I would be interested to see what you could do with the image I just sent across to you (a low quality version of which you can see below)

You saying my painting and modeling skills suck?

Also, I just noticed I made a mistake in the colours on one of the scales* - do you need me to send you a new version with the mistake corrected, or can you sort it at your end?

*2nd scale up from the bottom - the interface on the left side between the white and grey should be the same colour grey as the grey next to it on the left

Thanks - I made the design using this image, with an extension to the neck, filling in the top of the horns and a few other minor alterations (as well as obviously breaking it up into different depths of cut represented by the greyscale).

I want to see those bases when they are done.

Me too

Forgive me for not being totally up on the thread- I just wanted to mention that at my job I use a laser cutter, and order acrylic for it, and the blue-tint isn't noticably more expensive than the clear from what I've seen.

I considered cutting a base out of it, I didn't realize you were using acrylic! I would think that the bottom would scratch on tables that are flocked and the like, however people could certainly put a pad on the bottom and keep the rest clear. I'm not sure what kind of pad would work, I'm almost thinking felt...

Anyway, keep up the great work!

I was thinking of adding a layer of varnish to the bottom of the base to give it added protection.

Also - of the necron bases I like the look of the one with a small triangle and the increasingly small circles coming off each of the points (in the middle, far right). Also love the medium sized base on the bottom row at the left.

the one i like the most is the one in the top row, second from the right. very reminiscent of things we've seen in several different sci-fi series and movies.
I think the big one would look better to me if it had a circuit board imprint, or computer code (matrix style).

fav movie quotes: "Well let's put her in charge man! - - "Step up to red alert." "Are you sure sir? It does mean changing the bulb." - - "The escape pods not an option, it escaped last Thursday."

I must admit these bases have so many possibilities I'm finding the idea quite addictive.

I've put in an order for some for the start of an army I haven't started collecting for yet, I'm now fighting the urge to re-base my entire Chaos army on custom bases.

Those Necron bases look fantastic.

The idea of adding varnish to the bottom sounds good I'll have to give that a try.

I'll post some pics of my bases on here when they arrive.

Thanks WarMill for bringing these and more to us.

Sweet you guys are lovely!

The Acrylic we were referring to was 1mm in thickness which is expensive from the start! I'll do some digging to find if what you say holds but suppliers of 1mm cast acrylic are few and far between!

At some point next week I'll see just how well the bases handle a bit of ware and tair, if at all. Varnishing sounds like a great idea, but as we have said we really hadn't considered so many people would want to keep them clear! We only chose acrylic due to it being able to be machined very well and the durability of the material overall.

Lol that is a whole lot of love! The bases are for sale, we're still working on our website but if you're interested in buying some email us at admin@warmill.co.uk and we'll get an invoice sent over. You can buy the ones we've shown off or get some custom ones, just let us know what you're after.

The Ultramarine big display base was just a personal project, I quite fancied getting a Marneus Calgar and painting him up to go on it. The purple and black marine is my personal army, though god knows when I'll actually find time to paint some lol.

We've been commissioned to make some Ultramarine bases for a fellow Dakkaite, so we'll get some pics up when we've got something to show.

I don't know!

I just used marnous calgar with the base provided.(If you own one you should of seen the right part of an ultramarine simble on there. To give an impression that it was on some sort of stautue or something.Finaly what I did for mine was to add a tryin head to the side that just adds that little touch! )

My Eldar display base has been sat on top of my computer for a couple of days now, somehow I only just noticed this.

He looks pretty bad ass when lit with a blue LED!

I actually took the picture to show off the trick when colouring the edges with a lovely shade of pink!

Here is another example of the coloured in edge!

What are you using to colour the edges? I seem to remember you saying you used a marker pen in another post

Not got many drawings made myself, spent some time getting the layout of the *business* side of things.

I made some simple posters to illustrate what we are able to offer at the moment.

At the time of writing our website is non existent so please use the emails to contact us

And I am really trying to resist getting that platinum APC top hatch

Those APC doors look nice I just won an APCcator off ebay, if I can get the doors off I’ll see about ordering some nice new ones

Do you have a better pic of the plat top hatch as I can’t make out what sort of detail you can offer from the pic.

Thanks

These are the concepts for the top hatch, with a couple of pics of the hatch with some ink washed over the sample one to bring out the detail. This was a commission for a dakkaite, but gives you an idea of the level of detail you can get
