Amen to that! I'd only just discovered these guys as their licence got pulled :(
There's already regular Batman, Nolan-verse Batman with and without motorcycle and The Dark Knight Returns fat Batman.
I wouldn't mind a Solomon Grundy mini as a final addition to the Pinguin gang and I'd love to see more Robins, especially Damian.
Boxed gangs are available, but only for certain things, penguin, 2 face, joker, origins bane etc, have boxed sets.
A lot of the heroes come single with the exception of some of the police,
The watchmen work in the game, but cannot work with batman or the villains as far as I'm aware (I may be wrong on this)
I've played 3 games so far, 1 at 150 so i could learn the basics with my gf. and another two at 200, But I'd assume you could go bigger, maybe cap it off at 300?
Bane's design was one of the few good things in Origins. The mini looks good, but it would be even better without the jacket so we could see the Venom injection system.
I keep thinking it would be so awesome if Knights Models startet to make usable minis based on Marvel so I could put Wolverine and Batman in the same team. It would be like Heroclix, only not stupid and ugly.
happygolucky wrote: I would love to see a Firefly Arkham Origins model, he would be cool alongside Freeze for me
That would be good. I recently did the Firefly boss fight on New Game + so I would like to see Firefly in miniature form. That jet-pack of his is badass!
There are still a whole load of characters from Asylum / City / Origins / Nolanverse films that still have the potential to be made into miniatures:
*why not? Knight Models released that recent Bane gang based on the same online multiplayer designs!
Wow, that list has started to sound a bit wish-listy!
Back-on topic, I received a blister of some of the Joker thugs yesterday (this one).
I noticed how small and out-of-scale the machine gun thug is compared to the rest of them. His head is tiny and the character looks really skinny in comparison to the rest of the Joker thugs I have. Are there any other models in the range that suffer from the same sort of scale issue, anyone?
I think they will be doing the assassins first before anything else tbh, which is cool I want TYGER guards, Hugo, firefly to come out so I can have a cool team with Victor, untill then I think I will just grind on and buy the Joker set (makes sense for Victor and Joker to work together since in Arkham City Joker had his wife on ransom)..
I'm in the UK and we're pretty much nearly a month behind the USA and it hasn't spoilered much of anything. Well, not anything more than... any trailer ever made has.
More importantly, it shows an awesome variety of 'realistic' costumes for various DC characters that'd fit right in with the minis game.
Any idea about gameplay? This looks so interesting and I'd like to get fully involved but I'd like more information. I picked up the Heath Ledger Joker and Christian Bale Batman to paint and display. I like the Arkham City style but didn't want to invest unless I was able to learn more. Any gamers out there that have experience with the mechanics?

Thanks!
I haven't tried yet but we've ordered every model we're interested in so I can report soon.
The game is amazing. Its quickly becoming my go-to game alone with warmahordes and infinity.
The rules are tight and the characters play like how you would imagine them.
My girlfriend loves it as well. and Im getting some success sucking the locals into it as well. The only issue with them is distribution to my flgs so we run out of stock fast and have a rough time with restocks.
The rules are free though so I suggest having a look and decide for yourself :-)
God, those Watchmen characters and that classic Batman are all just too awesome. This is a project I had no idea I was interested in, I've got some backlog to go over!
While I really like Knight Models, these releases weren't that appealing for me. The Thing, one of my favorite Marvel characters looked kinda meh, unfortunately. :/
The factions are quite balanced with what Ive played. guns are really powerful however, but are mitigated by terrain pretty well. and the absence of light on the table.
Also despite not being able to field the gotham sirens legally, you could always house rule it for fun. im sure it would still be balanced
I would like to know how the game works. Are the factions balanced?
When I was looking at the cards it looked like you can not field the Gothem Sirens (Catwoman, Harley, and Ivy). pity.
Factions- and the game as a whole are probably the most balanced mini game Ive played- joker is a little skewed, and some factions are more "beginner friendly" tho
Sirens CAN be run- Ivy runs as leader- Harley has "affinity" so she can join, and catwoman is a free agent- so she can join- in a standard 300rep list, you can run them, some plants- and maybe a few goons- a fluffy, and actually very solid list.
(after years of lurking, i made an account just to correct this- I love BMG and want to spread info as much as possible)
Thanks Endalyon, I didn't have the cards in front of me, so I didn't know if Any of them were leaders, free agents or sidekicks. Thanks for the clarification
With terrain being a big factor to mitigate the use of firearms in the game how are people going about getting terrain?
Are there manufacturers out there for 32/35mm stuff or are people just building their own Gotham City streets and alley ways?
I'd like to know how involved I need to be to decide whether Batman and Joker are gamed with or if they go on the collector's shelf with my other collectible paraphernalia.
Normal 28mm terrain works fine with the game. Id suggest 2 companies in particular. Sarrissa terrain from the UK is fantastic. as well as Impudent Mortal in the US.
On a side note Walt from Impudent Mortal is finishing up a commissioned Batman table and will be using the designs in an upcoming kickstarter. Mdf terrain

