Iirc there was talk of making a Huge Based monster for Ikrpg and speculation/mention of it doing double duty as a Warmahordes model, which led to the talk of the Dracodile.
What would be awesome is if those models from the boardgame also had actual warmachine/hordes stats! that gator with the gun is cool. There was also some cephalyx models in there!
It's smart (Financially for PP) that they are just doing a minor conversion to each of the existing Colossal frames, and it fits with their precedent of *character jack alternates to existing frames...but then I think....man, these are pretty much the exact same models, kind of underwhelming from a modelling/painting standpoint...meh, I still haven't painted the first Cryx one.
spiralingcadaver wrote: Yeah, fiscally smart is often synonymous with being cheap, especially when it comes to PP.
?? It's the pretty standard "Same chassis different weapons loadout" thing that they do with their other Warjacks. It makes sense, and is well-grounded in the real-world.
If you want to get on PP for being cheap - get on them for having so many units with only 3 sculpts + leader for 10 men.
ImAGeek wrote:When do we find out what the Hordes announcement is? Is it this weekend? I really really hope there is a Dracodile coming.
I'm told it's later today (Friday).

Worst offender for this has to be the Convergence mechanic group, that only has two sculpts for a three man unit.

I don't really see how that's a problem.
A Space Marine dreadnought with a plasma cannon and a Space Marine dreadnought with an assault cannon are the same model with a weapon swap as well. Nobody seems to have an issue with that.
The only difference with Warmahordes is that they give the variants different names.
Yeah it looks like it. It flashed up and I thought 'Drakodile!' But it doesn't look like it. I doubt they'd tie it's mouth shut. All the concepts at the end looked interesting.

I'm just going to think Epic Maelok so I don't get disappointed, I think in hindsight that the Dracodile talk was a trap! Looks very cool regardless, and I'd love to have a way to run Maelok that doesn't revolve around 3 of everything (posse, witch doc, bull snapper). Although I am not going to use him in spam lists as-is anyway, and epic version could be very cool.

I am excited about the Hydra, even though I like the mammoth. And I keep seeing the Raptor having some massive 'crap from the sky' attack. Cheesey as that would be, I'd use it EVERY game!
skullking wrote: Kind of weird that there aren't any new merc Colossals, or Minion gargantuans. I was hoping for the dragodile and a massive Hog golem-thing.
Mercs have two, so it isn't so surprising that they're not getting a third. Was kind of expecting one for Minions though.
Also, saying it now, the acquisition of Rathrok should be written into the fluff as the justification for the Shifting Stone nerf...

Mercs have two colossals already, they just got their second one early (and on a completely different chassis).
Minions are in need of new beasts and units more than Gargantuans at the moment, though a Dracodile would be awesome. A third minion pact with crossovers into the other two pacts could also really help flesh out their options.

I think a better comparison is a Rhino vs a Razorback vs a Predator vs a Whirlwind ect. Same chassis, different standardized loadouts given different names to distinguish them.
The Desert Hydra is just an amazing model, it looks even better than how I imagined it which is quite rare for me.
The Storm Raptor is the most unique just because of its speed, but I'm pretty sure its going to have the lowest amount of damage boxes out of all the Gargantuans and Colossals.
I really hope the Blightbringer rules wise isn't just outright better than the Sepulcher because it already seems like it is unless the Sepulcher's recursion or guns are really good.

They just seem the most similar to me in function to me.
They just seem more support oriented than the others to me as well. For example they are both the complete opposite of the Desert Hydra which is just a big weapons platform/beatstick.

I'm just going off the information described in the new Gargantuans video posted by RiTides on page 51 and the new Colossals video posted earlier, really to me its just kind of weird how they were far more descriptive with some of the new Colossals/Gargantuans abilities and then gave barely any information on the others.

Some may be in planning stages. This year is a Warmachine book right? So collassals are going to likely be more finished.
Apparantly the Hordes book is this year too. Considering we've seen the model for the Skorne gargantuan and Cryx Collosal, I'm thinking maybe it'll be an alternating release schedule for them maybe?

