What's worse? People raising complaints (legitimate or otherwise) about the new models, or those raging about the people raging about the models? Don't answer that though Therion, because it's rhetorical (and obvious).

So for the TA and PAGKs, any chance someone can get the storm bolters on the halberds and swords? Like the classic style?
It might help make their wrists look less ridiculous.

I say just cut the clips for the PAGK Storm Bolters in half. That should work.
Thank Draigo that they're separate bitz, hey?

Dreadknight. Its like, a Greyknight made sweet love to a Wraithlord and a Tau battle suit then the children of those 2 had a baby together then that baby got made sweet love to by a greyknight then this would be the creation. After a long time of cleansing and purifying.

That seems pretty easily doable, at least for the terminators where the storm bolter is separate. Just leave it off and cut down a normal bolter for the halberd.

Does anyone else wish they release a Paladin/Ghost Knight plastic set in another wave?
(I know they won't but still; i also find it hard to tell what is a paladin part vs regular). Grey knights are already ornate; i figure paladins should be like glowing; more like a D&D Paladin or Cleric @ 20-30th level hehe
Maybe armour that has scripture ALL over it or something?

Yep, it just doesn't look anything like the aesthetic of the imperium as seen before. If I didn't know better, I would think someone fielding this had converted it from another game system. It doesn't seem identify with 40K to me anyway. It just looks like they cooked up a model and crammed it into the army primarily as an excuse to have a kewl looking figure to sell and putting other considerations like aesthetics and fluff to one side meaning it sticks out like a sore thumb looking odd.
The other Grey Knight stuff is ok, but hellish expensive. Non-vanilla Plastic Marines are basically £4 a pop now; Grey Knights, Sanguinary Guard, Death Company, etc. Plastic Terminators are nearly £6 each.

The old Bolter-Halberd things were quite cool (my Terminator Inquisitor has one), but as Stargate proved such a weapon is useless in real combat. Or find alternate magazines - from spare Bolters, even spare Storm Bolters. Most things will be smaller than those jumbo-banana clips, so it shouldn't be hard.

I liked the old bolter-halberds, regardless of how inefficient the design is. Hell, efficiency is never a concern in 40k, if we're honest, especially not for Grey Knights.
The more I look at the Derpknight, the more I'm OK with it. Still gonna see how it looks sans babymarine though.

I like that much better. The long legs on a Dreadnought just looks off.
That's amusing. Seriously, ROFL. If GW ever released something as slowed as the 'Ork Dreadknight' or the no-legs Dreadknight posted in this thread I would just drop dead in disbelief. The general quality of models is doing nothing else than going up release after release, but if there's really people out there who can keep a straight face and claim the "couldn't take one step without falling" Dreadnought or "the Space Marine has to be the size of a halfling if he can actually fit inside that power/terminator armour" aesthetics are somehow awesome and that the no-leg Dreadknight variant is better than the official model, I finally understand why there's so much hate on perfectly good or even great models. I wonder how many of those people actually like Orks, which in essence depict malformed retards who have a massively oversized head sprouting out of their chest, a severe skin disorder, atrophied legs, and a speech impediment and who take steroids all day long.

Hot damn, and here I thought the dreadknight was made up and not real as well. Now that I know its for real then I can finally understand everything said and criticized about it is fully relevant.
lol
Now I also realized what has been bogging me so much with all the new minis, the text ornaments everywhere being cheesy english one-liners like "doom" and "faith" etc.
How hard would it be to use latin things instead for a bit of an archaic and 40k-ish gothic feeling.
Instead all I see when I look at the new terminators are guys wearing cheesy death/doom/nemesis/fist/faith - suits.
Damn that´s going to be hard to over come.

Not liking any of the new models unfortunately.
PAGKs have huge helmets/ugly heads and tiny thighs. The teleport antennas also look all shades of stupid.
GK Termies suffer from the same huge helmets and oversized magazines.
Draigo looks like his feet are pointing inwards and his face goes "Duh...". Are those baby skulls on his shield?!
The Dreadknight. Nice model but it just doesn't feel in sync with the established universe.
I really wanted to like them too...

All in all the overall release is a bit meh to me. I just cant get passed the whole "another marine based army" albeit with some tricked out rules and a crazy bipedal monstrosity.
From what people are saying they will be able to have several viable builds which a good thing but its more of the same I feel, GW are falling badly into a set routine with marine releases: marines and then add some tricks, thinking outside the box a little more surely wouldnt hurt.

I wonder if I'll like the Dreadknight more if I assemble the legs retrograde, like bird legs or those on the Madcat or Catapult Battlemech, as opposed to the current simian design.
Looking at the sprue, it should be possible to simply turn the thigh and shin bits around backwards, and armor should cover up any inconsistencies.
That'd drop the overall profile quite a bit, and cut down some on the spindly aesthetic.
It would also open up the front of the mech more, allowing easier modification of the cockpit area to cover over the 'baby carrier' look.
Thots?

It comes with one Terminator sprue and one Dreadknight sprue plus the Codex.
As I posted yesterday:
Black Box already arrived today in at least one of my local GW stores. I had a good look at the Terminator and Dreadknight sprues and the Codex today as well at my local GW store. All very impressive. The Codex is full of cool new stuff and the fine detail, especially the engraved text on the plastic models is nothing short of amazing. Really need to see the stuff up close to appreciate it.

This is the Black Box complete with Grey Knight Terminators, Dreadknight and Codex. They'll be in your local Hobby Centre by the weekend so make sure you're there to drool over them (bring your own tissues). In all seriousness, you really should check out the Codex to see just how many variations there are for this army.

Hey guys, quick question for anyone who's gotten a look at the new codex.
Can the new PAGK/TAGK take drop pods?
Edit: Can anyone also inform me of the squad sizes for the PAGK? 33 bucks for 5 marines may seems like a lot, but if their squad size only goes up to 5 then I'd be willing to pass over the price.
If so, that settles it. I've got a Vanilla space marine force with a Boltgun/Mechrite red color scheme. All I would need is some troops and I'm good to go.

The Jennifer Square GW got their Black Box yesterday, but I would suspect that by today Pasadena GW, Arundel Mills GW, Columbia, Olney, White Marsh GW, etc. probably all will have their Black Boxes if they didn't already get it yesterday. infinite_array wrote:Hey guys, quick question for anyone who's gotten a look at the new codex. The Dedicated Transport page includes only: Razorback, Rhino, Chimera. Land Raiders and Stormravens always take up a Force Org. slot, they may never be taken as Dedicated Transports. I don't recall seeing Drop Pods anywhere in there. My biggest complaint about the new Codex other than the usual binding quality issues that started with the Dark Elf book when GW first switched to their current binder in China is that there's too much stuff crammed into Heavy Support, making it difficult for those of us who collect a variety of stuff because it looks cool to squeeze a lot of it into a standard game. Like the Eldar Codex, Grey Knights Heavy Support has a lot of cool toys, far too many for standard Force Org.