Really?
Can't wait to see that stuff - it is just what I'm looking for!
That's the newest thing he's done for terrain, There's subsequent links at the start of each thread to a previous buildings as well. I particularly like the cracked glass he's doing for the windows out of acrylic.
He's working on shipping out all the orders from his previous kickstarter that finished at the end of last month so I'm guessing the KS for this will likely be in a month or 2ish
I do not mean to thread necro anything ever but this I couldn't pass up as I love the batman miniatures game. Hi everyone, not seen anyone post this info up so I thought I'd share. People that have been searching for a batmobile or a tumbler in scale with the batman miniatures game look no further!!!! I found one just off in scale by a hair it's not readily noticeable! 35mm is 1/41 in plastic kits and therefore it's an odd scale. Having searched I around I found this wonderful piece!
1/43 Eaglemoss Batmobile Die Cast Model from the Batman Begins movie.
Now I just need to pick up the terrain and objective markets and I'm pretty set. I like the feel of the Nolan movies so I paint my bad guys to be more realistic and less video game-ish.
I'll have to get the bat cycle model now and really start to expand my gotham city terrain
By the way, the model car cost roughly 25 bucks but it comes assembled and painted so no fuss no muss and it instantly makes your games bad@$$!
(Just so you know, there IS a Marvel Knight model thread floating around here somewhere.)
I don't like Deapool as a character, but that is a nice representation of him.
That Venom though, so wrong, and not in a good way. He need to be elongated in some way or have tendrils or something. And the eyes. Just not working for me.
No rules for the Marvel line yet. And, so far, many of the models made are too powerful to fit into the Batman game, where an assault rifle is pretty much the height of technology and power.
They said are working on a SuperHero Game that allows to play with Marvel and DC characters, btw I´m agree with Drazz, Batman Game is more like a Vigilantes game (batman, watchmen, Joker, etc) than a super heros game.
NewTruthNeomaxim wrote: I'm pretty sure that is the Mac Gargan Venom, which would account for the aesthetic. If it is supposed to be Eddie Brock, then yeah... failboat.

You did, however, send me down a wikipedia rabbit hole...and I don't know if that makes me an even bigger nerd.
Stat wise, which Batman would you guys consider the best? I like the Frank Miller sculpt and I am holding out hope for a New 52 Batman to go with Damian.
primalexile wrote: Stat wise, which Batman would you guys consider the best? I like the Frank Miller sculpt and I am holding out hope for a New 52 Batman to go with Damian.
Personally i like Arkham City Bats the best followed by movie version. He has access to the cool toys, and his counter attack rule is amazing. Movie bats is good for his handcuffs, allowing him to make arrests. I own 3 different batmans right now and im grabbing the rest soon. They all work well in their own way from what ive seen and played
primalexile wrote: Stat wise, which Batman would you guys consider the best? I like the Frank Miller sculpt and I am holding out hope for a New 52 Batman to go with Damian.
Batpod is pretty awesome too, since you get Rises version on foot too (though its two different purchases for you to have he models). It's also the fastest model in the game and has one of the most devistating weapons in its autocannon.
Of course, Adam West version is, well, Adam West. And has the advantage of being the lowest cost in reputation. So, you could now fit Batman, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Robin in a 300 point team (I think).
Personally, I think the Batclaw is so good it should be a reason to choose a model.
Thanks guys! The current plan I have is to buy the model I like the best (Frank Miller of course) and use the different stat cards so I do not need all the other batman models. I am getting an order ready to try and push the game on my group.
So far sticking at 150 I have.
Miller Batman & Damian Robin
Two Face Starter
Penguin Starter
Joker Starter
Bane solo just Bane 150 points there
I may add the GCPD Starter as well in case Batman and Robin are on the weak side.
New models keep coming. This now allows for more themes from the heroes, specifically the Birds of Prey (yay!) and Green Arrow crews (including Arrow variations).
i disagree...
i don't think the Infinity biker makes a better Lobo than the actual Lobo mini, though i do think it is a cooler mini, being on a badass bike and all...
i also happen to like the foot on the rock, especially for a static mini...
I have a large portion of the Batman line, though oddly only a single Batman. I think their casing is very good. Mold lines are minimal. Flash is rare. Connecting parts, like arms, sometimes are difficult to clean up and make fit properly.
My biggest issue is scale on a single model. Arms often look shorter than they should be. However, scale of weapons is oddly accurate, which sometimes looks odd since we collectors are so used to oversized weapons. Look at Gordon's pistol to see what I mean.
Todosi wrote: These models are fantastic! I just wish the sculptors would do some weapon research first. Speedy's arrow is on the wrong side of the bow. grrr.
Todosi, are you sure? For the hand he is holding the bow - and I acknowledge I don't know the character, so that may be wrong - where the arrow is is correct. I used to do archery and with the bow in my left hand and drawing with my right, the arrow sat on the right side of the bow, above my knuckles. Speedy is holding in his right hand and drawing with his left, but the arrow is correctly on the left side of the bow, still above the knuckles. This method allows a speedier reload from a quiver positioned on the belt where you have to draw the arrow up. A quiver located on the back bypasses the need to go around the arm to nock the arrow and allows the archer more freedom of choice, but if you look at most modern archery competitions, this is how a bow would be drawn.
Obviously, the above is worthless if the character as drawn uses his bow differently.
I am completely sure. And you are misinformed or shooting a style of archery that is not based on western european styles. There are a couple styles that shoot the way you describe including Mongolian and Japanese archery.
English style shooting and nearly all Olympic, Hunting and recreational shooting in the US and Europe have the arrow on the side of the bow riser nearest the back of the hand. That is how it has been done since Ancient Greece at least.
Here is a left handed Olympic competitor for reference:
I am not having a go at you at all, this is just one of my pet peeves in entertainment; a complete lack of understanding of weaponry and how it works. It is my job, I suppose, so I am supposed to be picky about it, but it does drive my girlfriend nuts sometimes.
Yep with traditional bows the arrow gos by the knuckle not only to increase the draw distance slightly but also to stop ot falling off the bow as you bring it to Beare
Is that a specific universe version of Speedy?
I'm trying to work out what's going on with his head. It looks like he's in full superhero gear and then has an orange affro stuffed under a grey/green ball cap....?
Any clue as to price?
Any clue as to release date?
Any clues on new releases to look for?
I hope they unify the aesthetic for the character cards. They should all be the same layout like the police dossier.
The Watchmen, Arkham City & Arkham Origins ones make my eyes bleed.
This game could use a starter box...
Though I'd be even happier if they'd flesh out the range with more large force bundles like the GCPD, Penguin, Joker & Liam Neeson ones.
I don't see those on any retail sites here in the USA tho :-/
Also, there ought to be a large box with uhhhh Batman in it!
Two-Face, Black Mask & Bane would be great too.
Man Bat could be a sick model.
It'll be interesting to see if they elect to do any other comic story arcs as a series of minis. The cartoon range could have potential also
I'd like to see Tim Burton Era models as well.
Just please no Joel Schumacher Nipples!!
This game looks intriguing. However, I'm currently a slave to CB & Infinity.
Batman needs some more polishing & I'm glad to see it's getting it!

