seriously, what was Annie's deal? What made her into such a psycho? And how the sam hell did she get her hands on whatever Titan Serum Dr.Jaegar produce? That's what annoyed me about the last episode. Too many questions
well, I have been watching a few of the new animes, here's my personal opinion:
- Coppleion : Three girls, immune to radiation, are sent into the dead, radioactive ruins of Tokyo on a special mission. Genres: Sci-fi, Post Apocalyptic After 2 eps: It takes a special skill to turn an anime based on Sci-fi and post apocalypse scenario into something very, very, very boring. After 2 eps we got some character development but honestly, not much beyond that. To make matters worse, they aren't that interesting. I also just can't understand why they are dressed as school girls... they are headed to the ruins of a post-apocalypse event in search of "something" (we already know their missions, avoiding spoilers) and yet, they head there dressed as school girls. Damn it, at least give them some official uniforms.
- Walkure Romanze: After having to quit his own knight training because of an injury, a young man decides to become an assistant to a maiden knight in training instead. Genre: Fantasy, Romance Fan-service ahoy, which isn't a big surprise (it was an adult visual novel) but it was pretty fun. Not much of an opinion after 1 episode but I'll probably see where it goes. PS: The armors KICK ASS. Not skimpy, not one bit, they only have an open area for the skirt and that's it.
- Log Horizon: When 30,000 people are trapped inside a MMORPG, two real world friends and an assassin companion struggle to live in their new reality. Genre: Sword Art Online This one is good, very good so far. No BS, action from the start. It isn't as dramatic as SAO, there's no big bad guy who trapped the players inside the game (that we know of, so far). You die, you respawn. They are really trapped inside the game. I expect more action scenes than we had in SAO. Very funny too, I genuinely burst laughing with the scenes between the Ninja and the Guardian. It probably has the cutest Ninja I ever saw. She's cute AND awesome:
Spoiler:
- Wanna Be the Strongest in the World! (Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai! : One day a popular idol suddenly decides to become a professional wrestler. Genre: Sports I'll be honest, I decided to give this a go because of the fan-service it probably had. Female wrestling and all. Nope, not anymore, it's surprisingly good. It doesn't even have much of fan-service and when it does, rarely it's in a situation I'm not thinking "OUCH, legs are not supposed to bend that way!". Exceptions: the start of the first episode when's she's still an idol with the breast groping scene and the move "Shame Hold". Oh dear, now that was fan-service. I don't know if it's that common in wrestling anime / games because I remember this move from Rumble Roses XX. The main character isn't annoying, she's taking this as SERIOUS BUSINESS and there hasn't been lots of nonsense either. I'll probably keep watching this one, I'm genuinely rooting for the main char.

And I'm really happy Eren doesn't go SHINJI mode in the manga. Nope, no bs there, no "Can't fight her, it's Annie, oh no, I really can't fight her, I have to be nearly crushed by a building to actually fight". Mikasa just says "The world is cruel" and he goes "Yeah, you are right" and proceeds to beat the sh*t outta her. He doesn't even berserk in the manga, he seems to be in complete control until the end so I like the manga's Eren far more.

Well,
Spoiler:
the point is that it leaves you with questions.
This is pure speculation on my part, but I think that its the other way around. Dr Jager got the Serum from wherever Annie got it.

Spoiler:
I don't think she actually went psycho. If you read the manga you'll see that the side that she's on doesn't appear to actually be bad. I feel like she was forced into it, we still don't know though. It should be obvious though by what Irwin says as to who the real bad guys of the series are. In fact a lot of the Survey Corps officers give off a lot of information if you really focus on what they say
Watch it is just his dirty magazine stash.
Here is my theory
Spoiler:
It is the king who got Erens father to make the serum? Why? He needed a way to control the populace through fear or else they might revolt. So he has the titan serum made to make human titans to help with the invasion, but they dont know it. Erens father wants to use it to fight the titans
Im more interested in the story about the Miner and the Wall. Why is it so deep?

Ai, I suspect the Titans may have been man-made. Not sure what programmed them to eliminate humanity though. A skynet type thing, perchance?
Also, is it wrong that I like that Zoe lady? She amuses me
Grey Templar wrote: Another thing, it seems like half-way through the series they renamed them from Recon corps to Survey corps. At least on the sub I watched anyway.
I understood that the Survey Corps was a part of the Recon Corps.
Then again, it is subbed, so the translation may have hiccuped.
By the way, the sound track is probably the best thing in the anime. Except for the second opening theme, which was a tad meh. Thematically suitable, but it pales in comparison to its predecessor.
EDIT: According to the wiki, both is suitable. They are also called the Scouting Legion.
AduroT wrote: The subs I watched called them by three different names thruout the anime, and also changed how they refered to the Titans a time or two as well.
Yeah, there was one sub where they were called Eotens.
Holy feth. The miracle at the end of Devil Survivor 2: The Animation Episode 10, actually made me tear up a little. This anime is looking forward to a /very/ nice rating from me.
What has been seen can be vigorously ignored and have it's existence denied.
Re Devil Survivor 2: Yup, easy 9, the only thing preventing a 10 is rewatchability. If I come back to it a few times, it could easily see it's score improve.
You should see my rating system. It consists of OMG I want to forget this so i can watch it again fresh, dam that was not any other category, average/not really getting me/boring, and don't pick this up it will burn your hands with unholy energy. I gave DS2 a good I think.
I watch on Pinoyanime.tv as their streams are iPhone compatible. I prefer dubbed when possible as then I don't have to constantly keep my attention on the screen, but watch mostly subs anymore as I'm watching more new stuff as it comes out.
I use Animecrave and Animeplus. Not nearly as many annoying ads as other places(can't stand self-playing ads that you have to turn off, but only return after the page has cycled)
I don't really have a preference, I'll watch stuff dubbed or subbed.
Only reason I don't like subs sometimes is when the subs are hard to make out or they blend into the background. Couldn't watch Gunslinger Girl because of that.
Grey Templar wrote: I use Animecrave and Animeplus. Not nearly as many annoying ads as other places(can't stand self-playing ads that you have to turn off, but only return after the page has cycled)
Animecrave has the best layout I've found so far.
Try an ad-blocking program, that should be able to help you out.
Has anyone watched Silver Fox? So far I'm enjoying it. A nice little show that never really goes over the top with itself. Actually interesting watching the character's interact with one another cause it's never really clear who wants what and why.
I assume he means clean of virus'. I've never gotten a virus from such sites but sites rarely carry virus', advertisements linked to the site do. An ad-blocker will prevent you from catching a lot of the virus' that are on the net.
Makoto is the fifteenth generation heiress of a small shrine to the god Inari. Her father is still the shrine's priest, but Inari's divine messenger, Gintarou, has appeared to Makoto, marking her as true successor. Gintarou has the ability to see a short distance into the future and to find lost objects, but is unmotivated and foulmouthed. In spite of this, he becomes friends with Makoto, and together they help those who come to the shrine.
Its only two eps in thus far. It strikes that nice balance of not taking itself too seriously while not taking itself too lightly. It's a slice of life format from what I can tell but the opening sequence might suggest a shift to an arc.

