I did that slight variation so I could distinguish the different squads of Gargoyles. Same with my Genestealers and Gaunts.
That way I'm on the up and up when they move or removed.
My Necrons are in bad shape. I may need to replace a bunch. I'm thinking I'll be repainting them. My list has a lot of new builds so this might be a good time.

Back.... Finished my 3 Biovores. Next to finish the spore mines and lastly basing. I bought a good amount of Battlefoam based on my list so hopefully I have chosen wisely.
Started repainting my Necrons. Added a bronze drybrushing to the theme. Definitely gives them more of a worn out look. Most of the larger models I'll be painting in peices so it will take me a while to show an finished product. Like my Nids I'm adding some color to units so I can easily identify who belongs to what unit.
Lastly I got my Warlord yesterday. Haven't had time to unbox, but looking forward to getting it started over the Holiday time off.

So. Repaint repaint & repaint. Here's what I got finished over the weekend. 2x20 warriors. Bronzed them up s little. Made sure each unit has a different color clear plastic rod so I can keep track of who is who's unit. Finished 8 of the 12 Destroyer's, 4 more to go. Touched up my 2 flyers and lastly updated my female Destroyer Lord. Stalker repainted as well.
Going to finish the last 4 Destroyer's, then move back to finishing my Nids. 2 larger models. 1 week before Vacation.

Post by: Solar_lion
The Destroyer's have the turquoise on either side of the body. This way I can easily identify which ones belong to what unit if I run them as a large group. Large mass of reserection capable Destroyer's led by a Destroyer Lord should be effective.
Back to Nids. Tyrannocyte up next.
Bought another Titan. price was too good to pass up. This on being a Lucius Warhound. Thought it would be cool since FW isn't making them anymore. It'll probably wait till after Adepticon. I need to have the Warlord finished for the 28mm Titan event. If I can pull it off I offered Ramos the spot to run it with his Apocalyptic launchers and 2 powerfists loadout concept. Or as I call it the Wolverine loadout.
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
Update.
Finished the 2 Tyrannocyte's, 20 homemade Sporemines. I'm thinking I should do 4 more just to be sure I have enough per turn.
Finished all the Destroyer's, now I have a two 6 model squads. 1 out of 2 Deathmarks squads, 10 Immortal's, 0verlord and 1 of two Crypteks complete. My only GhostArk and 1 of 2 Doomsday Arks finished. Repainted both Annilliation barges.
Remaining ... 1 Doomsday Ark, 5 Deathmarks, Cryptek and 10 additional warriors. Basing over half my Nids.
I'll take some pics of everything when completed. My photo table currently is staging all my Nids list. Hopefully I can finish these remaining items in the next couple of days. Thus I can have a couple of days Cleaning up the Warlord.
Adepticon is about 12 weekends Away.

Happy New year friends. This day marks the 7th decade, 2 century's and 2 millennia I have lived in.
On the Adepticon front. I have finished assembling and painting both my armies for Adepticon. One Tyranid and one Necron. Finished the remaining Doomsday Ark, 20 additional Warriors, 5 Deathmarks, 2nd Cryptek and a large unit of Tombblades. And still with one day of vacation left.
Next I'll finish basing my Nids, sealcoat everything and start loading foam. This year I may actually be pressed for space. I have to bring 3 Titans, a foldable 4x8 table, multiple battle foam bags with 2 armies, 14 imperial Knights, all the Knight Fight boards and Buildings. Possibly some terrain for our pickup 40k games. This is why I needed to stay on schedule.
Anyway... may the new year bring happiness, health and motivation for all those projects on your to do list.

Ah. Another long night, but I was determined to finish my 2 Armies. Basing is complete on my Nids. Necron Army is repainted. Just need a bit warmer weather and I'll sealcoat everything and start figuring out how it all gets packed.
With that complete, I started unpacking the Warlord. Tomorrow I'll start cleaning off the mold release and resin nubs. I've got two different heads so I might use the original head as a trophy for the powerfist. A Shakespeare 'poor Yourick' moment.

She's affectionately known as Gwendolyn. And yes there is a back story of which Gits is probably the only one who knows.
She however needs a proper High Gothic name. So I introduce the Name The Warlord contest officially open.
1. Must not be pornographic or sexually offensive.
2. Must only be two words
3. Must sound High Gothic. Provide the intended English translation.
4. I will pickmy top choices for a vote.
5 . You can enter as many times as you want, however first come first serve.
6. All entries must be submitted before she is finished. (Painting included). She needs to commissioned before Adepticon.
7. And most importantly... Be worthy of a God Machine.
The winner will get a prize (Beyond naming rights).

