Been using the latest pots since they came out and I've had no problems with drying out.
The pots have a pretty damn good seal if you click them down all the way.

But then I also use my paints rather than letting them sit for 3 years....

No one knowz how to close the GW pots we only have a degree in vallejos, andrea, reaper etc we all bow to your uber expertise.
Also everyone must use GW in the first month they buy them because you know the expiry date on GW paints is our fault!

Yea one of the reasons i moved to Vallejo was the GW paints drying up, it was not so bad with the colours i regularly used, but i bought a paint set, didnt use half and after a while they were gloopy or solid.
I would never buy a large paintset from GW ever again because of this, especially with more colours as thats more i wont be using all the time. Having more colours available must be good thing though, surely.

I actually want to see the metallics. I find them a little too thick to be applied without thinning, in which case they don't cover well.

Yep, i have never really liked the GW metallics, and they will have to go a long way to match up to Vallejos liquid gold range nowadays.

The Golds are the obes I am refering to. The silver range is supreme.

I feel Shining Gold is too chunky and needs thinning.
Burnished.is too thin and needs thickened.

I got to use them yesterday (no metallics).

There are a few issues:
1: On the whole the foundation paints are not matches for the old foundations (the yellow is pretty close). The red one is definitely brighter and less pastel than mechrite red (annoying as mechrite is a fantastic replacer of red gore for undercoating).

2: The range giude pamphlet has an example of how to paint an ultramarine (generic blue space marine) on the back, and it is the first time I've ever seen the main layering done after a drybrush.

3: The texture paints are thick paint with a sand in them to save 8 year olds gluing sand on their base and then painting it. Colours are limited, and the effect in every case I saw at the store was pathetic.. Still not passable after adding a 2nd layer to an already dry one.

4: We had no metallics to try out which was disappointing, as the ubiquitous nature of boltgun metal meant everyone is desperate for a match.

5: 3 types of white, all the same colour? Foundation and layering yes, 3 = no.

6: The old paints were selling like crazy. Fortunately I'd had 2 devlan mud put aside as they sold out the rest of the stock the day before (over 10 pots at a small store in 1 weekday is a massive effort). Most of the current range was running low.

Good thing I picked a pot up yesterday lol. New I was doing something right!

I have only used 4 basecoats foundation paints. Of the 3 Dheneb Stone was pitifully thin and had aweful coverahe. I need 2 coats over a simple matt black priming.

I have been using dry paints for years. The Snakebite Leather from first paint set is bone dry. Perfect for drybrushing bases. If only the sand didn't come off...

Our local gaming store was closing awhile back and he was offering 40% off on paint pots so I grabbed everything I could, as it turns out I bought so many he threw in a bunch for free… pretty close to a lifetimes worth of paint but now I find myself wanting to try some of the new releases. I was even tempted (tempted) to pre order the new master set but over $500 ??? yes a lot of paint but I have quite the collection of P3, GW & Vallejo already, may have to wait on that one.
Anyone seen the new book yet?

tried them today... not a fan at all... dropped £15 on old paints before they disappear. Got some Devlan Mud (Oh how I will miss you!), Graveyard Earth and Catachan Green. Can't believe they are scrapping Devlan Mud... even when alot of people who use other paint ranges still use the washes. I have no idea why they are doing this. Expand the range Yes.... redo the ENTIRE range... NO!!! I had the colours for my large Death Korps army worked out, now I've got to try and stockpile paints so I can complete my army....

Poor Show GW... very Poor Show.

Imperial Primer is brush-on black primer, Lahmian Medium is likely a thinning medium.

I did read those, and I still don't understand.

I kinda get the imperial primer; that's the replacement for chaos black, right?

I don't understand the point behind the medium.

The Lahmian Medium is for thinning regular paints into washes (presumably better than water plus Pril). Also works as matte varnish, e.g. to protect decals and hide their rim.
Primer? No idea

Chaos Black is now Abaddon Black.

Imperial primer seems to be a black that's better formulated for sticking to bare metals, plastics, ect.
*shrugs*

Going to try it out my self to see how much better it is anyway.

It is a matt black. Regular Chaos Black/Abaddon Black was too shiny for basecoating. This is the same matt colour as the spray paint.

Oh ok, so its proper basecoating paint then?
Ok, cool. I always use chaos black to basecoat mine, so I didn't really know the difference

Yes, its the same as the Foundation Black that came in the starter kits, a paint you couldnt buy singly before.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but the paints aren't out yet, they're available to buy on April 7th and to pre-order now.

The full 145 paints are apparently limited to 700 worldwide for £333 0_o

And the paints looked ace, to be fair. I can definitely see myself using loads of the new ones. The white goes straight over a black undercoat with one coat, without showing the black underneath. Pretty impressed

I still hate that they needlessly complicated things in true GW fashion. They should have kept the old color names, but in the new "color equivalents". Then add the new colors. I don't mind the categories.

They also should have stuck with names that are actually indicative of the friggin' color!

What color is "Fire Dragon Bright" supposed to give a player the image of, if they have never seen the official color scheme for a Fire Dragon? At least call it "Fire Dragon Orange". Because then that name actually includes a hue.

From what I've been hearing, I wounder how the texture paints over a thin layer of sand would look? (That and actually see what peoples basing adtempets with it straight look like.)

While I am immensely annoyed that GW didn't keep the Washes and Foundations the same (Which IMHO would have been fantastic), I'm still overall genuinely excited about the new release. More colors is fine with me.

While GW once again finds a way to change things in an awkward way, I think this time it's for the better.

Interesting, the new pots came with a latch. Are you sure its just to keep them open though? I never had a problem to keep the old pots open, and that was without toothpicks.
