Which of the non-Human races are the most 'Human', in your opinion. This includes appearance and attitude. Personally, I'm going to have to go with Eldar, who, despite their psychic abilities, height, and pointy features, are the closest in appearance among the xenos to Humans. We even think alike: who else in the galaxy can match the Eldar's disdain but Mankind's pride?

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Eldar. I mean, they're the only logical choice imo.

All the races are humanoids, which mean they have a human shape, but Orks are fungi, tau are kind of really alien and Necrons are machines without souls.

I'd rather not raise a feth-storm by putting squats as an option. But even if they were still valid, they're not really an option, since they were a Human sub-species to begin with.

Of the various races within Warhammer 40k the Eldar are the closest to humans both in thought and physical appearance. While constituted of different physical substance and separated mentally by a sea of extremes the Eldar (of the Craftworld variety) share many common liberal values that we find today and historically. You can almost liken the Craftworlds to a thematic blend of the ancient Greek city-states and later Constantinople and its territories (the later Roman Empire; or Byzantine Empire if you prefer). The Eldar value life, artistic expression, individualism, merit, and place a heavy emphasis on equality (with each other). These ideals are simply not seen very often because we almost never see the Eldar outside of the frame of war; with a few exceptions like Gave Thorpe’s “Path” series. These ideas and concepts are also very human; often being the ones we hold most dear.

The Dark Kin, on the other hand, are a different matter entirely and a whole debate could be held on the subject.

They don't have a nose. They have blue skin. They only have four fingers, including the thumb. They have blue blood. They're controlled through pheromones. How can they be closer to Humans than Eldar? Sure Eldar have advanced psychic abilities, but the Emperor planned to give that to Humans too once He had conquered the Webway. Yes, Humans and Eldar are also affected by pheromones, but not to the point that they lose their free will to it. Humans and Eldar look virtually the same - once you get past the Eldar's height and elfin features, they are Human.

That's all just superficial, appearance and whatnot doesn't make a difference. Given skin tone and fingers and such as differences, they're remarkably similar (and yes, we too are controlled through pheromones, that's why people are able to make money by selling perfume). Strip away all the unnecessary parts and you wind up with an individual that is physically weak and has to use its intellect to overcome its shortcomings. Its the underlying structure of society, the way they think and where these phylosiphies came from.

Eldar are the "Higher" thought part of humanity, the restraint, creativity, arrogance, intelligence.

Orks are the bestial nature of humanity, savagery, violence, bad humour, tribal etc.

Both look like certain humans (eldar thin nimble people, orks brutish and big)

Necrons and Tau? Hard to place.

So currently I'm voting Orks,

Never seen a Human with no nose and blue skin before. If there were, they'd be lynched or placed in a research facility to be dissected and used for experiments. And we don't get mind-controlled by pheromones. It influences us, but not to the point we lose our minds over it. As for your point about similar thinking, Eldar think like that too, but actually look Human. Not to mention in 40k both Humans and Eldar are custom jobs by the Old Ones. So, no, Eldar are still closer to Humans than any other species in 40k, except for the Orks and the Jokaero, who are also Old One custom jobs.

I don't get this. You start a poll and then state your opinoin in the OP (not normal)... you then advocatre a choice... are you interested in what people think or interested in them agreeing with you.

Typically when starting a poll, you remain neutral, but you always push a choice in your polls (just not how its supposed to be).

I'm actually just really curious why people think Tau are closer to Humans than Eldar. I hate an unsatisfied curiosity. My friends in college actually have an unspoken rule not to stir up my curiosity too much - they say I'm 'persistent'.

Random only for the ignorant and the weak-minded; scholars like Thousand Sons and Blood Ravens have seen through their schemes more than once. Not to mention that just as Humans can't truly understand Eldar, the reverse is also true - simply because Humans can afford to let their emotions run amok much more easily and more often than Eldar (except the Dark Eldar - only daemons are worse).

Just because they look human doesn't make them human, they are as far removed from humanity as the Orks or the Tyranid. Whether or not the Thousand Sons or Blood Ravens have bettered the Eldar isn't the issue.

I vote Jokaero.

@OP - Why bother asking if you are so intent that anyone who doesn't think the answer is Eldar is wrong?

They are the most similar in appearence, obviously, but that's not what you asked. The Eldar psyche and culture is probably (except the Nid's) the most alien in 40k.

I didn't say that. I was only asking why Tau? If I asked that, I'd be complaining why people voted Orks or Necrons - although those two are still closer to Humans than Tau.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

They are the most similar in appearence, obviously, but that's not what you asked. The Eldar psyche and culture probably (apart from Nid's) the most alien in 40k.

I didn't say that. I was only asking why Tau? If I asked that, I'd be complaining why people voted Orks or Necrons - although those two are still closer to Humans than Tau.

Why even complain? You complain because someone doesn't share the same opinion as you.

Ok so here's a reason why for not Orks or Necrons. Orks - because they are grown from spores and Necrons because they are made of metal, I've already provided a reason for Eldar.

Therefore Tau are the most human Xenos, but not as human as Jokearo
