Like the tank, don't like the rivits though, why didn't you use some plastic rods? I bought those kurganova sisters too, although i hused the huge sword/gun option
Ah, you see, the tank is a homage to the old days and rivets were used aplenty back then. Hence also I am in the "League of Exrtraordinary Riveters where we try all manner of rivet concepts. PVA glue leaves a "round-head" rivet style, plastic rods another. I was going for a sensible feel with the swords and not using the ridiculously enormous blade, and the sword is looking as if she is sweeping it in an arc with the smaller one.
very good looking work shaso! good to see them squiggly lines so happy squiggling away! ...
but i bet there is much mud already waiting to get applied again on this one
t´racks are also very good looking... i see you´ve developed a good style now with those hatches on the rear side of the sponsons! i like that!

@Vik: Thanks Vik! You know it only works with the squiggly black lines! LOL! I still have plenty of what I need to make me some mud for this one!
Oh yeah, though smaller access ways, they are for the crew, not for soldiers assaulting out! Per 6th ed rules, the transport will have the "Assault platform" rule or whatever they call that special rule. It also helps having seen the sponsons in WW-I films that showed access hatches/doors on them, some under them. LOL!
dsteingass wrote:Glue rivets are Shas's "thing"..and he is quite good at them!
@Dave: Thanks Dave! I do use other "rivets" but the glue ones are the only ones that give the rounded look that were so iconic back in the early 20th century, and for a culture that fell backwards tech wise.
makes perfect sense to me... you wouldn´t want a super duper tank and sit inside and then someone comes knocking at the sides doors... would bother me no end as a crew man... so having the doors where no one can see then witout even trying... that is forward...er..."under"standing

LOL! yep, doors experimented with as the sponsons slide into the tank for transporting purposes

This will be less scary for Vik to see! I had all of these links for treads and a big cog left over from the Gatler monster, and decided to see what I could come up with, and decided suddenly for a small vehicle compared to all these big tanks. I cut tubes so I would have "wheels" to help glue the treads in to shape.

Thanks Vik, some muddy, battle scarred terrain will be a hella good project for me to work on one day.
I have new imagery, maybe that will clear or deepen the mystery of the halftrack? I will let the beholders decide based on the latest pics

Hmmm, Vik is good at spotting things! I will have some fresh pics up later on if you can all stand the suspense. the engine is set around that big front wheel.
Viktor von Domm wrote: so there will be two orks on that platform then? one gunner and one driver?
Next step is to make and attach a driver's section where the 2 wheels earlier shown will be attached, and a almost car like front it shall be! The Ork vehicle making committee decided against the following 2 vehicles, the Morris Morinda and the reliant Robin, one has pianos fall on it(Very silly, yet disruptive) and the other tends to fall over on sharp turns.(Orks like to drive like Jeremy Clarkson)
One of the few 'umies revered by Ork-kind, the Speed Freaks regularly call out the name of Jeremiah Clarksicus. Especially during a Gorkamorka, when a buggy takes a sharp turn and falls over.