Hmm, I thought they did a book a year.
But I dont like Victors head, I think I will buy the conquest head and put it on him
It's not officially a book a year, nor one of each a year. It's simply as they're getting them done and how they feel about what they have to release. We might get one of each, we might only get one. It's not set in stone.
Wasn't the Mountain King out before some of the first Colossals as well or am I mistaken on that?

What I noticed from the art: We seem to be getting eZerkova as a Warcaster Unit with two Doom Reaver body guards with scythes. Also, Denny3 as a flying battle engine caster?
What I notice from the description: Northern Crusade/Khador/Cygnar alliance? Leto meeting with Ayn?!?! And it seems we may finally get a conclusion to the Strakov rescue mission of Karchev storyline.
Rumors say a new Convergence warcaster is in there as well. Khador and Cygnar preparing for a Cryxian invasion? Yes please! And the cover has Denny riding a machine dragon. That's very metal.
Welll, have they ever released something for a faction in a book w/o a new warcaster. The Olla seal is confirmed

Ok now I getting very curious about what the new Cygnar caster is going to be since I seriously doubt its Haley3 since they probably would have done haley/denny cover if that was the case.

Right? I wonder if it is somehow Nightmare rebuilt after he got squashed in Collosals.

I think since they started releasing Merc casters, there hasn't been a book where they have done that. I could be wrong.

Doing stuff, meaning what? They've always used the most Orgoth tech (outside of Cryx), but this release does seem to be utilizing that tech more than others, though desperate times call for desperate measures.
Blood Hawk wrote:Ok now I getting very curious about what the new Cygnar caster is going to be since I seriously doubt its Haley3 since they probably would have done haley/denny cover if that was the case.
As far as I know, Haley's powers are still drained due to the Cryxian poison. Unless this book finds a cure for her, I'd imagine she won't be in it.

Nope, that'd be Cygnar. And the Wrath cover was a throwback to the MKI original rulebook, hence the Butcher/Asphyxious cover.
I really like that cover. I'm mainly a Hordes guy (mostly because I can't pick a WM faction, and seeing as I already do like 3-4 hordes factions, I don't feel like I can do that many WM factions too!) but I'm really looking forward to this book.
Son of a B! I really wanted to see the Cryx Battle Engine Warcaster being someone/thing who was simply just that large, not just another person riding a larger mount.
highlord tamburlaine wrote: They could have made Terminus into an even bigger monstrosity. That would've worked.
Liking those new scythe guys. Wouldn't be surprised to see them on 40mm bases judging by their size in the art.a
Is that a regular reaver in front, or a new one as well?
I was hoping for Mortenebra myself. Promote her to the vacant Lich Lord spot in charge of the war engine production, and have her use the tech she's learned seeing the plans for and building The Krakens to build herself a new huge based chassis. Cryx could also use a good Warjack caster and she'd be ideal for that role.
hotsauceman1 wrote: Anyone notice that Denegra is pulling power from her Jacks to fuel her spell? I wonder what that could be?
You can translate the runes to work out what the spell is - Denegra is casting Grave Wind (Jaga Jaga has it - boosts DEF and grants Poltergeist). I haven't seen a translation for what Zerkova is casting, mostly cause the angle of the image + resolution issues make it trickier I think.
hotsauceman1 wrote: But that doesnt do much to alot of jacks.
I think she may have a power that allows her to use her jacks to fuel herself or something
While I'm all for baseless speculation, I think it's much more likely she's just casting Grave Wind.
Normally no, but DEF is more relevant for Cryx heavies. DEF16 Deathjack is kind of a problem for people to deal with. Its also going to be pretty important for Deneghra herself if she is in fact a battle engine caster. That would probably put her in the DEF13-14 range, and pushing it back up to DEF17 is going to be a big deal.
Pretty tough to tell anything based purely off the artwork otherwise, it would definitely be nice to see some more jack based casters for Cryx though.
Blood Hawk wrote: Ok now I getting very curious about what the new Cygnar caster is going to be since I seriously doubt its Haley3 since they probably would have done haley/denny cover if that was the case.
Personally I'm hoping for Siege, since I think at this point he's the oldest caster who hasn't received an epic version yet.
Field Marshal: Symbiosis - Models in this model's Battlegroup gain the effects of any Friendly Faction Upkeep Spells cast on this model if they do not have another Friendly Upkeep Spell on them.
It's only as powerful as the Upkeeps they give her really. It could get mean in two caster games, but a lot of things get stupid in those so it's not really a concern I don't think.