I'll ask and see if I can get some info on the printed rulebook. I love the art in the online version, and hope they can bring that along.
Please, yes, a unified card look in the format of the police/Arkham files. The digital files are pretty horrendous. Considering all the new models are coming out with the police file version, I think that should be the expectation now.
The problem with a Batman box is that he basically does not have minions. SWAT/police are the only law minions, and they really fit better with Gordon. Now, a Batman Family box (Batman, Robin, Nightwing) in the style of the Gotham Sirens (Catwoman, Ivy, Harley) or Birds of Prey (Canary, Huntress, Batgirl) would be welcome and likely.
Man Bat, Scarface, Wildcat, (and of course Calendar Man!)---lots of good potential models to be made.
I like the game. Nice low model count. Always mission based. Very thematic/dramatic.
And a nice feature has to do with terrain. While a good amount of terrain is always nice, BTG can be played with almost no terrain. Given that its always considered DARK, and that limits sight, you can play with only a few real obstructions. I plan on using the recent Big Box KS graveyard to host a lot of BTG games.

Oh and their website really needs to be reorganized. Just divide up the gangs into their own page & a page for free agents.
That's how they print on a spine in Spanish-speaking countries. Nice find though. Will be interesting to see if they change that in the English version.
I wanted to try the game and I always like a good looking miniature so I ended up ordering Talia Al Ghul and Nightwing.
Who did they get to cut up their miniatures and cast them because they are awful. Maybe I'm spoiled by Infinity and even WH40K miniatures. The detail was mostly there but the pieces were horrible to put together. Talia's arm looked like they tried to make a notch to insert, but doesn't fit and required a lot of work. Nightwings arms don't even appear to match up with the shoulders properly. No matter how you positioned, there was a lot of gaps that would need to be filled.
Now I'm disappointed that I don't think I'll even try playing it. I'll primer up the miniatures and paint them but I honestly was expecting something a bit more from a 35mm miniature.
Let me see if Badger or Crits has one. Otherwise, let me know what you are looking for. I could probably get one together of a relatively small point total in the next couple weeks.
I love the game, and its nice they are making a 2.0 and a nice book for it. I have every model up til whatever came out after the Ninjas, so its been awhile since played haha. The biggest problem (and its an issue with Infinity) is since its from spain, new stuff takes forever to get here. I had blisters missing parts also, so to finish the Ninjas it took 1 month for a few missing arms.
The system is great as you get to pick how your guys can act each turn, but the waiting long times for anthing new or replacements killed it. Plus there wasnt any cheap good city terrain at the time (not sure if there is now)
I do wonder if this hardback rulebook will make reading and picking up the game easier, I've been interested in this one for some time now, but the current set of rules is well, much like with Infinity, a pain to get into.
How does Knight Models handle new releases? Do they trickle out one at a time? Or come in one big expansion?
Will the new edition rules come with a big release of models for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight release?
I know it won't happen, but I would really like to see a line of models to go with the Frank Miller Batman.
Villains like Bruno (awesome & obscene!), the mutant gang leader, bandaged Two Face & the Joker from the Dark Knight Returns are awesome.
I think everyone would like Batman in his mega exosuit armor.
Carrie Kelley would be a better Robin than the Arkham city one.
Miller's cranky one armed anarchist Green Arrow is great.
The mutant gang & batman cult could make for some great henchmen.
Oh and Ellen Yindel would be an interesting addition to GCPD.
H.B.M.C. wrote: I wish they'd do some rules for their Marvel stuff.
Actually... I wish Knight Models had some uniformity to their releases.
If they did a separate Marvel game perhaps. A game centered specifically on the X-Men, but limit it to that.
Comics are ridiculous enough with their propensity for crossovers.
Batman's domain in comics is fair to work out a game with. If they expand to more of the DC catalogue & beyond it would get too hairy. Many heroes are too powerful.
How could you put a point cost on Superman?
Usually they release them monthly, like infinity. They used to at least. And yea it took just as long to get them, usually a month after release before US people saw them.
