I agree with that. I wish I had waited before painsting my Seadrake with Dheneb Stone and skull white. The white would.have been fine except the DS applied patchy for some reason.

Don't know if anyone has seen this yet but there is a colour conversions from the old paints to the new ones on the GW site.

I agree for 2 reasons:

First you can control the intensity. They come rather heavy, so you can use them as is or thin them to your liking. The old washes weren't very thick, meaning you'd need to do multiple coats to get such an effect.

Secondly, the new shades work properly on flat surfaces instead of pooling and drying weird like the washes did.

Do you have to thin the glazes before you use them, or is it just a case of getting more/less on your brush?

Looking on the GW website this morning and noticing that the paints have been announced has got me a little excited today.

I have big hopes for these new paints. From some reviews currently it would appear they are a marked improvement.

I'm going to have to slowly replace all my paints now, as I simply want all of these new colours.

Good move on GW's part I think.

The glazes are a decent bit different than the washes. I'm going to take pics of both on Wednesday when my local GW is open. I completely forgot to take my camera with me Saturday.

These changes won't affect me too much as I mainly use Vallejo, though I am incredibly excited about Ceramite White. If its efficacy lives up to the hype online then painting the white bits of my marines' armour will no longer take days and I might make a heck of a lot more progress with them than I currently do before getting fatigued.

The shades sound more or less like washes and I can't imagine any change will be too noticeable.

I know people have only had access to a few of the new paints, but I was wondering if anyone had given Khorne Red a go? According to the conversion chart it's the replacement/equivalent for Scab Red. If anyone has tried it could you comment on how closely the two match up? I'm trying to work out whether or not I'll need to stockpile Scab Red as I've yet to find an equivalent in any other paint ranges.

Finally got to try some of the paints out and pretty impressed. I wasn't looking forward to figuring out what to use for all the mixtures I use but I don't think there'll be much issue.

Currently I use a topcoat of 1:1 Blood Red/Mechrite Red, but it looks like Mephiston Red is pretty much exactly that colour, so saves me a lot of time.

Having white in a foundation paint is great, so much easier to use white without fear of it being streaky after the millionth coat. Not so sure on the textured paint yet, Armageddon Dust didn't seem all that great to me. The new washes seem to find recesses a little better though, Nuln Oil is pretty nice.

I'm just hoping Sotek Green is almost the same as Hawk Turquoise >_>

Has anyone gotten a chance to photograph the ceramite white applied to a model?

This would especially be helpful to see how well it covers over a dark primer, or a colored primer. My blood angels will have white effects on their pauldrons, etc, and I'm painting my sanguinary priests as medics with lots of white so i'm really excited for this color in particular.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Sooooo.... I haven't been in this hobby long enough to have been part of a new paint line launch....

Is supply usually an issue, or do I have to camp out like it's friggin black friday to get the new shades? Is every FLGS usually stocked with only like 5 of each color? XD (/emote remembers the Final Fantasy '3' debacle back in the early 90's...)

I'd say it depends on your FLGS when it comes to stock, but I highly doubt you'd need to camp out just for paint.

I can't get pics but I guarentee that ceramite white would. Work having seen it being applied to a Blood Raven Apoth only moments ago.

I've seen it applied to the shoulder pads of a space marine, it covered amazingly well with one coat

I am seriously impressed with the new white and red Bases. Mephiston Red. 1 coat over black. Perfect coverage, and a wash or the new red. Amazing Ruby armour. Add red glaze andm thast could be something new altogether.

The white got awesome coverage over hand painted Chaos Black. 1 coat. No joke. Thinned a little to boot.

Guys i got to try em out yesterday, and they are magnificent! Base paints can go right over black!(not sure about the others)But i didnt like the texture paints :(

I was hoping the mud one would have a kind of thick muddy texture and so when dry it would look very realistic. And the snow similar. But I wasn't holding my breath for that.
Expecting they are just "base" style paints with fine sand in them. If you build it up correctly maybe it might look almost like maybe mud if you squint REALLY hard, so hard in fact you have your eyes closed.

Note I haven't used or seen them yet this is just a guess.

The texture paints are just thick paints (seem thicker than foundation) with bits of grit and sand in them. I used Armageddon Dust in store (the desert basing colour) and didn't think much of it. You have to really pile it on thick to see any real difference if I'm honest. Certainly won't be replacements for basing with sand/flock etc.

The rest of the paint types seem brilliant though, I can't hype the Base White enough, it's miracle paint. Covered a black mini, after 1 coat it was almost flawless finish with a couple of streaks. Second coat and it was fine, over a BLACK sprayed model.

Still think some of the names are stupid though. XV-88 is already the colour no-one wants to ask for in store

ok so mephiston red is brighter than mechrite? is it almost like blood red? that would suck...

what is the big deal about white foundation. i can see it being useful to have but white over white primer works fine enough. painting alot of white over a black primer is dumb to start with. use white primer and you should be ok.

did anyone try the new foundation gold or the screaming bell one? now those i want because GW gold doesnt cover very quickly.
