It'd be cool if they could have integrated the unit cards as some device in the game. They're decent quality.

I would love to have little bits of fluff on those cards, not copy past from core book but something new(dont have to be much) about unit.
As for my earlier post, It was as Solkan said but I dont know if it was joke or not, just something that came to my attencion.
Sory for truble We have to wait after new years eve to see if it was joke or not.

I wish they had the stats on them so they could be used as an easy reference.

I agree! Someone did it a few years ago for all the factions. They were card sized, had all the stats with picture and the weapon and ranges on it. Also had points. So you could really just build the army with cards and then be able to reference it all the time.
I asked a few months back on the offical forums if someone has better ones or will be for N3 and pitchforks came. Aparently the army builder is it to them, and anything else is heresy
I would love to see playing cards for the units. I grew accustomed to them playing Malifaux. And I play another game that uses cards -- Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. I find them an indispensable playing aid. Those new blister cards look nice. But I think the reason for no stats on them is language based.

Isn't the N3 roster system supposed to make things all the same regardless of language?
Anyway Knight Models is also Spanish & they've got very useful inserts for Batman.
*shrug* I'm content with the army builder now that I have an iPad from this century.
Current news from CB is that the remaining profiles will be out sometime next week the 6th-8th. For the most part the changes are adjustments in point costs and CC values. Nothing major. Maybe as few small surprises.

Happy New Year Gents.
Points costs will be big yes.
However stuff like hacking devices will matter (at least looking at my Nomads it will!). Looking at my Rev. Custodiers; better keep hacking device plus. Also which units get assault hacking device vs regular ones.
I wonder if some units will have nimbus 'nades replace their smoke?
Hopefully the Salamandra TAG will be back :-/
I'm also eager to see how units like Haramaki & Domaru will fare... also the Oniwaban.

Have to agree here. It's pretty well know that the majority of points values are based on standard equipment and skill costs layered on top of a profiles that have a standard cost, then sometimes rejiggered a bit if they feel like it. You would hope they'd have been smart enough to find a way to calculate those quickly after feeding the values and unit setups in.
Not to mention a lot of the units in the core rulebook got more subtle changes than just CC and points changes. You'd hope they'd give the rest of the range the same consideration simply from a balance perspective.
One might hope that even Sekban might be worth taking....
I just think the length of time is more to do with them not wanting to bugger something up by not testing it properly unlike a certain other company. They probably just don't want to overlook some less noticeable power spike with certain units/combos, particularly in regards to link teams and whatnot.
I would like to see them, however, rejigger some of the skills and their costs a bit more; lord knows the terrain ones really don't come into play much.

Yah it's a shame they haven't been practical compared to other choices. The new models are rad.
^I have to agree... that was kind of lame =/ And the humor was pretty weak too. What to glean from the article? Hacking has a table, as if we didn't know
MDF tiles, these look like they can be rotated to create variety within a city board (they have a locking mechanism on the back to hold them together) - will be interesting to see if they release any more of these
Ariadna buildings - like the idea of this, and pretty original compared to what we have seen so far. You would need some special rule though where if a miniature walks within 2" of the pub entrance, a Wulver comes out and hits them over the head with a chair
Yes they do - I assume it's just a bit of sloppy photo cropping for the white background.
For an Ariadna table, I quite like the idea of putting in some 'Wild-west' type buildings and signs, but with some sci-fi stuff as well. Kind of like something from Firefly, it's how I imagine the Ariadnan frontier towns being.
A few of you asked questions in the sign up - here's some quick answers!
- As you may have heard the 2d20 system core mechanic is actually inspired by the Infinity rules. We'll be talking more about that but have already mentioned this in a couple of podcasts and blog posts in our Advent Calendar.
- We will be producing translations later in the year with other publishing partners for Spanish, French and German (maybe others too)
- You will be playing individual characters from all human factions including Aleph. Supplements will introduce the Tohaa and other possibilities...
- You will be able to use your existing Infinity miniatures if you like to use minis.
- There will be several ways of having characters from different factions working together and there is a big plot for you to follow, as well as numerous other campaign stories, either on the front lines in the Paradiso system or elsewhere in the Human Sphere or beyond...
- Corvus Belli will be producing some sets of RPG miniatures using existing miniatures designs for new players who just want some sample characters, later on and production capacity allowing, Corvus Belli may create some specific miniatures for the RPG. These will not be exclusive to the Kickstarter though will be available there first.
- There will be a whole line of books, we'll be asking questions about what you'd like to see in the next month!
- There will be map tiles and maps for those who like using miniatures with the RPG but neither minis or maps will be required for play. You can simply use your imagination as with other RPG's.
- The adventures will cover both the stories of the Infinity team and their first adventures set during the Campaign Paradiso timeline, but you can also set your adventures during the opening shots of the war when humanity is attacked, or at any other time.
- There will be new and existing art, but we will be showing other sides of the Infinity world that you haven't seen yet, as well as exploring the factions, worlds, technology and more
- There will be a conversion system to take your RPG character in to the tabletop game.
- The pre-order (expected in the 2 months ) will be for fans to order direct from Modiphius, but at the same time we'll be working with distributors to make the books available for pre-order through stores if you prefer to support your local store. However if you pre-order via Modiphius you will receive a series of bonus PDF adventures following the footsteps of the Infinity team's first adventures and you will receive the PDF of the corebook as soon as it's ready.
- The Kickstarter (which will be later in the year) will allow those who missed the pre-order to pick up the corebook with some special deals, along with other books and accessories in the line. The corebook will remain available in retail after the pre-order.
- There will be a special limited edition book in the pre-order and during the Kickstarter. More news on that later!
Heh. I remember about a month or so before the announcement I was planning on contacting CB to ask them for permission to "·publish" a free conversion of the Infinity setting using the rules from Eclipse Phase. Alas, looks like it won't be needed >_>.
That said, I still think (even though I quite like what I've seen of the new Mophidius' house system from the Mutant Chronicles RPG) that EP is not only a good match for Infinity (the core system works mostly exactly the same, except for being percentile instead of d20) but it would also be stupidly easy to hack it for that.
EDIT: I need to see who's going to be doing the spanish version, nonetheless. I'd love to get involved, and I already translate RPGs professionally...
I already commented about the RPG in it's own thread but... pretty nice terrain I really need to work on my own terrain to give it a lived-in 'realistic' feel that they've got going on there. I especially like the sci/future 'neon' holo-server thing on the top, could cover a board in things like that as far as I'm concerned.
287 USD for a table of the street map. Its cool, really, but these companies need to think about prices. Heck I think 65$ for a mouse pad map is a bit expensive because, its just a map. I don't think they take into consideration the cost of all the buildings needed on top of a map
I especially like the idea of a conversion system to bring RPG characters to games of Infinity. If CB couple it with some easy to convert player character models, people can create their own 'Dire Foes'.

