Nice, I like. Surprising just how good a Valk looks minus the wings and with some rotors.

Also, a lot of people are going for Hind, but that chin mount for some reason reminds me of a Super Cobra.
Odd that

Great work on here my friend, keep it up.

The chin mount is from an apache I believe. The Hind has a totally different nose assembly, however the Apache doesn't have any troop transport capability, hence the model is more hind-like.

The valk was inspired by two different conversions that I found floating around online and an apache kit that I bought to steal the prop from. It was not modeled to be a copy of a real world helicopter, simply "inspired" as the rest of my work.

I am glad you enjoy it. I look forward to finishing it soon. The light effect makes it amazing on the table top. One day... I will get some video with the lights running so you can see the army in action.

The troops are taking a long time to finish so I picked up some swat minis from theassaultgroup.com to stand in until they are done. So I hope to have the vehicles table top ready soon.

This is me being all nerdy and stuff, but an ornithopter is a vehicle based on a winged creature, this Valk is a helichopper.

The Valk is a combo of (IMO)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil_Mi-24
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_helicopter

An ornithopter is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ornithopter

Just clearing that up. Thanks Wikipedia!

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas

Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms.

Alright, some new pictures here. They are not the best quality but an update is better then nothing!

First up we have the Manticore. The idea behind this one is that since its D3 templates that it will call in for air support thus the dish on top. The limited ammo rule works well because air strikes would definitly be limited. I only have the primer coat on it so far so the dish will be changing colors once I get to painting.

Here are a few pictures of this army in action. (Lights are running)

You can thank Mr. Sleepy for the on the fly photography that got you an update.

I picked up some minis that I am going to use for the troops. At this time I just dont have the time or desire to complete them. You can check them out at theassualtgroup.com and go to the swat section. You will get a chance to see them once I put some paint on them. I hope to keep the updates comming. So enjoy!

The comm dish is pretty cool end around for the model. Did you articulate it so it would travel flat, like on a news truck?

This pole tount he dish is attached it is capable of moving up and down and spinning a 360 but the dish it self is is mounted so it is not able to lay flat.

Oh, OK. BTW, I think you ought to lengthen the spike in the dish - it looks a little too short for the dish itself.

Also, have you gotten a copy of the BoLS Arbites list? Seems like it'd be a natural for you.

Does anyone else think it's unfortunate that SWAT teams don't ordinarily have artillery support? Cool Manticore!

Yea, it does. With normal swat though your looking to talk some hostage taker out of a building. With the Xeno Task Force they are trying to tell a lone hive tyrant he might have strayed off course.

I'm planning something similar for my army. I'll use the dozer blade to construct the dish to call in ordinance... Basilisk, Manticore, Deathstrike, etc. It never made any sense to me having a weapon that can shoot onto other tables...

So a few quick updates for today. I painted in interior of the Valk and installed the crew and cockpit windows. I also covered the last of the light mounts with clear acrylic so at this point if I am not mistaken 100% of the assembly of the vehicles are complete. That means its time for paint and decals.

I am shocked at how long its been since I have painted something. The last time before today I picked up a paint brush to paint 40k it was when I painted the very first chimera. Its been a few months.

Updates hopefully will be a bit more regular as I managed to hook my phone up to my laptop for internet. So now I have internet anywhere. YAY!

I played a few games with my new IG. I got spanked by Tau and decimated Necrons. I think it was over at turn 3. For the first time I actually killed all of the monoliths!

For past history, a good friend an neighbor I play often has Necrons and for the last 2 years those monoliths have been my bane.

On the side note I spoke to a local painter with some great skills who said he could paint my infantry for 2.50 a model. So I think I am going to go that route as he can produce much faster than I can and he does a damn good job.

Look for updates next week as I try to finish up the tanks over the week. (No promises)

while you're bridging this whole SWAT military gap with your apache hind and stuff you should think about doing a stryker...or something to that effect...dunno if you can find something for it to count as...punisher maybe? but it'd be cool...
