Well sweet relief on Nepharya, very tempted to go and ask them to change things though not at all pleased with how Elektra came out, that fur thing is just awful on something I was going to use as Pask, and the mysterious disappearance of Ludmilla's leg is disappointing too, so that's two I'm not overly chuffed with already and there's still some other's I've put in that are artwork which I'm beginning to regret.
Ronin, the PM isn't closed yet of course, so they don't really have to lock any numbers in just yet
Or maybe they just don't like you personally.
On a far more positive note. Elektra looks freaking awesome with her piss cutter.... errr garrison cap. I like it a lot better then her barracks cover. I might however steal that head and stick it on one of my Heavy Trooper girls so the Starshina sticks out even more.
So this head on a heavy trooper's body.
And then the glorious, Commander looking as such.
All these weapons options have me really excited too. I'm already trying to figure out some kind of skirmish game or even RPG I can start using my squadette for.
Also going to repost this, just because it's gorgeous.
I was wondering if someone can explain something to me, please? I have always been interested in specific models in the TGotG range, but I don't have a KS account nor have any interest in making one.
I just want to buy specific models and don't care about all the other processes involved.
Can someone please answer: Where can I buy specific models? Are they available yet to non-KSers?

They are not. None of the KS backers have any in their hands yet.
I think it was actually the naked torso with the wires that made me want a second one for cutting up purposes. Along with all the mecha-tools and tentacles obviously.

Spoiler:
While the model does look quite nice, what is with the devil dog on her back? Is that one of the cutsie pets shown last year like the hippo or pug? Or is that some decorative design on something else?
UPDATE #91 – A Few Extra Details

