THanks yall! Im actually rather unsatisfied with that head...Its at an interesting angle that made me really want to accentuate shadows in a way that i dont really ever paint...

You ever do that? where youre just like painting and then stop and go..what the F*ck am i doing?... lol....yeah so then i spent too much time fixing what i had done (perfectionist kevin)...anyways...like i said under 4 hours and its good enough

So i read the chapter tactics and it says, they can all take additional hand to hand weapons ... must be represented on the model. So question...should i add the combat knifes to the boot or no? Is it going to be too cluttered? Rule of cool? Just tell people the rule instead of wzywyg?

Gonna build a few more today...also no idea what to equip the sgt with...ideas??

Power sword bolt pistol is always solid.

You can trade bolter for ccw for free, or take an extra for points. Guess it still depends on what you are gunna run.

Nice Carcharodons !! I do agree with the suggestion of a darker shoulder pad somewhere...

As for the build, as WM360 said, it depends on what you aim for... But since usual Tac Marines can't have Bolter + BP + CCW, I think it'd be better if you had them on the models... Just to be sure your opponents know which models have "bolter only", "BP+CCW", or both !

As for the Sergeant... It seems Space Sharks love the brutal things, so that's PF or LC !!

Yeah well looks like i will not be adding the CCW to the marine models. They look too cluttered and it just doesnt make sense. I added two...to the model below and another to the SGT model i made, using PS and BP. Meh...Also, it would seem that im having some air brush trouble. I have a pretty cheap airbrush with theplastic nozzles, that really works more as a paint gun. I just have been using it to apply the dawnstone basecoat and a quick zenithal highlight of my lighter grey. But last night i was basing the next 3 and the paint was spraying out either not at all or really super speckly. I keep thinning and thinning and i dunno wtf was going on. I hate the damn contraption except it saves time. Im thinking maybe no matter how well you clean it, those plastic nozzles just dont last long? Anyone have experience with this tool? Again, its kinda a "fake" airbrush. plastic, with screw in nozzles.
Anyways, i thought i had kinda botched the next three, because of the speckly coat, but in all honesty, after i decided to "fix" one, it took a litttttle longer but nm, and it basically looks the same. (its "alot" more obvious below in the super zoomed in pic) They are so weathered as it is, but still, it kinda bothers me. And i need to fix this airbrush before i can proceed. >_< But heres some stuff...

Also, again, im following the codex colors for pretty much the most part, and for good reason. Im trying to go this route with the color scheme. That low visibility markings on aircraft vibe. None of the pageantry. like this:

Thanks guys! Glad they are going over pretty well. Except the bases. People seem pretty 50.50 about it. A guy in my LFGS was pretty adverse to them. But for the reason that they are too old school. Oh well. Heres the Sgt done. I built him with a PS and BP. This guy took about 5 hours but thats ok because of his sword. Im very pleased with the sword (i didnt do the bottom side to save some time) but i had a difficult time photographing it. The white made my iphone overexpose on it. Either way, i did a minor bit of osl on his hand and wrist that i will just adjust a tiny bit once the 2nd five are done. Ill go back and correct anything that bugs me on that batch. So im at 7 now. Almost a squad. I got 2 gunners and 1 plasma left to do. Heres the Sgt. Hope ya dig..

Looks pretty good. I see a bit of brown that is on his leg from the sheath. And is that a mold line! For shame.

Yeah, well im not going to get in there with a knife its too close to the armor. I stuck that knife on after building the model and thats what i get for being impatient. Coincidentally, i also dont like the knife blade to begin with an instantly regretted putting it on! lol. Sigh, what would i do without you whaley??

Yeah i kinda wanted the power sword to look kinda haloish? i guess...its my first power weapon for the most part, at least in 3 years haha...it came out nice. Real sharp..

Love the power weapon - really unique effect on it, and it looks like bubbles in water. Very fitting for the Sharks.

My one bit of advice would be to consider making the chest designs in metal. I think picking out the aquilas, belt 'buckles,' cables and other details in silver/black would really break up the monochrome look while still keeping them dark and subdued.

Glad you stuck with the green rims!

Love these models! I don't mind the knives on the leg personally, but you could always move them, putting them on the bolter itself or maybe on the belt? Or on the backpack?

Thanks guys! Haha yea, wow damo, it really does look like that. I guess i was kinda envisioning sparkles? or like globules of energy all amassing at the super bright tip of awesome energy force!! But bubbles is cool too Actually itd bea cool effect in red...for magma...some cool fantasy effects.
Im glad you guys like them! Pekel, thank you for the advice! Im actually surprised how many people have suggested that i do that. I love the fact that they are monocrome and they look great all in mass. Not bland at all. Im surprised more people dont agree Despite the good suggestions, Im gonna keep them this way. But ive some interesting ideas for chances at color explosion! And i still havent added the chapter decals. Does anyone know if you can PRINT out decals from your computer at home? On say a decal paper or something?

Yeah, you should be able to find some decal paper for home printing...I dabbled a bit with that about a dozen or so years back, so there should be some reasonable quality stuff available. From what I recall, the stuff I had just went through the printer, got a coat of varnish, then cut out and use as per normal decals.

I must remember the way you do chipping for when I (eventually) get round to painting the outside of my tank. It's the right kind of battered.
That's a fleck of dark (dark base colour or just black?) and then a highlight line underneath?

There's a variety of decal papers out there, plenty available on UK amzon so you should be able to find some easily enough....

Dr H. thats basically it, though lately, ive been doing the reverse and found its a tiny bit easier sometimes...it really just depends on the which color is strongest, the chip or the edge highlight...so in basically im going back in forth between the two...

Agreed...when painting chips like that I often find it's easier to leave a tiny sliver of the highlifgt showing than to actually paint the tiny sliver....but not always, although that's more likely down to my impatience with painting sometimes

Yeah, that makes sense. I do that with edge highlights.

I remember someone recently going though how they printed off a transfer with just the black outlines and then painting the reverse in order to get the colours right. I think it was Ramos, I could be wrong... Had some useful tips... would have been useful to remember that...

i want these in 28mm decal form and it seems complicated. Cant i just pay some one to do this for me?