Not that expensive compared to what's out there. But for flat streets, I'd prefer HIPS and go with a clean urban Secret Weapon Tablescape.
If I was shelling out for an expensive HDF full table setup, I'd go the whole hog and buy a New Paranoia board.
Nah he simply cannot pronounce it right, I am sure we can get enough bloopers of him saying it even worse to laugh our lungs out.
In all his videos I get the distinct impression there's a great deal about Infinity, beyond how to pronounce everything, that he doesn't fully comprehend.
The old vids were more fun with the accent.
In the original videos it was Bostria speaking. I remember people talking here about his accent. After the first Infinity Week at BoW, Warren re-recorded the English tracks and they re-uploaded the videos. Now they have updated the visuals.
I personally can't stand him... And although Bostria had a funny accent it felt sort of authentic... But really Warren to me is what Matt Ward is to 4chan...
Just a pet peeve but asba German I still wonder why they didn't correct that "Die Morlock Gruppen" gibberish... It's half way there but it makes me cringe every time...
Btw where are the previews for new minis? Can't wait for those!

I've got to say that earlier tip about circular adhesive scrapbooking sticker things was spot on:
I just finished a mess of these tokens. All are double sided so your wound marker can double as an unconscious marker with a quick flip.
They came out good, but those epoxy button caps (or whatever they are) really stick together. I hope they won't permanently adhere to each other while they're packed away.

Because its intentionally wrong, Nomads been Nomads and all that.

Funny how Alguaciles and Mobile Brigada aren't "intentionally wrong", Nomads being Nomads and all that.
I can't remember since it was first raised in the first forum a decade ago, but it was intentionally left wrong because Morlocks are not a German group inside Bakunin, but a detention facility for the worse Bakunin has, their name is pseudo German alluding to the techno industrial theme they have.
Alguaciles have a reason to be named correctly, Corregidor been a huge Latin America prison and all that.
I've only been collecting /dabbling in Infinity for a couple years now, but I'm curious if CB influences the story arc in the fluff based on tournament results in ITS.
IDK how many of you are familiar with Legend of the Five Rings by AEG, but they do a campaign system where the player community's decisions influence what happens in the universe. AEG still dictates the major events of the plot itself. However characters within it change alliances, get killed off, or imprisoned all based on how well your particular faction ranks in official competition. Granted this works easily because its a CCG and there's a zillion unique personalities. Most importantly, it's driven by the game's dedicated fanbase.
Is there anything like this in ITS? Infinity characters are all really based off a unit already in the army lists. Also, we all know the Ko Dali story. Infinity has a dedicated community that does a great deal of legwork for CB to promote the game.
With ITS 2015 upon us presently, I wonder if competition results will ever influence the lore of Infinity & how factions' personalities interact in the fluff.
CB puts a great deal of effort into game balance & organizing ITS fairly in official competition. I wonder if they plan to take the next step and let the tournament results influence the game world in some manner?
Funnily enough, AEG has had to back off that a little bit as it's led to really strange things in the story.
It also means that it's usually only the most power gamer types dictate the story outcomes, which is a bad idea overall.
So, I don't think it's a good idea to let the players make all the decisions. Sometimes the worst decision a designer can make is to give players exactly what they want.
Most good game designers will take community desires into mind anyway when designing units or new story elements.
A lot of the recent talk in here is probably better suited for threads down in the INFINITY area here - 3 sub-forums dedicated solely for INFINITY talk.
^^^That tournament results ( ie the players) should not influence the background or story advancement of the game. Only CB should do that
It appears the N3 pdf profile update will be huge, in terms of page count. And we won't see it tomorrow either ( It's Epiphany. The 12th day of Christmas...) But we will get it the proverbial soon.
Koni has promised to let all know ASAP when it is available. Maybe by Friday?
Maybe we'll get a preview of one of this month's miniatures in the meantime?
The thing I'm well and properly interested in is when they get all of that stuff into the army builder I can look at point drops and reconfigurations all day long but until I have an easy way to swap things in and out of a list most of it goes over my head

