I agree with the gold statments. Shining is too chunky fand Burnished too thing for anything other than highlights or drybrush at the moment.
However, the Ceramite White is a miracl;e because of the fact you can undercoat black, get a bright colour scheme while leaving recesses darker without having to wash or repaint.
I used to prime my Blood Ravens ibecause they red needed several coats to go on properly. Even then, the joints and dark bits were white, so I need to repaint those black, which at the time was glossy and didn't look good.
The issue is now somewhat resolved by having Imperial Brushon Primer, matt black, but Ceramite white will by giving birth to White Scar army after white scar army.

Is supply usually an issue, or do I have to camp out like it's friggin black friday to get the new shades? Is every FLGS usually stocked with only like 5 of each color? XD (/emote remembers the Final Fantasy '3' debacle back in the early 90's...)
When they changed from the hard plastic pots to the current mini pots, there were some major supply issues, at least down here in Oz. Stores were only getting 6 of each colour at a time, and so it was almost impossible to buy any of the more popular colours for the first couple of months unless you happened to be in the store when their weekly order arrived.
From memory (it was a while ago now) they had similar issues when they changed from the Coat D'arms range to the dodgy pots.

I probably will pick up some of the bases (especially white) since I airbrush my main colors and sometimes I have to cover red or black in order to get nice whites or bones. However I've used gamecolor "white primer" and it seems to do the job...I doubt there's anyone able say whether ceramite white is equivalent or better. I just mean there aren't many who've probably used both.

According to GW, Khorne Red is similar to the old Scab Red. Mephiston red should be the closest to Mechrite.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a chance to try any of the new paints out yet.

I tested the ones they had available. They really are much better. They go to crevices more it seemed, and they don't pool up and spot.

There may well be a supply issue at first if what I hear is correct. GW are having to fully stock 145 paints in all of their stores (not counting trade customers) across the world. Not sure of the exact numbers but I know it runs into millions upon millions of pots of paint.
GW staff have been told that they are not allowed to purchase the Mega Paint Set as there isn't enough to go around. And managers in their own stores are being advised to not let any staff purchase paints in the first week at least so that customers do not turn up to find the paints they want have all been bought before the stores even open.
The new paint racks are designed to only hold 6 pots at one time to create space for the entire range (rather than the 12 or so that current racks hold) and I believe initially all stores will only be receiving either 6 or 12 pots of each colour in their initial order in order to make sure every GW store worldwide has every colour on launch.
Whilst not ideal, I think having to supply at least 6 pots of 145 lines of paint worldwide to every store/trade account/700 mega paint sets/countless starter paint sets and enough to fill web orders is a pretty major undertaking.
But of you do turn up to a store and they've sold out, you can always order them on the web.

The non granular nature if the textured paint would seem to lend itself to miniature modelling to me, colour me interested.
The £333 price tag for the mega paint set seems a bit strong though.

Hmm, staff in my local GW said that they had bits of sand and grit in. Gotta admit when I used it, there looked like small grains in the paint but perhaps not.
@ Whoever was asking about Mephiston Red: It's far brighter than Mechrite. Probably somewhere halfway between Mechrite and Blood Red. Khorne Red wasn't in the store so I couldn't have a look at that.

it isn't though, 2.30 x 14 = £333.50, plus you're getting a carry case for all the paints, so you do get it a bit cheaper than if you bought it all individually.
The thing that really annoys me though, since I work in a GW stockist, and I'm friends with another guy who's a stockist, is that they haven't told us anything about the new range.
All they said in January/February was that we had to sell down our existing range, we were only getting paints in ones or twos rather than sixes, that's it. If we had to buy all 145 paints, at 6 paints a pack, you're looking at £1000 and then a paint stand on top, and that's about £100 I think. Small retailers can't afford those kind of prices as a one off payment

Tested out the paints. Colours are certainly more vibrant, though I still prefer foundations for the pastel effect. Base colours go on smoother but don't have the same coverage as the old foundations, but are certainly more consistent from pot-to-pot (whereas mechrite red sometimes came out thin and glossy). Thankfully the new DA palette is a lot simpler than the ultramarines one for first-timers (green allover with white markings and a red gun, certainly a lot easier with the new white). That said I'm disappointed there's been no chance to see the new fleshtones, which will have to sell this to me in the end.
Ceramite White in a single coat will have better coverage than skull white however does have a tendency to clog detail so best to put on in two layers or so. The one thing that really puts me off is the new labels (with the splatter effect around the shield-shape), which clash with the colour on the inside a majority of the time, making it difficult to distinguish. that and a $870 price tag for the paint bundle makes me sick to my stomach. It's hard to recruit friends to warhammer with price tags like these.

I realize what the bundle contains, and that I am not forced to buy it. A mega paint set used to be a reasonable deal with brushes + case especially at UK prices.
Now it's just a case with paints for $870 so try getting one of those for christmas or better yet: at all. So I won't be able to get any kind of deal for the 50% of the range I probably will end up using.

Though like he said 145*6= 870, the $165 case is free...
That being said I never really saw the appeal in buying the paint set against buying a bunch of paints you know you'd need and go with it from there dependent on scheme. Especially since it meant a bunch of those paints would likely sit and not be too great when you finally got around to using them or you'd feel like you'd have to due to the amount of the paint set and having them all just sitting around.

I'm sure some of the new washes and base paints will be useful, but largely I'm seeing little to sway me from my Coat D'Arms paints (same as the original GW from the 1990s), Vallejo and Awesomepaintjob.com recipe washes. GW Canada sells the new paints at £3.15 after local taxes. I can get Coat D'Arms for £1.80 with free shipping from Maelstrom. Vallejo for £1.57 to £1.93 depending on the line it's from (Model Air, Model, Game, Washes, etc.,).
Also, 17ml per bottle is over 40% more paint.
Seems like another release from GW for people who only know about their stuff. Like the chumps who walk into a GW and pay £5.66 for 20ml of plastic glue when other thick and thin plastic glues are available for half the price for three times the amount.

The deal would be nice if its not website only event. Or else that for 30% off would be a decent price even I would approve.