Sol Invictus. Literal translation is the unconquered sun. There is some Roman god background there, and is the patron saint of soldiers.
Vae Victis. Literal is woe of the conquered. It refers an idea in line with “no quarter given nor expected” and is in line with a total victory.

Looking forward to the weekend. Ordered magnets for the body and arms. I have some tight tolerances for the weapon mounts. Hopefully the drilling goes smoothly. I'll only get one shot at it so if I crack or break the resin I'll be screwed.
One of the more difficult parts to building the Warlord is the leg pose. It has to be stable and level to support the torso. I've elected to do so without a base like WM's Warlord. ( They are meant to be in the same legion ).

More work on the legs. The JB weld didn't hold on one side, so I took the opportunity to reposition a bit. Re-glued. Hopefully it will hold.
Started to dry fit all the carapace bits and found a lot of warp in spots. So I spent a lot of time heating and refitting parts. I think I got it to where I can start assembling, but I need to wait till I get my magnet order.
Started assembling weapons, I'll have available Plasma, Volcano cannon, Apoc missile launchers, and a powerfist for each arm. I'm going to try and make the left powerfist holding the head of another Warlord Titan. I plan on using the Lucius- alpha pattern head, so I have the Mars one to use. I'll have to add cabling and trailing wires to look like it was ripped off. Such grand plans.

Slow weekend. Had another project come up so not much time on the Warlord as I hoped.
Managed to get the torso magnetized and dry fitting of the pieces that go on it. Plasma reactors? Fitted and drilled the pinning holes for the arm mounts and did some more work on the guns; namely magnetizing the armor plate for the Volcano cannon.
Started painting the Sunfurt plasma in between glue drying.

Back at work, though tomorrow I'm modeling for sure. Plan is to finish the super structure and get it all primed. Then I will tackle what I consider the second most stressful part of the build... Magnetizing the arms an weapons.
I don't want to have to repair, reenginner or in any way have a ' do over'. If I get it right. I'll move on to priming armor plates.
I will post pics.

I put that out there to folks in general. I mean it's great to be able to swap out. But how often do you. Is it something that really matters. Or do you end up using the same weapons setup most times.

Most likely you don't swap out stuff. Where it becomes useful is if you need to save a few points. Sometimes you will need to have options. Secondly the meta may change, and what was hot in now not.
A pretty good weekend, though I only managed to partially get my to do list finished
Finished base coating the body. I worked on applying the Nerdfest tried and true metal technique. Finished the lower half and started on some details. Worked on painting the top armor and the power spines/Chambers that rest on the top armor. painted the super structure for the carapace and Armored shoulder plates. Base coated the head.
Need to finish and detail the torso before I seal the top plate. Finish both power spines front and back caps. At this point I need to get the arms in place and magnitized. Shoulder mounts to follow.

Thanks. It's much less black than the photo. 7 weekends. Once the torso gets completed I really need to do the Arm mounts. I been stressing over them as I cannot afford to mess them up.
Will move forward... plan...
Finish power strip
Finish metalling torso
Detail torso. (Time consumer)
Paint anti infantry weapons - install
Paint head (already magnitized)
Build arms. magnitized -pray
Paint Apoc launchers
Build and paint both powerfists, 1 with spare head in the palm of the left fist
Paint and detail all the Armor plates.
The plasma and VC can wait as Ramos wants to run the with the two fists
Knight Fight medals. Going to paint them metallic.
Now I am worried again.

Good day yesterday.finished up the carapace. Just need to glue (and clamp) the shoulder framework in place before I seal her up.
Did the details on the torso ( as much as I was going to do. Your could spend a week just painting all the pipes and vents.)
Finished both Apoc launchers, though I may need to put larger magnets in their mounts, we'll see. Finished the void shields, and both front and back anti infantry guns and mounts.
Lastly, I took the plunge and started on the arm mounts. I glued metal plates on both sides of the mounting U joint (where the weapon slides into the arm. I'll mount magnets to the weapon round attachment on both sides. I'll also attach another magnet to the U Mount and top of the gun attachment for further strength. It won't be as posable but should be sturdy and quickly interchangeable.
Next will be putting all the pieces together and priming all the Armor plating. Which is the fun part.

