How was working with those hulkbusters? Were the flexible enough? Or rather mono-pose? The design still doesn't speak to me, they will be for your own amusement or for your chapter? Hope you had a nice birthday mate!

Kind of the poses as seen, heavy weapons also need hoses, the suits are for my chapter so will be painted as Dragons Errant

Here we are, the Centurions in the basic color scheme of the Dragons Errant standing beside other models. gives an idea of scale of their massy bulk

.
Have you heard of a "Gunze Gundam Marker?" There is also a drafting marker.
The Gunze marker that is like a super fine point sharpie pen fits in the Gundam robot armor seams, and is great for putting words on models (Bertha, Dora)
.
Here is some info, and a great paint vs marker image;

They do like posing it with the basic mecha armature skeleton about the size of the 144 scale gundam mass production 79 series so it will be around similar scale to the gatling.

I maybe could, the wrist of mechas are usually 360 degree rotation so no pain for that, might look different swapping the end and the connection around, looking like he is ready to thumb activate the blade, (which is a wind up weapon) the handle on the back I can pull out, maybe attach some sort of cables and such to the very back, connect them to the mecha

And these were modeled originally with 1/144 scale or 1/100 scale mechs, on a 1/35th scaler, like the Leynos, they seem better the driller is frigging huge though, has the ability witht he right shoulder peg to BE an arm, but likely will need some work, may even replace the normal hand on the Valken I plan to give it to once I order the Valken

Thanks Cam, Likely they would look a tad better on the larger scale mechs, actually a might bit smallish. The BFG's the mechs have seem to balance the arm weapons out a bit.
Thanks, I was trying to make the things look right, hence the putty wok for the chainsaw., the blade and fist came with good girder pieces. the fist I added some plasti-card support near the wrist.
The orignal scale of the Leynos suits are 1/35th scale, I imagine those are grip-steps for the pilot to clamber up into the chest cockpit, it is just about right inside for a sentinel pilot, maybe some interiors

That is part of it, but GW could still make a tidy sum if they held the Pound-sterling price and charged that in the local currency of many of the European area, as well as the US/Canada/other nations. Kirby is out to get as much as he can apparently and GW once he is gone may need a new business model as well as a person who can undo the damage he has done in my opinion to GW and their reputation. I stopped paying their rising prices for .04 ounces of paint, and went with other paints that give more at less prices. My Not knights I will buy the rules for, but I did get 3 so far for well under the costs of the Knight deal for three which their bundles are now at their present costs, no longer do they make the discount like a free carnifex in a battle force, you are paying full costs for all units in the "bundles" they feel as you are getting them all at once, then why discount anything as in the past. I will grant that at certain order sized they ship free. but I have been one of the older gamers who have been less impressed with GW price shenanigans and gouging etc. My "not Warhound" was just under 100usd instead of the 450usd the warhound actually is.
GW needs to wake the hell up as many are going for 3rd party minis and one day as soon as a game with rules that are as compelling are made, they will wake up from their self imposed fantasy bubble they have crafted around their offices and find that GW no longer has the size empire it once had.
32676
Post by: Meph
Aye, I concur... their price increases border on the ridiculous, and their bundles-without-advantage are laughable.
My main turning point was the recent release of that Eisenkern's über-cool APC/half-track thing. As far as I'm aware, that's the first plastic vehicle kit that is sufficiently cool, decently priced, and perfectly suitable for 40K. I would have already bought one if they hadn't sold out already.
I think people are waking up to GW alternatives. And the alternatives are gathering momentum as well. lots of 'scifi knight' stuff out there

I thought initially that the different weapons were all on the same Mecha, thus why they were all the same sort of attachment- but I think you should probably look at doing a little more extensive conversion of the arms to incorporate the weapons if they're actually different models. The fist, especially, just looks silly mounted, essentially, on a second fist. Two fists for double fisting action?
And all three of them, with the equipment coming out the backs (that was initially meant as handholds) look unbalanced and 'tacked on' to the mecha- doing something to incorporate them into the arm and elbow, and maybe even into the upper arm, would help a lot with that.