It was a long time ago, perhaps on their forums but they said they will do rules for super heroes with a similar system, but with differences obviously. As pointed out, the super heroes cant really have a balanced point cost in batmans game.
They still do releases every month, The rulebook from the looks of it will have a Dec Release, Jan at the latest.
Also They're almost done the first set of marvel rules which going by the batman rules will be released for free for testing.
The group I belong to gets to talk to some of the KM guys, and the talk is the DC and Marvel books "MAY" be compatible with eachother. at the very least they're seeing if it might work.
We suggested assigning power levels to heroes and villains from both rulesets, So for instance, although Superman cant be in the Batman game due to being OP, he might be able to fight Jean Grey or someone of similar stats.
No idea if they've been able to make it all work, but KM tend to be really good at listening to what the community would like to see/ want out of the game.
Some shots of the new book coming out .... still dunno when
I don't think there is anything earth shatteringly new in these sneak peeks. More text devoted to clearly explaining things like funding ($), which I completely misunderstood until now.
Previous rules on funding were a couple sentences. Now it's got a lengthy section.
Not having played the game I can't speak to balance issues, but I would like to see revisions made to unit cards. At the very least they should bring them all in line with the same aesthetic so they're easier to read side to side.

I think with any older stock you'll get the different looking sets of card depending on when it was packaged, but I know with anything new they pack up they've been putting in the newly done cards to keep it all in line from now on. But I agree, with owning a LOT of the line, having all the different looking cards doesn't mesh well for me, but thankfully it's a small flaw.
As for game balance, It's very balanced. with any changes done very very quickly with a living faq they have on their forums. I think the only character with an issue still is Arkham Origins Bane, while pretty good, he doesn't stack up to movie or comic Bane, despite an FAQ'd points decrease. It almost brings him up to speed with the rest, but he does need a minor tweak still.
I can attest that the game is very balanced most of the time. The only issues we ever had was good guys having the batclaw ability and running around the badguys down below and never being able to catch them. Green arrow was amazing at this. Fly building to building, kill their guy with a gun and then its just target practice. The whole "bring more guns" doesent really work as since they are balanced, a machine gun ( while super deadly usually) is about 1 per army. Rest is hand guns.

I agree whole heartedly with everything you said here Bladerunner2019. I would buy all of these characters if Knight Models released them.
I am hanging out for them to complete the DKR range, too.
It's not a huge model count to complete and makes it's own great little self-contained universe.
While not the first thing I would have liked to see them release next, they are very nice models. Obviously KM is running with the popularity of CW's Arrow on this one.
Ra's al Ghul ... I think I'd go with Liam Neeson because we all love that lanky Irish badass-mofo. Also, there's a complete league of shadows box with that version.
Very nice as always. Wondering Ra's stats to compare. I know liams version has the auto crit kill (which I got to work once on batman ^.^ , most epic game time of my life I think) but im curious if this version can heal or come back from the dead.
I hope Nissa is better then Talia. Shes got a bow so thats a step up. Talia stat wise is pretty horrible in the game. Used her many times and each time I regretted it.
Ra's could have regeneration as a rule, just give him a gatorade bottle with Lazarus juice in it, dump it over his head like he just won the super bowl. Problem solved.

Sorry for the poor link. Pretty sure all the "pre-orders" are still without image. There's still plenty of new models that have not been released in the US yet though (Batgirl, Lobo, Black Canary, Huntress, Ras, etc).
Elektra is stupid anyway.
Not a huge fan of Ra's Al Ghul either.
It's nice that they're selling terrain and all, but I'd rather they focus on minis.
Joker Gas is nice. Mebbe that will be a substitute for the Titan canisters since obviously Christian Bale & Liam Neeson never fought over deux ex machina monster juice...
Though Heath Ledger didn't even have Joker venom or gas... Whatever its cool.