I believe they've stated many times that there aren't plans for the large based Apotheosis Casters to go Epic.
They also said they would do, or wouldn't do, a lot of things that they ended up not doing, or doing.
PP will do whatever they feel like doing that will actually sell. If new epic versions of the Apotheosis casters will sell and makes sense story-wise, then it will happen.
And there's a point coming in the story of Warmachine where all the rumors say they're going to advance the timeline quite a bit, which is plenty of time for things to change.
There's also a preview for the Devil's Shadow Mutineers:
Spoiler:
They look really interesting--not earthshaking, but a solid, fun unit that gives new options to both Cryx and Mercs. Bear in mind that as Sea Dogs, they can also benefit from the pirate solos, like Hawk's melee damage boost, or Rockbottom's coins.
They will be annoying to destroy the whole unit, that is for sure, but their defensive stats are pretty bad and they lack any kind of defensive tech. Its pretty hard for me to envision their impact based on just the rules. What will make or break them is seeing if their Blood Bound ability can make up for how easy they are to kill individually or not.
Y'know, Warmachine is hard on my wallet :( Oh well. I mean, its goint to be 110$ for ruin and new IFP. And I will still have a min unit of IFP to do do something with. It is especially hard when the game doesnt hld your interest alot, but just enough for you to love it
Although, is zerkova is cheap. I will get her for sure.
The difference between the UAs are the shield and the banner so they probably just put in both types of shields and banners for both units and the base UA models.
Both units in the PP site have the same PIP (33104), so there will be a single box with options to build both units. Also this:
SPECIAL NOTE: PIP 33104 contains the same Mk II stat cards as PIP 33090 and PIP 33027 as well as a stat card for the Black Dragon Officer & Standard Unit Attachment. The models in this box can be built to represent the same figures as PIP 33090 and PIP 33027 in the game. However, the models in PIP 33104 are new sculpts and therefore look different from the models found in PIP 33090 and PIP 33027. PIP 33104 replaces PIPs 33090 and 33027 by offering their contents in complete units. In addition, these models are plastic rather than metal. The replaced models will no longer be available from Privateer Press beginning June 1, 2015.
So excited for the plastic IFP. And the fact the Black Dragons are basically going to be 50% cheaper. I can think of a certain other company that would use the move to plastic to raise the price.
This may make me finally commit to putting together a Khador force.
Those damned pikes were the biggest holdup for me. Was not in the mood to have to replace all those with stronger materials.
These new ones seem nice and thick and less prone to snapping/ bending (hopefully).
Damn you Privateer and your desires to part me from my money!
Haha! Oh, wait, you're serious? Let me laugh harder.... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
No, but seriously, their plastic does Not make good pikes, or even sword blades. They use the stuff they do because it lets them pull it from the molds before it's fully hard, and thus have undercuts in their sculpts. This however results in blades and hafts and such being rather warped and sometimes straight up noodley. You're still gonna want to brass rod them. The plastic however does have the bit of advantage in being much easier to drill out and/or magnetize.

No.
Are we 100% sure about that though? The new convergence battle-engine is first one in the new material I thought, so they could be different I don't know.
Most of my weapons have been fine. It's the mashed potato faces and finger blobs that I've had more issue with. Or disappearing armor that melds into flesh.
Then again I mostly just do Trolls, and their weapons are usually bigger and thicker than the human stuff, so that might account for why my weapons have never been really problematic.
WayneTheGame wrote: IMHO PVC plastic or not it's still better than metal. The price tag alone makes it worthwhile.
I agree - it's difficult to clean up, yes. But not what people make it out to be. And once you get it cleaned up it looks fine. It still certainly beats having to pin things IMO. Plus a lot of things have nearly halved in price as a result of the transition.
I can't help but wonder why PP is so slow dragging their feet on converting their pricey cavalry minis to plastic though.
i pin absolutely everything, anyway, since i paint in parts...
i enjoyed painting for PP when i did freelance work for them...
i love the aesthetic of the minis...
i collected plenty of their minis after i stopped painting for them in 2006...
i still use P3 paints exclusively...
since the switch to PVC, i have not bought a single mini in that material...
i prefer metal...
having checked out the PVC casts, the quality looked horrible, and has killed any purchases i would have made...
i would like some of the newer Warjacks, but not in PVC...
i am glad that some of you seem to like it, but it's not for me...
as long as they keep the gamers happy, my friends will have a job, so that's good...
as long as they use PVC, i will not be collcting anything cast in that material, which is a bummer...
none of it is worth my money, in my opinion...
PVC is on the list, along with Finecast, of materials that i will not buy...
like i said though, i am glad that some people like it, and continue to support PP, because it is a company that i have a lot of love for, and i am all about their paints...
i have plenty of metal minis i can paint, anyway...
i do look forward to checking out their HIPS plastic...

