as WM's Warhound painted by Ramos and soon to be added Warlord!

Started building WE inf. So far we are at 50 MkIII, Ten Tartaros Terminators. Still need to determine the exact load outs. I guessing mobs of bolters and chainaxes to start.

Depressingly red, from my understanding. Not a proper Badab Titan.

There was only 1 Titan Legion in the Badab War, Legio Crucius aka the Legion SL and I use.

Post by: Solar_lion
From the warhammer wiki...
The Legio Crucius (Warmongers) is a Loyalist Titan Legion of the Collegia Titanica, one of the military arms of the Adeptus Mechanicus. There is very little information in Imperial records about this Titan Legion, though it is known to have been founded before the Horus Heresy, either during the Age of Strife or the Great Crusade. This Titan Legion has its great Perceptory and base of operations at Ryza, a major Forge World within the Segmentum Ultima.
WM Warlord is 'Hell's Daughter'. Hell's Daughter - A Warlord-class Titan commanded by High Princeps Cadmon Krom during the final Loyalist assault on Badab Primaris during the Badab War.
Mine is modeled after: Astramos Mortis Æternem - A Reaver-class Titan of the Legio Crucius which took part in the Badab War.

Ah, didn't know any of that.
No, my titans are more targeted towards supporting my AdMech than my marines. I have two knights that I'm planning on basing to go with my marines but those are already painted, so there's nothing I can do there.
Perhaps if I find another knight I just have to own, I'll do it in proper Legio Crucius colors... but if it's a loyalist legion... it probably wouldn't have fought on the side of the rebels anyway.

Titan looks great SL! Congrats on finishing it off - and so quickly as well. Look forward to hearing about how it does in battle later at adepticon.

Post by: Solar_lion
Thanks Egg. I didn't think it went very fast. (As I look at the 70 tactical WE Inf I need to do next. ) I'll be happy to take out a single Eldar titan. Or at least give as good as I get. That and making sure my leader survives. I'll get pictures and if possible a battle report.
Proper Titan colors...
This works well for me... "This Titan Legion has its great Perceptory and base of operations at Ryza," and as my eventual Ad Mech army will be Ryza, it'll come full circle.

Thanks guys.
Did a quick paint up of some Imperial cargo containers. Painted them to match the rusted look of all my other terrain. I'll Get some Pics when the weather gets above 10 degrees. Currently it's 2 with windchill at -18.
From now till Adepticon I'll be only building and Painting World Eaters. On the list is 90+ inf ( HQ's included),10 Tartaros Terminators, 3 Jetbikes, 2 Contemptor Dreads, 1 Siege Dread, 2 Landspeeder Javelins, 2 Proteus Land Raiders ( I'll repaint the 2 AL ones I started ), 1 LR Spartan, 1 HH Drop Anvillius Drop pod.
11 weekends ( since I don't get much done during the week.). This is pretty much a fluff WE list.. Lots of Chainaxe wielding Marines who remained Loyal to the Emperor. So no Kharn or Angron
All for my buddy free of charge. ( cause he's a nice guy and a real life Marine). I have about the same no. of figures lined up to supplement my Alpha Legion HH army. That can wait. Deadline approaching.
I'll probably Start a new Blog. Here's hoping for Warmer weather. Like in the 40's. Heat wave!

Unlikely. It'll be table top. I have been piled on at work and my free time even on weekends are minimal at best. I have a color theme and work process so I'm hoping I can get through with time to so some special details. I'm still waiting for the majority of heavy Vehicles. Still lots of inf to build fist so not panicking.

Thanks, It is a lot but usually I do the Adepticon Team tourney displays, so that's why the other years past is noticeably less. Since we don't play in that anymore I get more of my stuff ( and my buds) done.

