I thought about it, but it was meant to represent an actual Wraithlord corrupted by the Haemonculi (and similar bumps are not uncommon on Dark Eldar models).

Fair point, did you consider adding to one/some of them, some sort of dark eldar wotzitt or gubbins to show the perversion of the technology? or even making it obvious that one/some of them have beem tampered with/removed?
If you go into the GW website and into bitz for warhammer fantasy theres a page for wings where you can buy them seperately. Really handy for conversions.

Although FWIW the wings on that particular model are from the DE Scourges.
and also i am quite liking the shock attack pistol although where do the grots go?
you really don't want to know but since you asked I'm gonna tell ya, there's a pain boy ready to insert them up his ass..... or into the backpack he's not quite showing us but the funnel is just visable above his head
My converted counts-as Vulkan He'stan, from a Sword Brethren model:
Spoiler:
My librarian, also from a Sword Brethren model. Not much conversion so muchof a head and weapon swap (yes, that's a different power sword blade from the original model since the original broke off):
Anvildude wrote:@HeartSerenade A Chi-Ro? Interesting. I suppose you're going all out on the 'Crusader' theme, then?
Very much. if you would notice there's also Alpha Omega signs, IHS (In Hoc Signo Vinces) signs, lots of crosses and the dreadnoughts are named after the Four Evangelists.
Sorry, I have a minor in Art History and... well I like Medieval Christian art. So there.
Hey man... Very cool looking conversions. Love the way you painted the swords, they look like they are just pulsing with energy or something like that... good job

Thanks! I had a real tough time painting those swords, I'm glad someone likes them!
That archon is outstanding! The scythe looks so nimble, and where did you get the wings from? I'm guessing the Sanguinary Guard? Hope to see it painted!
Sweet dread Qorbin! I don't see that large size being good for in game, as it would be a way bigger target, but it looks awesome, and really, that's all that counts sometimes.

I dosen't make my models cheesy but instead how I want them, thats why!
... Why haven't more people used Skaven parts when making Nurgle stuff? I mean, really. I kinda want to see some sort of Slaaneshi Dred using the Doombell, too now.

I have thought of using the Screaming Bell for some kind of Chaos Word Bearer Temple Land Raider thing.
But I really don't know off an easy way to mix the parts and still make a believible model.
Some conversions are just better in the imagination.
wow its like epic chaos time or something, that dread thing is Awesome and i am loving the nurgle dread as well. also like the red on that khorne guy, very nice
I simply work an an illustrious Grocery Store (starts with a T ends with an 'ader Joe) and i Fething love those bannana-apple juice crunches, NO SHAME!
Well I can't decide which is my favorite so i'll let you guys decide for me!
Dread 1. Was originally http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/197416-.html but i made some changes to match the others.
Dread 2. Originally an AoBR Dread. Papa Nurgle got a hold of him and things started growing.....
Dread 3. I like converting the first one so much, I decided to get another and let him rot in the puss pits
and here is his unpainted base he will be mounted to
I didnt plan anything on tis model, the biz just flew together
LOOTAS
That pink horror didnt dwell long in my biz box before he was used
I just like how the custom rokkit launcha turned out
Cutthroatcure wrote:Hey Merlin, I am gonna snatch that rokkit Ideas as that is Brilliant!

lols, just kiddin
In case you havent jet recognized the stuff: I glued a cut-off bit of a nobs choppa in the place of the shoota-rokkitz barrel, and fixed the rokkiz from the other komi-shootarokkit to that. though I cut apart like 10 bitz in order find something fitting....
Mine - I just finished him last week. He's intended to be my version of a Grandmaster of Librarians - it's probably worth noting that I'm still trying to figure out what to do to his scythe blade to make it look better, and the photo may not be the greatest.
A simple Vulkan HeStan. Painted in my Army colors, not epic or anything, but completely WYSIWYG.
Gauntlet Heavy flamer
Kesare's Mantle and dragon headed pack
Relic Blade
That's incredible, how long did it take to sculpt? Reckon I'll have to try and do some grotesques based on this, do you have or know of any gs tutorials that'll help me get there?