We are now very close to the finish line, and once again, we wanted to thank you for your amazing support! It's so wonderful for us to be in contact with your passion for new characters who just sprung into existence a few months ago, and who already seem to have a life of their own. Thank you very much for that!
We are already thinking about their next adventures, and dreaming of how each of them will grow and evolve in the next coming years... Today, there's only a few sculpts left to finalise, and we look forward to seeing through production and onwards to you.
We are now very excited to be able to start shipping. We really hope you'll love them!
Shipping starting!
As the last ones are finishing their Pledge Manager selection, we are already busy preparing the first packages for shipment! We have loads of TGG girls ready to swarm all over the world!
About the Iron Empire Mecha:
There have been a few remarks that the sculpt was somehow too different from the concepts. While we can understand some of these reactions, we thought it needed some clarification.
First of all, it looks like a mix-up happened with the concept we have been working from. You would not believe how many iterations we went through for many of the Kickstarter characters, and this is particularly true for the Mechas and the Motorbikes. The one-before-last concept for the IE Mecha looked really nice, but we felt that somehow, his head mask did not convey well enough the feel of the Aegyptian background we've been working on. So we asked Alex, our concept artist, to make one final version with a funeral mask that would evoke that feeling. This took place during the Kickstarter campaign itself, and even if we were not 100% happy with the new mask, we felt it was closer to our original intent.
Fast forward several months. We start the sculpting of the Mecha, and we provide this last version of the concept as a guide for the sculptor. When the sculpted mask comes in, as we expected, it looks a bit too flat and boring, and with the Pledge Manager's close fast approaching, we try several options to make it look more tri-dimensional and imposing.
It's only after we got your feedback that we realised that the concept we posted on the Pledge Manager and on the Kickstarter page was not the final version, but the one before that.
So, what to do now? With the 150+ unique sculpts we had to work on, this mishap was bound to happen at least once... Amazingly enough, none of us noticed that we were not using the concept from the Kickstarter page... The good thing is that there have always been 3 heads planned with the Mecha kit, so we are doing the third one identical to the concept that you've all been shown. We could do the 3 heads in the style of the old concept, but other people are also telling us they prefer the new heads (as do we), and we don't want to disappoint anyone, so we'll let the first 2 heads stand.
Also, just to clarify one thing, the 2 heads shown in the past Update are not real faces, but mortuary masks, in the spirit of what is found in ancient Egyptian sarcophagi.
You may also have noticed that we slightly changed the position of the body on the Mecha, as it works much better this way in a tri-dimensional space. We definitely kept and accentuated the feel of the crucified hanging body. And for the many of you who have been wondering, yes, the body is wrapped up like a mummy, just like in the concept.
Finally, as you can imagine, since we want to keep the Mecha models as posable as possible, but since we were also in a rush to show you the sculpt before closing the Pledge Manager, we had to omit a few tubes here and there. Once we have properly cut this model and prepared an articulation system, we'll see if we can put back some of those tubes without creating posing and casting problems.
One last remark that we want to address was concerning a feeling that the IE Mecha weapons might not look aggressive enough. That's very much the reason why we've been avoiding to rush out the presentation of new models since the beginning of the Kickstarter (although we did have to rush the IE Mecha's outing so you could see it in time). We do agree that we can probably give a bit more oomph to this Mecha's weaponry. Once again, we'll see what we can do without disappointing those who like it as is.
Final version of the IE Mecha concept, the one we used for sculpting.
Final version of the IE Mecha concept, the one we used for sculpting.
About Ludmilla's leg:
This is actually quite funny... Apparently, some of you are seeing her right leg as a cybernetic prothesis, which was never our original intent. But the sculptor who worked on her first also succumbed to the same optical illusion...
If you look at the concept, you'll see a white stripe running down her lower leg, and it could be interpreted as the space between 2 mechanical elements. In fact, this white stripe is just the reflexion of light on her shiny patent leather boots.
Regarding the Command Group Weapons:
Spotted a few small errors during the making of the update (probably we should eschew the 6AM Updates ….). Nothing serious, though.
First, to clarify our weapons denomination: energy or beam guns/rifles/pistols all refer to the same kind of weapon technology, that is, a weapon shooting a strong energy beam.
You will notice that on the weapon images we issued yesterday, one rifle was called energy and the other was called beam, but this is basically the same type of weapon.
Please note that as our upcoming game is currently being developed, these denominations are very likely to change in the future, even if the actual weapons do not.
And a special bonus for you:
Also, you will notice that on the render of the regular KST Regular Command Group, one of the girls is holding a heavy weapon similar to the one that Cruz and Aaqila are using.
This was also an error on our end, as she should have been holding one of the heavy weapons shown on the Command Group weapon sheet.
But this is actually good news for you! You will get an additional heavy weapon in the KST Regular Command Group box. It may actually be a Kickstarter exclusive, as we have not yet decided if that big heavy weapons will remain part of the Command Group boxes once they are released to retail.
Top of the world!
As we are now very close to completing the more demanding tasks of this Kickstarter and we feel the excitement of shipping now building up, we are keep getting more and more heartwarming messages from all of you guys! We very much appreciate it, as this year has been so intense and exhausting for the whole team.
One of the most amazing message we received came in from SinSynn via his blog post 'I Heart Raging Heroes' this week. Not only does he captures what we're attempting to do and stand for, but he's got such a thoroughly funny and enjoyable style that it makes for a great read. Thanks SinSynn!!!

She's wearing a wolf skin. Ala the Roman Signifer and warriors of yor who wanted to look bad ass.
Hm, I might do that. Drop 2 more troop boxes and get Nepharya and Eisenstein.
That way I will have only a single platoon worth of girls *gears turning* that could be part of the armored regiment, which could be not-Cadian (since there's no real apparent Cadians in my existing tanks), while Infantry remains fully Cadian and consistent, since the troops would be a bitch to convert to fit Cadians I believe.
Ok I guess I have to do it then, thanks for the inspiration.
I suppose Nepharya is also an excellent source of servo-arms to hand out to my servitor cyber-zombies.
Edit: Gah, hjere we go I get excited again. I'll probably forget all this by the time I get my stuff in 2020, since I went with Spin-Cast Resin for conversion purposes.
Same here, couldn't resist adding Nepharya. I had dropped her from my order because of that disappearing render stuff. But now I need her, because reasons . ^^
I really hope they do the part breakdown in a way she's not too fragile, nor horrible to assemble.
But hey, I have an unassembled Exorcist tank with catastrophically ill-fitting pieces sitting in front of me - can't be worse than that.
Ok, the hippo just stumbled into the chat and supposedly fixed my order, dropped some cannon fodder in exchange for my armored regiment support group vision.
Harry the Hippo
I got it then
YOu'll receive an invoice between today and monday
Pawel Antemijczuk
Great, thank you
Harry the Hippo
and then I'll modify your order
Not sure what exactly this means, I hope they get it right in the end.
Also I was very tempted to exit with "And now I must go", but alas the Hippo simply retreated into silence after this.
There will be tracking info on all packages on the day they're ready to go, according to them. As I said in the KS comments, it'll stop working as soon as it reaches my shores... but that's what happens when you live in a frozen commie hell.
Whoops, so nice save me, I apparently had two of the KST Strategist on my order, so when I dropped one I still had one on my order. Really glad I emailed RH to get the Necropriestess now, of any of the models on my pile Ludmilla is the one I wouldn't be okay having an extra of.
Mathieu Raymond wrote: I'm not posting here until I get my shipping notification. Plus I'm in the middle of urgent renovations. Home office is looking like a warzone.
I am, oddly, in the same boat. (Or at least a similar one.)
There is only a finite number of times we can laugh about "And now I must go", etc. We're waiting for more pearls from RH at the moment.
They seem to have gone quiet. Probably realised after having finished 80% of packing, that they have a new improved way of doing that, so are in the middle of ripping open all boxes.
It is also a Kickstarter that shipped really late (shock!) and, while it turned out better than expected, the miniature quality there won't match what will ship from this one.