Snowed in. So I got another day of work.
Drilled an magnitized the arms. Looks like the 3 magnet system will work. Once I got that done, I put the all together, JB Welded them together. Let them set then painted them and attached them to the torso. They are all pinned with JBW. Should hold.
Glued the shoulder mounts to the armor plate super structure. This should be the last piece to attach to the torso. Once done she'll actually look like a Warlord Titan. Then on to all the armor plating. Probably wait till next week to start that.
Finished building the right powerfist. Will need to magnitize it in a good position... Then on to the left powerfist with the Titan head in it's hand. I hope the magnets can hold the additional weight.
While the arms were setting. I painted the medals. I will probably not get another day to work on her till next weekend. Two days helped get me back on track.

Ok. Some updated pics. It took me most of the morning to dig myself out. So I decided to stay home and get some other mundane things done. In-between I glued the shoulder mounts on the torso. Primed the right powerfist. Started on the head that will go into the other powerfist. This PF has its fingers all hinged, so I can place the head then wrap the fingers naturally.
Starting to come together. Next will be sealing the torso and adding the power strips. Then get the right PF painted.

6 weekends to go. I should be back on track. A little poorer in the wallet, but ample time to get things finished.
If I have a couple of weekends at the end I'd like to do some new terrain for my games with my Nids. Using the same techniques I did for the bases. Jungle mounds/ruins. Styrofoam, glue, lots of plastic aquarium plants and lots of flock. Must be LOS blocking as one of my main opponents is bringing a Uber competitive SM gun line tailored specifically to neutralize Nids. ( Thought we were playing a friendly game but he seems to now embrace WAAC). That's what I get for sharing my list. No time to change or paint new stuff. Just have to find away to survive loads of flying Landraiders.
Nothing else it could be short games which will allow me to go eat more delicious Udon. So looking forward to that. What addiction?

I'll play to win for sure. However the SM Kung Fu is strong now, even with a medeocure opponent, the game is skewed in his favor. Don't mind losing just want a good and if possible close game. If he gets all gloating, I'll end up ending it for sure.

Back to Gwendolyn. Sealed the torso and added the power strips. Glued on the anti-infantry weapons and just about finished the right powerfist. Wasn't sure what to do with the claws. Leave them with a steel drybrushing or go with a mute power effect.
Started on the Left powerfist (with the other head), of course I had to kitbash the rear hatch area with the walkway to the cockpit. Add some structure and finally some cabling. So far it looks like it'll fit well into the fist. Magnitized the fist in a good palm up position, and finished painting all but the fingers. That will have to wait until the head is complete.
I have a few more small clean up jobs that I need to finish, arm Pistons, some gap filling ect, then on to what I really think is the best part; the armor plates. Getting closer, she looks like a Warlord Titan now for sure.

First Armor plate on. The one directly above the head. Started on the other plates. Will wait for the weekend to attach when I can keep the shop heated longer. Single digit temps this morning.
Also. Glued and painted arm Pistons. Looking for banners and maybe a hanging cage
Rebuilt the Mars head. Will need to repaint. Hopefully a good weekend will see her being close to finished.

Oh.. got it. Never facing off. They are of the same legion. Hell's Daughter is the leader, Gwendolyn is the mean step sister.
Update. I scrapped the head in hand concept. The weight along with the pivot angle was too much for the magnets. So decided to go with a open palm. More armor plates to do today. Thought this would go quicker.
Between WM and I, we have a full mantiple. 2 Warlords, 2 Reavers and 3 Warhounds. With support of some 14+ Imperial Knights.

Finished the left powerfist. Without the other head. May use the other head on the Lucius Warhound. Worth pondering.
Spent the day just doing Armor plating. Finished everything except the two forward and two back shoulder Armor.
Need to clean up a few things like the brass on the toes. Railing on the back ( though I kinda like it off). I ordered 2 prisoner cages to hang from the sheild mounts. The Sheilds themself.
I will try to get the volcano cannon and the Sunfurt plasma done before Adepticon, in case we want to run it differently. I also just got the carapace mounted Las blasters. They can wait till the summer.
Will wait to glue them all on when I get another full day to make sure all the glued bits stay in place.

