OK guys, here's a good shot of the ork "purity seal" on the left leg. I just removed the wax seal from the termie leg and replaced it with a tiny ork glyph.

Thanks zilegil! Orks are on hold for a while as other projects take precedence, but there is still plenty to paint so there will be more.

Yeah, the orks have been put on the back burner with the rush to get the Adepticon painting done and both my boys getting new armies requiring a lot of my help to paint them. But they will get some attention again.. never fear!

Just thought I'd post an update.... my orks will definitely be getting some love this year.


I've decided to build, as a sub-set of my Bad Moon orks... my own version of a grot revolution army!

Things like...

- grot warboss on bike
- grot Big Mek
- lots of grot troops (which I may count as regular boyz so I can work in some fun weapon conversions)
- if I go with grot boyz, I'll make a couple of grot truks
- grot nob bikers
- kans (of course)
- grot tanks
- grot artillery
- maybe some grot koptas if I can figure out how to make them

and the crowning bit... a grot version of the FW ork mega dread! (which is just the mega dread w/ lots of grots all over the place instead of regular orks)


The army will use the regular ork rules, just with grots replacing orks where appropriate. I'm a bit torn on claiming that regular grot infantry are actually using the stats of ork boyz, but I have some fun conversions I want to try and a couple of trukk mobs would really help out the viability of the force. I guess you could consider them "self actualized" gretchin...

Anyway, it should be loads of fun. And the first model to be done will be the mega dread. So I'll be starting off with a bang!

You could make each "ork boy" a grot standing on another grot's shoulders...

Oh that's brilliant! That way I could still have normal Grot infantry... then the "double grots" that count as boyz!

Grots on "battle stilts" would work too!

I dont know, I like that Grots have BS 3, reason IG works well for em. Making Grot boys would kinda take me out of it. Would look cool, dont get me wrong, but just not what I see when I think grots.

Yeah well, that's the problem I have with it too. Everything else I can excuse, even the grot nob bikers because you can claim it's actually the mechanical stuff that gives them the better stats... but the boyz are a different story.

How about a couple of squads of "mercenary" pirate ork boyz? Signed on with the grots for the loot & using the cool heads from MaxMini?

That sounds good man, those heads are really nice. It would be good to see what you can do to make the grots bigger to fit more with the ork boy stats and rules though. I like the stilt idea or maybe like grot "powa arma" or something similar.

I might have some options... but I'm flexible. I don't want my opponent's feeling cheated because I'm assigning stats to models that should clearly have different stats. My issue is that I know a "full" conversion (i.e. making things from scratch) is beyond me, so I have to at least start with some kind of existing model or collection of bits.

That's why I started throwing ideas out so early... want to let people have a chance to chime in and get an idea for what people would feel comfortable with. Then I'll mock up some models and see what folks think. I do love those pirate heads though, been just wishing for a good excuse to use them.

I could buy that some freeboota's are working with the lil snots.

You could have grots on robotic legs of some sorts, or some other bionic upgrades! Some heavy armor of some sort could count as their upgrade in toughness, or some sort of lifesystem hooked up to them.

I love the idea of two grots on top of each other.
