Subject: Dakka (Unofficial) Painting Challenge Round 24 February 2017: We Have The Technology
Still a WIP, but nearing done! Wanted to show off the extra arms and the paint, but he still needs some touch ups before his glamour shots!
I'm thinking of making his mask an off-white, just to make it pop a little more, kinda skull-like, give him more of a freeboota pirate motif. I also have a deff dred with the skull faceplate in white, so it'd be a nice call back.
Due to various life intrusions I hadn't got round to making an entry this month yet, now I'm not sure I want to! Another fantastic looking entry DaisyWondercow, great job everyone you may have psyched me out!

Great work WarPig, the flames and highlights are very well done. Glad you decided to join in

There is an element of trust and honesty in the challenge so if you forgot to get proof pics of the other two you can ask if its ok to enter them in your final entry. People have forgotten to take proof pics before, it happens.
That's really rather cool DaisyWondercow, I was worried the dreadnought arm would look out of scale but your painting and other mods have really made it work, love the very dirty yellow and the copper oxidization.
@feltmonkey - I can't think of any reason for you to be disappointed - he looks fantastic. I'm especially envious of the wood effect on the base, it's very realistic. The leather coat is pretty realistic too. Great work!
You think your progress is glacial. I did a bunch of basecoating on my Riptide on the first day of the month and haven't touched it since due to needing to do another project first. I'm going to need to seriously rally to get done in time.
Some good things happening in the last few days from you guys, I like where this contest is going!

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.
Grotsnik Corp. Sorry, No Refunds.

Yeah, I'll take your word that they were done within the month, so feel free to enter them as a group when you get round to doing final pics.

@Feltmonkey that's look really excellent as well! Lovin the base and the story
@DaisyWondercow - that is EPIC, looking so sweet!
Todays update (TL;DR - trying to get to priming finally)
Spoiler:
Having some trouble unfortunately keeping its wheels on >< I lost the whole back axle the other night, reglued it tried to reinforce it. And when I picked up the model again today it fell off. Again. ARRRRGH!
Anyway, here's some bits I've added - mostly "armour" to the top, a few small bits of spikey bits along various panels (can't see 'em cuz they're clear resin atm), some panels near the doors. And a dead Tyranid on the hood, cuz Redneks.
View from the front
with the Gun Turret in place (still not glued down yet as I want to keep it separate to paint)
And the gunner... He's spotted something I think. Oh it's a GUN. lol He's not glued on yet either at all, nor are his arms (again for painting purposes)
Hoping I can get to prime today if I can get the @()$&*$)(#*$())#)$)( wheels to stay on!
Well, I'd hoped to be further along with this, but RL got busy, had some stuff fall into my lap-but I'm still going.
Basic shape's all done. At this point I'm on to armor, and plasticard details, before going onto detailing.
Looking good everyone else.
My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.
Elysian Drop Troops, Dark Angels, 30K
Mercenaries, Retribution
Ten Thunders, Neverborn

hmm...could you put couple of kinda "v" shaped, "loop" brackets out of thin plasticard, holding the axle to the chassis?...that might give it a bit more stability, assuming you can get a good bond between the brackets and chassis
...it's good to be green!

Some bits I like, some I'm not so happy with, but as usual, this competition has pushed me to get something finished, which can only be a good thing
I've been painting old metal RT stuff for the last year, but this is the first model that constantly had the paint on the edges chipping off. It's like every time I touch it more paint comes off
Automatically Appended Next Post: @Guildenstern - can't wait to see some paint on that - looks great!
@feltmonkey - Jesse's looking good. Looking forward to seeing the finished model.
@DaisyWondercow - the Mek is amazing. Really love the use of the dread arm. Great weathering and lots of details.
@Warpig - your Sala looks great. Really love the freehand flames.

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts
Well here's my entry for this month finished. The Haemonculus Covens definitely have the technology and you can be sure they're going to use it (for worse or even worse...er). There's lots of great entries here, it's exciting to throw my hat in with you all.

Nice work so far Farseer Anath'lan, you are very good at working with Plasticard and getting clean lines.
Inevitable_Faith, I like how you have painted the muscle lines on the model, makes it look quite creepy.
Small update: Done some highlighting and rust, still some more to go as well as the OSL for the Plasma Coils and then the Snotlings will have their revenge!
Thank you very much midget gems and feltmonkey, I great appreciate your comments.
It's things like your grow plasma cannon grow crew that make me want to collect orks, such great conversion potential. Great job on it btw, it's looking great.

Well, out of several concerns at this time, one is I'm not sure I can even compare to Inevitable's terrific work. The other is that the Deffkopta is one model that's quite tough to paint when it's been glued very very thoroughly. In fact I had to re drill a hole just to insert a clear flight stick underneath, so I probably won't be showing off a gooey looking undercarriage once I'm finished. Gotta love secondhand, eh?
There are some really awesome entries here, they make me wish I had thought of them!
Anyhow, here is my finished Tau battlesuit.
It is a bit hard to tell in the photos but I have tried to actually paint each of the panels to exaggerate the shadows. Some came out a bit too obvious, but others I am happy with.
Some really great conversions this month - I can't wait to see them!
Finished my Commander Farsight! I had wanted to paint up a couple of Battlesuits to go alongside him, but other things got in the way!! (I also apologise for the quality of the pictures - definitely need to get better at that if I want to keep doing these challenges! )
Spoiler:
Great work so far everyone - and good luck for when voting comes around!
I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up