Thanks. I am pretty happy with the result. I didn't do any of the interior as I wanted less moving and falling off parts. I'll have these pieces available for other projects. Here's to scoring at least a Titan kill in the Apoc Titanicus battle at Adepticon.
Elnibbus wrote:Jings crivens! That's an impressive amount of work for the year! Kudos to you Solar_Lion
Thanks Elnibbus, 109 figures counting...1 Titan , 6 Imperial Knights, 5 Dreads and 16 pieces of terrain. Yet I have still a lot to do in 2017.
As I mentioned.. World Eaters.. for a buddy of mine, I have adjusted from my original plan. More Inf, less other fillers. So...
1. Over 90 regular Marines, Between 25 and 35 chainaxe equipped, A couple of squads of Heavy's Most likely ML and LC, 20 or so odd Special weapon marines. Probably volkite , plasma and meltas. What's left will be regular bolters marines.
2. 10 Termies. Mostly CC. 4 out of 10 will be LC, 1 reaper cannon. Chainfists and Powerfists.
3. 2 Dreads (I have decided to wait on the siege Dread ) One claw and Melta/ or AC. One Relic with undetermined load out.
4. Transports. 2 LR Proteus, 1 Spartan LR, and one Anvillus Drop pod
5. Fast attack. 3 Jet bikes, unknown load out, 1 LS Javelin unknown load out.
6. HQ's at least 3 ( one terminator) 2 Apoths.
Then the plan is terrain. I have a mess of 'Death Ray Designs' Space Marine MDF to assemble and Paint.
I also have some Warasenal MDF terrain to finish. This should go nicely together.
An additional Bastion to finish... and who knows what I'll pick up at Adepticon.
Work on my Alpha legion. Pretty much identical to the WE army above.
Then finish out the year with a totally different army. Year end Surprise.
Mark, get set.. go...

Dysartes wrote:Sounds an ambitious plan for the year, Solar - where do you begin?
This will be a Loyalist army of WE's that were betrayed. So no Angron or Kharn. Not sure how effective it'll be but I think it's well rounded and still fluffy.
I've started the WE Inf build. Trying to determine what is the best use of the inf figures I have. With the WE rules the normal Inf Marines gets access to a free Chainaxe in addition to his traditional Bolter and Bolt pistol. So I'm assuming that this has no disadvantage to take. It'll add a 2nd CC weapon giving an additional attack. Most likely this will be the load out of the majority of my squads. I'll probably start with filling out the special weapon squads just to get them filled out and complete. I'll be doing a Melta, plasma and Volkite squad. Not sure if I'll go above 5 per squad at first. I'm also planning a Heavy ML squad and either a Las-cannon or HB squad. The rest will end up being blobs of Chainaxe/ Bolters. In 30K you can wield larger squads ( 20 or 30? ) of tacticals so these will be the main units in the army. These will be delivered to the battlefield in the 2 Proteus land Raiders (10?) and Spartan LandRaider (30?)
The 10 Tarturos terminators are built. mostly all CC with the exception of one with a Reaper AC, They will be in the Anvillius Drop pod.
1 Dread already built. Need to magnetize the one arm for the melta or Assualt cannon. The Other dread hasn't arrived.. I'm splurging for the WE FW dread.
I haven't figured out what load out the Jet bikes or the LS will be .. ( or what load out I bought) they still are in their respective packages.
I still need to purchase the apoths.
The question will be can I get this done before Adepticon.. It's looking questionable.
Thanks EDC and Cleatus. I like to get to it, but this darn making a living is so time consuming!
I have about the same numbers of Units designated for my Alpha legion. Though it will also include a Scarian ( needing some more work ) a Siege dread, boarding Marines and some units of other chapters squads ( Ultra's, Salamanders, and Emperor's children) that I get to use as being infiltrators.

Thanks JATW, Time will be the barrier to getting this done in time.
Build continues.
Bikes done, LS done, siege and regular Dread done, 5 man Melta, 5 man Volkite, 5 man ML done. Termies Done.I
10 tacs with chainswords done. At least 30 left to go, maybe 40. this build is the most difficult as I have to kitbash every figure.
Still waiting on my LR's and Drop pod. Found a regular Pod I can use if I get through the rest.

Post by: Dysartes
That's a lot of building done, Solar.
I'm still deciding where to begin on my HH stuff. I think I'm settled on Ultramarines, with a copy of BOP and BAC for basic infantry, along with a few FW bits I couldn't resist.
Starting point may have to be the limited release Ultramarine with Plaques on a Stick...