Oh! Gingitsune right! Not sure why I wasn't putting two and two and two together there sorry! Yeah it's cute so far, I really like the anime, I hope it doesn't get too serious if it starts an arc.

I liked the first 2 as well. Very relaxing and cute so far. Just everyday life with a twist of fantasy.
Well, besides that, Kill la Kill IS fething AWESOME! I have no other way to put it.
It's so insane, action packed, original, stylish, pervert in so many different ways it's gloriously good! I haven't seen an anime with so much insanity since Excel Saga.
Even Ryuko's sui's "face" looks like a Gurren Lagann mech! I can't wait for more episodes of this show, this is too damn good!
I finished AoT too! I gotta say, its on of the best anime I've seen in a while. I really hope they continue it (the anime). I haven't looked at the manga yet though, I probably should.
I sooo want to see an Angry Marine duke it out with with a titan.
No wait, I got it - Warhound Titan vs 15 meter class titan. They are roughly the same size, right?
Oh, oh, even better. A Warboss.
Just imagine it: This big, gnarly looking warboss glances at a 15m titan and bellows at it "Oh so ya think ya ar' da biggest and da baddest git around eh'? Well guess wat...I'M DA ZOGGIN' BOSS YA ZOGGA!" before charging at it at full speed with an oversized battleaxe
A Warhound titan vs. a 15m class titan? That'd be a short fight. The Warhound would shred it before it even got near close combat range.
So I started watching the anime Blue Drop last night. The following is a no gak transcript of my reaction to the first episode. I'm not gonna spoiler it except for one small detail, I mean it's all generic and it's all an E1 reveal but you deserve that special moment of "wat" for yourselves should you choose to watch this.

Girl B gets a vision of the MYSTERIOUS TRAGEDY (tm) in her past. Then her eyes go blue and then tries to choke her out.
(Girl A's tragedy to be precise)

There was also a flash of a giant battleship type thing
I have NO fething clue what's going on.

On another "new anime note"
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: this anime is weird as hell, In Short Alien tech takes the form of WW2 era naval ships, chase humans out of the sea (as in all shipping capacity, etc) then manifest pretty female avatars for themselves for... reasons. The Blue Steel is also known as the IS-401 (Imperial Submarine 401, a VERY VERY large WW2 era Japanese submarine) that is serving a human crew for... reasons as well. Apparently the avatar of one of the heavy cruisers trying to kill them becomes enamored with the human captain of the IS-401. Which is taking Tsundere to whole new levels if instead of slapping you the romance du jour can launch cruise missiles when you tick her off. Makes you wonder what she'd consider a grope though. Careful with that throttle!
Attempts at humor aside I'd recommend this one out of the current season. It's surprisingly light on fan service. (so far) Unless you're like me and warships duking it out counts as fan service.
Apeggio is a fun Manga that doesn't waste much of your time with overt silliness. Just wait to Haruna, Lady Battleship of the Bad Ass Overcoat, appears;
Honestly I'm fairly convinced half the reason this series exists is so the artist can draw lots of girls in cool outfits cause the character design in the series is awesome. It never strays to overtly into 'this girl is dressed like this purely to be sexy" but manages to have that sort of tastefulness to it that is both good looking and really cool (if that makes sense). The story isn't bad either and really manages to carry the mystery of "WTF is going on" in it.
I saw it coming and planed to watched it before it even arrived. I haven't watched the episode that came out today though. I have work to do and dakkadakka is just about as much time wasting as I can justify.
Over the last year, I've been on a Gundam binge, particularly the One Year War and Neo Zeon wars era. So that's:
Mobile Suit Gundam
War in the Pocket
Stardust Memory
08th MS Team
IGLOO
Zeta Gundam
ZZ Gundam
Char's Counterattack
Unicorn
Since the final episode of Unicorn doesn't come out until next year, I watched Death Note after remembering how my friends from college kept talking about how awesome it was. And it didn't disappoint.
I want to like Unbreakable Machine Doll, cause the animation and setting are totally cool. But Yaya, damn she is so freaking creepy. I know know what it is about this particular anime but they take something fairly common and slam it in your face over and over and you just want to stop watching XD
Grey Templar wrote: Better than most. Often they don't even get to get to a satisfactory resolution before ruining it.
Well I dunno if I can rightly call it ruining. It was a well told, gorgeous story.... that emotionally savaged me. Beautiful all over. High marks. Highly recommended.
I won't give Blue Drop a numeric score, I will say it is on my "Buy" list however.
Re: Unbreakable Machine Doll, I tend to skip any anime with "Doll" in it after Rosen Maiden being so utterly terrible. I gave Fantatista Doll a break last season because it was essentially a weird combination of Card Captors, Poke'mon and uh... well I dunno add something here. That went poorly. Give me a 2 line summary on it Hats?

During the early 20th century, along with technological advancements, scientists were able to develop sophisticated magic. The combination of science and sorcery was Makinot, circuits made from spells that were put into objects to bring them to life and even gain a personality. It was developed as a military weapon and has now spread throughout the world.
Akabane Raishin is now attending the Royal Academy to become the best in the world. Accompanied by the lovely teenage girl Yaya, who is actually Raishin’s puppet weapon, he plans on rocketing to the top of the class. However, his test scores come nearly dead last although his combat skills and determination are second to none. Raishin has to compete with the deadliest of classmates if he wants to come out as the king.
The premise of the series is really cool. It looks like someone at the Royal Academy killed Raishin's sister or maybe a close friend (who is identical in appearance to his doll Yaya) and I'd love to watch the show but Yaya is just so damn annoying and creepy. He so much as talks to another girl and she asks him to take his pants off so she can 'inspect' for any funny business. I can get behind weird characters but I have my limits damn it.

