I love the fact that GW justifies terrible rules with "The rules are just to sell the miniatures" and then charge twice as much for their rulebook as any other game company.(Heck, most companies have theirs for free download.)
You'd think that if they were truly interested in selling miniatures they'd be following a disposable razors strategy.

Well, some of us actually prefer resin over metal - even finecast.
Defects? I'll just keep complaining until I get a model that's okay. It's far from perfect, but I tend to hate metal models a lot more.

Wait what? They are making finecasts of XV15s when they don't actually exist anymore in the current codex? I don't see them doing this unless they had some plans for using them in the future. Also weird that the XV15 Shas'ui has two models in it. I honestly see these models being renamed the new FireWarrior unit heavy model with a burst cannon.
Shadowsun, one of the more useless SC, getting a price hike to make her even more useless. And the same for ethereals as well as making vespids cost more than terminators. GW will have to do something rather drastic to make these models worth buying if they even wanna make up lost profits for finecasting them.
And I don't know how I feel about the upgrade kits for suits. From the amount of parts included in the broadside kit it would only make one broadside. This means the Crisis suit kit plus this upgrade would come out to 39.50, almost $5 more than the current broadside kit (Not bad actually for finecast increase). Commander on the other hand ends up about $9 more, which is a lot. Not to mention it has nine pieces in it, which is more than the current pewter pieces on the commander now (I think six in the current). Unless I'm missing something here, there seems to be something new hiding in that kit. I also feel there is something more to the broadside kit too, the current kit has ten pieces as well but why would they not make the SMS arms one solid piece? If they re-casted these logically then there may be two extra pieces in the broadside kit as well.
Upgrade kits for suits also means that it seems that they wont be changing the current suit design at all.
And finally, after 13 years, we are getting some way to make shield drones.

I think the point I'm more or less trying to get across here is that the old suits were replaced with these new sculpts. Why would they redo the older XV15 in finecast unless they had a plan for them. Or does GW just realize people liked the old models better than the new sculpt.
I just feel something is off here. Sure the XV15 is still listed and playable, but the XV15s have been out of stores for a long time now and only sold on the website. So I guess I made the error of assuming that since it is getting a finecast release, it would be going BACK into stores. If it actually goes back into the store, then I would question it more. But I think it will go back in stores, since I don't seem them finecasting something and only selling it on their website.

You're attaching too much significance to a non-issue.
The XV15s were kept in production because they either didn't sell well or didn't really do enough in terms of them being sold.

So your saying they recasted them and continued producing them because they didn't sell well. Makes sense they would invest a very large amount of money into something like resin molds for a product that will not return their investment. Especially when there is a cheaper plastic alternative already present.

Considering by all reports, they're essentially "reusing" the same masters/molding tech--they're not investing that much into it.
The fact that there is a plastic alternative is, again, a non-issue.

LOL I had to laugh. Asking for a digital version to play a physical game. So why not just play the computer game? It's digital. This way you have digital minitures with digital paint. Sorry just needed to say it, didn't mean to pick on you. Just tired how so many people say digital is so much better. If it is, why are we still playing with physical minis and paint then?
Just saying. Sorry didn't mean to pick on you.

That's news to me that they are reusing the metal molds, then there is a lot less money being put into it. I just see GW more likely dropping the XV15 model all together rather than doing resin casts. Especially when they aren't sold in stores.

For a 440 page hardcover and full color book? I've made the "college textbook" argument in other threads and I think it's pretty dead on. You're gonna be using it for 4 years at least, something that averages out to be about $18.75 a year isn't too bad at all. Buy from Warstore and it's only $60.

Again, as mentioned a few posts back: this hobby is not cheap, crap or get off the pot (find something else to do with your time). I dont find the books price really much of anything, a new small version will be flooded here shortly with the boxset, plus its the cost of many individual units I use now in the myriad armies I run.

I dont find the books price really much of anything, a new small version will be flooded here shortly with the boxset, plus its the cost of many individual units I use now in the myriad armies I run. And, as always mentioned, how about you take a look at the rest of the hobby, and not just GW? For example, Flames of War. Not only did I get a a free mini rulebook that was full color and had all of its pages match up with the main rulebook (which GW's mini books don't), when I bought the main rulebook for $60, I actually got 3 books - a full color, 300 page hardback rulebook that is completely filled with rules, a 100 page 'Forces' books with army lists for Germany, Britain, the US, and the USSR, and a 40 page booklet detailing how to paint infantry/tanks, how to make terrain, set up tables, and find other ways to enjoy the wargaming hobby. So, yeah. $75 for a massive book that boils down to 100 or pages of rules and the rest is non-essential fluff. That's overpriced. And, again, why do people keep bringing up the red herring argument of comparing GW items to non-wargaming items? You're comparing apples to oranges. Trying to use college books to justify the pricing of GW's rulebooks is just silly.

Im not comparing this to anything, I choose to play this hobby and the cost is not prohibitive to me. My comment in no way mentioned, or implied to mention, anything else. Its not to expensive for me and until such time I can no longer derive enjoyment from it this will continue. I will agree that other miniature hobbies have aspects which are cheaper, however I feel that GW are the selection of games I enjoy the most, thus its worth the cost.
Again crap or get off the pot to things you will actually enjoy enough to not complain on a hobby site.

This way you have digital minitures with digital paint. Sorry just needed to say it, didn't mean to pick on you. Just tired how so many people say digital is so much better. If it is, why are we still playing with physical minis and paint then?
What planet are you from???
My god. It's like someone trying to argue that evolution can't be real because there are still monkeys around.
I know right? It's like he thinks an IPad would be harder to carry around than a 800pg Rule Book.