I got the TEP and will be putting it together tomorrow. I just wish PP would start releasing more models in HIPS and sooner. I'm not sure I'd buy a version that has HISP base model with PVC or metal bits as addons for a variant model.

Yep. There's one reason I'll buy PVC, and it's if the price is right, and PP (along with Soda Pop now) is charging non-discount prices for a discount material. I guess some people are happy with that, but it's such a pain to get PVC to clean up well that I need to have a lot more incentive to get something than a bunch of work to get something to approximate something in another material than loyalty to a brand or wanting to stay current.
PP still makes good rules (I assume that hasn't stopped- haven't even been looking that recently) and some fun metal models, but their plastic line and visual/narrative design choices since 2nd edition, have turned me from an avid player to one who picks up a mini every few months at best, if something looks great and is in a faction I still have.
I'd like to think they have held off redoing the Pikemen until they could get them up to snuff material wise.
It's not like they don't know the issues with the material. They actively been working to change it, evidenced by the TEP. Perhaps besides the change to plastic on larger models, they've been able to move the PVC plastic to a facility with better quality control?
But if it is the same stuff, it'll still take a lot of the hurt out of buying the unit/upgrades to field Pikemen. The downside being, there will be more pikemen in the world.
@Breotan: different strokes for different folks...
i love metal minis...
i also like HIPS plastic, and quality resin (like the Studio McVey LE's)...
i have a few of the same minis in metal and Finecast both, and one is material full of holes, while the other is perfectly cast...
i'll stick to metal...
@HisDivineShadow: nice...
way to keep it classy, telling people to "frak off"...
who is pretending, anyway???
if an individual doesn't like a certain type of material a mini is cast in, that is their opinion...
we all vote with our wallets...
like i said in both of my earlier posts, i am glad that PP is making an option that people find more affordable, as they will sell more minis, and stay in business...
PPs newer sculpts have mostly solved the issues they've had in the past even though they're still made of the Restic. On larger models like jacks its perfectly acceptable.
@Grey Templar: i have seen massive divots in the top part of the torso on restic Khador 'Jacks, and some pretty rough mold slip on them and other 'Jacks...
for me personally, the material is not acceptable...
if they were HIPS, like a GW Dreadnought kit, i would be all over a mini like Ruin...
he is an amazing sculpt...
fortunately, i can paint Beast 09 in metal, instead...
like i said, i am not trying to badmouth PP, i am just sad to see the industry moving away from metal to restic...
others see it as a godsend...
i like the move from metal to HIPs, especially for bigger kits, that's for sure...
cool...
thanks for letting me know, Platuan4th...
i would love to paint Ruin, as i haven't painted a Warjack in a long time...
it would be fun to paint him in the style that i painted The Butcher...

+1. If I were only a gamer, it'd be fine and I'd never tell someone with that attitude from collecting PP. But I do the hobby side more than the game side, so find the minis undesireable. GW is hardly the only other game in town. The thing is, there are plenty of companies from the same newer generation, with strong rules sets, but cheaper models or comparably priced but nicer models. So, as someone who favors the hobby, I just don't think PP plastics are worth it. Hell, you can be picky and make perfectly serviceable forces out of their metal line and grabbing old used 1st edition metals (which is mostly what I've done) without needing to confront their overpriced plastics if you really wanted to try the game and were afeared of stories of annoying materials.
I don't think there's any reason why expressing an opinion on a material is worth fake-swearing at.
Sorry if I've missed it (been out of Warmachine for awhile), but I've seen eKromac mentioned. What is the basis for those rumors? I have a friend who really, really likes Kromac.
Also, what is the next Hordes book called? I haven't been able to find it.
**EDIT
Found it.
Very strong hints (near confirmation) that he will be in the Hordes 10 year box.
Awesome. I wonder if my friend will go to Gencon..

