What information is there about locations on Terra and the Sol System? Ian Watson's Inquisitor books had some info but is there more? Off the top of my head I can come up with some stuff... Mercury & Venus? Earth - Holy Terra, barren and lifeless, covered completely in temples and palaces. Inquisition is in Antartica. Any other specific locations mentioned? Where excatly is the Golden Throne? Moon - Battlefleet Terra Mars - Adeptus MEch. Whole deserts of abandoned and ruined tech. Asteroid belt & Jupiter? Saturn - Grey Knights on Titan. Uranus, Neptune, Pluto?

"Inquisition War" describes Terra a bit. Its a hive world, and billions live there. Im gona re-read that section.
The astronomicon is under the himalayas, i dont know how close they are to the golden throne.

Remember any data? Yea it's here above my desk (borrowed it just a few weeks ago). I dunno, it's just some intruige (really cerebral stuff for a 40k novel) amongst the Nobilis Navigae on Terra. He mostly just hangs out in the Navigator family's control zone, though he goes to a bar outside it and gets in a fight. He also goes way under, sees some wierd old (20th century) stuff, etc. There isn't really any indication, as far as I read, of any correlations with modern Earth places. From the book, it was a gilded cage sort of place. Very high luxury but everyone's jockeying for power. And everyone is so conservative, there's a 2nd level clerk in the Underhive who literally can't concieve of being anything else, he was a pretty cool little character. As usual life is cheap and death's on sale too. What kind of details do you want more specifically?

Also don't forget Terra gonna look a little different after the beating it got during Horus's little Cufuffle...if Terra has any liquid water left it'd bef fing amazing but hey there you go....
And Yeah I do seem to remember the imperial palace being in the Himalayas.....dumb place really not exactly the most stable tectonic area in the world.
Mercury and Venus are unihabtad if i remember right.....they are far to close to the sun.....
The asteroid belt has mining platform and hundreds of Defence stations....I seem to remember pluto just being a listening post....

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

The Golden Throne is situated slap bang on Nottingham, where GW HQ is now. Thta's just such a coincidence, isn't it?
Earth also has the main Assasin temple, and somewhere in the system, (possibly Earth) is the second most important Adeptus Sororitas temple. Also, presumably the Ministorum have some huge offices (with great comedies based around the day-to-day lives of their workers on Terran TV.)
Titan, Jupiter's moon, is the Grey Knights base. Mars we all know about.

(Commencing Necro-ing)
The Astromican itself is located in the Himalayas, which is the only mountain range left on the planet.
The imperial palace takes up most of what was the North American continent and is where the Emporer is located; which if you look at a map is no where near the Himalayas or Great Britain. in actuality there are 2 gates that are located in the Emporer's palace: the Ultimate gate is the gate to the palace itself the Eternity gate is the entrance to the Emporer's inner sanctum.
Ive also read all of the space wolf books recently who have Ragnar as the main character, and the only part of Terra he goes to is what one of the previous posters refers to as the "Navigator Ghetto", which in actuality is a very ornate place where untold amounts of money has been spent to develop it.
Battlefleet Solar is not located on the moon, rather the moon is the location of the many defense systems used to protect Terra from potential attack.
Mercury and Venus have little to no people what so ever on them, possibly only a few mining stations or research facilities.
Mars is most definitely not a graveyard of technology. Most of the planet is a gigantic factory (a forge world) so little of the planet would be unused for any purpose. It is also the location of BattleFleet Solar because of its massive shipyards and docking facilities.
Pluto is a listening post.
Titan holds the Grey Knights chapter of the space marines and only a few other moons in the solar system have any sort of human presence.
The asteroid field is mostly mining and private "asteroid mansions", there is very little evidence of "Defense systems" there if i recall correctly.

The Imperial palace is actually much larger and covers most of the northern hemisphere (not just north america) and there is no source as to where the Sanctum Imperialis is (the 40k wiki has non listed and seems to be more fan fiction than canon repository).
The offices of the inquistion are under the southern pole.
The Ecclesiarchal Palace covers most of the southernmost continent (australia?)
The Forbidden Fortress (base of the Adeptus Astronomica) is in the Himalayan mountain range.
The moon (Luna) has homes and laser defense platforms.
Mars is home to the forges of the techpriests of mars and orbiting it is the docks for battlefleet solar.
Jupiter is a forge world (well actually the forges orbit in a ring) producing emperor, tyrant and dominator class ships

There was old fluff that the Golden Throne was above Nottingham. I've never seen ANYTHING that suggests that the Palace was in North America.
In most of the HH books, the Imperial Palace complex stretches over what was once the Himalayas - the WHOLE region, including the foothills. The Imperial Palace 'complex' includes an awful lot of the places mentioned above in hs5ias's list. Remember, the Palace is not a single building, but a city complex the size of half of Asia. An awful lot of the servant staff seem to come from the Urals, Siberian Steppe
Other areas of earth are repeatedly mentioned in the HH books. It seems that, when the Emperor conquered Earth, he often merely demanded tribute from existing city-states, who had to swear fealty to him. This is shown most clearly in Tales of Heresy : Blood Games. Repeatedly mentioned states that still exist include
The Yndonesic Bloc (south east asia/australasia)
Hy Brasil (south america)
The Nordafrik Conclaves (north africa, mediterranean)
Zanzibar (where the Zanzibari Hort regiment are from)
Byzant (where the Byzant Janizars regiment are from)
Merica (north america)
and tons more. They also seem to have massively different cultures - the Yndonesic Bloc seem to practise what today would be called Eugenics, accoring to Zouche in Mechanicum.
The Palace complex includes the Golden Throne, which was constructed in the Imperial Dungeon (laboratory) near the webway gate. The Astronomican would be in the same complex, being as the Psykers are sacrificed in the presence of the Emperor, and he's currently sitting on the Golden Throne.

Neptune and Jupiter are the two main shipyards in the solar system.
The emperor's palace was cut out of the hamalayas, whether the palace spreads further than that, I don't know.
Mars is a super forgeworld, which has been divided between different purposes. These divisions are the size of continents and thus are given diffferent names. Automatically Appended Next Post: Each of these "continents" has a different leader.

Here's something about defences,truly impressive.
He [Ragnar] considered their approach. He knew that they had passed countless fleets and fortresses as they had swung in from the ultra-solar jump points. They had passed the armoured moons of Jupiter and the forge world of Mars. They had been subjected to hundreds of challenges and scans and they had been boarded twice. It had been a long drawn out process but it was only to be expected.
The world down there was better protected than any other in human history. There would not be a Second Battle of Earth if the terrible lords of the Imperium could help it. Even now the sky was filled with satellite fortresses; great weapon installations with enough firepower to destroy battle fleets. The whole of sublunar space was crowded with warships.