Thanks a lot - I've never sculpted in green stuff before, so it took a while - probably like 4 hours. The new liquid green stuff is great for smoothing afterwards. A better shot of the back muscles:
I don't have any tutorials on hand, but using spit as a release agent for the tools is very helpful.

Looted dread looks about right, though it looks like its defying gravity with that huge claw. If i was handling it, id mount some outlandish device on the claw arm, and call it an anti-gravity device...
There are just a lot of awesomeness in this thread!
And I'm happy to join it with the model, which I deem worthy to call "my best", well, at least for now:
You can click the pic for a zoomable image in Dakka galerry.
A short story behind the miniature:
Spoiler:
So here he stands tall, "Loud" Gunter, veteran and master of battlefront, famouse not only for his incredible strength, courage and booming voice, but for his weapon of type, rarely seen in the arms of Space Marines - his assault cannon "The Emperor's Roar".
This artifact was a gift from Magos Explorator, whos excavation mission was overwhelmed by the horde of rampaging Orc looters and nearly wiped out, when the rescue team, lead by Sergeant Gunter, descended from the orbit right in between, protecting the remaining Techpriests like a living but impenetrable shield.
With cold blood and Bolter fire they held the line, yet the numbers of xenos seemed endless... So not to say about the defenders.
And it was then he saw an assault cannon amongst other artifacts, recovered by the Techpriests, locked and loaded, ready to spill the blood of unclean, and in a moment later the six-barreled vengeance was risen and the mighty roar flew over the battlefield as the veteran shredded through the greenskin ranks with unbridled wrath and thousands shells. The battle was over in no time as the hundreds Orcs were ripped apart in a blink of an eye.
"Now it is yours" - the Magus said as the echoes of cannon fire died away "The spirit of the weapon has chosen you. THE Emperor himself has chosen you".
So the artifact got it's name. And it is interesting to note, that no one of the Expedition can recall the cannon being loaded as it was recovered in unusable condition.

Yep, I'm quoting a pic. This is awesome. Have you WIP shots of the mini, I'd love to see how you built it! Great job!
@Winterdyne:
You can browse through my P&M blog, linked in my sig, or simply visit the WIP album withing Dakka gallery with a lot of shots, taken during the progress.
By the way, I saw some of your stuff here on Dakka and CMoN gallery and I must say it's an honor to get a compliment from such a modeller!
I think this is my favourite thread on Dakka Anyway - it's nothing really, compared to some kick-ass-awesomeness that's shown here, but here's one of my HWT.
My best conversion would actually by a SOB Exorcist, but I don't have pics of it yet.
Cheers!
That bearded fellow is looking very nice indeed. The basing is great too- are those sprue pieces for broken columns?
He's also got a really pensive look thats hard to acheive at this scale- very impressive.

Hey, thanks for the comment. As for the columns - yup, the sprue pieces. I like to find some use for them from time to time. Here they look surprisingly well.
As for being pensive - well, I think it's the matter of a poor photo, cause in reality he has more of an angry look
Well here I've been watching this thread for probably a year, I think it's finally time to post something in it. Finally had the drive to finish this thanks to Unluckyguardsman's awesome competition. There are definitely some other great entries, at least one of which has already shown up in this thread. Anyway, here she is, my Saint Celestine Conversion.
Very brief background:
Spoiler:
Living Saint Bellanya began her service as a Sister Hospitaler and was renowned for her kind treatment of patients, known as Gentle Annie. She became a living saint during her defense of patients during a chaos uprising, and went on to fight with the newly-created Order of the Sable Heart.
Cutthroatcure- I cheated and used some non-GW parts; it's the bottom half of the warmachine Harbinger of Menoth. Still metal, and still a royal pain to put together, but I think it ended up working out.
My Necron Overlords, first is still a bit of WIP. Second is my oldcron lord that I felt deserved to be an overlord to to his performance as a lord before

Yes she is a named character for the DE. I used the bottom section of a vampire countress' body, wych upper and the extra bits from reavers to make the fan. Shardnet for back of skirt.

Yes, yes he is flipping the bird. My opponents always said his presence was like a big middle finger that wouldn't go down, so I cut that stupid pewter res orb out of his hand and made him flip the bird. A lot of my inspiration comes from what my opponents say
And thanks! The scythe blade was a pain to cut out. Glad to see my effort is appreciated.
Here is some fluff. If you want to know why. It's silly really. But none the less I like it.