Post by: Solar_lion
Ultra's have some very good units and rules. Good choice. And you can play them both in 40k and 30k. Very universal. If you need anything let me know . I'll probably have some spare stuff after the builds. Just ordered another 180$ worth of FW stuff to add to the colection. Namely weapon sets and guns; Lots of guns.
The World Eaters Army is a gift for a friend of mine. He has recently joined Dakka as ' Chaplaingunther' Please ping him and make him feel welcome. He is a true Marines Marine ( in real life). Thanks for your service buddy. Hope you like the Army so far.

I'll be bringing my Lamenters as WM and I are playing in a 2 man tourney on Friday. I'll have to put some time getting a list together. Need to get up to speed on the latest formations.
I'll be taking losts of pics of armies, games and our Group the Wardens at Adepticon. Also of our internal game ' Knight fight' . Wardens fighting Wardens on Saturday night. If your intrested in the rules check out the ' Knight Fight' blog. See you all after Adepticon.

Good Final weekend ( except getting called in for work )
Finished the last painting details. Basing, List building & printing of said list.
Everything packed. I have 6 bags of figures.. 2 Lamenters Battlefoam bags , 2 World Eaters, 1 container of 5 Imperial Knights, and a container for the Reaver Titan.
All the books assembled.. SM codex, rule book, IK book, 2 red HH books. Templates ( including Apoc ones ) Dice, MODCUBES !!, Cards for maelstome & Psychics. Camera Batteries charged. All I need is clothes packed and I'm set.
So what's in the works.. I bought the Ultra Marine Primarch that I'm going to lamenterize. Started removing the UM symbols on the shoulder, Took some of the over excessive trim off both knees, groin, butt and thigh plates. I'll probably do him in Lamenter yellow but will need to watch what I do with the remaining metal trim as I don't want to just look like a yellow/gold blur. It'll be a option when I play my Lamenters using the SM codex.

Post by: Solar_lion
I play a lot of games with the SM vanilla codex, so It's just another option. Since I'll run him with his Primarch Stats; it should at least look like it belongs to the army.
Much to ponder.. not high on the priority list. A lot will depend on how much and what I decide to pick up at Adepticon... So far I have a few HH tanks I'd like to get; but we'll see. Currently the plan is to start a completely new army this summer then on to filling in my Alpha Legion this fall.
Unless something arises, this is it till I return from Adepticon. Any Wardens needing to contact me give me a call. See you after the Dance!

Thanks for stopping by GP.. Dakka has an amazing collection of blogs with inspiring stuff.
Not sure what's next.. still recovering from AC. You can check out the 'Wardens Adepticon Post event blog' for highlights
So now that Adepticon is over I stat getting back to the normal.. Whatever that is. So what on for the year ahead ( my year always starts after Adepticon..BAC or AAC.
Bought a bunch more terrain at AC, More of the Death Ray Designs SM collection. SO I guess that should be the first as I hadn't gotten to the stuff I bought last year. More Glue, more paint.
After that I have a 40k 1000 son army I'd like to use against my mates Space wolves. I got a a bunch purchased but I need to develop a list to work off of.
As I just completed a World Eater army for a friend I literally bought 2 of everything so I have a matching slew of them to do .. 80 troops, Anvillus drop Pod, 2 contemptor dreads including a siege leviathan. 3 Land raiders, LR Spartan
Land speeder , Jet bikes and lots of special weapon squads. This years big Adepticon purchase was the Super Heavy Typhon tank. ( basically a vindicator on a LR body )
Was given a couple of MKIII Land raiders in the box as well as some early original Rhino's and an open top 1st generation RB. A first plastic Land speeded and a complete box with models of the 1st ed. box set ' Space crusade' . Funny static scouts with HB as big as they are. The old Nids ( with the skinny necks.. too funny.
Picked up some Arena Rex figures and handed them off to Ramos. The Medusa character that will be converted to St. Celestine and and the serpent figure that will be used as a demon prince in 40K.
Lastly got some bases for my eventual Mechanicus army and the pair of the FW event only models (both 30K).
Keep buying so I'll just keep painting... Stay tuned.

Yes.. I've been still buying even though no time to paint.
I'll reveal my new Army after I've got the 8th rules in my hand. I'm curious if I've spent my money wisely.
I've managed to get all 5 Pillboxes, Landing Pad, and a Bunker to playable standard. Wow I bought a lot of SM terrain.