Awesome, thanks so much. He looks like he can stand in okay.
Yeah, Senor Massacre painted as Deadpool got me into this line of thinking. Senor Massacre got me into thinking about infinity in the first place!
I was planning on using Deathstroke as a McMurrough stand in or something. Basically, I'm just trying to justify a reason to buy that Deathstroke model. It rules.
Batman Miniature Game hardcover book up for pre-sale at Knight Models. Looks like two versions, one of which is limited edition. Each version comes with an exclusive miniature.
Book looks good. Already leaked new gangs in their released pictures (Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, Mafia, Green Arrow, Mr. Freeze, and Court of Owls). Lots of color and images. Better translations.
I'm REALLY not a fan of two different exclusive minis for the two different books. Have to see how that plays out.
ah yes, the Fall of arvey Dent.
Good ol' Arvey Dent.
how is it so hard to hire a proofreader? I hope those images aren't the pages that were sent to print.
Congratulations on getting the licensing deals; things are looking great. Would you include a link to your website? It's not hard to find, but people can be lazy and it's one less step for them to do. Good luck.
Any of the traditional online shops doing pre-orders? I usually like to go with Warstore or Miniatures Market but neither seem to even acknowledge the book coming out.
First, the pre-orders just started today. I can imagine Knight Models wanting a little time to get the pre-orders direct before offering the sales to storefronts.
Second, the Joker pre-order is going to be Knight Models only. Storefronts will not be getting the limited run (500) Joker book.
Finally, US distributers (like Warstore and MiniatureMarket) are 2 months behind on Knight Model releases. They are just now getting Huntress and Black Mask, who both released in Europe in November.
I will look into the UK storefront and see if anything shows up for pre-orders though.
Thanks all for your kind comments, like some mates said before, we experienced some problems with the initial translation of our first Rulebook of Batman Miniature Game, this time the translation of the entire Rulebook was made for a professional english native translator with several years of experience working for White Dwarf.
I'll try to answer some of the doubts that I read here. We have differents miniatures for the difference Rulebook because the Joker Rulebook will be just a limited edition of 500 units, the Red Hood Joker will not have game rules because of this. Alfred on the other hand is a exclusive miniature for the normal edition of the Rulebook, and will have game rules because is a miniature more easy to achieving and in the future you will be able to get Alfred like an tournament's prize for example. Both miniatures never will be commercialized
Here you can see an sneak preview of some pages from our Rulebook, there you'll see an amazing scenography made for the Knight Model's team. Some of this buildings will be commercialised in the future.
Hope all you test our system, I think it will pleasantly surprise you. Regards from Spain guys, see you on the Gotham Streets!
drazz wrote: I'm REALLY not a fan of two different exclusive minis for the two different books. Have to see how that plays out.
I feel the same way. I want the Batman cover, but would rather have the Red Hood miniature than Alfred. However I doubt I'll be pre-ordering from them anyways until someplace a bit cheaper in cost/shipping sells it in the US.
drazz wrote: Shipping to the US is 8 pounds (about $12). But, if you spend enough (I think its around $100) then the shipping is free.
Honestly, I worry that no US distributers will have a pre-order option. It has not seemed to pick up as a game in the US yet.
According to the cart it is 75 Euro to get free shipping, which is roughly $88 but that gets offset because of tax. In my state we don't have sales tax, so whenever I have to pay tax, even when I'm traveling it is difficult for me to get over that hurdle. LOL! There is a concern for US distributors but there are also other factors other than simply price.
I am however interested in the League of Shadows pack, although I already have 'Talia Al Ghul' so I'll have to figure out what do with her but trying to justify $163 for Rulebook and League Pack is hard. I want to love this game, from what I've heard the rules and game itself are fun which is a plus. It also helps that a couple friends who are huge comics DC fans, we play DC Deckbuilding and the various expansions a lot. The miniatures examples look great painted but I'm not that good with free hand. When I did my initial miniatures review check to see quality of Nightwing and Talia Al Ghul (usually buy a couple miniatures before heavily investing into a new gaming system) I wasn't impressed. I'm used to dealing with Infinity which unfortunately had better detail and were easier to assemble. Now I do understand it is the DC name so I'm ok paying a bit more but the joints didn't line up properly, had to use greenstuff to fill in gaps and join (maybe they were bad casts?). A lot of the painted features you see in the 'samples' aren't actually on the miniature like Nightwings mask, Rhas tattoos and other fine details that requires good free hand skills. Granted I understand about things like tattoos but the mask is an easy feature detail to have. Although honestly no mask was great for me because my wife likes the miniature, so I will probably be able to use it as a proxy in a couple board games.
I'm still feeling it out, maybe I'll go in with a few people and take the plunge if they do. If they are happy, I can deal with the little stuff (although I'm more a Marvel fan). I will say though with Flash, Arrow, etc in the US I am surprised this hasn't been used to try to 'get more people into miniatures'. I have been sharing it and linking to friends that are into board games but huge DC fans, to try to get them into miniatures gaming more and so far the interest has been good.... whether that translates into actual sales is still to be seen though, making it harder to obtain unfortunately hurts that.
It is showing at The Warstore so I may preorder it from there. I ordered a few other miniatures again to do a second review of them, just in case I ended up just with a bad batch.

