mine is a tie between the katana for its advanced steel blade and its massive cutting power.-
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Katana? Pfshwah. Would have been largely useless against Steel Armour.

Also, did you know, the crafters of the finest Steel were not in fact the Japanese, but the Vikings. So much so, that the quality of their steel was not seen again until...now! Seriously, carbon content wasn't matched until the past 50 or so years. Scary huh?

But yeah, giimme a spear anyday. And a big shield.

I've been running searches since you mentioned it and haven't seen it mentioned once on any weapon sites. I have a feeling it's a name the internet has invented for something that they don't know is something else.

There IS however a Spear sword, which is a spear blade remounted to a sword handle.

Edit: finally found a mention. It's essentially a long-handled sword or a short-handled spear. It's mentioned as a longer version of the Spear sword. Description makes it the same length or slightly longer than a longsword.

There are at least two things wrong with this statement. The vast majority of samurai armor would be closer to iron scale mail, not steel plate.

Yep. When the Japanese tested metal plate, they found it too restrictive.

Iron perhaps, but not steel.

Katana is a much overrated weapon, suited to a specific type of fighting. European weapons might have been less elegant, but the were far more ubiquitous.

And they tended to be less elegant as a sacrifice to being more functional in combat.

Very few Samurai actually used their Katana in combat, too, favoring spears, bows, and other longer reach weapons. It's something you tend to find out when you read books and not the internet or watch movies/TV.

they were isolated,so they didnt fight the same enemy. ive held a katana.just like the way it feels. and its a strong weapon for a blade. as for armor, both is what i hear sometimes, but either would be good. also mixed in under that is wood and leather.