Hmmm... that narrows it down quite a bit. You've already got Crons, Orks and Eldar. Makes it Spikey Eldar, Bugs or Tau then.

Yeah.. good call. Some additional weathering or battle damage. It'll wait till though till I get all the pieces to this level so I can remain consistent.
I'll reveal after I get the new rules.

Thanks. Yeah alot more I could do with these. so far no time has opened up.
Still on the positive side I got my recent order.. 5 new HH SM jetbikes, an additional HH Landspeeder ( LC ), The HH Flyer and the FW Sword Knight that I plan to assemble and Paint for my brother. I also got two more Imperial Knights which I plan to go to some friends as gifts.
I have a few more Items to get for my HH Alpha Legion. An additional Anvillus Drop pod. Some additional Jetbikes ( to increase my 2 squads of 3 to 5 ) and some other chapters cool special units ( Alpha Legion infiltration ).

Sounds like your summer is all planned out!
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
No Plan.. Unless you count real life work and Summer property chores. I have till next March to get my Brothers Knight done. And the two other knights for gifts, I'm not assembling or painting. They are getting the model to do as they will.
I did spend some time cleaning my Workroom, tossing stuff I' thought I save for future projects ( that I'll most likely never get too) and reorganizing. Kinda painful to put all the old 40K books together and realize how much money I spent ( A lot of 6th and 7th books .. Yikes ). Now all useless. Especially just after I shelled out for all the new 8th edition stuff. I pulled all my collection of White Dwarf as well. I think the oldest one I have is edition 80. I have most of the 100 and 200 range. So funny too look back at the Models and Painting back then . Vechicle Data cards, Wargear cards. Chaos Space dwarfs...
I'd like to get my Alpha Legion Army built and Primed before the summer ends. This should be a massive army that over takes my Lamenters in size and points. Then the same for my new army. Hopefully by then I'll be well versed in the 8th edition rules and have an Idea what works and what doesn't.

I hear ya brother... I should take a pick of just the books. I think I picked up the 6th edition special rule set. Hardback.. Useless. Still in mint condition. Never again.

All most all of the books that are now useless. Quite an investment. I’m sure there are many out there like me.
Had some time ( due to raining ) to work on a project I was playing with about 6 months ago.
WIP camera Shots….
Sill a lot of details to do. Gold jewelry, blue flames Teeth and nails, lastly bases. I have 20 of them and the appropriate number of Blue and Brimstone guys in the works ( someday in the future )
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
A bit more done on the Pink horrors. Here is the most complete to date.. Still a few things to do . a bit of gloss for the tongue and the eyes & some gem work
I haven't decided how to base them yet. I ordered some various texturing modeling pastes to try.
26790
Post by: Gitsplitta
Nice job on the pink horrors. You know there's a Tzeench build that is neigh impossible to defeat...
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
This is not where I'm going with these. Most of the Tzeench armies are fielding Blue Horrors ( I assume you can get them without having them start pink - I haven't gotten my books yet ) with mass brimstone Horrors for infinite damage absorption.
These 20 (and the appropriate number of Blue & Brimstone ) were for my Chaos army eventual build as summoning in the 7th. I'll stick with trying to build a decent normal list ( and probably get slaughtered ) first.
My concept was Alpha legion (using my HH build ) with lots of cultist and a small TS detachment. Still these were fun to build and paint till all my new army models arrive.

Very Snazzy. Very pink. looking forward to the gems et al!
93572
Post by: Yorkright
Pinks are looking great Solar, brimstones with a blue are the cheapest unit that can cast a smite on 5+ with one dice. I think the cost is only 20 pts for a ten model unit. Looking forward to seeing how the rest come out.

Post by: wyomingfox
Gitsplitta wrote:Nice job on the pink horrors. You know there's a Tzeench build that is neigh impossible to defeat...
Is it so un-defeatable if you are limited to two detachments? I believe it was suggested for match play that 2000 points should be limited to two detachments, which I would think would limit some of the shenanigans.
26790
Post by: Gitsplitta
I'm not sure. I haven't seen the list myself, just know that Ben's been running it & dominating with it. I have a vague idea what's in it but no idea exactly how it's constructed.
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
The one I saw was 3 detachments. (2000 pts Tzeentch demons by Engio ) is the list thread
Got all my books ( except FW ) so deep into reading. Weekend will be limited in hobby time.

