Come on guys, conquer your fears... let's count our unfinished plastic, resin, metal, and PVC! You know you want to... Here's my current count, might have missed some:


*Forces of the Imperium 120 - Mostly Space Marines, including lots of infantry, a couple of vehicles, Space Hulk Terminators, an entire BaC box, plus a box of Skitarii and 15 Tempestus Scions. All grey plastic except a couple of primed squads. Most of it unbuilt actually.

*Eldar 129 - So much Eldar… my Footdar army consisting of Storm Guardians and Aspect Warriors (all types except Dark Reapers), The Avatar, War Walkers, Vypers, Vaul's Wrath, a Wave Serpent etc. Some more tanks I don't currently use along with 20+ normal Guardians, Wraithguard and bits and bobs. About half of this is partially painted (basecoat and wash basically). Also a couple of Harlequin vehicles I got cheap.

*Necromunda 88 - Escher, Delaque, Cawdor, Enforcers (third-party) and some Inquisimunda stuff. A few Escher partially painted, the rest primed at best.

*Chaos 114 - A huge fantasy Chaos army, mostly oldhammer stuff. Warriors, Beastmen, Chaos Dwarves in a nice mix. All grey plastic/metal.

*Lord of the Rings 104 - Elves, Goblins and Isengard Orcs, plus a few trolls and the Fellowship. All grey plastic.

*Other 77 - Enforcers, Plague and Marauders for Deadzone, Space Hulk Genestealers and some random stuff. All grey plastic/PVC (yuk!).

TOTAL 632


Oh, and I have a big Dropfleet Commander pledge coming, as well as an Imperial Knight...

I plead the 5th

Four ghost arks, two monoliths, an obelisk, a stalker, three night scythes. (11 vehicles)

Five parerotians, five lychguad, five crypteks, two lords, an overlord, 50 warriors, 15 immortals, 15 death marks, 10 tomb blades, 12 wraiths, 36 scarab bases, two c'tan, 10 destroyers, three heavy destroyers. (158 models)

15 ratskins, about 50 orcs for gorkamorka, 3 trukks, 3 trakks, 60 or so blood angel terminators... oh my, the list is seemingly endless...

Not to mention about 250 dwarves...

I almost have enough unpainted stock to open my own store...

And yet more stuff is due in a few days.... So...learning, not my strong suit. I am closing in on finishing three units though! that have been on the table for about four months now...

Basically all my High elves as I am redoing the entire army... so roughly around 400 miniatures.

I have no idea how many unpainted miniatures I have. I do know that I have 0 completely finished and based tho.

I do have some LOTR stuff that was technically complete but to a poor quality from when I started painting and put it on too thick so I need to redo them.

Normally this would depress me but I am making progress slowly through the KoW, GoA, Malifaux, Infinity and AoS

AoS - 'Horde of Skeletons' box - assembled, based and primed for a store tale of painters challenge.

Malifaux - various - seamus box (unmade), cross roads 7,
primed and based; nicodem box, molly box, Leviticus box, mech rider, desolation engine, mc mourning box
Part painted: lucius crew

Kings of War - Undead - 30 knights, 4 characters, 10 mummies, 20 revenants left - all assembled, primed and base coated but need detailing and finishing.

Infinity - too much in various states of painting/non painting to even record. Haqq, Nomads, Yu Jing

Gates of Antares - Concord - 45 dudes, 8 drones - assembled, based and primed

40k - Salamander Space Marines - easily 80 dudesmen in various stages of stripped-ness, tanks etc

40k - Steel Legion - 100 50% painted dudesmen, about 12 tanks, various characters

Misc. random stuff - reaper, old warhammer, old 40k etc

Although you said repainting so there at least was paint on yours at some point so youre still miles ahead of me.

Since I have 3x 15mm ancients armies still in the box, I'm at about 600 already.

Probably 200 15mm WW2, 200 15mm WW1, 100 fantasy dwarfs, 100 misc VSF, and a handful of sci-fi.

So I'm probably around the 1200 mark. At least. And that's if you don't count the board-game based stuff.

5 Grey Knight Terminators, Kaldor Draigo, 2 Terminator Librarians (one recently stripped), a deathwatch libby, a Deathwatch Patriarch, 5 Cat Termies, a Cat Termie Captain, 12 Mk4 bolter scrubs, Calgar's honour guard (recently stripped) a metal Tyrant Guard (ebay), a metalnbroodlord (Stripped) and soon to add The Imperial Space Marine 2016.

On my trade shelf I have 20 unassembled Dreamforge sci-fi troopers. Everything else is painted.

Less than 100, but more than 50.

Do my Reaper Bones I and II Kickstarter minis count? You get the box all at once and it's a lot of stuff!

I decided to make them less "vanilla" so that's why I stripped them down. It was really hard to literally throw all that time down the drain, but hey it doubled as painting experience!

I'd better count my painted miniatures. I have to count the unpainted, I will need several days

Currently, I am very slowly working through my huge pile of LotR miniatures that I collected over the years. Most of those are unpainted, but some were painted really badly and need to be redone. Ugh, paint stripping is so much work...

It is too the point where I decided I only paint my immediate model I know I will use.

I don't want to count. I am going to buy a box of Empire archers and I really don't want to know how far behind I am!

My paintng table has about 50 WIPS

and there are many, many totally untouched elsewhere in the house

As of now I have some two hunderd or so minatures awating paint. They are all for the Pike & Shot so they are awating assembely and paint. Starting a new army is so much more easy when the boxes comes with 40 miniatures in them.

I dread to think, in the high 1000's I should think and that is without word of exaggeration. A sad indictment on both my lack of hobby time and lack of painting motivation.

I've been so much happier since I came to the decision that I just won't paint my minis. No expectation. No shame. No hobby time spent on tedium.

That said, I still paint Bones minis with my family, and plan to drybrush the DFC spaceships that lend themselves to the technique.

Whenever I'm asked this question, I count anything I pledged as an add-on, but not the basic box. My thought being, I bought the box as a resource for future games, not for a specific purpose.

with as long as ive been in the hobby and as many games as I play this quote speaks for me

I've got way too many, including many Dark Angels Space Marines, Tau, and Chaos Space Marines, plus plenty of Khorne Daemons (including a Bloodthirster). Plus I've got two Assassins who are in the WIP stage. I've got a unit of Tau Fire Warriors and two Dark Angels flyers still on sprues. And that's just my 40k stuff. I've got plenty of LOTR stuff that's unpainted as well. I just don't think I can count all the unpainted minis; my brain would probably shut itself off before I got halfway through...