And all three of them, with the equipment coming out the backs (that was initially meant as handholds) look unbalanced and 'tacked on' to the mecha- doing something to incorporate them into the arm and elbow, and maybe even into the upper arm, would help a lot with that.
The Fist and claw weapon modules posed a lot of problems with the spring loaded action, so what looks like a hand hold in the back is actually the part of the piston slide stop. I am going to be ordering a ton of hoses and cables from Zinge as I need the flex hoses and cables to finishe the attachments. As for the fist, the mechas' s main fist is simply there as part of the fact that the control actuator circuits are there, cables from the wrist to the hydraulic power fist will help to deal with that so as the left hand rotates, opens, closes, and the "punch" command is diverted from the actual hand to the giant fist weapon, as it will with the claw-blades, then I click the release for the forwards action representing the attack in the midst of the fight against an enemy knight, etc. The chains saw posed the least issue with some gray putty. the added weapons alread weighted the left arms making them go to the down position with the elbow joints. These are still WIPs. And as they are sold with pics of a smaller mecha gripping the things like power tools, i felt the modular look with the idea of "explosive bolt detachment" concept also worked better for me.

The two seen here are in service to Inspector General Romanov and his retinue. the suits offer some interesting abilities, and each has the tractor-manipulator gauntlet, but one, Code Name: Castor, is of the biting teeth discipline and so uses his choice weapon, the Gnashing Naginata. No bases, I had those laying around, with some small WGF bases that were as the stance suggests, not enough to do the minis justice, so I placed them on 40mm terminator bases. Which I can add some grit and "concrete" for a little more than plain stuff to them.

If those teeny-tiny fighters on the carrier are not removable, maybe you could add some smoke/flame (cotton wool) behind the launching ones to give them a sense of motion. That could be nice. Just a little bit, don't get carried away, think in scale. Don't feel you have to though.

Yes, I am waiting for complete set of the discs as they are presently slowly releasing individual disc with a few episodes, I will wait till all 26 DVD laid episodes are ready, I watched it at a anime site, but the Starblazers 2199 is the English version.
Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is the Japanese name, I have almost all the ships they showed in the series as 1/1000 scale kits. The ships are built in sections, unlike the past where you had the single parts of a hollow shell with features stuck on said hollow plastic shell.
These things are pretty solid.

Veterans are safe, I just need to see how to work things out for Vasily so he is not a mere run of the mill sgt,
He was a mighty figheter with the Honorifica Imperialis
for the 5th ed I paid the extra points to use that one sgt's rules, the one that had the commands as well so as to spur the men on!
I have me some reading to do.
Oh and pulled out some models for touch ups and painting, besides Inspector General Romanov's party, i also have a side force of investigators he has also helped start up, Section N, these will be interesting minis and, I hope decent enough backgrounds on each when ready.
Of course pic of Romanov and his peeps first as I have paint work on them all to finish, and then Section N

Yes, the other name is rediculouso (watching Harry potter movies with my kids).
I'm tempted to pick up the nids codex to play around with my genestealers, then again I just might wait for mantic to put out the next version of warpath(heard whispers), and play with those rules as they are balanced, streamlined and fun. Plus if the new edition invalidates all the codicies, I'd be even more PO.

From the sound of it, the new edition ius adding more psyker phase, as well as combining base rules with the two compendiums, for the flyers and the strongholds as I have the flyers, I just have to find a copy of the other, I am not a big fan of psykers/magic phase as it is sci-fi warfare
Of course seems they are heading retro play style as to try and capture a new audience along with older fans

Ah yes Valhalla, had they not fired on the Garmillas, the Imperial representative likely would have simply told the UN to get ready to be a member planet under the controlling influence of the Greater Garmilas Empire, or be put down like dogs. Also, the man giving orders was shown in flashbacks to be a paranoid xenophobe and wanted us to fire first on alien ships of which he had no information on. The Garmillas could also have easily not ripped apart the Earth fleet, but they also have that honor thing of "They fired on us, honor demands retribution" Also consider that the Garmillas are also pretty much committing Exterminatus on Earth by the start of the show, they seem to have also been influenced by revelations from Battlestar Galactica where the colonials sending a spy fighter triggered the Cylons into aggression. But also Schultz speaking ot Bane was asking the question in an earlier episode, "Why didn't they simply surrender and join the Empire like we did instead of putting themselves through this?" Parahrasing, regarding Earth. Having both Garmillas and Earth ships kits, I can see just how outclassed Earth was in regards to the Garmillas The missile destroyers are puny 80meter ships, the Garmillas destroyers are as big as Earth patrol cruisers and faster, more maneouverable, better armed. The Kirishima just made it the the size to the Destoria class heavy cruisers, and the Battleship Schultz is flying is a bit larger and armed more than the Yamato. Live action movie I view as an alternate timeline, and also yeah, they get odd near the end.
Anime covers so much, and fleshes the story as both sides have people dealing with situations their leaders could have avoided had they thought things out more.
Garmillas names seem to be Germanic, and their society is kind of Imperial Germany in space.
5946
Post by: Miguelsan
Many japanese action movies love to do that in the climax. The Gantz live action did the same... the big 1000 arm Kanon/end game monster took a breather while the secondary lead died so he could have parting words with his love interest. Such a nice alien monster. UGH! It was not like that in the original manga but apparently japanese audiences can't live without it or something like that.