Yes congrats for CB winning that award, it was against some stiff competition this year for best sci-fi game.
Re. the last comment, I wonder if GrenAcid means in terms of the development of the game and background in the hands of developers?
I suppose a comparison would be the Star Wars Galaxies computer game, as well as Ultima Online, which were ultimately wrecked because the developers caved into fan demand and wrecked the core mechanics of how the game worked.
CB already has a master plan for the Infinity story line, and while the story has changed from the one planned it has nothing to do with ITS. It has every thing to do with the growth of the Infinity game. So instead of the planned CA taking over the HS, with the Nomads close to following the rest of the HS as their supply lines are gone and the low tech hard ass Dawn governments becoming the saviors of the Human race. We will just have to wait.

Say "quick as a wink" in lieu of "lightning fast". It's best to translate idiom for idiom whenever possible, but it seems that lightning fast isn't quite the idiom for here, IMHO. Either way, El Estimado Koni will let us know Either way...

I'd be surprised if they actually 'ended' the story now. It feels like the original intention was put aside due to the massive popularity of the game. While they probably have an end in mind, as they plan on the books progressing the storyline, it will probably be saved for when the games popularity dwindles.
The camera pans over shots of Humanity triumphiant over the Combined forces and fade to the series credits. Then, half way through the credits, fade back to a Matrix like scene showing Ur drones tending humans in bio-tubes. As one of the drones tends a tube, warning lights go off and the humans in the tubes vanish.

Red Harvest got it right I think CB is doing fine on story progres and giving weel to players migh unbalance game, since we fluff teddy bears dont win tournaments.
Not the best of news but someone on the infinity forums asked on twitter to CB how the status of the rest of the PDFs are comming and they said "we are working hard on it." :/
Honestly, I'm more concerned about the fact that Geckos are only dropping a single point for the Combi Rifle variant (according to -V-, who is working with the new statlines).

And why would that be concerning?
Really?
Hackers are now essentially a "must-have" for the game. They bring a ton for what amounts to a very minimal point investiture.
Geckos, unless they're drastically being overhauled, just do not have the defensive measures necessary to survive in a Hacker heavy game. They're BTS 3 as it stands right now with no ECMs and most prevalent in a Sectorial where there are no DHDs or HD+.
Couple that with an obscene points cost for infantry weapons on a platform that can have the pilot ejected via "Expel" and having to pay(like a lot of Corregidor's stuff anyways) for 0G Terrain--it boggles the mind that someone thinks a reduction of a single point is acceptable.

I'd wait to see what changes happened to Valeria and Wildcats.
Yea I have to admit that I saw the gecko models and fell in love but then looked them up and was puzzled as to why they were basically much worse overall then most YuJing heavy infantry.

I'm being a bit slow - what has this got to do with anything?
Are CB having production issues due to demand? The Morat units have been out of stock from MM and Warstore for over a month now, it's kind of preventing me from purchasing some angry red apes
Warstore is also slow on delivering my Kaysim Beg. It and the Combined Army starter (December Releases) are still considered "Preorder" on both Warstore and MM well past even when the next month's releases have gone on Preorder.
I honestly think they had plenty of profiles already to update. For example there is currently one tiger soldier model still available lol. The minutemen sculpts are a garbage fire as well IMO, yet we got grunt profiles making the queue that much longer, so it was odd to me that the added so many profiles in N3. Did we really need a reverend healer or father knight? There are so many R Moiras and military order knights as it is.
Not a huge problem more then something that stands out as odd to me.
I just wish the current kits would restock in a reasonable time frame.

I'm guessing the current Minutemen mini will be discontinued when they release the resculpts. It's not just that it wouldn't fit very well with newer sculpts. The mini has a Panzerfaust, which is no longer an option for the Minutemen, so...