Shuffle. Male lead is a surprisingly decent human being. Especially for the genre.
I wouldn't call Tenchi clueless, pervy or shy either. Very out of his depth, but that's what you get in his case. His home on a regular day is home to more political power and fire power then most space nations.
I felt Hei lost a bit of awesomeness after he started being a drunk, lol. The *almost* hobo look kinda detracts from his overall character too. Gotta admit though, I really liked the ending.
Well, that was kind of the point. He had to show the Court that he can take "care" of Eren when the time comes, and that Eren wasn't quite the threat they thought he was.
What better way to show that then beating 20 times of crap out of him.

Seriously, she's like a r63 Doctor Insano. If she ever yells out "SCIENCE!" in a maniacal fashion, I may possibly squee.
Sasha is an awesome character but there's not much depth to her. Soon after you'll know her a bit more. Hanji has to be one of my favorites characters, ever. The episode focused on her was absolutely delicious. Krista is a Goddess. GODDESS.
But don't sell Mikasa short. She's freakin' amazing, absolutely freakin' amazing. She's so bada$$, she truly cares about Eren and the way she blushes when the guy says "Mikasa, protect your boyfriend" was absolutely adorable.
Spoiler:
And Mikasa seems to be one of the few with the BALLS to do what must be done and truly understands how much fethed everyone is. Those final episodes really show how badass Mikasa is and I hope she remains that way. Annie going rogue? She was previously their buddy? feth that, she's a traitor, she's going down

Oh, I wasn't hating on Mikasa, and she is several flavors of awesome. I like her practical nature and how she doesn't suffer from any illusions about the world. It's just I will feel very, very bad if Sasha dies. Like, Petra bad, except worse. Also, Sasha is a red head. So she wins out
Of course, now that I typed that, she will probably die early second season. I call this the "law of G.R.R Martin"
I was fully prepared for Mikasa to die in that last episode.
Spoiler:
She hopped out when Annie was trying to escape and I was like "o'crap, she's gonna die isn't she?"
This series definitely makes you feel like nobody, and I mean nobody, has any amount of plot armor whatsoever.
Yep. Pretty much the law of G.R.R Martin in effect there.
Even the characters with plot armor gets it rough.
My "oh crap, Mikasa is dead already?!" moment came during that battle in Trost, when she was out of fuel and that Titan was closing in.
Spoiler:
I really wasn't expecting the elite squad to die that early though. That took me off guard. Petra especially got it rough; I'm still a bit shocked by that 0_o
Well, just finished Claymore. Not quite dissappointed. Hoping for the S2 that will never come, going to start on the manga at the point where the anime "leaves off". It was plenty violent though and I did recommend it to someone.
I need more violence though. I'm checking out Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica because I'm told it's fairly dark for a magical girl anime, and I keep seeing that darn cat everywhere so I want to know what that's all about.

Speaking of violent and dark animes, I have found a small list of thriller / psychological / mystery anime I'm planning to watch but several people mentioned the lack of "Mirai Nikki". Now I'm watching that one, and holy feth:

She is scary as fething hell. Seriously. SCARY, AS, HELL. Episode 3 really showed me how this anime is gonna play, and good heavens, it's so mind-fething twisted.
KIll ka Kill is without any doubt my favorite anime of this fall season and has the best action scenes I have seen in a long time! This episode 3 was so over-the-top fantastic! Damn! This is pumping me up to watch Gurren Lagann all over again!
God-Emperor damn it, I NEED MORE, just saw the fighting scene again, I can't even explain how awesome this is
Well, I decided to look up the most recent season of Pokemon for gaks and grins. I watched the first three or four episodes and was pleased with it. I'll probably watch the whole season....I don't plan on trying to catch up since I'm....jeez, 9 or 10 seasons behind on when I stopped watching originally.
Fairy Tail you mean? If so, I think it's pretty good too. I personally don't watch the anime, but I'm up to date with the manga. Pretty good characters all around, with the obligatory clueless male lead. Ah well

Let's ratify it and pack up. Besides being an obvious harem anime, it has some pretty damn good action in it for the genre...................and mechas (just as bad of an addiction for me as boobs). The story can get pretty deep (future tense [I have read the LN])
IS2's EP is growing on me, still no Super Stream, but it's good.
Recap of stuff that stood out to me this week.
I Couldn't Become a Hero So Reluctantly I Decided to Get a Job - This Harem Romcom continues to shape up nicely, Raul and Fino have some hilarious interactions. The fan service leans heavier then I had even expected (and I expected A LOT) with this latest episode even earning a mature content warning from Crunchy Roll because it was just shy of some actual pornography.
Strike the Blood - They really turned it up to 11 this episode, and seem to have a serious case of cliff hanger disorder.
Kill La Kill - It just keeps getting more and more OTT, excellent <3

Yeah I'm enjoying Strike the Blood. So far this anime season my favorites thus far have been Silver Fox, Strike the Blood, and Arpeggio of Blue Steel. I know the second season of Vavlrave has started but I never finished the first one so I'm kind of side lining it for now.

It is, but it is also pretty good.
12 episodes later I have to disagree with this statement. That cat is so evil it is an inspiration to evil everywhere.

I was mostly talking about Madoka Magica, sorry for not being clear on it.. Otherwise I would kind of disagree with it. Not necessarily evil, more as Kyubey is a pragmatic being.

have you seen pokemon origins? its a 4 part series about the original story line about RED in the pokemon verse
Usual places. Pinoyanime has it. I didn't care for it in the end though. They condense the entire game into four episodes. It skips every gym fight but the first and last, skips the four elites, ect. It does little more than go thru the plot and list the events that happened.

I liked it, but I will agree with you here. The series really should have been longer to cover all the gyms, elite 4, major storyline events. If they had done this, it would have been a giant breath of fresh air for the franchise.
Rock's a chess master. Even Balalaika recognized him for his skill at the end of S2, and if you're getting props from a master of the Russian mob and former VDV Colonel, you can rest assured you earned them.
It's what I love about Rock and Revy, both as a ship and just as a set of characters, the sheer amount of role reversal with Rock as the calm, collected brains of the operation, working off of intuition, feeling and thought while Revy is... well she's Revy, a natural disaster given human form and firearms. All emotion, all energy, all the time.
Alone Revy's just a block of C4, teamed up with Rock, they're a Claymore mine, a shaped, well timed and placed charge of C4 with a whole bunch of shrapnel embedded into it.