somehow the earlier shown wheels have totally vanished from my thoughts... so it will be actually an halftrack!
A shame they only officially allow me ONE weapon per buggy! I would love Big Shootas on the hood, a big weapon on the back, but rivets, those will be all over the finished buggy!
Hruotland wrote: Isn't that correctly classified as half a halftrack?
Like that thing very much, that's SF and also I never could be warm with the idea that ork vehicles just look like very shoddy human ones.
Orks would call it a wartrakk, it will allow difficult terrain re-rolls and does have a point cost in the Ork Codex.
Shoddy? no, Ramshcakle? yep! But also Orks can make anything from the scraps of any other race, they just need time for the meks to work on them is all.
the drivers compartment looks suitably orky! and i think you´re heading the right way with this one!
what i suggest to add also...railings for the gunners part... seeing this enormous boss up there... it needs something to give at least a moderate support for the greenhides inside there...
No need for such drastic measures Vik! no legs for my driver, I will have to make gray stuff and use that as a sort of proxy set of hips/legs in the driver chair.
ach... if you was living next door to me i would give you some drivers right now... i have some... but i fear postage and time would exceed the sirup dripping speed limit a bit...:(
Viktor von Domm wrote: ach... if you was living next door to me i would give you some drivers right now... i have some... but i fear postage and time would exceed the sirup dripping speed limit a bit...:(
It has been a very long time since I was last in Germany though Vik, and that was back when it was in 2 halves
nice teef.... i would suggest giving the metal additions/details some ruined edges... also... i think your usual methode of riveting might be a bit too friendly looking for this vehicle...
Thanks. I am thinking drill holes, set the glue, and once dry, doing some hard chops to make the "rivets" look more bolt-like, the way such a vehicle should have it.
Well... that trakk is becoming even better and better! Yet I would suggest to choose a gunner with a more dynamic pose. The driver with his scarf and that wedge-shaped track section scream "dynamic power" in capital letters. In my humble and completely irrelevant opinion the gunner should be in a pose leaning forward against the windsurf to further accentuate this impression. The standard Ork "Me a gorrilla standing uproight" pose is not at all working on me with this vehicle. It grinds the trakk to a sudden halt.
@Hruotland: sadly, there is not much choice with GW ork legs as they seem to just make them wide stanced and bandy legged. have to work with what there is. now new pics may help alleviate it all once you see why he seems unconcerned with his stance.
All wired up, I have to make more gray stuff for the coating of the left hand grip, and the control grip for the firing wire system.
[/img]
[/img]
Basically he is braced in between the weapon and the idea he has that barrier behind him. As can be seen he does have a foot slightly more forwards than the other, helping lock himself in with his massive arm strength
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
As seen from above, braced in and ready for fun! Orky fun that is!
yeah Vik, I will build up the bars and also add a red wire for the one side. I have not found a body for the grot yet, so a head on a putty sleeping bag strapped in will suffice
Viktor von Domm wrote:lol... that is a funny idea!!! sleaping bag ROFL
It was something I did for a Dark Heresy backwater world I made where the population was sort of wild west+Modern tech. A Rok had landed and well, some of the Grots found life amongst humans as mechanics for trucks and jalopies as lucrative, they set up hammocks and sleeping spots hung all under the desert traveling machines, took the party by surprise to have grot riggers tagging along keeping those trucks running for them.
Hruotland wrote:that rail is and with it's beleveled front ends it fits perfectly into that vision of speed!
So I may have a working grot, if not, then a hammoc-sleeping bag with the grot head poking out and grinning at folks.
Also, Ima almost ready to unveil the color scheme and fluff for the Mantic Warpath Enforcers minis I got to act as "problem solvers" or for 40k I call them....Null Knights
Well, to answer, I know that in Germany Null is zero, but that also is the point of the Null Knights, they are the bane of Psykers and warp entities as they have a sort of terrifying psychic "black hole" in the warp and they are safe from most psyker powers as a result. They can be hurt by a hurled object, but that is the one power where their firepower comes to play, all other psykers are merely rounded up. I will have a full expose~ on them as they are like a odd Grey Knights sort of force. the S.C.H.M.E.R.T.Z. made them for use when they could not ask for Marines or count on the safety of the operation to the regular guardsmen of the Khadrovian Iron Guards, so here we go 3 pics showing trhe color scheme so far

Colors so far used, Primer was white, chaos black-GW, Blue Steel-Reaper, and boltgun metal-GW so far

Yeah, if you have not read it by now, Insp. General Romanov makes a short appearance, but whereas Vasily and his rascals were likeable rogues, the Null Knights are cold, and scary, likely why folks are not commenting as it is a tale to leave ye fold as ice