Thanks, the camera phone pics seem pixelated, and show the black armor as being way to shiny. I need my real camera back.
So some little more to do on her, Touch up painting where the attachment points for all the armor plates. The toe brass. The inbetween toe armor. I bought two hanging prisoner cages (think medieval torture theme) that i will look to hang from the sheild mounts on the front shoulder armor. Add some banners and done.
If i have time i'll try to finish the plasma and Volcano Cannon. Then I need to get the Crons finished - mainily plastic rods inserted on a lot of guys. Some spray sealing and the start to pack. Lastly confirm the Knight fight table is ready to go.
Less than a month to go!

Post by: Dysartes
The Warlord is looking great, Solar - will you be basing it, or leaving it free-standing?
In terms of storage, it looks like a model where a custom box might be an idea, possibly with a set-up that allows you to attach the model to the box by the feet.
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
No base, unless it proves unstable at Adepticon.
More progress. Finished the touch ups to the Armor plating. Finished the volcano cannon, so now I have another option for the Titannicus game.
Next picture is the prisoner cages I added to the front armor plates. Each contain a Heritic. Lastly as an omage to the original Titannicus models and artwork. I added some Back banners.
In-between toe plates and Banners and she's done. I have other weapons. New Carapace weapons and the Sunfury plasma will be on the list after Adepticon.

Still a little bit to do on Gwendolyn. But in general she is ready to play. I'll need a weekend day to finish and seal coat her. In the meantime I had a little time last night, so I started cleaning up and laying out all the stuff I'm bringing to Adepticon.
3 Titans, 11 Imperial Knights, a 3000 pt Tyranids army and a 3000 pt Necrons army. Both not very competitive, as I wanted to give some of my opponents the opportunity to play against Armies they don't normally get to play.
I'll try to get stuff packed up and out of the way this weekend, so I can spend some time making sure the Knight Fight table is ready. Lastly if I have time. I'd like to do some new terrain for our 40k table.

Post by: Solar_lion
Packed some more stuff, namely the Warhound, Reaver and the remaining knights. Pile getting bigger. So that leaves the Warlord and I'm waiting to seal coat her this weekend.
So pulled out the Knight Fight board and tables. Some slight warping on the base table, but nothing too serious. Trying to remember where all the buildings went. Got close enough. I'm going to repaint around the buildings so to make it easier to identify what goes where. Also a weekend project.
That leaves me with just building enough jungle terrain to fill a 4x8 table. I plan on using styrofoam so to be light and cheap. Something that if it breaks it's easy enough to be disposable.
Hopefully the weather cooperates. 15 days to go. 10 days till my vacation starts.

2. 2nd Triarch Stalker. Another unique unit
3. 5. Lychguard
4. 5 Lychguard with sheilds
5. 4 Additional Wraiths
6. Update paint theme on 5 Wraiths, 2 Canoptek spyders, 1 Necron Nightscythe. Necron Bomber and 2 old Monoliths (though it appears there will be a new updated model for them)
7. Update the paint theme on the Tesseract Vault

If I finish them then I'll finish the Remaining items on the Titan legion. 2nd Warhound and the 6 Armigers. Followed by the additional weapons and detailing on my Warlord .

Not sure. Just thought I play around and see if I can peak my intrest with all the new kits. So far I thought I'd go with IF successor.. called.. Praetorians. All Terran formed chapter.
Thanks Brother.
True. Originally the purple was Grey. Thought it was too mute.

IceAngel wrote:I really like what you've got so far. Do you think you'll add another color over the tan/ brown?
The brown is actually the new Necron brass color with several washes depending on what light is hitting it. The only change I might make would to purple inside the shoulders. Not sure though as I wanted them to look like traditional spaulders.

A couple of in the work projects. First is repaint of some of my older Necrons. I decided to re theme them a while back but recently changed the glow on the Canoptek units to make them stand out as such.
Continue to add to my Primaris SM lists. I have 2 very specific lists I want to try and I'm trying to stick to only purchasing those models. You can see the paint theme in some posts above. Techmarine in my current list.

Yep. Should be a more dark gothic look instead of a generic MDF city. I'll add a bunch of elements from the GW terrain kits to bring it In line with the 40k universe. The fun thing will be designing the individual buildings as these kits are all modular, so I'm only limited by my imagination and my wallet.
With all the stretch goals items, I may have to build a IG army. A tank company seems reasonable with all the tanks that came with the kickstarter. I'll see how much infantry and can muster from past Adepticon displays boards I've done over the years.