They could easily do what they did with the Bolts and just release a 3-pack blister temporarily until the USAriadna sectorial lists come out. The Grunts' rules are out. The sectorial is not. It makes very much sense to release models for what exists rather than models for what doesn't exist yet.

Father Knight fills the niche of a HI specialist in MO. The rumour has it that he'll have Haris, which makes him elegant in terms of solving problems with a Knight link teams and scenario requirements for specialists. I see certain logic in this mindset. I'd wish for non-knight specialists.

The 3 Bolts blister came out with the Neoterran Sectorial box and were only done so because of the fact that they wanted to make it easier for Neoterran players to get Bolts without having to buy multiples of the NCA box...at least initially. From now on though, you're either buying from Shae-Konnit's split boxes or stuck with multiples.
The USAriadna Grunts are a different story than Bolts as well. Bolts are AVA3 in Vanilla as of N3. Grunts are AVA2, but we know that they're going to be the Line Infantry for the USAriadna starter.
I just want to let that sink in. Grunts are AVA 2 in Vanilla, while Minutemen and Foxtrot Rangers are AVA 3.
Might we see a single blister of Grunts before Acheron Falls/the USAriadna starter? Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Heavy Flamethrower, Light Shotgun guy get released since he's one that people are excited for...and he also can be used for the Inferior Infiltration profile.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that when the Ariadna starter gets redone before/after Acheron Falls, that they're going to pull another Chasseur and make it the only way for USAriadna players to get a Hardcase Frontiersman.
Red Corsair wrote: I honestly think they had plenty of profiles already to update.
Father Knight fills the niche of a HI specialist in MO. The rumour has it that he'll have Haris, which makes him elegant in terms of solving problems with a Knight link teams and scenario requirements for specialists. I see certain logic in this mindset. I'd wish for non-knight specialists.
Man the whining that's going to coming with all the wish listing going on. The best is the "Healer and Moria" despite there been nothing from CB about it. Not saying both couldn't happen just we have no clue at this point.
Kanluwen wrote: I would be very surprised to see any Grunts before the USAriadna Sectorial box.
They could easily do what they did with the Bolts and just release a 3-pack blister temporarily until the USAriadna sectorial lists come out. The Grunts' rules are out. The sectorial is not. It makes very much sense to release models for what exists rather than models for what doesn't exist yet.
Now you know they did the 3 pack because of the repacks in the starter and not wanting to force people to buy the repacks unless they wanted to.

At least they have more interesting information than the official CB frontpage articles. A rundown on Drone changes are boring but still something to read.
I'm kidding with that jab at CB, of course. I appreciate and think/hope they're allocating writing talent towards the N3HS and C profile update.

In fact it would be amazing. Takes 2x Unconscious to knock them out now, and between reducing the Hacker Tax and lowering actual point costs they cost about 2/3rds what they did. Of course there's all that nasty new hacking around too, but what the heck.
A JSA Karakuri-and-drones list is on my horizon I think.
I feel like there was a missed opportunity here... I would have gone with like "Svetlana's Drive-In" and "Pierre's Pub" or something like that, y'know, since Ariadna is a mix of Americans, Russkies, Scots/Irishmen, Frenchmen, etc.
I expect it was so they'd be flexible enough to be used in otehr lines, though agree it would have been nice to see an alternate set of signs like that.

But, the thing is Ariadna isn't a mix, they each went out of their way to recreate their own society. Then you add the fact that they where in a state of war with each other until the rest of the human sphere found them. Means simple they wouldn't have names like "Svetlana's Drive-In" as it doesn't fit the fluff at all.

Nah they're in keeping with the fluff as is.
I'd imagine they'd be places opened up on Ariadna bases on Paradiso for example. Just like we brought Pizza Hut & Taco Bell to our bases in Iraq.

Bazaars sure their is bound to be some that could see past the 100+ year of war. Hell the only reason they joined the Paradiso campaign and worked with each other is because the 0-12 said they back them for independents, free of Pan-O or YJ influence. The people of Dawn or a long way from being friendly and cross polluting culture.
I rectract my statement of its nice to see them posting "news" articles on their site every few days. Instead of anything rule based, its pretty much more random pointless crap. PDF updates are required, not this junk "news".
Soon to be pitch forks on the infinity site. A lot of TOs are saying their player base is waining and moving to other games because its taking so long. Im sure if there was a big player base here it would be the same.