Got a 1/35scale T-34 for my Birthday, I have what I need to make it a Vanquisher conversion. hehehehe
It is longer than a leman Russ Tank, and roughly as wide as a Leman Russ, but oddly, lower in height even with the 40k hatch from an old Russ added on. It even came with a special added on armor plate so it literally has "Extra Armor" which one can pay to have on a tank to avoid it being stunned.
I have gray stuff worked in the larger vanquisher like barrel, and the hatch.I have Aquilla's and scroll bitz to add to it and make it a little more but it will likely be a heavy tank.
Viktor von Domm wrote: we´ll like them heavy... don´t we?... my own creations tend to be only heavies as well^^
oh by the way... have you got time and rescources to show me a comparrision pic and maybe width and length of a trackshoe of a leman russ to a rhino?
i recently got rather cheap two tracksystems of a SM rhino... i could with these either make two count as LR or make one big heavy transport thingy...
but i need to make the chassis and of yourse sponsons and mainpody and turrets... as well as the tracks too...
so some helpful data would be...helpful
Aye, the bigger the better eh?
Leman Russ and Rhino Track shoes while looking different are roughly the same size, hence why I liked the Zinge ones, that and he made them easy to put together.
So roughlt 10-11mm wide, and around the 5mm length.
would you think that a 1.5cm width for the trackshoes would be too wide for the standard rhino ? of course i could always make them just 10mm and be on the safe side...
So, the Captain of the Null Knights all washed for himself.

There is more to come! The turret has had parts added to it, the hull too! as are track links/armor for the lower bow for example!
the barrel looks suitable 40k for sure... and the hatch is quite good added to the turret... where i have my slight doubts is with the front look of the trackguards... also will you add some sideway trackguards?...
Well, the track guards front is what came out of the factory in 1940-1944, and they would have been a bother to cut off the upper hull. I think this will remain w/o side skirts etc. all part of that speedy look it has.
I did make adjustments, and posed it with some volunteers

Glad to have inspired, and friended you btw. My fanbase grows.
as for world of tanks... tv adds are on almost 24/7... they are producing a big noise around that game...
You can look it up, it is a world where girls go to giant aircraft carrier schools and they learn the womanly art of tank fighting. Shells are heavily regulated not to actually destroy the tanks, more so that a on board comp calculates the power of the hit, and if it is a good one, the tank pops up a white flag, so it is out of the match. The schools also seem to have themes for their tanks, but our main protagonists have a motley assortment of tanks for the series, so oour main groups are in Pz-IV, StuG-III, Pz-38, M-3 Lee, Type-89, and then a Char-I, and Chi-Nu, and Porsche Tiger.
They face an all British themed school using Churchill and Matildas, Italian themed school, Japanese themed school, they have a major match with the all American school all armed with M-4 Sherman tanks, and the main characters' old school that uses all late war German Panzers/Tigers/Panthers, but before she faces her mom's school, they almost lost to a all Russian themed school using T-34/76, T-34/85, KV-2 and IS-2.
Now in world of tanks, I am grinding away through all the trees, American/Brit/German/Russian/French and Chinese
that T-34 looks quite cool, not sure now on what my tanks will be in future, so far I have Chimera and Pz II based versions - the PZ II is a bit small!
Could see these being good for Macharius style tanks with a few mods...
Just started playing WoT myself as well, finding the British Medium I and II are really really pap and I have yet to actually do anything useful in a game (well I did manage a kill with the US T18 but then I got killed!)