Or FLCL
Ooooh, nice one, FLCL is awesome. 6 episodes of pure undistilled ridiculous awesomeness.
Edit: Oh good heavens, how could have I forgotten this one:
In the year 300X, the entire world is under the tyrannical rule of the Maruhage Empire, and their ruler, Tsuru Tsurulina IV (Bald the 4th). His Hair Hunt troop captures innocent bystanders' hair, leaving the people bald and their villages in ruins. Standing against this evil regime is the heroic, but bizarre, rebel, Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo, who fights the Hair Hunt Troop with his powerful Hanage Shinken (Fist of the Nose Hair). His team consists of the normal teen girl Beauty, the smelly teen warrior Heppokomaru (Gasser) and the Hajike leader Don Patch (Poppa Rocks). Bo-bobo is on an exciting, gag-filled quest to deliver his own hairy brand of justice to evildoers everywhere.
Pretty cool concept. Fanservice was gratuitous at times, but the story and idea is nifty.
My one concern is that they seem to be moving very quickly. Like the whole thing will end up 12 episodes and need no 2nd season.
It is made by the same people who also did Gurren Lagann, FLCL, and Panty and Stocking with Gainax before starting their own studio, Trigger. Also, this might provide a good insight what Imashi had in mind. Kinda feminist oriented, but still pretty insightful. http://i.imgur.com/DpG1VIk.jpg
No no you guys miss what I'm saying, the insanity in Bobo, Jojo, FLCL, etc, so forth all make sense... sorta... within their respective worlds. They are ridiculous in the good sense. Walkure Romanze is ridiculous in the "this is stupid" sense.
KalashnikovMarine wrote: On a side note, Walkure Romanze is officially the most ridiculous thing I think I've ever watched in anime.
Watch Manyuu Hikenchou then. '
Bobobo now that brings back childhood memories. The fights were so ridiculous you almost couldn't call them fights. The synopsis is missing Jellyman though. He is damn funny alongside Don Patch.

Interesting. I hadn't really analyzed the show for deeper meanings (I tend to avoid doing that ever since I tried to figure out Evangelion a few years back.....) and just sort of watch to enjoy. Taking what that link posits into account, it does make sense somewhat, and will make viewing the remaining episodes more interesting.
I also need to go back and finish watching Gurren Lagann, and rewatch FLCL.
Also, I need to find that FLCL theme in my music library again. I have it from waaaaayyyyy back in the day, and that thing was how I got out of bed in the morning.

Eh, seriously? I kinda like it. The innuendo jokes in the previous episode (episode 2) were so bad they made me *facepalm* with extra power but overall I enjoy it. Mio seems a nice enough character (if a bit cliché).
As I reach the middle of Mirai Nikki I seriously have no idea what's gonna happen anymore. It just threw me a curve-ball of awesome and I really recommend this one if you don't mind some serious psychotic characters.
Sad part is I'm kinda jealous. I'd love a girlfriend with 5" main gun and a VLS system. Especially Takao's extremely... augmented VLS system. Hello missile spam!
Edit:
Thought, now I want to write an anime about a blender at a bar that gains sentience and a human like avatar then falls in love with the bartender because he can use her better then she can use herself.
Watched ep.3 of Ars Nova. That battleship was definitely getting hot over the thought of the protagonist captaining her. Iona had a couple cute moments in the ep. Next week though is going to be some epic ship combat I hope.
KalashnikovMarine can I sig your quote "I just watched a battleship falling in love with a man.... yep. That's enough anime for the day."
Finished Mirai Nikki. I was really loving this but after a certain point I feel it just went downhill, full speed, until a massive crash and explosion, but I'm certain I'm in the minority here.
Big Spoiler:
Spoiler:
At least 9th got an happy ending. When your favorite character is a crazy terrorist and you want to see her "win", you know you are watching something fethed up. Yet, 9th is awesome.

Wonder how long until the guy in Machine Doll is given the other girls. He mentioned before his trained is in group tactics, the doll maker said Yaya was part of a trio, and then we've seen all three dolls in the closing credits.
Also, I was surprised by the nudity in this last episode. It's usually more subtle or creativly censured, and this one was just "hey, boobs!"

Go for it duderino!
Already done. Your words are immortalized in my sig.
I have no idea what's going on with that picture, I just know I love it. So many maids <3
Coppelion keeps disappointing me. This week's episode had some extra action but all 3 main characters keep annoying me to no end. Maybe it's because I'm currently a cynical and bitter bastard, but the way how they are overwhelming gentle, nice and the way how they cling to that freakin' city as if it was really important irritates me. And how they cry about anything. And one of them is completely useless besides being annoying and crying...
Well, I'm watching more of the "top 10 mysterious / strange" animes list I found. This time it's Shiki. And HOLY gak, now this is a serious vampire story! Vampires that follow the "rules", like not being able to enter someone's house unless they are invited in. They are mysterious, cunning and it's being a treat how the villagers slowly come to understand what's really going on. Watched until episode 8 so far.
Spoiler:
I felt genuine frustrated and worried by the end of episode 8. A character talking to a vampire (he doesn't know anything about it), the way how she was getting madder by the minute "Oh, come on, why don't you just let me in!" and me standing on edge thinking "No, no, no, no, don't do anything stupid, don't do it."
Yeah, Coppelion is really weird on several angles and I'm about ready to give it up. The freaky line weights in the animation style continue to distract me. Sorry wise They've made nonsensical decisions since episode one as well;
•The girls walked all the way into the city, and once there, the helicopter flew in the meet them. Why not just drop them off to start with?
•They have aether, an anti radiation medicine that staves off the effects for exactly ten minutes. They give everyone they meet one dose, but even comment that it's not really going to do much at that moment, then lament the fact they're out when a guy gets exposed and genuinely needs it.
•Stealth bomber is flying low over the city, everyone is calling it this monster crow. They seem to be doing an alt history set in the past thing, so I figured they just didn't know what it was, until one of the girls reveals she has super vision when she takes off her glasses. She looks at it for a minute, and then declares it a stealth bomber.
•Smuggle toxic waste with a stealth bomber and illegally dump it. Kill all witnesses. Put your company logo on the barrels of waste.
•Toxic waste is all dumped in one spot, causes pockets of radiation to randomly spring up around city.
•"I can't believe I allowed this guy to die! Waaaaaaahhhhh!" What? You mean the guy you chased after and shot down with an anti aircraft missile? What did you Think was going to happen?