He didn't, Borka did, but Kromac is Troll racist and all the trollbloods look the same to him!
No, GRIM picked a fight with Kromac, not Borka. Now who can't tell them apart?
Also Kromac is being goaded into taking the axe by a dude with a literal stick up his arse. A dude so intent on it that he's apparently tricked both Gators and Pigs into picking a fight with the Trolls to help him kill Madrak.

Are you talking about the troll who stole one of kromacs axes in a game of keepaway? That was jarl.
At this point Kromac probably wants to eat the heart of every male trollkin warlock. The last two books have not really had much to make him more enamored of the blue skinned fellows. I think Gunnbjorn is about the only one who hasn't stolen or broken something of Kromac's, whether ax or body part.

There's more than one a Trollkin Warlock with a gun?

Remember that as of the latest story progression Haley is currently crippled/poisoned and unable to use magic which means something fairly drastic has to happen in order for her to get even more powerful. Possibly Haley3 is doing a Terminator homage and has come back from an alternate timeline to stop Denny3. Not really sure how to explain Journeyman (or pre Journeyman since there is no armour) Haley though unless this is just dramatic license with the art.
That said, the best theories I have seen so far is that neither of these Haley's are actually from this timeline - the one they labeled as Haley2 has some slight differences from the existing art/models for her and the rune on her loincloth is 'Prime' and she hasn't actually got to that rank yet. That would mean that floating Haley off the top of the image is the real one.
It's been rumored as something that was play tested for awhile but was generally dismissed. Also she's acheiving Prime rank. Even Nemo "I built Thunderhead and Stormwall" doesn't get that rank.
Ghosts of Haleys past. Could not be more excited for Haley3. Haley2 was my first caster for Cygnar because she had a Trencher theme list, so I managed to get it 50% right with my first purchase according to everyone (I'm happy with 100% of it, but hey), and I'm so excited for her to get more story time and a new version!
Anson Durst is the rock on which the enemies of the Protectorate break, a bulwark to the faithful who weathers tides of violence to keep blameless Menites safe. He earned his epithet fighting alongside the theocracy’s defenders to repel wave after wave of invading soldiers. Countless times he used his powers and a steel wall of warjacks to prevent harm to his men. Fueled by faith and his devotion to the code of the Order of the Wall, Anson Durst is all but undefeatable when committed to the defense of his people.

Or something like Kromac, where you choose one to be on the table each turn. If you can deploy them all at once, I hear there's a new rule that applies:
Temporal Paradox: If two or more of these models are base to base, they are both destroyed, then the setting is removed from play.
Is that a paladin warcaster? Time to start menoth.
Begin the speculation! He's the necessary paladin type to benefit from vilmon's ability, now you have to use magical attacks/magic to assassinate him! Eat it farrow.
Liking the croaks, not liking the price, for how many unique sculpts?
Sometimes PP leave me scratching my head. For their size and amount, why not just do them in plastic?
Come to think of it though, I don't think PP have ever done any real little stuff in plastic. Have they? Like pygs or whelps or anything (other than those hanging off of other larger models)?

Croaks are human-sized more or less. I can see making whelps or even gobbers in metal still, sorta.
But this makes them pricey and yucky metal. It's 2015 - I don't want anything to do with a big box of metal units anymore. I really like them otherwise - but metal just kills my interest. And I hate seeing new metal units made because they're never going to be plastic now. (well maybe, in 2525 - if man is still alive).
I don't expect them in HIPS - but PP should be making these things in plastic of some sort.
I agree. Not fond of metal units. Especially in large numbers. I consider a unit of more than 3 too large to bother with in metal. Which is why I have exactly one Pyg painted from every unit I've got.
Characters in metal though? Sure. Love 'em. No problem. Really have come full circle in regards to metal figures when it comes to heroes and individuals.
Really funny how about 3 pages back we had people moaning about their plastic, and now we have people moaning about the metal. Just goes to show you can't please everyone. I'd rather units of 10 were in metal, took me long enough to clean my 5 plastic gators.
This isn't 100% in PPs court, but does anyone know when warmachine tactics will be released as a 1.0? I don't like playing games while they're in early access/beta.

