From Stickmonkey of Warseer:
Next incarnation will see expanded use of Chaplains. Rumor is they may be able to be taken in groups and assigned to lead troops, like Wolf Guard or Sanguinary Priests. If solo they stay elite slot, if Interrogator they are hq.Rumor of plasma cannon sponsons on Dark Angels tanks. And a special Plasma main gun predator or vindicator...
Take with your daily dosis of sodium chloride. Interesting to see if it pans out. No word on if/when a Codex might be coming.
And of course we already have the close-to-fact rumour that Dark Angels are included in the 6th edition starter kit.

I like the Chaplain idea but kinda 'meh' about another tank varient.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

You mean Sternguard and such? But seriously, I believe DA have always had 2-3 times as many Chaplains as other chapters. And they could turn out to be called something else, just perform a similiar function to Chaplains. I wouldn't be surprised if a new Dark Angels codex has more Chaplain related units, like Chaplain Dreadnought or something.

I've always believed that Dark Angels would suit a character dread arn't they supposed to have the oldest surviving dread who served the lion ? I maybe wrong thought I read that somewhere.
I love the Idea of chaplins being assigned out like wolf guard It would give a bit of character to the green guys and I might even use them.

It sounds good to me. I am not a Dark Angels player, but I am 40k fan. So, I like to see GW share the codex love with every faction.
A Chaplain like Dreadnought Special Character sounds like a winner to me.

IG Psyker General is a bit facepalm, but a unit of sanctioned psykers guarded by people pointing guns at them is perfectly alright

Can I ask why the Primaris is a facepalm? He was in the 2nd ed IG Codex, even if he couldn't lead a force by himself.

Don't have codex here at work, but I thought BA chaplains already worked this way? Though maybe the difference is that they would be able to be actually deployed as a unit?

Like the Chaplains idea, also fits their paranoia and self scrunity. The fact it sorta matches them off against their old adversaries and their Wolf Guard makes it all the sweeter. More plasma wouldn't surprise me, and would allow for a new Tank kit themed around Dark Angels to give you icons and the like for the vehicles through-out the range. Obviously taking with salt as any rumour, but I like these ideas if they turn out accurate.

Fluff wise i get the chaplains but in terms of game mechanics what good would giving everyone re rolls on the charge be if the DA codex is going to be a more shooty type? i agree with the others that have suggested it may actually be a chapain type with a different name. whilst i quite like the idea of chaplains, id prefer a character that did something like gave fearless and relentless to a unit. that would fit better imo

Why? Because they hate psykers?
Chaplains have been a big part of the Dark Angels since before the Black Templars got their own book.
I could very easily see them adding Interrogator-Chaplains as a squad upgrade choice, with the Litanies of Hatred also applying to ranged attacks.

Only the deathwing have specifically more chaplains than normal, correct? I'd accept the change there. I like the sound of the plasma pred. The predator is in need of a bit of variation outside of it's current (boring) role. The Baal pred is neat and has a unique battlefield role. If the DA book doesn't give preds the ability to be taken in squadrons than it needs something else to make them worth the slot/kp they take up.

I'm going with the above. Chances are they aren't really chaplains but just veterans to make sure the lowly companies aren't privy to information regarding the hunt for the fallen and such.
I could see a 0-1 'inner council' type unit being made and allowed to be broken apart to lead squads for example. Would be nice if it was an elite version of terminators, bikers, or vets that could be broken up though.