After looking at this, I guess we should all be grateful to the french overlords, for going resin, not this restic goo.
Anyway, someone told me that there's "confirmed info" that wave 1 ships this week, although I have no idea where did that confirmation come from and what is it worth.
I would surmise that shipping must be keeping them busy. And I think the newborn is too young yet to help, too. Besides, they must be receiving a steady stream of new masters too, if they are too make good on their estimate for Wave 2.
"Nothing in this hobby warms the icy cold bodily-fluid-exchanging-chambers in my central thorax like a miniatures company that actually interacts with their fanbase, appreciates the kudos they receive, respectfully responds to criticism, and does it in a polite and professional manner." Great article from House Of Paincakes.

His whole blog post is a pretty good read.
"Shush, youse. And don't you judge me. Go and have a look yerself (here's another linkie), and tell me Raging Heroes hasn't created an entire lineup of completely amazing models.
Go ahead, I dare you. Just don't blame me if you end up dropping enough money to get you in trouble with your significant other, like I did (moar on that later...)....
The models, including the cigar-smoking, helmet bearing Bulldog, are just...beautiful. Really they are.
And I've got 34 moar unique Toughest Girls coming, thanks to my involvement in the Kickstarter- including all the ones I posted pics of here, and many, many, many more...
Lil' backstory- when I filled out my Toughest Girls order, I went a lil' bonkers and spent the full amount of my pledge, using every last nickel to claim as many figs as I could. Now I figured I would hafta add a few bucks fer shipping- no big deal, I'd just use PayPal, and all would be well.
Unfortunately, cuz I'm a dumbass, I ended up billing the entire thing to PayPal, cuz I forgot to select the 'Use Store Credit' option and use my pledge money to pay fer everything...
It's not like the Pledge Manager Instructions weren't perfectly clear, cuz they were.
I am just an idiot. Anyone that's read my posts with any regularity can prolly vouch fer me on this one... "
Yeah, it's a great read. Though I struggled to focus on it through all the froth and anger induced tears.
In regards to the blog, yes the writing is godawful but if you go to a random Internet blog expecting Shakespearean prose you're generally disappointed. He more or less states that he has no prior experience with backing a KS project and, in comparison to the abusive relationship that most gamers are coming out of with GW, Raging Heroes IS a great deal better in terms of taking feedback and suggestions. However, in terms of responding to feedback GW doesn't so much set the bar as it digs a trench that the bar is then thrown into; nearly any company can lay claim to being more responsive than GW so long as they have ever listened to a consumer's opinion.
If you've not dealt with any of the better KS projects, RH will seem like the bee's knees and even accounting for a wider experience base they are not a bad company. However, they are also a long way from the gold standard in this arena, and I'd rate even a stellar production run as only moving them to silver (which is still a good deal better than many companies *cough*Defiance*cough*). A solid final production will bring in tons of new backers any overall "hit" to the brand could easily end up overshadowed, but they've alienated a good chunk of potential customers for no particularly good reason with their, at best, muddled communications strategy.
Hope nothing it's just logic. We've seen the stuff comes in mass bags not parted out. Let's say that's Yoko and she has three sprues. The best and most efficient way to make sure Yoko gets packaged with all three of her sprues is to lay them out like that then package them as needed.
Yea, I agree with KM. When I was making models for Cyporian I discovered that I had zero ability to count to 5 reliably. After a while all those parts start to look the same and it is super easy to make mistakes packaging. You have to be really deliberate and methodical about it (or have your OCD wife check your work, like I did.)
Especially if you are doing QC at the time of packaging.
In one of their pictures, they had a mat with boxes drawn onto it, I was kind of expecting the same, writ large, for this part of the process. Haven't been able to check my emails in almost a week. Anyone got a delivery tracking thingy?
wait ...what? I am currently thinking shipping it out is going to take longer than 2 months. I am now more jaded than Mathieu!
I think the world stopped moving... nope that was RH picking and packing because they decided the boxes the miniatures are packed into are the wrong size to be aesthetically pleasing and also someones' cousins dog had a litter.