Yeah, the funny updates are a tad too much "Spanish Humor" it seems.
But for TO's to have their player base moving to other games because it's been less than a month since the N3 rules dropped, and the HS+CP PDFs aren't out yet? The new ITS season doesn't start until February at the earliest.
Have ANY of those players even played an N3 game, much less familiarized themselves with the basic changes brought by N3? To bring in the probable complications from the new PDF's, they might want to get the new rule set well in hand before they go to a tourney and get schooled by someone that HAS got the new rules down to a T.
It's been a very short period of time, in a period of time that is usually a slowdown in hobby gaming due to holidays.
I'm waiting for the PDFs as much as anyone. But really, the existing units and reusing N2 Profiles still works for 95% of the models, and still presents for a good game.
The only things that need changing are pretty cornercase (ie, EVO Repeaters). Everything else can just be directly ported. Alternatively, all N2 profiles except basic LI are discounted 10%, and then prices generally match up with the reductions to stuff like multirifles and multi snipers. Increase TAGSWC cost by 0.5, and remove any non-modelled secondary weapon. Etc.

I'm posting to lighten the mood and repeat what I said X pages ago: the pdfs will be soon, but I will not give any date (it wont be today, obviously). Nor will I spend every two hours to tell you they aren't ready. I will tell you when they are ready. Will they be before the start of ITS? they will, of course. Why does it take so long, Koni?Because they are MANY pages PDF (+/- 200) and in 2 languages, and there is much to review, and it's not enough with 2 eyes nor 4. And it's not enouhg reading it just once.
So take your rest the weekend without stress. And remember, as soon as they're ready I'll tell you.
Greetings and nice weekend
As for the above comment to take n2 guy works 95% of the time, yes and no. I play Aleph mainly. So I hope you can understand that while yes I have used them in a few N3 games, im basically gimping myself pretty hard because im paying more for less. Achillies is terrible, most of the sectorial for them is terrible, because their CC is not on part with most others nor are the points adusted for it. Even basic Aleph is far more over costed then needed to use em right.
Most of the cost-changes are quite easily predictable if you look at what we have. Add +3 to CC on any model with any kind of close combat special rule (some are actually more or less in reality, but it is a fine rule of thumb; and of course, some units will receive a bump without any rules, but for the conversion I would save it for the specialists), reduce the price of MULTI rifles and snipers on units that have them. Knock a point off of the BSG. Give all skirmishers multiterrain.
For the most part you should be golden until the HS profiles drop.
The upside to CB using a point formula is that you can reverse engineer the simpler bits of it and apply it to old profiles. It wont be pitch perfect for all units.
Alternatively, go back to basics and get a taste for what Infinity was like back when 1st Edition dropped and proxy your collection in to stuff in the core book (even works for Aleph and Tohaa). Some of my fondest memories were my groups early proxy-heavy games using the quickstart rules. Though the situation is somewhat flipped. Back then, there weren't enough minis for all the profiles in the core-book, and in this case there are too many minis for the profiles in the core book. But thumbing through my N3 book reminded me of some good times pre-N2 and even pre-HS. N3 is every bit as fully-formed and awesome out of the box as its predecessors even without having all the content of HS and Paradiso out of the box.
Besides, there are enough changes to the base rules that a few weeks without adding the extra content should help a lot of groups get the basics down. I mean, many of us only received our physical books last week, and few have played any games at all. It is kind of a blessing that the full content isn't being posted prior to my games night this weekend, because I want to get a game in with just the basic core rules before pandora's box opens and floods things with HS/Paradiso content.
Hopefully I can get 2-3 games in before that happens so that I can get over my 2nd Edition preconceptions before the complexity ramps up.
200 page pdf? sounds like they're updating more than just units. Sounds like a lot of rules. Sounds like they are invalidating the reason that they didn't just put all the rules in one book in the first place. *slow clap*

The problem with that explanation is that the "200 page PDF" really doesn't mean much when you realize that it is likely a lot of rehashing/rewording of the stuff in Paradiso or Human Sphere.

If they publish Human Sphere and Campaign Paradiso updated to N3 as a free PDF... that would be giving away for FREE 2 books that people would even PAY for.
Scary socialism!!!
In fact, CB will give for FREE stuff that their distinguised competitors will surely release as products, you know, those things that some fools actually BUY.
But, hey, let's keep asking for more FREE stuff from CB, and demand it NOW, and let's keep on doing it with this strange mix of threatening manners and bs.

Seriously, the hardcore fanbase deserves NO PDF.
Third time I'll say it, Alphie.
I'd rather wait for them to make a quality release and do it right. I don't want a broken mess of PDFs rushed out to placate angry nerds.
Doing it right would have been to wait and not rush the N3 book to release in 2014 holiday season, and instead just wait and consolidate everything to be the perfect combination of consolidated book, army builder, and PDFs online.
So yes, I would also like to wait for them to make a quality release and do it right. But since they chose not to, this is pretty reasonable criticism for a poor decision.

How dare a company make a scheduling and production error that results in a minor inconvenience to their impatient customers.
I mean, Wizards of the Coast was burnt to the ground when they released the 5th edition Players Handbook without simultaneously releasing the DM's Guide and Monster Manual.
Yeah, I'm not that worried about an edition shift having delays- Malifaux's has been out for more than a year and some of the old minis aren't statted out again. It's not ideal, but I've had plenty of time learning the new edition without needing access to every model.