I imagine it has something to do with a welcoming and positive attitude and a willingness to work with anyone to cover just about any game. Being a douche about a particular company or game system might help draw in members who feel the same way.. but while that fosters a community of sorts, it's not the kind of environment that fosters collaboration outside of their usual circles.

Hmm...yeah, I think it's the subdued groin thrust pose he seems to have, the pose on the other model is so much more.....dynamic I think is the word I'm looking for.
plastictrees wrote: That's a crazily skinny interpretation of the arrow GA. It doesn't look like he has any pecs or shoulders!
That seems to be a style with the Knight Models in this line. The characters are really thin. I think of it as 35mm true scale, where the models are not very comically sculpted. It definitely shows in the legs and weapons, for instance.
Personally, I like the style for this game. But, I see the lack of pecks as being a bit off on this model.
Wife pre ordered the rule book last weekend. Really looking forward to it, both of us are big batman fans and its great to see her getting into more tabletop games (she started WHFB a couple of years back).
Think I will go for movie bane and cronies to start with
What dictates the size of your team? Does batman go solo or can you team up?
Alpharius wrote: Where's the best place for USA based pre-orders?
So far for me it has been miniaturemarket and thewarstore. TheWarStore tends to get products up first and take reorders first. MiniatureMarket tends to get there just a bit slower and the prices are the same across between them both. TheWarStore does not appear to be doing free shipping when you purchase over X Amount but MiniatureMarket still does so for me really depends on if I'm doing a smaller order or not.
Pre-Orders run until the 15th, yes. I don't know the ship date. I will ask around and see.
Terrain is not really that tricky. There are tons of 28-35mm MDF or plasticard stuff out there. Right now I'm seeing a lot of Sarissa stuff (http://www.sarissa-precision.com) being used. There's a lot of discussion about using 0-scale model train pieces. Knight Models themselves make scatter terrain (and might be doing some big pieces soon). Eagle Moss Batmobiles are a subscription service that offers a variety of Batmobiles in the right scale.

Can't wait to see if we get more JLA team mates in there, as well as expanding to other DC forey's.
I sure wouldn't mind seeing The Hitman and Section Eight in there at some point, as well...
I really, really doubt there will be more JLA in-game as a lot of people who play the game really, really dislike the idea of Meta-Superhumans in the game, and KM do listen to their fans over on the FB page.
However we are supposed to be seeing a Superhero game by KM which is meant to have all Superhero's from DC and Marvel in one game
Books are now reported as at Knight Models warehouses. They should begin sending them out this week, and hope to have them sent out by the end of next week.
What that means to delivery dates, especially in US and non-Europe is still unknown.
The first reported delivery of the new book has been made. Its only Spain (the home country of Knight Models) so far, but I will endeavor to keep you informed as the books make their way to other countries.
Automatically Appended Next Post: edit: Oh, and confirmation on RIDDLER gang.
Riddler Gang has a piece of equipment that cancels out an opponent's piece of equipment ($250)
Corrupt police/officials are confirmed. A new trait call "Corrupt" allows a model to hire up to three police for whatever force the "Corrupt" model is a part of. Highly assumed to be for Organized Crime leaders/sidekicks.
Confirmed new starter gang will be Commissioner Leob and Gotham Detectives.
I wouldn't bother to be honest. Tokens are more useful as there isn't much that would go beside the characters in the game. Stuns and Blood damage are all counted on the card itself via tokens, Maybe Poison, knocked down, and burning might work off the top of my head. but again not enough to justify the cube unfortunately.
Having said that I think that product is absolutely genius for other games

I like the game. To be fair, it fits my preferred style though.
I like small, skirmish games, and in Batman Miniatures Game (BMG) it would be difficult to use more than 10 models. Knight Models suggests 300 points as a good game, tournaments are pushing 350. Most bands at those levels use between 5-10 models for that. It can be significantly lower--as few as 2-3.
I like superheroes, but have always liked "street level" (not cosmic-style) heroes. Most of the models for this game are not supers/metas; there's a huge debate about whether or not to include even a TV version of the Flash.
I like pre-planning strategy games. There is definite open resource management in the beginning of each round (like how Warmachine uses focus on their casters).
I like games that are not just brawls. BMG uses a point system to determine winners. Some points are awarded for defeating enemies. But, there are many options to earn points by taking control of specific locations/items in the game.
So, yeah, I think its a good game. But that's because it hits my favorite points in tabletop gaming.
There are issues. The two largest to me are the translation issues (and there are many) and that Knight Models does not yet have good success at distributing into the US (low supplies and significant delays in releases).
There have been no sightings of books in the US that came through direct order from Knight Models. There have been a few in the US in brick and mortar stores. There have even been a few that have come from overseas orders through online storefronts.
I have seen a few US online stores have it for sale. I figured they would be in stock and shipping by now.
Its certainly been a major frustration to watch this delay unfold.