While the first part I agree with (I think I even said the same thing ), the latter was a bit unnecessary.
Not really. They're a company with a million dollar contract, paid in advance, and they're a year behind schedule. But you wouldn't know that from the amount of faffing about they've been doing.

And insulting them is just fine, I suppose. But calling an uninvolved individual a dog, and referring to her children as a litter? Seems pretty over the top. I understand we all like to engage in humorous hyperbole now and then, but there should be a limit imposed by good taste. And the act of referring to newborn children as dogs seems to be squarely outside of those limits.
Yeah, I also got the impression it was hyperbole for humor not an insult aimed at people. However I still don't expect my jailbirds and Pureblood Warpwolf (Kurganova wereshewolf) before my birthday in late October. It may be shipped by then but I doubt it will be at my lovely FLGS.
It was still a little distasteful. I like poking fun at the company as much as anyone here, but let's keep it at the company itself, rather than individuals?
They are just waiting for the right moment to announce all the packed parcels have been destroyed as they wanted to go back and rework the packing as part of their patented top secret workflow.
Well, you must understand, in the interest of being true to the spirit of the project and the highest requirements of art, rather then being packing in common cardboard each package is being carefully sourced in the Styrofoam clam-shell box of a 1974 McDonald's Big Mac.
That we even question these decisions ever increases the concern that we may simply be unworthy of this genius.
Delicious.
P.S., I also interpreted the jibe as a reference to a real dog having puppies.

Same here.
I think it is a bit of a stretch to interpret that as referring back to the uncle and his nephew's birth and then calling them dogs and puppies.
I think it was more of something along the lines of "What will happen next to delay this project?"
Automatically Appended Next Post: Then again, I am already Walken the thin line as I've chosen a mini for which as of yet, nothing outside of concept art is available. For all I know they'll be giving Wolfenstein a new pigeon-toed pose and a different set of weapons.

Ok, I'll say this, and leave it at that: Some people (who weren't complaining before, and very few) have been saying they haven't got there notification yet in the comments.
If you were willing to wait that long for Wave 1, don't get all whiny all of a sudden. The way shipping was set up a long time ago, we knew the process would be complicated, and intense.
Holy crap , I didn't think one throw away line would cause such scrutiny. I meant the dog having a litter as something along the lines of "my dog ate it" as in reference to homework , but referencing the birth of a nephew or neice whatever it was because i thought that was a ridiculous excuse.
When I get my miniatures in 6 months time, it WILL be worth it.
BrookM wrote: Someone in the KS comments has gotten shipping confirmation, so it finally begins.
This is great fun, now I can move on to wondering whether or not the required number of other people chose the same dropship location as I did, or if I'll have to wait several months until every model I selected is finished(because no f'in chance am I giving them even more money for personal wave shipping).
There is a photo on their facebook page showing several parcels all packaged up, suggesting that shipping has indeed begun for those who we fortunate enough to only pick miniatures that ended up in wave one.
Or perhaps people are getting sent empty cardboard boxes with a fortune cookie message inside.
I do hope they pack more than that per day. My (admittedly low) estimate was 30 packages a day. If that is all they do in a single day... it'll be a long time...
Buzzsaw wrote: Why do two of the packages have the address crossed out?
Actually quite normal for mail coming from France, mainly because the French postal services are quite incompetent and possibly chauvinist. I had two parcels from a French bits site take super-long to reach me because their equivalent of a postal worker kept delivering the parcel back to the sender, instead of you know, the address that was printed on the envelope super-big up front.