How dare a customer call out my favorite besthesth company in the world that can do no wrong for making a bad decision. They will love me no matter what. Certainly my bestest buddy company will never do me wrong, such as wasting hundreds of my dollars by discontinuing my army.
CB doesn't need white knights in the same way GW doesn't. And again, it's really not about the minor inconvenience of a delayed PDF, it's the fact that they chose to release early instead of doing the expected consolidation that would have stopped all of this in the first place. Or, you know what, they could still delay the pdfs for extra units and still have consolidated all the rules, leaving only the additional units for later. Either way, making sure all the rules were there and up front for new players in an $80 rulebook is kind of important.
Lastly, an RPG is pretty different from a miniature game. In such games, it's usually assumed you make up 99% of the game. Indeed, a player's guide is all you really need to start playing since many GMs can just make up the rest of the content during play. That's kind of a terrible comparison.

Yes I feel the same way.
Correct that a slightly updated book with some new stats, perhaps a new unit, could have been constituted as a 'new' release and CB could have taken that route to flog some more books. Glad that they haven't taken that route!
Before Alpharius has to say it, how about we take all the off topic discussion about the not released pdfs elsewhere. When they release (and that is news worthy) you can talk about them here, it is getting tiresome to have to wade through several posts of black knighting and white knighting over pdfs when I just want to see some news.
If I wanted to do that I could go over to the official boards and get my fill.
I hope the 'Limited to 5k' copies really just means the 1st printing. I see 5k copies being sold extremely fast. I can't see why he wouldn't want to sell another 5k copies given the demand (which I think will become obvious).

If it does well I can't see him not printing more, but yeah he's funding it all himself so I understand not wanting to risk printing too many.

We have a Warcor saying they want to get it out by Friday, KEY WORD want.
I'm happy to see Sybil will be appropriately dressed. Some other picture I saw had her in much more revealing attire, and we all know outfits like that are best saved for the battlefield.

They like to save "limited edition" for things like the Tabitha Bolt or the ABH or GoGo Marlene.

I think the Traktor mule Uragan profile might suffer from a typo too, it's now 8 points cheaper than its Katyusha counterpart compared to the 1 point difference in last edition
Edit: Now that I think of it, it's possible that they've changed the weapon's profile making it much worse... I'm not thrilled with that possibility

I'm also not sure if multiple combatants still change the rolls in the same way.
Oh well there's another thread for that, just glad people are getting the PDF and checking it out, you guys are much better at analyzing the changes and making judgements than I am
That was actually my reaction seeing everything in one consolidated PDF! Doesn't look like much changed, but then they said not much would change. Interesting to see that Asawira got a Boarding Shotgun profile. And they dropped nearly 10pts! But given Regenerations nerf and the general downward trend of HI costs, that was expected.

Instead of +3 CC for extra bodies in combat, they now get extra burst instead. So the higher CC stat is necessary from that point of view.
Also, yeah, Chimera has Kinematica 1, but still no hyper-dynamics.

Did anything go up in point cost?
Time to ask the loaded question: Doesn't this kind of across the board reduction in point cost cause power creep?
Certainly seems like there will be more model on the board with so many profiles getting 2-3 points knocked off.
Will there? Or will people just remove a cheerleader or two and squeeze in a more powerful unit. Unless something has changed doesn't the magic number of 10 still hold true for infinity? At least for lists that were already using 10 models. I think it would be pretty cool to see some more 7/7 8/8 or 10/10 combat groups or whatever, but I dunno if a point reductions will change much. If people can get two 10 model combat groups and can't possibly spend their points on 10 models at 300 then maybe we'll see it?
I could be totally wrong too just seems that way to me.
Micky wrote: Vaguely disappointed that some of the new rules (Executive Order, Advanced Command, Forward Deployment) didn't appear on any of the newer profiles. (Sun Tze v2 doesnt count)
There are a few units in the game altogether that have unique rules made just for them.
Aleph's Atalanta, PanO's Joan of Arc, Yu Jing's Sun Tze v2, Aleph's Posthumans, Combined Speculo (Impersonation 2), Nomads Sin-Eaters, etc.
Eventually other profiles may come out that have these formerly unique rules. The Tohaa Chaksa were the first to steal the Sin-Eaters' special rule.
Bladerunner2019 wrote: Time to ask the loaded question: Doesn't this kind of across the board reduction in point cost cause power creep?
Not *everything* went down in price significantly. LI more or less remained the same or dropped 1-2pt. It's the HI that dropped significantly. Seems like more of a rebalancing considering the supersuper cheap stuff like Metros, Imetrons, and Netrods remained the same. Also, very popular units like Lasiq Snipers seem to have remained the same.