WM : actually it's more of a gold. The camera is making it weird, I might have gone a bit overboard with the wash.
That said, I will start posting more as I push towards the massive amount of things I'm working on for next years Adepticon ( assuming it happens )
The plan is to bring 3 armies for games with my friends. I don't expect to play in any official tourney but pickup's with my friends and play armies they probably haven't had a chance to face.
So I have been working on Necrons (First Army I'm bringing). Getting the models I have already painted ...Repainted to the current theme.
So far I have repainted the Monolith, 5 wraiths and a Triach Stalker, I have painted in addition a 2nd Monolith, a 2nd Stalker, 4 more Wraiths ( sucks that they come in 3 and I need 10 ). A 5 man unit of Lychguard w Shields and a 5 man unit with warscythes. a 5 man unit of Praetorians. Lastly one of 3 Doomstalker
So based on my list I'll need to builds and paint 5 more Praetorians, an Additional wraith ( but will paint the other two while I'm at it ), a Doomstalker, a Tecnomancer and some of the new Scarabs (12 ).
In addition there is a Repaint for the Night Shroud bomber and some misc HQ's ( not in my AC list )
Next up is to finish my List for the Tyranids (2nd army I'm bringing ) all I'm missing is several Monsters Units, a unit of biovore's and a good amount or ripper swarms.
Lastly I started on a Primaris Space Marine list. I have named them the 'Sentinals' Sons of Dorn. I have the unconventional thought of playing a large amount of Dreads as a theme. Dreads have always represented a 40k vibe with me. So far I have purchased just about everything I need for my list ( And More ) but manage to paint mostly things that are not in my list... just cause and trying my new color theme. Gotta get focused.
Next will be a complete redo of the Terrain for the event I run at Adepticon ( Knight Fight ). There is a thread on Dakka if your interested. I have to build and Paint a 6x8 Cityscape board for the Imperial Knights to run around in. Past Years I used alot of MDF buildings and this worked well but it didn't look very gothic or grimdark. This board will be using the modular kits from the 'Rampart' cathedral terrain kickstarter. Went all in and should be able to up my game for the Event.
Then I invested in a new Necron board. New Mat(s) and terrain. I thought I should have a table that complemented my army not just some distant battlefield. Cool thing is I purchased some files and Ramos has generously played around with 3d printing them so I will have lots of terrain options. I still have all my Jungle terrain for my Nids to play on so I'll be bringing that too.
Then Finally the Titans.. Finish the Warlord titans additional weapons, back banner and detailing and build and paint the Lucius Warhound. Hope to use them in the full scale Titannicus game ( Hope I can get all 4 of mine in the game. 2 Warhounds, Reaver and the Warlord.
Now all I need is time.. I have 8 months. Starting my countdown... Thanks for stopping by...

It is traditional my friend, to include a link to a thread you mention wanting people to visit. That being said I didn't see any threads by you besides this one that had been posted to since December 2020!
Great to hear you're keeping so busy. Looking forward to seeing photos of the various painted models as you complete them. Good luck!

Yeah,, the Knight Fight thread was mainly to give people a look at the past. I'll be posting progress as I get into full Urban terrain building mode.

So on the Necron Front, I got some of the mats I ordered and some Obelisks' ( they are originally objective markers that I'll use as terrain )
2 more additional Mats should be coming so I can create additional sized boards.
Couldn't resist seeing how some of my Repainted Necrons look on it so I took a few pics.
I also wanted to see how the Obelisk's look painted up and on the board so I painted one to check as well.

Finished a few more stragglers.. The Primaris Cptn from the box set. Sorry no pics .. yet
I did manage to get started on a Project that I intended to do for Adeption last year. Kinda put off after the event got derailed. Started on the Lucius Warhounds Legs. this will be a different Legio than the others I have . Being a Lucius Pattern I thought that it should be a Horus Heresy era Legio. So I'm going with Legio Fureans or TigerEyes. Yellow with Black flames. They turned Traitor and even fought in the assault on Earth and the Imperial Palace. Working on the Leg armor next before I get to the body.