As an American I can at least understand them being that way. We are considered pretty damn arrogant.
So...since i bought like...ALL THE MINIATURES...and am only doing one shipping cost. I suppose I'll actually see all my stuff...next year or something. Is that how the shipping works with them?

There were no comics created in Quebec, at all. So everything we read had to come from France (since we would only learn English at 10 years old or later). Asterix, Yoko Tsuno, Spirou, Lagaffe (which is it's own critique of French youth work ethics), that's all we had.
As for shipping, if everything was to be done in September this year, like they said, I suppose Xmas would be possible. But I doubt there won't be delays. The real question becomes "Do they launch their second kickstarter just around Xmas like I think they planned to, or do they wait until this one is fully delivered?"

Asterix is the only comic needed on that list, it is so brilliant I refuse to read any French literature so as not to tarnish it's resonance with me. * Madame Bovary excluded.
People are getting shipment notifications? Impossibru.

Also not to derail, but I'm pretty sure Asterix is world-wide famous with comics being translated into several languages in the world, same with the plethora of animated and quite a few live actions movies (the ones where Depardieu plays a character smarter than he himself). I'm surprised by the surprise.
Also it seems I am now in the Middle East. How fun. Thank you corporate proxy!

As bad at communication as they are and as long as this has taken...I really am quite the sucker for hot girl miniatures I'll NEVER ACTUALLY PAINT. Cause we all have a hobby...and mine makes no sense. So I may pledge. I mean..they do make really good stuff.
Also 4 armies at once ....WTF?!!! I cant imagine that will end in any other than a rift opening in France that eventually pours out a enough internet rage demons to destroy all of mankind. I'll have extra popcorn on hand

The only time I ever saw asterix comics was when I lived in Germany. I read them over and over and over again. Not one of my so called "geek" friends even knows who Asterix and Obelisk even are. So when I see people mention that comic i get nostalgic and happy
Well, they're doing three armies at once now, so I'm sure they've perfected the process by now and upped the ante by adding another to the mix, because, this gak has got to be interesting and challenging aye?
To be honest, the dark elves are one army with extra bits. Whichstill leaves them at three armies, so I think as much hilarity will ensue. I'll pledge to get one mini, as a canoness, andof ccourse to get the updates and post in the is comments section!
Can they please have a kickstarter for plastic women in armor who transform into jet fighters. Most importantly, they need to have a third stage with a jet torso but long legs. And maybe some punky girls with missile racks in their shoulders that look like they can actually close.

And, to be fair, in regards to their next KS, I will probably end up suckered into that (But most likely for a few single minis, since I have no intention to make a SoB army) if only to follow this thread. Maybe we should Kickstart this?

If they do that, I'll probably pledge.
That's ....oddly specific.....
veritech girls?
Just veritechs. Thought someone who could sculpt should make them.
Oh, what's that? The birthday boy (is that really the only way to call it in english?) didn't show up? Oh well.
So, when was the least we heard from them? Minis supposedly shipping, drop ship problems and yet, not a single word, not a single picture of a mini someone received.

Once you have chosen a Drop Ship Location for the First Wave, you cannot change address for the next coming waves.
Your parcel will be available for pick-up at the drop ship location for up to 21 days after its arrival. After that period, the drop shipper is free to deal with your parcel as he sees fit
Call me paranoid, but if the trend continues it could turn out the package has been there for a week now.
Also:
The Drop Ship program requires that at least 3 backers subscribe to the same drop ship location.
No news about this either. It feels more annoying because it is so close to the end.
All in all, happy Valet dropped out of the dropships and had to pay a little extra for shipping. I've become very zen about this project all of a sudden.
No news, no long updates means they are busting a$$ shipping/drinking red wine. As long as I have my crappy GW acolytes, I can wait for those to show up. In Wave 2. Whenever.
I am thinking now, whether I should go and talk to my dropship, before they ship stuff. I actually haven't, although it's the biggest shop of that kind in Copenhagen and I've got another from the same company down the street. If we won't know anything from RH, maybe it's safer to ensure they tell me something...

I would if I were you, I've been checking in with mine periodically to confirm they were still involved as the project dragged on, and to inform them when I locked in my pledge with them as the location, so hopefully they'll take the time to email me even if RH don't.