Certainly seems like there will be more model on the board with so many profiles getting 2-3 points knocked off.
While light infantry mostly stayed the same, a lot of things with bigger guns got cheaper. This will make peoples typical lists trend down in points, so people can include things they might not have before.
Rather than causing power creep, I think this will let factions play more to their strengths. High tech factions might now be able to fit more fun toys into their lists, but lower tech factions might now be able to more comfortably move to lists with two combat groups, putting more bodies on the table, to tip the balance back.
CB are good at balancing their game. I'm not going to jump to wild conclusions of imbalance based on perusing some army lists for a while. I'd let the game resettle and a few tournaments run through before making balance claims.
A reduction in points costs in Infinity does not result in scale or power creep. Why?
There's many individual models that take up up to or over 1/3rd of your points. But it's a single model. Any list is gimped if it has less than 8 models anyway, and probably awkward if it has 11-14.
If points go down, all that means is the 'eliteness' of a list may go up. Additionally, since most basic profiles are similar but the gizmo cost went down, you'll have more interesting toys but the same model count, or upgrade a basic unit to a slightly more elite unit.
That new thing is... fairly solid.. yes. I don't like how it seems to be Tokyo drifting to the right when I click an army up top such that I have to scroll back over.. but it's not half bad. Easier to go back and forth between units in the same army.
I think it has enhanced cruisability.
Better photos in most cases. Really nice.
But the little fluff blurbs seem to be missing? I liked those, more than once they sold me on a certain unit.
Still, very solid and better than trying to get through the store by itself.
The Pan-O and Nomad starters from O:I are on that page, under the Starter Packs part.
It's good, glad we've got a miniatures page again. It's a bit buggy on my phone but hopefully will be better on my iPad. Missing the fluff though, as mentioned.
I personally liked the older page where the model's name was listed on the thumbnail. Right now, we just have micro-images of a pack's contents with no indication as to how many figures are contained in it.
However, of course it looks pretty. Progress in steps.
They need to put the names in actual text under the thumbnails, so you can use the browser search to quickly find the models you want to see.
The same goes for the unit PDFs. All the entries are image files, including the text, but it's good work for a first draft since I know how time consuming this kind of work is.
Agree with most people here. It needs to change it's design a bit, it was even a bit buggy being to wide on my laptop, which is my only computer.
They should have different pages for the different factions. As of now, it just auto scrolled you down the page instead of redirecting you.
Better thumbnails, with more clearly visible pictures of what unit it is and the names.
Fluff snippets pls.
I'd also like to see the statlines somewhere right there. I think that would be cool. Like, above the hypothetical fluff snippets it says the unit's name, and under that the statline and equipment. Maybe not every loadout, but you know.
Still though, if it is sort of a WIP, it's great. Looks way better than the old version. Lots of potential.
Its worth noting that in their weekender show, BoW mention that this is not a one off, and Giraldez will be producing content with them regularly now, he apparently got in touch with them himself.
Any hope for the Alguacil box soon? Not like CB needs any more of my $$
Happy to see the Szalamandra is indeed still in the lists. Though I'm disappointed that along with the Geckos they remain expensive. TAGs took a hit in utility in N3
Last thing I heard was that both the Alguacil box and the Teucer mini were postponed indefinitely-- casting issues apparently. There have been such things in the past, such as with Diomedes.
Most recent rumor that I have heard about releases is this:
-Yan Huo ML -Ragik (probably a spitfire to replace the discontinued HMG)
-SWC box of Unidrons
-Pan-O starter (from Icestorm)
-Nomad starter (from Icestorm)
Nothing for me there, since I will use my Ragik HMG as a proxy for the spitfire. Unless the new Ragik is awesome, of course.
I do hope the new weapon profiles appear this week. And everything else.
Very excited for the Unidron SWC and the Yan Huo. And I'm looking forward to seeing the redesigned Ragik, they were one of the Hassassin units I didn't really like (I also don't really like the Fiday).

I haven't had a chance to really dig into the PDFs yet, so I'm glad to hear that the Szalamandra didn't get Caskuda'd!
Less happy to hear that T.A.G.'s took the N3 utility hit without the N3 benefit of points adjustments.

Hope it's going to work on iPhones too. This is a good excuse to redevelop the layout
It really wouldn't work. The iPhone screen is far too small for it. I can't think of a layout that would work, even having each 'pane' as a whole screen that you swipe through, that would work. There's always Ops: Infinity for the iPhone, but they haven't been particularly speedy with N2 updates, so I'm not sure if it'll even see an N3 update.

If it helps, I can point you in the direction of a number of areas where TAGs improved through changes to the game mechanics. This thread probably isn't the place for it though...

I haven't noticed any emphasis on the butts as far as the miniatures are concerned.
I've been collecting Ariadna, and more than a few, particularly Kazak and Merovingian models tend to have the strangest posing and rather ridiculous outfits compared to their male counterparts, save the one female Moblot with the panzerfaust.
With models like this, I'll pass on Chasseurs for the time being.