Thanks. I'll get to assembling the body this weekend.
I discovered makeup brushes. They are like wet blending dry brushes. Really am impressed. Getting better at using them. They also are amazing for OSL. Which I started using on my recent Necrons

It feels that way. Still working on the body. Resin warping , gap filling and test fitting to get the best results.
Finished up the bottom half and started on the 3 weapon options. Only the Plasma cannon is finished.

Thanks for the offer.
Not sure.. I'll have to ponder that. I have Several Armies I need to finish and I'll need to finish them myself. The New Knight Fight terrain is Unfortunately all Modular so I'll be building it as I go. More trial and error planning. I will have much more time than I thought as I'm off work starting in November.
If I get in a bind I will reach out. Though I believe / Leaning towards that Adepticon will be cancelled next year as well with all the recent new variants and politicizing surrounding the virus.

Thanks, though it was not a very well casted piece. I think I managed to get it at least tabletop ( or Adepticon floor ) ready. I still need to add the Flames ( tried for a very Tim Burton - NBC reference) on the Carapace, but I need a break from it and it is done temporarily for now.
Luckily I think they live at your house.

You should come for the event and play. Play some pickup games and Knight Fight. Everyone needs to have a vacation and get back to playing.

Quick update. Got some more pieces for my Necron board. Some taller Obelisk's. And a shot with a warrior next to the lot. A lot of painting to be done. My main set pieces should arrive by the end of the week. Looking at the pic the lettering looks very unclean. but I assure you it is not, it's heavily gloss coated glare

Additional progress on the Necron board. I purchased some very cool Necron files and Ramos has graciously offered to print them for me. So some of the smaller flat pieces will be replaced by these new prints. I think these will give the table a more Tomb world feel.

About half way done with the original set of terrain. I have 6 additional pieces coming from Ramos that I will replace some of the flatter pieces.

Necrons first, SM and then finish the Nids.
Then on to the Knight Fight Table. My new Mats will not be available till mid to late October.

New Ramos printed Terrain should be here some time late next week. Exciting times. Been Painting Rocks.. Yep rocks.. I'll paint them the same color as the Terrain and vicariously add them to the edges of the terrain pieces to give the table a nice transition to the new mat.
I plan to very the gloss levels and will lightly brush sections with my Necron green paint to tie it all together.

I still have my beloved Lamenters, but not much to add to them. As a lost chapter I'm going to keep them first born so no cool Primaris upgrades for them. In addition they never recovered from the penitent crusade imposed on them for their involvement in the Badab war thus what I have is about right for the number remaining. So I will play them as is and keep it for narrative gaming. I still have a ton of first born boxes that I'll keep ... or give away .. Paint as a different chapter in the future ... or leave them in my will ( along with 4 Titans) ... who knows.
Yeah Crons are what I play most competitively ( or what I think is competitive - Git would tell you that my lists are not that competitive ), and quantity wise I have a lot of Necrons. Thus I thought I should have a board that matches my army. The board you are seeing is a 60in x 60in table. This is because some of my friends like playing bigger than 2000 pt games - so we play 3000 pts thus allowing a more variety of different units than the latest tourney winning combination over and over. We also like to ignore the GW 'This is what terrain you need to use and where to place it.' Thus this board will add character to our games when fielding my Necrons.
There is about 6 more pieces of Terrain that Ramos is working on Printing for me so I can swap out depending on the size game I want. I have about 4-8 peices in my que to paint and a pile of rocks to paint as debris for the table. Then pack away for future use and most importantly Adepticon.
More pics to come.
I look forward to playing you on it. Adepticon or Sooner.
AHhhhh Adepticon... what plans Have I..
We'll I'll be hosting 3 Knight Fight events. A 6x8 foot cityscape where 2 teams of Imperial Knights fight it out for Honor, Glory and especially adding to their Kill totals. This Year I'm hoping to have an all new city Terrain for the game that reflects a more Imperial Gothic city. At this time this project has not been started but materials all have been purchased.
I'll be bringing three 3000 pt armies for games with my friends and fellow Warders. Formost my Necrons, My Tyranids and my new SM Primaris Army chapter, The Sentinels. Obviously new terrain for the first two armies. Still need to build and paint a few figures for the Necrons and my Nid list. The SM army is new and all most nothing has been built and painted for them though all the units have been purchased.
Going to be a Hobby intensive winter.