Well, the cables also means controls, so hand controls for the actual mech hand return once the super fist is jettisioned due to extreme damage making it no longer functional, which is a LOT as the weapons are using the best armor possible for the job.

Yeah, he is the Rommel of the Gamilons. Shame about him. sad family back story too.
Ah yes, the pilot they get to deal with, lower storm leader Melda Dietz. She would have won had she been serious when her and Yamamoto were away from the Yamato, the Gamilon DWG-262 (Me-262, LOL) is more maneuverable, and Melda knows her 262 well.
Now guess where my other mini project is spoofed from? I call them "Section N"
Automatically Appended Next Post: Section N, a counter Intelligence, as well as criminal investigations unit employed by the Khadrovian Union under the auspices of Inspector General Romanov

The front row are all section N and their support. The man with the sword is simply a silent stalker code name "Green Shadow", the center 2 are the Major and her Captain
the short ones are specialist in technology
and the redhead with eh impressive rifle is their sniper expert I will snap single pics like I will do when I do the Inspector General's retinue, single pics and dossiers
I am also working out details for the Fallout minis

Okay, the Major, the Captain, the short ones, are all Haslefree minis, the sniper is also a void mini, a sniper from the Viridian army, Sister Synth and Green shadow are Infinity. Hey, my collection is not a total sausage fest!

I know that feeling. Did not pin mine and there is a lady that needs to be rebased for better support because the ubber thin metal contact point between foot and base tends to bend and then the wings pop off. :(

I had to pin "Ryoko's" foot to the base as the metal gave out just at her toe touching the support for her "flying" So yeah, they tried an interesting execution, just maybe bad materials? "Ryoko" = Ice blue hair holding bolter one armed with pistol out.

Dr H wrote:Nice camo' effect on the trousers.

Working a more Japanese/Pacific tan style, so I will be adding a paler color as that tone is his base skin, 2nd layer needs to be applied.same with the Major
The short ones and the sniper gal are more Nordic like. Humanity likely had some isolation like types, but with the mixing of ethnicity, so long as it was stable humanity, all sorts of skin tones could be triggered, depending upon where the people are raised. As can be seen the Major and the captain were not born/raised on chilly Khadrovia! They are from one of the warmer worlds in the Union

Digi camo on my tanks? not likely ever, maybe my Tau but they also like "organic camo" It i just similar to the fabric camo all my minis get.

Actually, not too much. I learned to be more careful on coumadin, cut can be nasty on that stuff, it prevents platelets factor, so I was worried about cuts. New "Mechakore" scale fighters are 144/200 scale, I would need a 144scale real world fighter model to tell.

Yamato 2199, like the original 1974 version did not show the aliens till later episodes, just the ships fighting what was left of the United Nations Cosmo Navy.
LOL! Yes, anime has some influence, but real women do actually use some wild dye colors on their hair.

Just the super smal 120mm carriers and Gamilon ship, they are retooling those now to fit the that 120mm size but from the 2199 versions now, and thy are releasing Gatlantis ships(Comet Empire) cruiser and destroyer of that old variety
The older large scale Yamato kits were never properly scaled. They admitted to such.

Okay, so some new ships arrived, they are the same type of kits from the 1980's I had all ships are roughly 120mm regardless of their relative size in the show of Starblazers/Yamato, but with 2199, new technology, Bandai went all detail crazy!
First are the Yukikaze, it comes in white and red plastic, yellow I had to work on. Destoria class is small so if used with the 1/1000scale, it is a small corvette/frigate, fighter was used to show the small scale ships.
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
Tank lander/assault ship. It comes with 1/1000 scale Tank and APC. It carries 6 vehicles.
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
Recon plane FWG-157, it does have a pair of cannons, but the pilots seems more evasion oriented in their flying than combat.
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
And the booklet shows the big beast of the set! the Haizerad Battleship. I worked on it last night, it shares a lot with the Gaiderol, the battleship on which general Schultz fights the Yamato and dies doing so, just a different death in Yamato2199 than in the original. The original they slammed his battleship into an asteroid and it seemed so simple. SPOILER! In 2199, his ship chases Yamato to the red giant sun that was supposed to destroy Yamato, and as they give chase, the flare the yamato splits starts to g normal and the Gaiderol is destroyed by the solar flares. Kind of like the way in ST:TNG, Worf's brother got rid of the warbirds on their tail in the Klingon civil war.
[/img]
Of course the Gamilon ships will be painted to match the rest of the fleet, with the few minor exceptions of course!