As a N2 rookie and a N3 noob, I would really appreciate that!
See you down in...Infinity Army Tactics and Lists?
No clue what it is. I'm thinking it might be a new Mercenary character of some kind, as "Le Muet" is French for "Silent Films" or "Silent Movies"...which makes no sense whatsoever, but hey.

Actually "Muet" translates directly to "Mute", so "Le Muet" is translated as "The Mutes" (or "The Silent Ones" if you don't wan't to be so literal).
Still not sure how I feel about the batroids. More likely to backup my Shasvastii with the newest stuff than Morats though. Looks very sharp, just not sure if I like the aesthetic. Sniper rifle is maybe a bit plain?
Those new Batroids look rather spiffing. I love how the alien conception of the weapons technology has turned out.
Agree though as cool as it looks the sniper rifle is a bit impactical, especially if you are as clumsy as I am. If I were using it as a playing piece I would probably cut it off and pin so it could be separated for transport.
I think clipping away the front half of the barrel (you can see the dividing line), drilling out the end of the "pinecone," and then seating it on the shortened barrel would make for a still-interesting yet sturdier gun.
I'm really digging the overall Unidron design too. I was decidedly lukewarm when I first saw their concept art, but they manage to pull of the menacing bio-tech look really well... And their weapon designs are extremely cool because of their uniqueness. I was all set to jump into MAF for my post O:I purchases, but I think the new CA starter and this set have convinced me to go EI heavy vanilla instead.
It's made of metal, not finecast or plastic. The only threat would be a minor bend if you mishandle your carrying case. Just add reinforcing foam and hope the model doesn't topple over and everything should be fine. The sniper rifle looks like it's attached as part of the whole arm anyways.
I wonder if the Dakini Tactbots will ever get a giant sniper rifle of their own. These Unidrons are basically CA Dakini anyways.
solkan wrote: I like the weapon, it's just not going to be pointed horizontally across the table like that when I get done assembling the model.
If it gets bent to the left or right then you can shoot around corners :p
The sniper looks good either way. CA are getting more and more temping every release.
The Morat Starter was the best seller of 2014, so I think a lot of players agree with you I would bet the CA one is going to put up impressive numbers for 2015.
I still feel like Shasvastii or GTFO, but depending on what else comes out along the lines of the newest CA starter... my pod people may be getting some backup eventually.

I primarily collect MAF, but I do the same thing as I buy other CA models to back them up and just do Vanilla with a heavy use of Morat.
I still need a Sphynx and maybe a light-middleweight to really 'finish' my faction to playable levels, but after that I may have to consider the new starter. That tall dude is *begging* for a light saber
UNDER 3RD ED RULES, ARE FIRETEAMS RESTRICTED
TO A LIMITED SET OF POSSIBLE ORDERS?
They are. In 3rd Ed, Fireteams cannot declare any Entire Order Skill without the Movement Label. Should a member of a Fireteam declare an Entire Order Skill without the Movement Label (such as Speculative Fire), he abandons the Fireteam.
For example, a member of a Fireteam could declare Jump or Climb without abandoning his Fireteam, but declaring Intuitive Attack or Suppressive Fire would automatically cause him to act outside the Fireteam.
Seems one is best off sticking fairly conventional troops with conventional weapons in link teams; flamethrowers, blast weapons and that sort of thing are best deployed elsewhere.
Makes links a little more simplistic in their usage, but also encourages specialists to actually strike out on their own. I can't say I'm overly peeved, but the loss of speculative/suppression fire in particular will weaken some options.
Eh, I'm fine with them mostly being for direct offense and defense purposes. Losing speculative shot means no more spec-fire at -3 instead of -6. Probably for the best considering the most common use of this was to lay down accurate out-of-LOF smoke with Celestial Guard and the like. With shadow zones going out the window this certainly got a bit better. And considering one of the best ways to attack a link is with speculative fire, it means that link teams aren't one of their own best counters now (alongside cheat DTW warbands). And SS2 means that they were probably better off letting a hidden model try to attack them instead of getting proactive with intuitive fire.
And of course, the changes to climb and jump mean that link teams are now even more mobile than ever since they can use those actions with some degree of success since those actions are generally useful to everyone now (I can't stress this enough, a model going full parkour without super-jump and climbing plus saved my bacon last game). So anything that makes movement more efficient gets a massive boost in this edition (jump/climb buff + vaulting obstacles your silhouette or less).
But this means that you will still need individual troops for some roles (supportware, speculative fire, intuitive shot camo hunting, etc.).
And at least this means no +1B Imperial Agents using triangulate fire to gut things 48" away with basic rifles and MULTI rifles (though sensor still stacks nicely with the link bonuses to make a linked sensor better at spotting camo than an MSV2).
