I love building my own terrain, but there are plenty of people that have no interest in that aspect of the hobby. I would rather see this stuff at a game than those guys who show up with a couple pieces of Styrofoam from their new computer and are calling it a bunker.

I love bulding terrain, be it stuff I make myself (made a city for an 8X6 table in the space of a weekend once - that was fun!) but I also love GW's terrain (Realm of Battle Board being the exception - that thing is so stupidly overpriced it's not funny).

I'll be getting all of this stuff except the stupidly priced Chaos Bastion and maybe Landing Pad (have to see it in the flesh).

GW website wrote:The Skyshield landing pad used by the Imperial Navy, though originally purpose-built to accommodate Valkyrie and Vendetta gunships, is robust enough to serve even the Thunderhawks of the Adeptus Astartes, and has field generators that protect the craft and its crew from incoming fire.

I don't remember GW ever talking about the Thunderhawk in their sales material, like item descriptions. Maybe I'm reading too much into it and am just hopeful, but does it seem odd to anyone else that they went out of their way to specifically mention the Thawk?
It could be them hinting at things for a distant future release.

IMPERIAL OUTPOST 5 Model Set + Gameboard July 18
IMPERIAL DEFENCE NETWORK 13 Model Set + Gameboard July 18

My unsupported guess this that a gameboard is a single 2'x2' square of dedicated 40K terrain to fit in lieu if ine iof the normal six part boardset.

It would make sense for GW to expand the range of play surface terrain. If its modula, why no extra modules?

So nice to be called a tool.

My RoB was painted within a day of receiving it, and I will not play with an army that is not painted.

I really hate Elitist douchebags who think that anything less then 100% converted golden daemon quality isn't worth there time.

I'll respect your time and effort put into building your own table and board, but that doesn't make you better then anyone else.

I Can't wait for the day when HBMC buys 3 or 4 RoBBs and changes his Tune... It'll happen...
Until then I expect we will have to put up with him having a pop at everyone who defends it.

We bought the Easiest way to have Awesome Variable GamesTables. So we're Tools?

You'll be laughing at me with your 4x4 boards?
The normal size to play 40k is on 6'x4' board... Have you properly thought out your Gaming tables Size/Ratio?
2x2 is probabily the best size for Tiles... for flexibility.

You don't glue the tiles together, you Tool...

If your problem is with the Price? That's fair enough.
Not everyone wants to / or can afford to pay a premium for the good stuff, but that doesn't justify attacking your fellow gamers.
Although I'd recommend (impulse)buying / saving for it, It's worth the effort.

When Planet Strike Arrives I'll buy all that Awesome Terrain too (x2). I guess I'm Just a happy Tool who doesn't want to do more work than is necessary.

I though 4x8 was the standard table size?

In the "early days" of Warhammer Games Workshop really pushed 8'X4' tables as the gold standard everyone should try to play on, but their marketing for the past several years has gotten more realistic. If you want to increase the size of the customer base for these games (and GW obviously does), you have to be more realistic about how much room most people have available at home and how large most standard existing tables are that are already in people's homes. A huge preponderance of dining room tables are 3'X6' or at best, 4'X6'. If you look at the 4th and 5th edition rule book and all the supporting material that mentions table sizes, they generally push tables that are 6 feet long these days. Of course, that doesn't stop us "old-timers" from still seeking 4'X8' since we've already been brainwashed to "need" that size, but these days 6-foot tables are generally the standard suggested by GW.

Now, regarding the Planetstrike scenery, I think the stuff looks fun and flexible. I'm waiting to see what the price will be on the "bundle deal" Strongpoint box that contains 2 Bastions and (it appears) 3 Defence Lines. If there's a good price break on that over buying what's in it separately, I'd definitely go for the big box.

I meant that as I will not play with one of my armies being unpainted, as in my personal army.

I do not have a problem with playing again the the Grey and Shiny Tide.

Well, you two have definitely made me show my 'gaming age'!

And you're right, I do feel that I need the 4x8!

And no, I don't paint my base edges green.

Anymore...

I have two tables, a 8X4 and a 6X5. Works pretty well for us. We usually use the 8X4 as a 6X4 and the extra 4X2 is used to storing models, casualties, dice, drinks, etc.

Believe me, you are not alone. My homemade battleboards give me a 4'X8' table, which I felt I had to have due to my brainwashing in the Rogue Trader and 2nd Edtion years.

As for painting base edges green, I recently repainted a lot of my bases for my multi-army display at Baltimore Games Day. I had some units that still looked good that I wanted to display, but the entire base was done green, top and edges, in the style that was so popular 10 years and more ago. Giving them a more modern and more scenic look really improved their overall look. Funny though, even years ago I occasionally painted some of my base edges a light or medium brown color. Back then it was "heresy" to GW and if you wanted to compete in Golden Demon the edges better have been Goblin Green "or else". Hilarious. I guess I was a pioneer at the time for occasionally "violating" the Goblin Green base edges rule with brown.

By the way, problems with Advance Ordering the Aegis Defence Line on the GW US website were fixed as of yesterday. For several days if you tried to order that item it said "no longer available" in the shopping cart screen. A friend of mine tried to order it for days and couldn't because of this glitch. The problem has since been corrected.

I usually prefer a 4x6 but it just depends on how big the game is. I usually am fine with 2000 pts on a 4x6, but I haven't tried my updated man-heavy guard army on that yet.. and it'll be a while till I get all the stuff done anyway. But usually we play 2000 pts and a 4x8 just seems too "open".

My own little happy place

The game board should be sized according to the point limit like you shouldn't be playing apocalypse 10000 points on 6X4 espicially against horde armies. I find it difficult to place my 100 ork boyz in a 12 inches by 4' area with terrain and tanks.

I tried being normal but it's boring so now I'm back to being insane

C'mon Forge World. Make a Mortis Hurricane arm!!!

And what's that small tower/generator thingy?

And the 'Battleforce' style terrain box appears to have 5 gun turrets - the two from the Bastions and then three from three sets of barricades? That seems like a lot - not that I'm complaining.
