Kan, he was talking about a possible name for the Plasma-pred, like the BAAL Predator.
The Baal Predator is named such because the STC was discovered there, Platuan.
Let the Blood Angels keep their silly planet named Predator. We can do oh so much better for the Dark Angels!
ShumaGorath wrote:Only the deathwing have specifically more chaplains than normal, correct? I'd accept the change there.
Haven't seen anything specific to that, but if the Codex author chooses to use "Fallen Angels" or "Descent of Angels" as a basis for the Chaplain thing--the squads elected an individual whom they considered "worthy" to serve as a kind of faux-Chaplain.

Why even bother taking the single worst SM HQ choice in the codex.
You pay 100p for pure crap so having them taken even more then normal SM is imo a nerf.

A cheaper sanguine priest like unit that can give litanies of hate and fearless to numerous squads in the army could be useful. Not nearly as useful and FNP and FC in a giant ridiculous bubble, but than nothing is.

The idea of plasma cannon preds was used in a WIP fan made DoW dark angles mod. So to say the least the idea of plasma preds and the option of plasma sponsons is not a new idea. Can't shake the feeling of this being a wish-list.
edit:

considering the new names space wolves and Blood Angles got for their gear? I expect them to be called "Angle Plasma Cannons" or "Dark Predators".

Well, it could be possible that the Chaplains give their unit Preferred Enemy, and 6th Ed. rumors (and the Necron codex) point to PE allowing shooting re-rolls too.

Is there any basis for the idea that the Dark Angels would be a more shooty based space marine army? I mean I'm cool with that given there isn't really another shooty marine force out there. But I hope they don't lose the option to take things like assault marines for it. And not to mention how bad shooty terminators are.

Yeah...this is what I wanted in my BT army. Fail GW. Give the darkies their plasma weapons, but don't take my large quantities of Chaplains from me! Every Crusader squad should have a Chappy, and if you give it to the DAs, we'll look like thieves. Grrrr...

On a side note, part of me hopes HQ Interrigator chaplains will be slightly better than typical 'Marine' Chaplains due to their 'extremely dedicated' service to the chapter. Gaining a third wound and attack back. Not going to be devestated if they don't, but it'd be another nice way of marking them out against rival Marine forces.

Could be WS4 BS4 W1 Chaplains outfitted with Crozius and Rozarius. Free to add - Fearless and Litanies would make this a great add for a close combat unit - particularly Deathwing.
My hope still is that they will do something to make Ravenwing a viable force. With SM codex, a Ravenwing force is stupid. HAVE to take Sammiel who is overpriced and cannot buff any squad.

Aye, the Ravenwing box is a heck of a buy as well. Hell if I had solid confirmation that Dark Angels codex was incoming, and the 6th Edition box where Dark Angels as well, I'd already be picking at least one of those up.

Mortis Pattern Plasma Dreads? Plus ability to have a litanies SGT/Chap so I can re-roll those TH misses? Yes, I'd take that. DA are known to use Plasma all the time, so maybe we can re-roll that "gets hot" rule?

Honestly, I'd be happy with any of the non-Rifleman Mortis options making the leap to the DA book.
Also, maybe I need more plasma for my DAs, as there seems to still be this belief that that's our thing, despite it never being mentioned in the fluff or prevalent in the artwork more than other chapters.

Doesn't Plasma vaporise the target pretty much? Would make sense to not leave a trace, when dealing with Fallen Angels.

Since they are the first legion they got the pick of the armory, thus the normally more "Rare" items [plasma weapons, terminator armor, ect.] are more plentiful.
That is why for a while they were the only Space Marines who could field an entire army of terminators. Now with then SW and GK both able to have terminator troops and with plasma weapons not being super common for any other chapter (either fluff or gameplay wise) I think that the emphasis on Plasma or other more "arcane" shooting weapons would allow the chapter to play differently than any other SM-ish codex out there.

I think it is more for the fact that DA are the first legion and back in the day the imperium used more plasma rather than melta technology, then over the millennia have been slowly moving toward the safer melta tech and a lot of the plans for the plasma technology has been lost and so only the older techmarines know how to best keep some of the more advanced plasma technology. However a lot of this knowledge is still in the DA chapter they being the first legion and all. Just a guess at what the fluff is likely/may be.

I swear to God, if we don't get Mortis dreads I will be furious.
The fact that they were not in the Dark Angels Codex in the first place was ridiculous. They already existed in Imperial Armour Volume II: Space Marines and the Inquisition. They were a Dark Angels and their Successor Chapters only item.
Yet, none were given.
Just blargh.

The Deathwatch books and other fluff since the DA Codex support the Dark Angels still being about overwhelming firepower. It'd be an obvious inclusion to have the Mortis Dreadnought because it's essentially the perfect Dark Angels dread for that purpose.

These have nothing to do with the situation at hand.
Fact of the matter is, per IA2 the Mortis pattern Dreadnought was a Dark Angels invention which was only found-- rarely at that-- in the hands of the Dark Angels and their Successors.
Fast forward to the Space Marines Codex, and all of a sudden it's a Codex option fielded in crazy numbers by everyone except for the Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Blood Angels, and Black Templars.