Myeah, just tried to contact them via FB, otherwise it's a train trip for me.
Buzzsaw wrote:Well, just got a message that my drop ship location does not have enough backers (2 instead of 3).
Just to check, is there anyone else that would be interested in using Showcase comics in PA?
That is, shipping to;
Showcase Comics
Granite Run Mall
1067 W. Baltimore Pike
Media, Pennsylvania 19063
Otherwise... well, either more money, or some other changes...
Crap, hope that doesn't happen to me. I was planning on looking for a new apartment next year and I can already foresee issues with getting RH to change the delivery address mid-shipping...
Well, looks like they've taken a break from packing orders to go through the drop ship backers and work things out. Though looking at the comments there's at least two locations with insufficient backers to qualify.
Seems I was one of the lucky ones then, got an email from my dropship confirming RH have told them they've got enough orders to qualify, and they've been informed the first dropship wave will be on the way "soon"(tm).
Hopefully RH can hold it together and refrain from any more "artisté'ery" until this whole turgid affair is done with.

Well, the 23 minis of Wave 1 ought to hit retail this summer/early autumn. But it won't be enough to field a full army. Unless you like children soldiers.
I agree. But if you were to make a full army of them, if you didn't want to wait 6 weeks for Wave 2 to be ready (ah!), then you'd have no choice but to use them as rank and file troopers.

The Jailbirds: Blondie, Bernadette, Mimi the Radio, Yoko, Cruz, The 5 Lulus, the Freebie Lulu, Harry the Hippo
The Kurganova Shock Troops: Shashenka, Tarja, Irina Vega, Volga Potemkine, Charlie the war bulldog, Natasha
The Iron Empire: Drusilla (Kickstarter exclusive), Mortaria, Vera Krabbenhöft, Lady Hilda von Stroheim, Jinx
Automatically Appended Next Post: Please note that of those 23 minis, 3 of them are *almost* useless as game pieces. They'll make cute objectives, but that's about it.

But it's ok, their game isn't ready yet, anyway.
Thanks buddy.
The animal mascots are cute. Maybe not useful as actual stand for models per-se.
But like you say, they would make good objectives.
Quick translation of the guy who got his minis' (OMG am I really typing this?) opinion on the resin : "Quality is here. The resin is similar to FW resin, without the holes."
Sooooo... good news, at last ?
Can't wait to get the first part of my pledge. I don't live very far from where RH is based, so, it shouldn't be long, I hope. ^^'
I don't think they gave any indication the hand-poured resin was headed out at all. I do hope, for their sake, that this is the spin-cast stuff.
Some people seem to have a shamefully negative opinion about us, on that forum, too.

~iPaint
Spruing on those figs is very similar in style to GW Finecast spun resin. The piece at the top of the right hand figure looks like part of a circle which would be consistent with spin casting.

Why don't you translate the best bits for us, while we wait! The only thing I got out of it with Google Translate is that we are really audacious for demanding renders before filling in the PM. Also I can't shake the feeling that

Sigh, going to my dropship today to make sure these guys actually know what's going on.
Some people should just shut up and be grateful that they deigned to take our money and leave us in limbo for so long, I mean come on now, this isn't any other KS we've parted money with, this is an experience.

Lol....I've met people on the street that don't play wargames that have a low opinion of Dakka. We should be honored to be hated so.
Seriously though, other forums think Dakka is kinda a horrible place.

Is it? I always wondered why is it called that. (Yeah, I'm not a very good geek, am I?) They do have two stores actually, one is tabletop and the other comics all over, so I guess that's how it started.

Been reading up on this thread now and while I agree that RH are slower than I like, I cant seem to stop myself from getting more and more excited as time goes by. Really looking forward to building up my IG/AM army with these chicks and some Ramshackle tanks and heavy weapons.
I think I selected metal for every model that had the option between metal or resin, so I'll find out soon enough how they turned out.
Also, anybody else see the latest update? I put in my guess for the total number of bases.

