Is there any way you can get it on the day of release if you order it direct from games workshop?
I don't know if there is a "deliver to my store" option that would let you pick it up from a local GW store. If the 6th BRB was any indication it could mean that some people that actually order it from GW will get it the week after.

I just got off the phone with my FLGS who usually sells the WD two days early and he told me he'd gotten into some trouble about that recently and he can no longer sell it early. Might mean there is some truth to that leaked letter (be it fake or no, the message itself seems to have been sent one way or another)

GW has always had a dont sell our stuff early or else policy. Likely your LGS just finally got caught

Yes, does anyone else think that the incredibly expensive boutique models that almost always look better than their GW equivalents look better than their snap-fit plastic equivalents? That's not even a question. I think these cultists look awesome, but the Forgeworld ones have a level of detail that plastic isn't at yet. That being said, if I'm going to build a horde of cultists it's going to be from starter set plastics as opposed to Forgeworld resin.

GW sent out a somewhat harsh message to retailers 1-2 weeks ago regarding leaking info and selling before the release date. If caught, the retailer risks not getting new products until six weeks (I think it was six, grain of salt here) after release.

GW have told retailers that they will withdraw accounts from them if they promote any of the leaked information, this is also linked to webcasts and blogs that they sponsor which is a bit of a joke really!

Mephiston has one, that's all. He also has a giant leather cape.

That's assuming it's even real. Funny that any rumors that pop up are usually subject to immediate scrutiny and sources are evaluated thoroughly, but any random "Internal GW document," regardless of how poorly written or called into question by former employees who have seen actual GW internal documents, is immediately taken at face value. If you're going to be critical, at least be consistent.

That document has been criticized before, you're not the first person to call it into question. Get over yourself.

Never claimed to be the first to question it. Just pointing out the disparity in criticism when in comes to GW rumors and "leaks."

@Everyone else who responded - thanks for actually providing source confirmations. I hadn't seen that posted here before, but I probably have missed a few pages of discussion.

The two are not mutually exclusive. I suspect there will be an upswing in the number of DA players, but not enough to keep their half of the box sitting up on ebay, unloved and all alone.

I'm definitely taking my DAs. Very excited to get them as it happens. The chapter won't actually be Dark Angels because I'm not a fan of their paint scheme, but that's fine. Bad asses in robes with a feather motif. That's cool.

Agreed. I'm voting 30:70 new players to unloved.

I do Chaos and DA (Legion), so I'm good to go with two boxes, although I use the old model metal termis (pre-Deathwing), so the plastic termis may get dumped (or more likely cut up).

PS Something odd is happening with nesting quotes. Had to add an extra end quote to make it work. Had the same problem in another recent post.

I am not happy with the cultists either. I wanted robes. These guys dont look like cultists to me, they look like derelict space children.

I think what you paint them as might have something to do with how happy you are with them. Not really the biggest fan of khorne, so I'm not big on the chaos side as a whole.

I wonder how hard it will be to convert the bikers and terminators to chaos?

Oh, haha. No, I like the models, I just don't like how they're painted up for the boxed set. The hellbrute is a bit Khorny, with those horns on the sarcophagus though.

RedemptionNL has the WD. He describes the missions in the Starter Set as:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++==
There are 6 missions in the booklet enclosed with the starter set, which balance the forces a little I think:

Rampage:
Solo mission designed to be played be a single player, where the player must use the Chaos forces to wittle down the rampaging Hellbrute to a single hull point, after which the Chaos Lord must deactivate it in assault.

The Long & Winding Road:
Solo mission designed to be played be a single player, where the player must use the Ravenwing Bike squadron to survive 3 successive waves of Chaos Cultsts.

Ambush:
Small scale ambush by a handful of Dark Angels against a large force of Chaos Cultists. To represent the ambush, the Chaos player cannot declare a charge, go to ground or fire Overwatch in the first turn, and can only fire Snap Shots the first turn.

Psychic Storm:
Introduction of the Librarian. Dark Angels go against a larger force of Chaos Cultists, with staggered reinforcements such as the Deathwing and Chosen coming in on fixed turn numbers.

Firefight:
First mission to use all the models in the set, basic victory points for destroyed units, with the HQs and Hellbrute being worth more points.

The Hellfire Stone:
Seems to be similair to the Relic mission from the base rule book.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++==

It would appear as though this balances the forces within the set.

Clearly it looks odd because we are putting into normal game context.

Personally, I am interested in playing these new missions, using only what is included in the starter set.

Simply amazing. That still makes it look nothing like the AoBR captain aside from being a generic lord in power armour, at which point complaining about it is pointless.

Remove horns.
Remove skulls.
Turn sword right-side up.

Now it is an AOBR captain.

the chaos lords cloak flows to his left while the AOBR flows to his right. Huge difference!

Pre-orders officially start this Saturday, but GW will usually update their website at 12am CST, so probably when it is actually August 25th you can place a pre-order with GW online. If you want to order on 3rd party sites you should be able to do this on Saturday as well.