Oh man, like always Kill la Kill fething delivers like the godsend it is! Absolutely hilarious episode I can't even describe nor do I want because of spoiling jokes, but man, finally Senketsu has more action time
Kill la Kill remains my biggest highlight of the week, this anime is too awesome
Edit: Completely unrelated video, but a friend of mine sent me this video about an anime he said to watch, and well, this was good enough for me. So much Nya, so freakin' cute!
Draconic you weren't lying! Kill La Kill definitely delivered this ep! It isn't quite my favorite of this season, it's style of slapstick has never been tops for me over my preferred genres... but it's damn good.
Meanwhile speaking of DELIVERING.
Golden Time delivered in SPADES today. Some very nice character interplay, some plot progression/personal development for our male and female leads AND a big juicy reveal about amnesiac male lead's... relatively untroubled, normal past.
So far my top anime this season:
1. Strike the Blood
2. Golden Time
3. Arpeggio of Blue Steel/Kill La Kill
4. Gingitsune (Silve Fox)
5. Log Horizon/Non Non Byori
Infinite Stratos 2 is not on this list... cause it's a sequel to a personal favorite, so it'd skew the results on fairly. All told... I thought last season was good, and while some of my friends are unimpressed I am /very/ pleased with this season so far.
No Beyond the Horizon on that list? I'm liking that one better than Strike the Blood to me. I find Strike the Blood as number one to be odd in general. It ain't bad by any means, but not what I would rate top at all.

Hum, I'll have to try Golden Time then. I have been avoiding it because I already have plenty to watch, but meh, bring it on
I'm liking Non Non Byori more than Silver Fox. I like both, but I find myself with a stupid smile all throughout the entire NNByori episode. They are so adorable and cute, it's impossible not to feel relaxed and relatively happy after watching such an easy-going episode.
Strike the blood looks so "meh" to me, but hey, to each his own!
Edit: Ya know, I'm not sure but this week's Kill la Kill episode seems to be a huge "You see, kids? You don't need a huge budget and insanely good looking and expensive techniques to make a good anime." (Coppelion, I'm looking mostly at you ... ) . The animation seems so shoddy at times, and yet, it just owned!

It's a rating by how much I'm enjoying it, not necessarily over all quality. Also haven't watched Beyond the Horizon, gimme a snap shot of it?
Official Title - Beyond the Horizon
Alternative Titles - Kyoukai no Kanata, Kyokai no Kanata
Description - The dark fantasy follows a high school sophomore named Akihito Kanbara. Although the boy appears human, he is half youmu and invulnerable to wounds because he can heal quickly. One day, Akihito meets freshman Mirai Kuriyama when it seems she is about to jump from the school rooftop. Mirai is isolated because of her ability to manipulate blood, which is unique even among members of the spirit world. Disturbing events begin to unfold after Akihito saves Mirai.
A lot of love for Attack on Titan. Not my favorite show by far but it's very good. I feel there are too many slow episodes and moments (and after reading the manga, a lot of small fillers. I guess they were forced to so the story would end at the right episode and time). Ends with one hell of a cliffhanger.
School Days - ... Unless you want to feel depressed, I don't recommend it.

Kill la Kill is definitely a great show, This weeks episode was wacky and had me laughing soo many times. It is giving me all those old Gurren Lagann feels that I used to have in new ways. This show is taking average, everyday school life and making it wayyyy OTT.
Spoiler:
This weeks episode was basically getting to school on time in an extreme OTT way. The nosebleeds, and at the end when she slammed into the school with the cart as her name was called and sits at her desk looking like hell and simply going "present" made me laugh hard.
For the most part, Attack on Titan is relatively popular and well received here. I stopped at a point, and look to give it a go again, since I was bored to death how the ending of each episode was. Almost like you have to marathon it.
School Days: 'Good Series' and "School Days' do not belong in the same sentence in any way, shape, or form. And that is all that is to be said about it.
Strike the Blood had a good ep. Very good... also they are going for the /very/ traditional view of Vampirism and all that blood drinking just being a cover for innuendo.
Thought: How BAD would it suck to be one of the most powerful beings on the planet and still have to go to High School?
Meanwhile in the JSDF....
What I want to know is if she's the crew chief or one of the pilots.
What I want to know is if she's the crew chief or one of the pilots.
I don't know, but this was a wierd tradition of the JSDF's 4th Anti Tank Helo squad at Kisarazu did for a few years. This one was taken last year as part of an event and one of staff did dress up. Unfortunately they were busted by JSDF brass for this after they saw dozens of videos of this event online. The 4th had done up 4 helos like this for the 20th anniversary of their formation.
Ever tried Mahou Shoujotai? I strongly recommend the art and the animation, although I leave the story for you to judge for yourselves (I liked it personally).
The show so awesome they had to OTT awesome just to make an accurate description . Funny, OTT action, and respectful fan-service. Such a great show, really.

Glad to know the DakkaDakka people also love it it's just one awesome show, one I fell in love after the first few minutes. I blame the "Big bad boss". She's all kinds of awesome.
Well, finished Shiki today after I marathoned the last 12 eps.
Overall, it was awesome. It attempts to show the view point from both humans and vampires. It takes a long time until sh*t gets serious, and I honestly feel a lot of things were rushed near the end, but I found it pretty good. Also, I found the end to be very, very, lame. After so much it really felt like an horrible end. Maybe the anime didn't hit me as hard as other people because I didn't feel any empathy for the vampires (except for one or two very rare cases. )
Spoiler:
Oh no, when the murder started I rejoiced. I loved it so much once the gig was up and their hearts started being staked. They were all high and mighty when they had the upper hand, hunting humans down and laughing and smiling. They didn't laugh that much once the joke was on them. One I loved the most was a certain father and his vampire son. He didn't even use a hammer to stake him. He just grabbed that stake and rammed it in. Damn, that character was so fething bad ass. I absolutely loved how much the villagers were jaded near the end: the women that were taking care of the vampire corpses were so used to them, they just gathered around for a tea brake in the middle of the piles of corpses. Hands are bloody? Just wipe it on your apron and eat that rice ball. No feths given.
I though different story was the same as the movies. I've read the two other spin off manga but I haven't seen anything to do with the movies since I want to marathon them all.