And.... got my first 2 FW books..
Dare not evaluate without knowing how the rules play. Somethings stood out.. Warlord titan .. 70 wounds. Probably right.. just odd to see that stat.

It had 20 hull points and 6 void shields before, so makes sense.

Got my first Game in of the 8th edition. 1000 pts. My Necrons vs Git's Mechanicus. Got crushed. Love the look of massed necron troops marching across the field, but not straight into the Mechanicus gun line.
Like the mechanics of the game but I think army and unit selection plays a bigger portion of the game than the 7th. For sure the new edition did nothing to fix the power lists. I liken it to bringing more FOC's closer to a Quasi Unbound direction. I think match ups in general will be mostly one sided due to the availability of the possible builds. especially in tourneys. I'm thinking nightmarish for the casual player. We'll see as more games get played.
I'm guessing the spontaneous pick up game culture will be rife with only the uber competitive players. If you want a fun friendly game your gonna have to do so pre-work with your opponent.
I'll get a rematch in a couple of weeks.

Got the next two FW books in the mail on Monday. Imperial and Xeno's. Some Blogs are reporting on a lot of major Errors or bad editing. Still nice to see where they are going with FW models.
Not much painting even with the holidays. Managed to get all 20 Pink Horrors done with the exception of the bases. Need to clear off my photo area so I can take some pics. It still has all the Adepticon swag as well as all the X-wing stuff I went overboard buying. Next up 25 more Necron Warriors and a couple of Ghost Arcs.
Continue to purchase for my new army. I guessed incorrectly on some model counts for some units, so I'll have to re-evaluate and reorder to make it legal.
Wow it's already July. I'm way behind on what I want done this year.

Finished assembling 40 Blue Horrors ( enough to have for the 20 pink horror to split ) and 40 Brimstone. Got the Blues primed, based and washed. Now on to drybrushing.
Was only planning to used them as a TS detachment for my Alpha Legion Chaos SM army. Not sure how to add them to what in the 8th. At this point just getting them out of the que.

Yeah but I have to find someone to play with .. sadly paining is all I can manage in the wasteland.
Most Likely these will be used by Yellowbeard before I get a viable reason to field them. He's been wanting to do a Tzeentch demon army for long while. ( but I'm not giving them to him nor did I paint them for him - but he can use them anytime)

Thanks.. Yes I work a lot, yes, a bit too much ( that's why I paint so little and only to table top) .... And for the record you cannot have too much money, only poor money choices. That Said.. my Reaver is probably as far up the food chain I'll go. My Titan is part of a ' Proper' Badab mantiple of which WM holds the principle Titan in our group. Maybe a Warhound someday. I do occasionally feel the need to help/ gift out my fellow Warders. Hopefully I see the result of them actually painting something I sent you ( you know who you are!! )

Yeah.. I do think they turned out well for my standard...As soon as I get more than a few blues to the completed mark I'll get some pic's. I got a little more done this weekend The bodies are done. Tongues ( Orange ) are done. On to the teeth, nails and jewelry.

I feel like you might be opening the flood gates. What would it count as? Why couldn't a Paladin be an Atropos then? The game is confusing enough without having to remember what something counts as, everything should be wysiwyg imo.

I see your point. Valid concerns. Not sure if the potential 8th rewrite will change the game.. Damn GW ! So much for playtesting it last year.
I guess I'm leaning ... If we ran out of spare IK for folks I could see allowing ' Count as'. Though I don't see me doing this in any game other than a Wardens game.

Yeah, I thought this was just for fun between friends. If so, my magnetized Wraith Knight can be equipped with a sword (Reaper Chain sword), a big gun (Rapid Fire Battle Cannon), a shield (Ion Shield), and two small guns (Heavy Stubbers)... so would fit the Base Paladin fine.
If this is some kind of event, then no, I wouldn't ask.

It isn't an official event, but with 12-14 people in one game, it gets a bit hectic. It'd be like trying to run a counts as in Apocalypse, it's really hard for everyone to be on the same page.