He seems to be prepping to open a US store with direct distribution from Knight Models. Hopefully soon and hopefully with more current releases than can be currently fond in the US.

I ordered directly from Knight Models, mainly because I ended up getting free shipping. I also wanted it sooner than having to wait for US places to get it in stock. Mine arrived on March 23th, which I promptly posted some pictures on Facebook to entice a few of my friends who are huge DC and Batman fans.
Thanks Dark Severance! You are the first US book direct from KM. And that's out of hundreds that are on the Official forums and Facebook page.
Would you mind clarifying if you preordered or not? I ask because I preordered, and I still do not have the book a week after you say you have it. I'm also on the West Coast.
It was all preordered, the books are REALLY staggered. Another person in my city received his book over a week ago now, and we both preordered from KM. it's really random
Some of the BMG books have printing globs that stick the pages together. In the back and forth of trying to get this sorted out and replaced, my partner asked about Felicity and Diggle for use with Arrow.
"We have not forgotten Felicity and Joan [sic]..."

I did pre-order mine. Two of my friends (Seatte, WA and Burbank, CA) also got their order last week but I believe they pre-ordered through Firestorm Games.
It seems rather difficult to find a good selection of models in stock in the US. miniaturemarket.com and thewarstore.com carry them, but are sold out of a lot of the stuff.
US distribution/stock is very much an issue. Atomic games also carries some. Its almost better to order from other (UK) web stores and hope the shipping cost remains low.
Not only are stocks constantly low, but the releases to the US are notoriously behind. Even if you find stock at any of those sites, you will not be able to find releases that are less than 2 months old. For example, none of them have the Joker Titan yet, and that was released over a month ago. Their most current releases are from December, I think.
There is an individual in the US that is attempting to put together a US webstore. I will post here if it comes to fruition.

Yep that is unfortunately the current issue with anything in this line. The game looks good, the miniatures aren't too bad but overall trying to get things timely is very difficult. I believe the game itself could flourish and do really well if this wasn't an issue but because of it, it becomes difficult to get people committed to playing it.
I got my Wolverine, Deathstroke, and Cyclops. I'm waiting on my copy of a rulebook (with Alfred), Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood (Jason), Bane, Captain America and Deadpool. The three I have are fantastic. Very nice sculpts, minimal mold lines to clean. Very impressed. Well worth the $20 price tags.

Where did you buy them from - or did you go directly to KNIGHT?

Bought them from my friend's store. He still has Killer Croc, Scarecrow and some goons on the shelf. It's in Oneonta, NY. He has more set to come in soon, but that's what he could get his hands on for now.
Hey all, I'm thinking of getting into this game. Besides the rulebook, what should I buy first? There really isn't an obvious starter set to grab so I'm looking for suggestions.
Thinking 2 factions to get going. Open on point limits, enough for a good game without going wild.
I'd say if you're a fan of the batman mythos, go with you who like. Don't worry about rules or anything, find starter crew you like and build up from there.
Here's an invaluable asset to help you decide. You can start off with a leader, decide on a point level you'd like to start at, and go from there.
To start off I'd suggest going in at 200 points. it's small enough games to learn, but you have enough options to have some fun with your build.
Keep in mind you can only have 1 Sidekick, 1 Free agent per full 150 pts
If you have any questions in general about any of the characters or any questions of the sort, feel free to PM me so we dont clutter up ther thread since this is news and rumours
@Alpharius... I pre-ordered my book and Alfred from miniature market as well. I haven't heard a peep from them yet and see it is still listed as a pre-order on their site.
Guess I should have waited and spent a little more to get one off ebay.

Two Face and crew going for cheap on Miniature Market, $26 when crews are usually $36. Get that and some cheap heroclix for batman and some sidekicks and a few cops and you are good for a starter.
cincydooley wrote: Does anyone know if anyone is doing laser cut terrain buildings that would fit here?
I know there's the licensed scatter, but I've not been able to find anything that's really "modern city."
Any ideas?
I've always felt that Impudent Mortals terrain would fit the bill. My only qualms is that the buildings aren't utilizing the inside of them. I can understand not making all the floors usable, given the height of them but at least using a couple floors or insides would be great.
Other than that, really anything industrial, more so than modern, works better. When you start mixing in some of the licensed scatter, you can modify most scifi buildings with paint scheme that makes anything feel like Batman. Some of the Microart stuff for Wolsung can be converted like the century flats and brick buildings.