Alex C wrote: They are Gremlins. Tells you right there in the picture.
Nah, they are a gremlin swarm ! Surely that must imply a ton of special rules, when you have multiple models on the same base, no? Can it be trampled through? Thrown?
And beside, what are gremlins in Warmachine? They seem like they are small creature that loves to make Warjack malfunction, but does they really do that? How does it work?
[edit]
Mischievous and malicious in the extreme, gremlins delight in rooting around in mechanikal constructs with the intent of causing as much damage as possible for their own amusement. These mysterious grymkin are attracted to the hiss and clank of warjacks on the battlefield and have been known to bring mechanized weaponry grinding to a halt at the most inopportune times.
Lone of their special rules (mischief) was posted a few pages back iirc.
I'm guessing incorporeal and either stealth or invisible (much like they have in the rpg) and some variation of ancient shroud, gotta be a reason there are five of them on the base.
Cool stuff, not a fan of the paint job, but the concept is a lot of fun. Really hoping it works for mercs (or even better, the magnus lists, what with the desert scout aesthetic).
If not, my trolls or skorne might still get a thing.

Gotta say, I LOVE this model. And I'm happy to have SOMETHING else for the thornfall that isn't another warlock. But after seeing it's stats, and points, and whatnot, I have to ask, is it even worth using? At half it's points cost it doesn't seem all that great, just a decent sniper. But the large base, and a large point cost ( and $ cost I'm sure as well), make me wonder what exactly it's doing to help anyone, in particular the Thornfall, who are falling behind the Blackwater in terms of beasts, units, and solos, book after book. What's it's deal?
All these new models look great BTW! Kudos to PP for this stuff!

My initial impression of this solo was to tag team it is Slaughterhousers (in Farrow). Snipe a multi wound model with these guys and send in the Slaughterhousers with 4D6 damage each due to finisher.

It's been "launched" for some time now. But I'd recommend skipping or holding off for a while longer. The game needs a lot of work still IMO.

You are missing the combination of Armor Piercing and Sniper, specifically the fact you get to choose the column. Plus its Light cav so its super mobile.
2 rounds of shooting can take out an aspect on most standard beasts without tons of armor buffs, and on jacks they can focus down one particular system like the most important arm.
So it can move its normal movement, shoot, and then light cav backwards. And unlike most sniper solos it won't be terribly vulnerable to drifting blasts, its pretty durable against that.

Ahh... I knew there was something I was missing there. That all makes sense. Thanks for the clarification.
The app does of course have some issues. It has bad programming and can crash(its getting better though) if your device falls asleep, and it eats battery like crazy.
But overall its very fairly priced. Don't look at it like an app, look at it like a digital army book. Compare it to buying the Faction book or a 40k Codex. Sure, the rules come with each model, but what if you want to see the rules without buying the model? You'd have to either buy a bunch of $30-40 books, or an $8 app which gets you every model's rules, past, present, and future.
I do have it on my phone as well as my iPad (sometimes mess around with it when I'm on the train or something) but it's definitely easier on my IPad. My favourite thing about it is getting the cards for new models relatively early.
Once you become familiar with it, it's rather easy to use during a
game. I even add the opposing caster to my army list just so I can
see what they do without asking for the card lol.
I reiterate my previous statement that PP has been killing it lately. People have been asking for specific things for a long time, and PP has been delivering on them since the Collossals release (other gripes aside).
It's also awesome to see stuff from the 3.5 Monsternomikon 1/2 releasing.

Good catch. I haven't been following the story, but can anyone comment on her getting magic regenerative powers? 'cause otherwise, uh, damn. That's a big continuity error.
NAVARRO wrote: Wow! Great sculpts! Sexy but not cheesy! Quite feminine too.
The one without cloak, sure.
Still a bunch of boobplate/corset... accentuation on the other two, not to speak of the unmistakably intentional bikini-look of the loincloth on the one in the middle.
Great models, but if this is the benchmark for 'not sexualized' that's a pretty low bar.