That is one of my personal favorite series. Unique how it tells its story, and I love the backstory to it.
Also, make sure you watch the second season, it helps describe what is going on as a whole.

I'm sold. Any anime that puts its characters in a situation where that picture could occur has got to be a good time.
Although, it has rather philosophical and spiritual themes to it, so it requires a certain maturity and depth to enjoy.
I also am a fan of this. I watched it in one night since I just couldn't put it down half way. One of the few anime that have brought me to tears and also it seems that it's quite hard to re-watch it.
KalashnikovMarine wrote: Oh you gotta give me a summery of that! She looks like she's having fun though! ^_^
So, this is the summary:
After moving into the quiet town of Hinamizawa, Maebara Keiichi spends his days blissfully in school often playing games with his local friends. However, appearances can be deceiving. One fateful day, Keiichi stumbles upon news of a murder that had occurred in Hinamizawa. From this point on, horrific events unfold in front of Keiichi, as he soon learns his close friends may not be all that they seem. Based on the amateur mystery game by 7th Expansion, the story is told in a series of different scenarios.
Because this is based off a game, I think that's why the anime is done this way: Each story arc is a playthrough of the "game". Good or bad, the decisions lead to a certain point and after that end, it starts all over again with a different "option" and each time the "game" resets we get a different playthrough and access to more info so we can piece together what's really going on.
Something that this anime is being amazing so far is the same reason I love the Black Knight's Joker: I can't predict what the hell the psychos are gonna do. I think the Joker was fantastic because I just didn't know what he was about to do, he would either shove a pencil into someone's brain, make a joke, murder something, whatever, he was amazing.
Here, it's the same thing. I already know who the psychos are but I'm always wondering if they are going to enter "flying rodent gak crazy" mode or not. EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
Doesn't help I usually watch this alone in the dark with headphones
Oh and finally: Non Non Biyori is fantastic but please, be careful if you decide to watch it or YOU may be the next one to die
Spoiler:
From Cuteness Overload that is I wanted to hug Ren-chan so badly after that certain scene
Subtitles changed slightly in Arpeggio I noticed. They had been calling them Corrosion Torpedoes, but in this last episode they changed the name to Erosion Torpedoes. I'm guessing because there was a scene where their name was shown in print on a computer screen.
It looks like Arpeggio is going to break from the manga cause some major side characters for the most recent battle were completely cut from it. Guess I officially have no idea what to expect
AduroT wrote: Out of curiosity, did the one girl's clothes get blown off in the manga too?
Yeah. It seems that at first Haruna didn't wear anything under her coat, well you know except for langerie. She does later on though (you can see the dress in the opening sequence when she holds one side of her coat open).
I can't like Arpeggio of the Blue Steel more. If it becomes a harem on top of an intense naval combat sci fi epic with comedic elements I am going to die happy.
The weird part of Arpeggio is that the male lead is... dull. No really. The human characters in this series (save one) are duller than dirt. There is no harem romance I'm afraid :( The majority of the plot certainly focuses on the Blue Steel members but Takao, Haruna, Musashi, 400 and 402 and the rest of the Fleet of Fog characters (included the recently introduced Bismark and Hood) are all infinitely more interesting to watch and are frankly, doing cooler things than palling around with Gonzou... Well not Takao. She's got that whole tsundere thing going on.
Now the manga is slow going but I won't be shocked to see Blue Steel eventually expand to include Takao, Haruna, Maya, 400-402, and Kirishima... assuming that last one ever solves the whole being blow to bits thing. At least for the moment though it definitely not a harem. Most of the Fleet of Fog characters only know Gonzou by name 2 years into the series (though Yamato does seem to have an interest beyond the usual) and have their own subplots. EDIT: Oh and the last chapter? Introduced a freaking carrier!
Thanks guys, for making me check yet another anime. I didn't have enough already /sarcasm
Well, Tokyo Ravens was one I didn't give much after the first 2 episodes, but now I say I'm pleasantly surprised where this is headed. I blame it on Kon. I can't believe how much one character can make me love a show so much more
Yep, it's the new character. Tokyo Raven's "preview of the next episode" has always been a countdown about "how much time until her appearance", and damn, was it worth it!