LOL! It was really well done and then put out for folks to enjoy in movie sized chunks in Japan. It is even more to them than Star Trek or Star Wars, a cultural phenomenon as the whole real Battleship Yamato holds a major spot in the Japanese Psyche.

Or they use really good anti-grav. the warp engine do give some interesting advantages, like shielding. Oh and of course their basic function of FTL mobility! But while they could defeat the old Earth fleet, they can't handle the weapons of Yamato!

I still want some models to work on, so I likely will break to the sedition wars for 40bucks while waiting for a new headset which has a better warranty and service plan than Logitech does as I discovered that the Logitech headset has an issue which hit me, they no longer grip right due to cheap-o plastic in the ear swivel areas, it is easy to google, they are using a plastic far to brittle and fragile for the are they use it in, so I no longer recommend them for headsets, instead I am going for sennheiser-USA headphone/mic for my gaming/listening needs. No cheap-o China plastic there. German engineering for longer lasting satisfaction. I unburied Creed and Kell, and a lesser command squad for working on as well.

Yep. They are blue, that they are.
Ties them together with the added choppy/spiky/fist-y bits. Good job.

well, just in time for the update as to where I have gotten with Creed, aka Zhuikov, he is shorter than the Kruegerian trooper, but he is stoutly built, Like a Sontaran!

the plastics command squad with Capt Beransky who lost his left arm which lead to his promotion at the battle of Caldus IV, where he had been placing a Krak grenade into the exhaust of an enemy tank, when his wrist cuff got caught by a bolt sticking out of the opened grill, his arm was forfeit when the grenade went off, throwing him from the tank, and that tank blocked a major causeway, allowing air strikers to catch the congested enemy column flat. Instead of being useless, they gave him a new arm, a bionic one, nothing fancy, but it does the job!

I am debating on what bright heraldry will go on the 3 big guys, and where, I do intend camo paint the rest as these are different than the Imperial Knights as they are part of the military of the state of the Khadrovian Union of United Republics
Wow, 200 pages! need to make a milestone here.
Thank you. Gotta make them all look nice for when I snap pics of the parade.

Well, I am using him with the Name Zhuikov, but I also have more images I uploaded.
Oh and here is a size comparison of the Yukikaze, both 1/1000 and the larger, maybe 1/550 scale?

Creed/Zhuikov, getting prepped for his big Parade, the gray of his coat is done for the basics, highlights and the red and the gold brocade wings, the rest of him has still much to go.

All looking good, Zhuikov is looking brilliant.
Liking Bannerman. And the troops look great.
Is it me or have you got a different red on the different scale ships there. Both look brilliant. Just looks subtle difference.

Post by: shasolenzabi

Thanks about the way I am working the IG guys.
Hvy weapons arte Wargames Factory made for the great coats, once done, I will pose them with the entire, and smallish Tyarvetzyan platoon 1 command squad, 2 x rifle squads, now 2 heavy weapon teams.

"Commander I bring you paper to wipe your bum with"
"You don't have to kneel, is that document important?"
"No sir, its the promotion list for officer candidates. And I'm kneeling because filter mask isn't working."
"Has there been a toxic attack?"
"No, you just need to wipe last nights dinner off your bum and stop eating whatever makes that smell"
" insubordinate swine" BANG
Sorry couldn't help myself, been thinking about the toilet terrain competition this morning. Still having troubles with ideas

And 200 brings us....CREEEED!
.....and toilet paper.
Seeing those 2 Yukikaze makes me think you should do some large scale battle shots against a black background....you could get a real sense of scale with the differing sizes you have

Zhuikov is a man who climbed the ranks, proved his worth, but still identifies with the men, other generals who strut and preen like jumped up peacocks disgust him, he would rather check the morale of his troops and share some of the well known drinks and commiserate and sing, and swap tales with them before a battle, going over maps and planing is for the officer meetings before evening, and when he wakes up. He is the soldiers general.

THanks! still touch ups and the khaki/sand blocks for the armor as they are veterans so they get that touch, which also helps me tie the Kruegerian shock troopers in wit their carapace as it follows that pattern.

Good fluff work too.
Took a while for me to remember what was happening from last time, but that's my memory for you.
A few little type-o's, but otherwise fine.