Thanks Vik, it is a process of layers, thin layers from a large paint pot that while not huge, is bigger than a GW paint pot. It is a mixture of Dark Angels Greene and Shining Gold paint I worked out. These guys are far from finished.
the only downside i see atm is that the driver of that stalker is also green among green... any chance to make him stand a bit apart from the rest of the model? i know... probably too late and too difficult...but hey^^ sometimes you have to point out that stuff^^
well...if it was me doing that stalker then i had reversed the scheme on the driver for once... but i bet shaso want to stay in scheme with the other ´crons he has done so far...
Yeah, all part of the theme, and Necrons blending in with their other machinery, well, remember the way the movie Alien, and Aliens the creatures blended in with the background and were unnoticed until they wanted to show where they were? Also, I was hoping that he'd come with the similar impressive head gear that the other pilots of Necron craft have come with, Alas, they let me down with a standard, Triarch Praetorian head, no Miter head to fold up :(
I for my part like the idea as well as the execution of the drivers blending into their machines, emphasizing the robot theme of the army. I think on the picture the osl on the forehead orb looks overdone, though, the three light sources of the face look like one amorph area. But that might be due to the reproduction. Otherwise just a little "unlit" green edge along the "eyebrows" might do it.
Besides, seeing the green colour of that walker I thought "Combi harvester of doom"... somehow fitting for Necrons! Just make that pseudo egypt symbol a jumping stag! And gimme hat, of course. When this thing rolls out of the barn I will die with wet pants, but no need to do so with bare head.
, all part of the theme, and Necrons blending in with their other machinery
well if you put it that way... i think that is a viable reason...

Oh, I added unlit metallic color to the eyebrows as I too was not liking too lit up a face, and added a more subdued light effect for the cheeks.
As you can see, the Zinge hatch is on. That oddly drawn outline on the front of the hull is a weapons mount, I will be putting another Old Crow weapon there on a turning tube so it can swivel

I just happen to be as gifted in modifying and making off the top of my head, using what I can to make stuff as a Orky Big Mek! BTW a tip: round and symmetrical Bic sticks, cut right work for battle cannon and Vanquisher barrels for tanks too, it is just the difference between the amount of centimeters of length in each. 6cm is Vanquisher, .4cm is battle cannons. (Although my Leman named "Bob" got a boost from Enzyte and has a V-cannon that is a amazing 10.17cm long!
That tanks looks very, very nice.
I'm not so sure about the guns (they look a bit lower quality than the rest of the tank).
I really look forward to updates and how this baby progresses.

The metal cannon barrels are from some of the kits from Old Crow Miniatures, and the mega bolters are actually for Japanese Mecha models as accessories for such large robots. Painting will help fix it all, and hey, many contractors making components make for odd appearances.

Forgeworld at least made the "Trojan" munitions carriers for folks who want a support for arty vehicle, it has the crane to move shells, and a large top hatch for pulling said shells out for loading. But yeah, Basilisk ought to at least have had a ammo rack set up on one of the sides of the cabin.
@DiDDe: Forgeworld has them in their Imperial Guard vehicles section.
Now, I got the FW Thudd Guns, but did not get the Centaurs, so as centaur stand ins, I made my own gun towing traktors, so the 1st one is done and muddied

Then, I decaled the other competing company model touch ups will be to be done on it.

And the progress on the 1st traktor makers 2nd model, or Mk-2 variant of their tow traktor

still some ways to go on that little guy but as with these traktors, they are ready for the job!
seeing these models shaso... don´t get it the wrong way... but your painting has gone some length ... boy... these are indeed in need of some touch ups... if not a serious repaint!... but the models as such are always a killer
The thud gun and carrier look grand. I also like the idea of a dozer blade on the front of the tank. To me all support tanks should have dozer blades to help with trenching while the big dogs go an fight.
Hence all the plans within plans Vik!, now, I am expecting ashipment of sharks with friggin' lasers on their heads at my secret island volcano base this week, Muwahahahaha!

I did buy a 1/35 scale kit for Renaults the Germans used as utility pullers for trailers of goods, but the kit had a spare Renault hull, so I had 2 of them, made IG stle tracks and the FT treads were put on my odd Bren/Panzer hull of the 3rd tractor. I use them all as stand ins for Centaurs. Thank, you and good eye!
Wow, h size comparison just shocked me. The tanks that I thought were the largest turned out o be smallest . Objects on web may be nearer than you think.
Great work n the mud. Now you just need. Tank commander pointing with a cation saying "mud puddle to the left, lets hit it!"