I too am super psyched for that episode. I didn't even realize TFS had been doing that until a couple months ago, despite following DBZ:A for years. Those 3 episodes were some of the best comedic material I've seen from any abridged series ever.
I tend to watch most stuff through anime-sub. Only time I don't is if a new episode just came out and there's some delay for some reason.
I can't like Arpeggio of the Blue Steel more. If it becomes a harem on top of an intense naval combat sci fi epic with comedic elements I am going to die happy.
I am really liking this anime as well. The ship combat can get pretty intense and the female battleships are unique and interesting.
I really, really, really want to like Coppelion, but the damn anime is making it so hard. This last episode had so much bullsh*t, it has to be a new record, not to mention how one main character still remains useless.
Well, Higurashi is a true winner for me. For the first time in my life I saw something so bad in an anime that made me enter in a true "NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE" mode.
Spoiler:
Seriously, the words "Rip" and "Nails" in the same sentence is horrible enough, but to actually see one of them doing this to herself... feth me, that was true nightmare-fuel material. I would rather have seen chopped fingers than fingernail ripping.
Which is ironic, considering that almost the entire Zabi Dynasty was wiped out by Char's machinations. The only reason Mineva was spared was probably because Char considered her a mirror of himself.
AduroT wrote: Indeed. She's the only one not constantly trying to kill him. Definitely a plus when it comes to girlfriend material.
Cute, kind, not a murderous psychopath.... I mean if that's not chemistry what is? They also do the battle couple thing better then the rest of the main cast.
I think Houki has the best chance of winning in the end, what with the "First Girl wins" trope generally being in full effect in anime.
I kind of hope they avert it for the sake of averting it.
I'm kind of rooting for them to throw a curveball like SHUFFLE! and not go with Houki.
I'm not really in anyone's camp, I guess, but Tatenashi fits pretty well. She probably doesn't have strong feelings at this point in the anime, but I imagine if she developed them, she'd be the only one to directly make something come of it. While the rest run around passively AGGRESSIVELY competing for him, she'll likely just throw him against a wall and take what she wants.
I was kind of in Laura's camp because of that in season 1, but she's really sort of lost some of the edge in her personality.
I'm cool with a Shuffle Change up... provided they skip the yandere. However Houki's made the most progress so far, so she will probably win eventually. Seito Kaicho certainly seems to be leading aggressively, and Ran might make things interesting when she finally shows up at school.
What's funny is that Cecilia, if she hadn't gone all 'delicate violette' when she fell for him, would have seriously given Charl a run for her money. But you know what they say about a Perfect World.
And honestly, Charl is the character that is kinda the best friend of Ichika. They can hang out and talk about stuff more, whereas the other girls would almost inevitably try to hatch some sort of 'get him to promise to go out with me' scheme. Not that Charl doesn't do that, but hers are fewer, with normal hanging out in between.
I don't disagree that Charl is a good option, but she's too nice. The way anime works, you need some Yandere to win against a cast full of Yanderes, and I'm not sure Charl is pushy enough to get to the forefront.
- Cecilia, I feel, fell off somewhere around the middle of season 1.
- Laura got the edge taken off of her, from a strong independent woman to sort of a softer personality, which is gonna hurt her. She still calls Ichika her "bride" but it's more of a joke than her truly laying claim to him anymore.
- Lingyin, I feel like, is sort of in little sister territory.
- Charl, as I mentioned, is probably too nice. If she was more assertive she'd probably win, but she's too nice, both to Ichika and her competitors.
Houki gets to stick around because of first girl wins principle.
But hey, anime writers have thrown curveballs before, so maybe one of the ones who seem to have fallen back into the peloton of the harem will pull back ahead.
AduroT wrote: Last episode, we find out he's gay. That's why he was so interested in helping out Charles.
I mean, that's always one of the prevailing theories about harem animes, that the protagonist is so indifferent to all these hot chicks hitting on him because he's not heterosexual. Right until the end, of course.
School Days is a "fun" deconstruction of the concept, and for that reason I feel it's great.
I sometimes like to think that harem anime protagonists actually are 4th wall breaking beings, namely they understand they're in an anime an act accordingly, following all the rules of anime that are set out before them, and their waffling is them making sure they follow all said rules. After all, if they pick one girl, then the rest might bail, and then when they fight the final big bad they won't be able to unite with the power of friendship to win because half his harem walked out mid way through the season.

My God-Emperor, I never, ever, thought about one day seeing a sewing machine gun. SEWING MACHINE GUN. I love Kill la Kill so damn much
This. So much this.
In IS2 news. This episode took a heel turn deep into fan service territory. Charl's french poodle get up may have actually made me hate that breed of dog just a little less. Not done yet. I am... disturbed as to what Laura's "service" is going to be. I am hoping it involves spit shining Ichka's boots.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh sweet goddess Freyja's favorite sword I did NOT expect that! Well I mean I expected seito kaicho getting in on the act, but Chifuya!? Dafuq?
Watching the new IS now. Doing some live commentating, sort of.
I've never thought of billiards in a sexual way, but when she said "knock the balls into the pockets," I was like, "that's mighty forward of her."
And then that cookie. Yup, anime rules in full effect there. It's like Murphy's law, except for harem animes.
And I find it funny that school teachers planning and setting up a show for Ichika would then disqualify someone for being lewd. It's like, that's exactly what they wanted.
Ichika, secret dart throwing master.
Yup, there's Tatenashi. Blue hair, big...tracts of land. She's a full time competitor now, and I imagine she's got the best chance to win based on how forceful she is.
Did George R.R. Martin pen this episode and turn the Orimuras into the Targerhoweveryouspellthatnameigans/Lannisters?
OOOOHHHHH, it all makes sense now.
And yeah, George R.R. Martin totally penned this episode.
And FINALLY, a villain who is genre saavy enough to dispense with the monologues and just shoot somebody!
Fun episode. Needs moar mech action, but I'm sure we'll get that later.
Alright so I finally caught up with Kill La Kill and Infinite Stratos for each episode 5:
Infinite Stratos: Wow, I did not know that Fan service can go over the top like that, with a tie up of Cecilia or Tatenashi being the most forward during the birthday party for Ichika, with a nice little plot twist/cliffhanger for the next episode. Thought it was kind of filler, but not too bad, I liked it.
Kill La Kill: New character this week, with the character development and plot moving along at a good pace, and the new character seems to have potential.
Well, know to catch up with Ergo Proxy, Arise, and Kannazuki no Miko.

Thought it was kind of filler, but not too bad, I liked it.
Kill La Kill: New character this week, with the character development and plot moving along at a good pace, and the new character seems to have potential.
Well, know to catch up with Ergo Proxy, Arise, and Kannazuki no Miko.
Believe it or not, that ep. of IS wasn't really all filler/fan service.
Spoiler:
Ichika does meet Madoka after his birthday in the LN also.

.....and Kill la Kill was awesome as expected.
Well that is what I meant by "Kind of" in that statement, since it did bring some major plot development.
And I was expecting Kill La Kill to be, since it was made by the man who did Gurren Lagann and PSG.
An episode of 99% fluff with thirty seconds of actual plot tacked onto the very end is still filler, especially when they'll probably replay those thirty seconds at the beginning of the next episode because they were too important to have missed.
Also, the Bleach filler arcs aren't That bad, if only because they are actual story arcs rather than a long series of random one off episodes like Naruto is fond of doing.
The Bount episodes sure are. Even the second worst of the filler series is leagues ahead of that garbage. That's the first filler arc btw. I do agree that some a good though, despite what the rest of the internet might think. I particularly enjoyed the arc with the zanpakuto spirits.

Did a bit of brief research so don't take my word for it but here.
This WILL have spoilers for Bleach (I hope that's the one your talking about). Just a warning.
Regarding Amagai:
Spoiler:
Amagai took over as squad three's captain after the previous captain was revealed to be a traitor.
Now for the Reigei arc:
Spoiler:
From what I heard, yes. It is the last (or current) arc.
Bleach also has a lot of really random as gak filler episodes during the battle against the big bad. The anime was riding the manga's butt at the time so a lot of stupid episodes got made.