Post by: Solar_lion
Being the first time we did this I thought it went pretty well. Once we got the hang of the turns it went much faster. Even those whom normally don't play much (or at all ) seemed to have a good time. With the exception of the Moonpie Incident ( for which I take full responsibility ) folks seemed to have fun.
I'm guessing that this next year it should be a little better now that the 'D' weapon isn't in play and quite a few folks have IK's of their own. I still like to hear from more folks if they are in for it.
I'm not sure I'll be able to get the same terrain as I haven't heard anything. If all fails I'll come up with something.
Depending on if I can get the rules balanced I am still considering it as an official event for Adepticon. A lot depends on what the requirements are and if I can get help.
We should probably move this discussion to the 'Knight Fight ' Blog as folks will be fooled that there is actually something happening with my Lamenters

I'll be bringing Nids and Necrons. I'll get my first crack at a Primus only SM army and a Death Guard army. I plan to do a fairly swarmy Nid list just to play to the fluff. My Necrons will be more competitive. The SM player insists on 3000 pts game so he can bring what he deems an appropriate showing of Primus might (Cheese)

There should be Wardens around and we all kinda 'hang' when we can. Can't guarantee that anyone wants to be 'latched onto'. But I get it. There should be something going on at all times. I'm planning 3 official event games of Knight Fight ( not including the Wardens game on Saturday) and that always requires help if you want too. Gits is running a Bushido tourney. I plan to do the full size Titannicus game. I have about four 40k games lined up and fill in the rest with spending time with my Brother, Xwing, 'hanging' with the Wardens, ohhh and food ( lots of Udon - curse you Ramos.... No thank you Ramos... repeat)
Now back to the hobby.. finishing up a unit of Hormagants and the remaining Genestealers. After that all that remains are 3 Biovores with scratch built Sporemines, a Lictor and 10 Gargoyles. Like I said fluffy. I'll post some unit pics and promise to post a Army shot when completed.
Then on to upgrading my Crons. (Lots to build.). After that a complete set of a ruins for a friend. Additional detailing work on the Knight Fight board, Then on to my Warlord Titan. Which I hope to play in the Full scale Titannicus game at Adepticon.

I also got 2 Powerfists. I know a totally emptional cool decision. Ramos said he like to run it with 2 PF's. Be intreresting to see.. I'll Magnitize the weapons so I can switch out as needed.
I have to finish my Nids and Crons first. Automatically Appended Next Post: Yorkright wrote: Nids look great Solar. If I get to Adepticon next year I would love to play in the Knight game.
Always welcome. We sometimes have no shows that I ask the Wardens to step in to make sure the full no of players is in the game. As for the Wardens only game you are officially invited.
Hope to see you there.

Had 4 Days off and did only a wee bit of painting. Finished the Hormagants, the Lictor and the remaining 16 Genestealers. Only 10 Gargoyles and 3 Biovores with their Sporemines.
When completely done I'll have to base them in my jungle theme. That will take some time.
My buddy and his son just finished a game yesterday. SM vs DG. Least to say the Primus Marines with Powerful Repulsors wiped the DG. These are powerful tanks. 30 some points more than a LR with 40+ shots each? I suspect a tough slog for my Nids.

Yeah, won't be any better than anyone else. I suppose if you're going to ret-con the old marines, you have to make the new marines too powerful to resist.

True. I have too much old marines to now invest in a new/newer version. I suspect GW will phase the old out in the next few editions; or at least produce no more of the older kits. I'll miss the 'Beekies'.
Finishing up the build of the last Tyranid units I need. 10 more Gargoyles. Then I have to decide to go purchase 3 new Biovores or eBay an old edition one. I have 2 of those so I only need one..

Getting close to finishing my 10 Gargoyles. Hopefully by the weekend I'll have an army pic to show.
In the meantime while waiting for paint to dry. I got a reduced price AoS monster that I thought I could turn into a Giant Chaos Spawn. So I started filling in the fantasy section to make it more 40k and a bit more Nurgly. Still WIP

Thanks Y'all.
The Spawn will be holding a primus marine in its right hand and be half swallowing a Primus Sargent. I'm waiting for Gunther's Primus Marine theme so I can copy them for this beast. Causing tension between Father and son. It's a gift.
ps. I'm people like Graven...paying attention!

Nice work on the spawn, and the flying gribblies are looking nice as well. I really should spend some time on my airbush skills ...