Oi, if you mean the one in Lyngby, that's the one I live 5 minutes away from, I'm perfectly aware of what they stock and it is a mix of both other stores. It does seem to have a lot of LARP crap, true. You also dropshipping to Faraos? Maybe we should let the girls duke it out on the field some day.
Hopefully what I also see as bubbles are digitally sculpted holes.
The gun barrel though... that's going to be finnicky. I had to give up on Coteaz' hammer being straight on its own and had to carefully drill it all out and pin it from head to pommel.
Yup the bubbles are meant to be there, here's a 3D print that shows them. Depending on the exact type of resin the gun barrel may or may not be an easy fix with hot water or a hair dryer, it certainly looks pretty good to me
Yeah, all the "bubbles" on Blondie look like they are an intentional part of the sculpt. Did you see some that looked accidental, Alex? (Could you point them out, in case I'm missing them?) And while that gun barrel does INDEED look minorly warped, I'd expect that gun barrel to be warped no matter the medium. (Or broken, if it was plastic.) I'll be more than happy to gently straighten my metal one.
Side note: did I miss this?
Spoiler:
What is this coaster thing?! Did I miss out on my opportunity to get it?!

I'll assume that the holes were just the deliberate ones. However, I still disagree that the warped gun barrel would always be a problem. In plastic, it would be intact unless the mould did not fill properly - the sprue would protect the barrel from being caught on anything that might warp it. Even in metal, it would be less likely to be warped in the first place, and once you bent it back into shape it would stay that way, instead of slowly bending again because some dumbass bent it before the polymer was properly set.
I see one bubble at the base of the shorter cape between her legs.
Re: Gun barrel... really? REALLY? the number of times I got bent lasgun barrels on FWDKoK minis is unreal and you're faulting them for one bent barrel? I guess some people will complain about anything.
I've committed war crimes, spam a lot of images and all that. Plus me and some others have more or less been wet blankets from before it all started, maybe more or less negatively predicting some of the stuff that has happened, like we thought it through or something before pledging.
Awww, Brook, you are a large part of the reason I read this thread!
Re: Blondie: Yea, I am 90% sure the only actual air bubble is the one on the shorter cloak between her knees. Although Finecast style spin cast resin can get bubbles anywhere (as GW's complete lack of QC demonstrates) usually it is on the downside of parts, defined by the "sprue" that connects the feet where the pouring point usually is. So if you are holding the model with the sprue part up you expect the bubbles to be facing the ceiling.
Not a bad casting job, although it is confusing why there would be a bubble there. No reason not to vent that into the larger cloak.
Yeah, out of all the "wet blankets" you seem like the most-loved. You're pretty good at conveying at being non-instigatory, and conveying a light hearted tone in most of your posts. Plus, you bring us lots of funny gifs. (One of which is going to be my new avatar when I hit 10,000 posts.)
Time for me to be an attention whore. My shipment came in today, and I took a few pics. I have a poor setup for picture taking, and only my phone's camera for it, so I apologize for the lighting issues.
First up, it would seem the coasters are collectible, as I received two different coasters, and not the same one seen above.
Spoiler:
Second, here's the "collection" pic of everything I received. The only resins are Drusilla, the little mascots, the freebie Lulu, and Natasha. Everything else I went for metal where I could.
Spoiler:
Next up is a comparison pic of Drusilla with a random WIP MkII assault marine I had lying on my desk.
Spoiler:
Finally, as we've seen a resin One-Shot Blondie, I thought I would post a close up of the metal version. The gun barrel had just the tiniest bend to it,
Spoiler:
Now, regarding the resins, I only found one air bubble (in a small spot on Drusilla's jetpack), and it can easily be fixed with green stuff. The resin itself feels closer to Forgeworlds resin that Finecast (the few Finecast models I own have a rough texture and no weight to them, but this resin is a bit smoother to the touch, like FW's). I'll try to get them assembled over the next few days. Also, out of curiousity, the plastic bases have "D&G 2011" on the inside. Is that familiar to anyone?
Perhaps some feel that the complaints and grievances in this thread are starting to lag behind those of the Robotech thread?
We are prodigiously complaint ridden folks, that's for sure.
That said, gotta say, this seems to have gone from 'why is the pledge manager a running gag' to 'I have received my wave one shipment' way faster than I anticipated. Glad to see someone is getting something out of a Kickstarter at least...

You're not the only one who is in all honesty surprised by people getting models, especially more or less as promised.
I've had my wave 1 special snowflake personal drop shipping notification. Looks like the package has either just left France or is about to head out, so should be in the correct country shortly.

