LoneLictor wrote:My favorite Primarch is Horus. To me he seems like the strongest (though he's definitely rivaled by Reboute and Russ) and the smartest (though he's definitely rivaled by AlphariusOmegon). He gained the favor of the Chaos Gods and the Allegiance of over half of the Imperium. Using good tactics he manipulated the Imperium and left it wide up to attack. The only reason he didn't rule the galaxy was because he got all emotional at the end and gave the Emperor an opportunity to kill him.

Horus was one of the strongest, but he is more comparable to Sanguinus in a fight. I forget where I read It but Horus and Sanguinus were the only two that could hold their own against the Emperor in a fight. Russ was too wild to duel although in actual combat it is arguable, and Guillman was too controled therefore being predictable. Magnus was definately smarter, although Horus was a better commander if that's what you meant. Alpharius is just sneaky.

Really, I wasnt as impressed with Horus Rising as I was with the 4th Ultramarine novel(where uriel ends up on a random planet on the brink of daemonic incursion). Or any of the Ciaphas Cain novels

It's slightly unfair to compare Horus Rising to the other two, because the others are standalone stories (albeit part of a series), while Horus Rising is explicitly the beginning of a three part trilogy.

But we'r not talking about how well it's written (its full of typo's XD) etc. anyway so who cares.

Otherwise I'll just go read GG, Eisenhorn and Ravenor for the 5th time or something.

How is Eisenhorn?

Awesome, just read Ravenor after it and you should be in Inquisition heaven.

Pfft, what a pansy. That bloodthirster gave him a tough fight, breaking his legs at one point. And that was on Terra.

Draigo wtfpwnt a bloodthirster, IN THE WARP, WITH HIS BARE HANDS, and then used its axe to forge himself a new sword WITH HIS MIND.

From England. Living in Shanghai

Magnus.

His fall was conceived through his own hand, but was orchestrated by using weak pawns manipulated against him. He had an unshakeable belief that he could bring humanity to a higher state of psychic awareness and was fiercely loyal to the Emperor. Had the Emperor not ordered the Council of Nikaea and had the Wolves not destroyed Prospero like Rabid dogs I believe he would have succeeded and aborted the Hours Heresy before it had even begun.

Well, yeah, that's why Horus set him up. Horus said he saw Magnus as dangerous as the Emperor to his plans.

How the hell is mister flappy winning this over Russ?!

Because Russ was an idiot and Sanguinous was everything the primarch's were supposed to be loyal, courageous, inspirational, and a genius in combat. Other Primarch's had only one or two thing that made them great where as Sanguinus excelled at everything. Plus without Sanguinus Emperor would not have beaten Horus

About Loyalty was Russ's department, also I will agree with you that Mr.Mutant did do somthings better then other primarchs like dying like a IG against horus and giving us a chapter full of emos wearing nipple armour .

Nipple Armor probably the worst design flaw in gamesworkshop although worth a good laugh. I normally file mine off all but one guy in the squad and tell people he's the awkward one

Yes, and that reason is the number of adolescents that play 40K. Most of them haven't a clue or the slightest insight into the background (or at best have read a William King novel), and never move beyond the "What? They are drunken Space Werewolf Vikings? And they're like, totally anti-establishment? Winning!"

They'll learn to know better once they're old enough to start thinking with their forebrain.