Dammit, you're absolutely right.
Anyone want to let me hop on their pledge? Maybe I can send the guy a message.
just a bit of a warning, Wolsung is a tad small for BMG, not by much (I still use it and I think it looks great) Just figured I'd put the info out there in case people need it to be perfectly to scale.
Sarissa Precision works great with their Cityblock terrain, Impudent Mortal just did a KS with modern terrain built with Batman in mind as well.
And if you want Batmobiles in the proper scale Eaglemoss does a range of 1:43 Batmobiles which is exactly to scale with BMG
Sarissa makes some nice products, though I will say that I have been consistently underwhelmed by the price/quality proposition of Sarissa buildings as compared to other laser cut MDF terrain products on the market.
Sarissa products, to me, tend to be on the delicate side, and the lines are a little...precise, which I suppose may be what Sarrisa is going for.
What I mean is that Sarissa's engraving tends to be narrow, shallow, and very angular. The surface texture of the buildings I have didn't respond particularly well to dry brushing and washes, and the fiber board is pretty light weight. A Sarissa building takes a lot of work to look 'lived in', and the composition is often cold and very technical. Sarissa's products also tend to be a bit spendy for single layer MDF terrain with no interior details.
In terms of design, the Sarissa products I have are designed well, but not as well as those of some of their competitors, such as 4Ground. Kits go together reasonably well and the kits include decent instructions. That said, construction can often be a little fiddly and completed buildings feel like they won't take a drop test very well.
4Ground's products are hands down the best in terms of laser cut MDF. The. Best. There are some kits in the WWII range that might be useful, although not terribly apropos for Gotham. 4Ground excels in the design of its products, which are not merely pre-painted, but more importantly are double walled with interior detailing, functional elements (such as working doors), and a three dimensionality that you don't often see in laser cut MDF. Just great products all around.
Game Craft buildings, some of which would work for Gotham, are decently designed and comparatively cheap. Good for table-filling volume.
The Wolsung products look pretty darn awesome, and I have a Shatytown set, but I haven't opened it up yet, so I can't comment too far on quality. The fiberboard looks good and the pieces seem to have nice character. Don't know how well they go together or how well they hold up through gameplay.
Nice! Is it going to be in the same sort of style as the ones you did in your KS? somewhat simplistic but affordable? or are you planning on going a bit more detailed?
erratyk wrote: Nice! Is it going to be in the same sort of style as the ones you did in your KS? somewhat simplistic but affordable? or are you planning on going a bit more detailed?
We're learning how to add detail without adding cost. Most likely it'll be of the budget variety, but we don't have a problem doing more expensive showcase pieces. Our steamboat, for example. The guy who did that can work miracles, I swear.
Personally, I really want to make up one of the predator encounters from the Arkham games on the tabletop. I'm leaning towards the room in City where you get Freeze's armor.
I got an order from the KS (hex and graveyard). I'm loving your stuff, especially for the money, but really in general.
If you are implying that you will be doing a full interior set for the Batman game, I think you're in for a lot of business.
Not implying. I'm doing conceptional work for it at the moment, but there are a lit of higher priorities right now. General Batman stuff is priority at the moment. Also, I'm not the lead designer for terrain. Don't hold your breath for the interior table, but keep your eyes peeled for the exterior stuff.
Yep, that's a tournament legal crew, I can actually go smaller if I wanted as well, It's a skirmish game so you can go swarmy with more henchmen, or more focused with more expensive guys.
It's very objective based though, so you can really screw yourself if you spread yourself too thinly.
Least amount of minis I can do for 350 points (Standard Tournament size) is 3 models, max is probably 12-15ish if I stuck with super cheap guys
Gang size in BMG tends to be 10 and under, even at tournament level 350 points. (I am fully convinced that 350 is the tourney number because then a player can use the full Watchmen list, which is only 5 models.)
"Character-driven" crews (like Batman, Green Arrow, Watchmen, and maybe Penguin) tend to have around 5-6. Henchmen-focused crews (like Police, Two-Face, and especially Joker) can get to 10+ models.
Remembering the full rules expect the game to be about taking and holding tokens for long periods of the game. Therefore, more bodies tend to do better, though the first official BMG tourney was won by a Watchmen crew a couple months ago.
Here's what I just finished for my first complete tournament level gang (its not exactly what I want, but I cannot get all the models released yet):
Monders-
there are currently 6 different Batman models, each with their own rules. The one I have shown is the 1960's Adam West Batman; weakest of the options, but also the cheapest (75 points). On the other end, there is the Batpod; fastest model in the game, biggest gun in the game; tied for most points in the game (150).
cincy-
I have not had any issue with the bases. There are few moments when it would change anything--charges, number of models in contact, maybe distance for light or shooting. If there's a discrepancy, I give preference to my opponent.
I bought the Batman rulebook on a whim at a local-ish store Saturday night, the only one they had left (surprisingly I also got Alfred with it!). I haven't paid too much attention to the rules yet but I think the book is really nice. I wasn't really too interested in the BMG before but flipping through the book and looking at the models is making me change my mind. The fact that you don't need many models to play is great, too.
What I really like are those huge buildings on page 6, especially the reflective "windows" on the brown building. I'm assuming they're scratch-built, but I'd love to see a company like 4Ground start putting out buildings like that. Though I hate to think how expensive they'd be.

We've for some stuff in the works. I'd like to get those skyscrapers to $50. We've got a 24 inch steamboat we managed to get down to $65.