Y U say France is incorrect country???
It's been almost a month of shipping now. They ought to reach the drop ships stuff soon. I hope.
We haven't seen any packaging for retail sale, have we? In an update, or even discussed?
Shiny packaging that entices purchases is important. The last real wargaming FLGS in my area has these great deals on resin buildings, very good price for the quality, but they are packaged in a loose bag with a big printed cardboard tab and that's it. I'll be honest, they're not very tempting.
Or something granola like a post-consumption recycled box with that "Instagram" feel visual they did for the coasters.
Oh gosh... what if all of that time spent on tweaking the concept art was playing with Instagram? 0_o

Because it's not the country they need to be in to be in my hands
As for drop shipping, they've only just finished sorting out the details for that so we might see people using that method mentioning things soon. Though I'd expect that once we get to wave 2 things'll be smoother.
Retail packaging would probably be best in plastic blisters, otherwise how are people going to see how delicious the figures are in order to know that they're not worthy of having them?

They're currently using simple clamshells IIRC, it may be a bit too gaudy for their tastes I suppose.

Oh dear, I can see the printer layers. These are not going to paint up well :(
Local commission painter was already complaining to about the problems he's been having with 3D printed miniatures. Companies are not doing post-printing clean-up and so you see the layers when you start painting. Was hoping RH would be doing some clean-up before casting.
Glad I am not the only one who spotted that weird stepped pattern on the cloak. I thought it might have been a missed fingerprint in the sculpt, forgetting it was a 3d print.
So how well does that bode for the rest of the 10^24 sculpts that were done on the computer for this line?
Mathieu Raymond wrote: BrookM: Didn't they also mention in the last update that they have reworked on Ilsa... so you really have no idea what you'll end up with?
Exactly, not cool. But hey, I'm supposed to shut the gaking fething feth up, get down on my knees be grateful that they're even doing this and where so generous to take my money. We're not even sure if this model will be part of wave 2 as their sculptors also (they really do, no sarcasm there) need their vacation time, which will cut into their secret workflow and stuff. Were I paranoid I'd think they were just doing it to get back at me and all the times I raised my voice, but, you know, it's okay, right?
Wehrkind wrote: Glad I am not the only one who spotted that weird stepped pattern on the cloak. I thought it might have been a missed fingerprint in the sculpt, forgetting it was a 3d print.
Looks to me like a fingerprint. The curved pattern looks more "fingerprint like" than a 3D stepped pattern. Anyone else see stairstep patterns anywhere else on the model? I don't...
Perhaps the packers or the OP was eating while handling the model
I'd agree with the above, if it was a run of the mill £2-3 miniature, but when you hype yourself up to be the best of the best of the best of the best, you'd better damned well make sure that lazy mistakes like that don't get through your 50 gazillionty super secret reworkings!

I took a long look at the mini in question (as the guy who took the pic of the metal Blondie). If nobody had mentioned the lines, or where they were (bottom right of cloak), I probably never would have seen them, Running my fingernail over them, they feel no different to any other part of the model.
Someone mentioned a "grainy" aspect to the model. That could just be the rather large scaled picture I took. The real model is, of course, a fraction of the size of that picture. Comparing it to some other metals I have (GW, PP, and Reaper), it looks to me to be about the same.

Unfortunately the flaws don't show up till you're painting and starting to apply washes. Prepping miniatures with this flaw requires using a fine sand paper, not a file to smooth it out. Hit the miniature with an ink wash and that will make the details pop out.
Worse, looking at the pattern, it looks like the miniature was printed laying on it's back instead of standing. It allows for figures to be printed faster, but the layer lines can be spread out more among the figs. Andrew Rae of Statuesque Miniatures did a write-up of the problems doing it that way. He got some bad prints from Maxmini3D and when they wouldn't resolve the issues, he went public with his dispute.
minor clean up is part of every miniature ever. I think at this point that's just looking for thing to be mad about. Lets see it with at least primer first then relight the torches. If after minor clean up and one coat of primer its still there..then sure, lets get the mob ready
Or they could do what Hasslefree does, take a mini fresh from casting, give it a quick scrub and a dark wash, then take a pic of it when dry, it's how they show off their quality as the model comes right out of casting.

Any chance you could provide us with the one thing every miniature company on the planet seems genetically incapable of; a proper scale shot? ie, the model on a normal 25mm base rather than some two inch high scenic monstrosity, either next to a ruler measuring from the surface of the base, or next to models from other manufacturers on the same bases? Would be most appreciated.