Actually, it's been a long time since SL and I have played 40k. Years... 2, 3? I do run with a lot more competitive gaming crowd here in Madison that SL does out in the hoolies. For a while there it was funny as I kept trying to scale back the power of my lists and would still end up running over SL's forces. Just goes to show... "competitive" is a matter of your local environment. My current AdMech army is way off meta but I still think quite good. Hopefully we'll get the chance to see how it stands up to SL's Crons soon.
27147
Post by: Solar_lion
Regardless the Terrain will be fabulous.
26790
Post by: Gitsplitta
It will be!
My eldest and I played a lot of Crons vs. AdMech this past year. How it turned out depended on the units chosen (which seemed to be more important for Necrons than the AdMech) and the scenario. Were I building a Necron force from scratch... I'd start with 3 full units of Praetorians, 3 Canoptek Doomstalkers and the Nightbringer. Anything beyond that is just window dressing. Add 3x 5-man squads of immortals and some kind of HQ to make it legal and you'll be set (and under 2k).
That would be a very difficult list to deal with. Kind of a "Here it comes, stop it if you can." approach. Simple to run, fast & brutal.

First weekend I didn't work in ... a long time.
Had a whole day to myself.. so I did what any hobbyist would do... Clean. Yep went through alot of my piles. Sorted and put away in clear storage containers. Found stuff I was missing. Found stuff I didn't know I even had. Freed up a bunch of display space for the continuation of Armies I have and I have yet to build.
I found I have 2 boxes of Dark Imperium? Death Guard? I suspect they have the Marine stuff in it as well.. Why did I by this? Twice? About 50
Cultists, a Helldrake. 100's of first born Marines, alot of early mark armor variants for my once planned 30K army.
Enough Mechanicus figures to field about 3000 pts
Old Imperial Guard figures from previous Adepticon displays when we played in the Team tournament and I built the display boards for the teams. Probably 3 Leman Russ tanks, Chimera. A couple of Sentinals.
A load of the old Rhino's and Variants. 1st edition 'Egg' Dreads and 2 of the original Imperial Robots.
About 3/4 of the way done through the mystery boxes. More surprises ahead hopefully.
All this is in prep for clearing my table for the Knight Fight new table build. Still working on my Necron table and hope to be done with all my Adepticon Prep (3 armies and Terrain ) by the end of Nov or Mid Dec at the latest. Alot depends on if I can settle on what's in my lists and the new Nid rules in the new campaign book.

Sorry for the phone camera pics. My good camera is still broken and I've already sent it to be repaired but had the same problem occur shortly after getting it fixed. The symbols and lettering are not that pixelated.
if you click on the photo they are much clearer.
Here is a pics of all my current painted Necrons. There are some in these pics that still need repainted to the new theme and a bunch of them need new basing. That will be a future endevor as I finish all the stuff I need for Adepticon.
What's not in the picture is an additional Doom Stalker, an additional Wraith and 24 Scarab bases. All primed and ready for more time away from work. Still in boxes Tecnomancers, 2x units from the Indominus boxes ( characters , Skorpekh lords, 2 units of Skorpekh Destroyers, 40 warriors with the new Gauss Reapers, 4 Cryptothralls, 2 Royal Wardens, 2 Canoptek Reanimators). 2x units of Ophydian Destroyers. a Hexmark Destroyer, Unit of Praetorians, Box of Tomb blades. An additional Doomstalker, 2 more Wraiths on sprue. 3x Lokhust Destroyers, Tesseract Ark, The Silent King, The Void Dragon and the Convergence of Dominion. There are probably some odds and ends I missed.
What I need next is more Lychguard... as I added them to my current list.

To finish off my list I ordered some Lychguard and Praetorians. Though I probably have enough bits to Kitbash some together.

That is correct.. 3x squads of 8...good eye. I didn't want to make them too different so the obvious was the eye color.

Ahh. The life of the unemployed.
So keeping myself busy. Finished the 3 remaining terrain piece's for my Necron board. Below is one of the two Mausoleums. Also finished the small pyramid.
Recently painted some small objective markers in the form of small obelisks. They are painted with the Necron style glow but in blue instead. (I painted all my Canoptek units in blue as well). So I found these objective radius control area pads to go under them. Same color. Very cool.
Then on to rebasing all the different themes I had throughout the years and basing those units I never got too. Pic of basing in progress
Lastly I started painting the two Gauss Sentry pylons that replicates those found in the DOW games. Still wip. I don't like the glow in the vanes so I will switch to the AB most likely.