Here he is.
There is great work by everyone here. I love how this thread never dies!
Hehe, all 3 names together (Carter, Green and Ross) are a reference to a somwhat appropriate TV show. If you can guess which one you win an internet cookie!
Glad to see others finding uses for the extra reaver cowls. Like your go at the Baron. I just used a wyches head and a cape from a wood elf. He is also in most of my army lists.
This is my take on Harald Deathwolf, Wolf lord. He was originally Njal Stormcaller but as he came with a broken staff and no raven for his shoulder I decided to convert him into a wolf lord. Still a WIP as need to get him painted proporly.

Well... considering the new army I'm building is going to be VERY VERY VERY conversion heavy... I'm sure alot of them will end up here eventually... but here's a "counts as" Terminator Sorcerer...
Mind the crummy photo's... I cant find my camera with the super macro setting...

I was eating my lunch when i read that!!!
Hahaha!!!, sorry about that.
I should have pictures up by tomorrow I'm aiming to finish him tonight.
Can't decide what to do with the banner though as at the moment it's just a flap of naked skin and my free-handing skills aren't too great so i might just use a fine liner pen and draw on some suitably nurglesque runes...

Here's one that is incomplete as of right now... it's a surprise christmas gift for a friend since he once used a land raider on a chopped off Mt. so mind the photo from a phone (and the sloped tail fins, since they are not pinned in yet)

I hope you guys paint mountain dew somewhere on there, or put a cap on the base.
The battle angel is awesome!! But, is there any way you can beef up her lower legs even the smallest bit. Kida looks like a chicken inspired tank like that
@Ribbon Fox: Love the tank idea! great job of creating different versions too!
I do agree about the legs being a bit too tiny. Have you tried doubling the leg sections?
Just a thought!
My Manticore built from a Chimera and the Whirlwind Launcher from a old school SM Whirlwind. ( I went to buy one for a tournament, but the last one was purchased and converted in to an Exorcist )
And my scratch-built Thunderbolt count-as built from a Dauntless Devastator model I had hanging around.
^He looks really nice, the loin cloth is a bit too big, but not big enough to look bad at all. Probably more a case of my personal preference. Where did you get that head?
@ Gareth: Shadowsun looks superb! I prefer armored versions myself, but the cartoony tau look is sweet, too. I love the whole face hugger bid beast! what's bursting out of the dead IG man's ribcage?
Here's a count's as Abbadon model for my new CSM list... obviously the main model is a scibor model... but the conversion I wanted to point out (which is kinda hard to see in these photos, sadly) is the Marneus Calgar style underslung bolter power fist... had to model something on it for his "gun hand" to be represented in the model... the bullet belt feeds up his harm and into the armor under the shoulder plate...
Here's the leader of my CSM force, the Bilious Prophets. He's been in this unpainted stage for months now, but that will soon change. Not sure what to name him yet...
Hi I thought I'd a few from various Chaos factions from my Chaos Space Marine army, there are loads of other conversions in my gallery or check out the army profiles in my blog.
Hope you like them
Captain Stern having a bad day with the obliterator virus, the runes are trying to burn out the abomination growing within.
The first two of my Emperors Children Terminators, the third is finished and can be found in my chaos blog toward the end. Still working on the fourth.
Next up is a small conversion on a big model, Forge World Daemon Prince with Zombie Dragon wings.
Lastly as its a big pic my Thousand Sons Necrodefiler

I agree Gorandius there are infinite possibilities when doing chaos makes it so much fun. I really like your Nurgle HQ unit I think its fantastic, is the base model the new Nurgle Champion for WFB?
I was hoping some one would reply to the thread as we posted at the same time and I didn't want my message to be lost (appended).
Your stuff sticks out too much for it to get ignored. No worries there, man.
To answer your question... I originally wanted a plain CSM Term Lord, but then I realized "This IS madness! More CHAOS!!" Took parts from that kit, WFB zombies and the CSM Term Lord box. Plus a maddening amount of green-stuff...that is, considering his overall size.
Those models of yours are giving me the Chaos itch!! I'm definitely going to be looking through your gallery tonight for more Chaos-induced inspiration!