Hey! I enjoyed the Arabian nights episode! It was out their and generally entertaining! I can only think of 3 other episodes like it and most happened between arcs.
Well hopefully the manga will be finished by the time the Bleach anime comes back, so we can watch the Thousand Year Blood War Arc without interruptions.
So I finally got my tickets for Madoka Magica Rebellion for me and my friend, so I'll just play Grief Syndrome for the next month and get a Male Mami cosplay ready if I can.

Had to look up MM Rebellion after you mentioned it, and now I want to go see it.
Of friend of mine suggested watching the movie Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki and I have to say I highly recommend the film. Great movie with a great premise and a sweet ending.

It's a tad dated, but the theme song is nice. Also very funny. I was not expecting a "that time of the month" conversation
I don't know why but whenever I hear Slayers mentioned, I keep thinking it's like that Berserk anime. Is it any good? (Slayers I mean)
It's ok. It is very, very dated though. It was made in 1997, but I keep thinking it's older. The dub isn't that great, but the English version of Lina Inverse is pretty fun.

I was very, very surprised 8 years ago when I started university and I discovered Slayers was on TV (6:30 in the morning. Possibly earlier since I had classes around 8am, I think) and it was Portuguese dubbed. What was more surprising is how well made the dub was, how good the show was (the D&D vibe was so incredible) how I didn't know about that show and how much I didn't mind waking up early from that moment on.
(And I absolutely love Lina Inverse's solution to any problem: FIREBALL IT!)
So, because I decided to start going to the Gym once again (The place I consider hell on earth and I'm forced to go since, ya know, I kinda want to walk, not roll) got myself a cool PocketPad and got me dem Infinite Stratos S1 you gents all seem to love to watch and fight the damn boredom. I still haven't met the girl I think it's the Ayanami Rei of the show (eyepatch one) but I absolutely loved Lingyin Huang:
- Petit - Cute Fang - Her mech has a freakin' double bladed sword! Now that's seriously awesome!
Could have been worse. They could have pulled out the old "throw in that villain that was never introduced but is eeeeeeevil and is the most dangerous" thing.
Watched the four available episodes of Arpeggio of Blue Steel.
Pretty interesting concept and show thus far. I don't have many comments, other than I'm going to keep up with it, and therefore it's reasonably good in my book.

Another IS convert; welcome to the wonderful world of mecha armour and fan service. I like Houki and Tatenashi.

This is scary how many people are getting into IS now. Not that I mind but still. (Also Charlotte and Houki will always be best girls for me).
And hey, that is what I do when I box, lift, or Jump Rope at my house is to catch up on my anime backlog (also which I do with painting my minis as well).
I feel weird for leaving IS2 out of my watch list this season. The first season only got an average but watchable from me, so I didn't expect much from the second.

Charl and Houki for the win!
Lina Inverse is also lots of fun in ANY language. She has a bit of an Excel vibe to me at times for some reason...
My stats with commentary:
Classics: 13 (Seriously. Slayers, 8th MS Team, Golden Boy, Outlaw Star, Trigun, Kenshin, Princess Mononoke, ANYTHING Macross, if you haven't watched those... whelp there's your new list of stuff to watch!
Award Winners: 8 (I didn't know The Girl Who Jumped Through Time had won awards. It's freaking GREAT though)
Popular: 12
Stylish: 4 (I wish it was three, Gankutsuou was one of the worst things I've ever watched)
Started Watching Ergo Proxy a while ago but have not picked back up on it yet since I had other things to catch up on. 4 Episodes in, but I like it so far.
Also, am I the only one who likes Evangelion and a Fan of it, while not being like the "true fans" that bash any other series that is experimental or different and not a Pseudo-Intellectual a-hole? :/

I thought the first season was mediocre. So far the second season (baring the latest episode which was just filler fluff) is better as they've not had to introduce the harem and are thus doing more story plot. The new mecha designs are also much more original compared to the hero's rather generic ones.
And I've literally just watched until the opening song. I haven't laughed that hard in at least like...a week...maybe two...which might not seem like very long but I just got through a bunch of Halloween parties with a bunch of drunk future lawyers, and that is absolutely hilarious, so this is saying something. And I'm not even 2 minutes in.
Berserk needs to be removed from that list.. the Anime was soooo terrible, heck the Abridged version below is better (the recent movies are good to)
I find it weird that Akira, X1999, and visions of escaflowne aren't on that list.
Now if you want to watch an anime about soldiers killing giant bugs that have mouths that take the form of female genitalia..... you could always watch Blue Gender
I can't believe I ever forgot about Great Teacher Onizuka. I'm not sure how realistic it is actually, but the guy is absolutely brilliant as a character.

No, I enjoyed watching Evangelion. Although, I am rather open (as previously demonstrated) to criticizing and deconstructing Shinji's character.
Working out while watching anime does sound more enjoyable. What funny is I listen to various anime soundtracks while I paint my minis, and they end up coming out a lot better, and quicker, then w/o the music.

Indeed, it is fun to do that (and many of the other characters of the series, but Shinji's is the most fun to do ).
And yeah, it actually helps me keep me going (although I cannot do that much on runs, but that is no big deal), plus, as I said, this and painting while I watch it helps clear up my backlog a bit.
Stats: 7 Classic 7 Award winners 1/2 Hidden Gems (Ergo Proxy and I stopped watching 12 Kingdoms because of Higurashi. No regrets, I'm loving Higurashi that damn much)
Evangelion is my favorite anime and I too have an open mind when it comes to other "experimental" animes. Eck, I didn't even know that's what "true fans" do.
I can't watch anime while painting... if I understood what they were saying, maybe, but for now the only thing hobby related I risk doing while watching anime is removing stuff from sprues, cleaning them up and assembly.
On topic: Non Non Biyori, how I love thee! It's like a balm for your soul. 20 mns of pure relax and fun and it makes me looking forward for Mondays. That's a first for me.
Anvildude wrote: I'm not certain who exactly "Char" is. Anyone care to enlighten me?
Char Aznable is one of the main antagonists in the original Mobile Suit Gundam, as well as a recurring character throughout a lot of the UC Gundam series. He is also the most "copied" character in all of Gundam as evidenced.
