Thanks guys, glad you like the Compork 500 netbook, comes pre-installed with a full suite of ballistics programs and a handy wall-mount.

No transport options for the gunner, maybe a stray wire or two hanging from his waist connector. I was toying with the idea of having a set of legs tied down somewhere on the buggy floor, and possibly an arm too, but I think I have a better use for that idea, not sure I want to start using it yet.

I just had a crazy idea... an idea that only someone with your expertise in the area of converting orks could pull off. I had this idea of a grot, being controlled like a puppet, or a remote control toy, with a mek or runtherd in controll. what do you think?

God, proto, I'll take that as a challenge (even though it's adressed to monkey, lol)

I'll make something like that, in a while, and prove that monkey isn't the only great ork converter around here

Tiny, tiny buttons. Once again your skill at accurately gluing tiny bits of plastic together amazes me - Are you in fact in possession of a shrinking machine aka "inner space" and "the incredible voyage" which allows you to shrink down to orky size and build such tiny things? Or maybe you are an evil wizard! I will rustle up a mob with flaming torches and come check

proto - Remote-grot and 'Master of Puppets' grot are both interesting ideas. I'll keep them in mind, but very much doubt I'm the only one capable of such things Go check out CK's burnas and lootas for ideas in a similar vein

CK - Thanks! Madness and detail - such a beautiful pairing

Matt - I think that's been proved many times over on Dakka alone

graven - Cheers bud! They came at just the right time, fitted far better than any of the ones I'd trialed. The only trouble with issuing netbooks to da boyz is they spend too much time surfing da waaagh wide web, downloading grot(s)

HAZZER - Thanks man!

weety - Damn you woman! First you sniffed out my Edward Tweezer-hands trickery, then you discovered my shrinking ray and realised I'm an evil wizard. Curses! I'll deal with you and your angry mob elsewhere. I may even use my deLorean to nip back a few hours and do it then

So quite a bit done over the holiday. Quite a bit of video gaming, board gaming and eating that is Then the first few days at work were long and hectic, and there's been a bit of a breeze blowing recently, which has pretty much put any acurate chopping or colouring out of play. Slopped a few basic colours onto the bastion-thingy, even managed to start on a few details.

And put together the first of the 'value-added' extras - a small platform.

All those random squiggly bits are just the first stage of weathering, there's plenty more dry-brushing and washing to go on there. The platform needs rivets and probably an interior brace for the front armour, then some details underneath - some hooks or something I think.
Thinking about adding some pegs to one of the supports to act as steps up. I like the idea of a chain or ladder at the back, but it would interfere with model placement

Might as well put this in one of the threads where all the riveters hang out-

Red Iron Games (my business) is going to be producing Rivet Strips: thin bits of resin (or possibly plastic in the future) with rivets pre-cast, for use as riveted joints or thin plates (or thick plates, if you ask).

Might make making Orky terrain a little easier, no?

dstein - Thanks man. Terrain praise from you means it must be going all right

Anvildude - Sounds interesting, varied rivets are always handy. Good luck with the business.

Gits - Thanks a lot man!

CK - Agreed. On both counts

TR - Cheers mate. I like to get most of the basic colours down early to give me a feel for where to take it. Doesn't always work

vik - Not this time I have some tiny screws for just such an opportunity, but when with the dress-pins this time. Which was almost an issue because I forgot to clip the pins that went in perpendicular and close to other pins. Just about avoided having sharp spikes poking through the floor

SelvaggioSaky - Thanks. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

neil - Don't think of them as humans. Think of them as field rations.
When suppies are low the boyz go and hide just round the corner and wait. Sooner or later a bunch of humies will turn up to explore..... and there's lunch.

Llama - Ya gotta let 'em nose around a bit. Free-range humies are much tastier

ldd - Excellent - that a fair summary

Well, another slow Sunday update I'm afraid. Did manage to spend several hours yesterday scouring a couple of sites for plastic tubing, domes and the like. Got a little carried away at first and when I went to check my basket found there was almost 200 squids worth of assorted plastic in it.

I decided I might not need all of that.

But after spending a while longer emptying a bunch of stuff from the basket I'm still looking forward to a supply drop later in the week.

In the actual workroom, not a lot going on, lots of little bitty things. Of interest, there's the colour scheme for the slorks - think I have something figured out now so I'll give it a try on the guy with the big sword. Also think I've figured out how to get the swappable parts for Upzag's track/bike unit. And started playing with a couple of ideas that are potentially un-related to cyborks.

Added some peg-steps to the platform, along with a hanging chain. Tried a few hooks underneath, but wasn't really feeling them, so it's just the chain for now, I'll have another look when it's finished.

If it appears some areas are almost fully weathered, whilst others are still missing a base coat.... that's because that's true. Don't ask, I can't tell. I don't know myself. Found a light grey wash in the vallejo wash set, which sems to be quite useful for dulling down tread-plate and the like.

And that's about it for now.

They're not gonna catch us. We're on a mission from Gork.

Just amazing love the colours looks like resources from every possible source has been used, I was thinking how about a tire hanging from the chain after all will give the humans something to do before for lunch (them being it )

How about a ladder they always look good in this kind of terrain Zinge does a few that look good and would work well with this ……. sorry bad plug there although i am sure you would make your own

As for filling the shopping cart I did that the other day thanks to dsteingass yes you mate, had an order of about $500 nocked it down to $100 took about an hour to reduce.

dstein - Thanks man! Although it's nearing that dreaded 'almost there' state at which so many pieces stumble I've started thinking about the next couple of 'expansion packs' to add to it, in the hope that my subconcious might be fooled into believing it's still being built

Arakasi - A flaw shared by every other bit I produce Except those GMS guys that have made it into battle And thanks!

ldd - Yeah, decided I needed a bit more variety to the plates on this. A few camo schemes ripped from old projekts, some good old checks and maybe a logo or two. Not sure why the idea of checks never came under consideration for any of the vehicles considering how synonymous with ork kulture they are.

Hmm... tyres, there's an idea. I might just go somewhere with that

Yeah Zinge does some nice stuff, but I don't want a ladder on that piece as it interferes with the top too much, the pegs are good enough for your average cybork. (whatever that is )

CK - Thanks bud! But it is just one incomplete building at present

TR - Cheers!

HAZ - Thanks. Twice

vik - Danke. Taken in the way it was meant

Tiny bit of paint added to the outpost, and a few bits of plastic fiddled with. Not a lot to show, but here goes anyway...

Start of the bits for Upzag's transport.

In 'pedestrian' mode:

The flat space on top will house various mek-tool arms and the like, holding off starting on those till my supply drops get here.

In bike mode:

That's a pretty rough jet exhaust there, but it'll be along those lines, I'd like to get at least one mek-arm in there too.

There's two more plates, one which sits inside the box, for any extra gubbins I want to add. And starting work on this again has opened up some avenues I was contemplating before. I used to love toys that came apart and could be re-combined in different ways. Swappable load-outs on figures are always fun. There's possibilities to be explored at some point with the 'plug-and-play' driver types I've used, and also with some of the larger drive units.

If Upzag's torso is removable this could become a heavy weapons platform (or big gun ) with the addition of, well, a big gun.
Probably not with a jet engine though.

Add some wheels to the turret, add a turret to the track section, potential there for a grot tank I feel.

And not an ork but...

Thought a little group of 'bots would be cool. The first one needs a few arms, not started for the same reasons as the mek-arms for Upzag

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Battle wagons on fire off the shores of Armageddon. I watched snazz-guns glitter in the darkness at Cadian Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like grots in the stew.
