I have to say, I haven't been commenting enough in blogs the previous year and I've missed a lot of the minis you painted up but I have been following along again since you began with your Exodites.

Excellent work youwashock, some seriously stunning results from the year! Siubhan Marbhadh takes the cake for me personally

Wow. Thank you all so much. You are all far too kind. I greatly appreciate this response. And favorite blog, ListenToMeWarriors? I am flattered.

Looking to start the new year off at a run (with stumbling later, I am sure, possibly falling flat on my face) and having some extra time, I have jumped on the Blitz Bowl team like me on a pizza.

Was looking to Contrast these quickly, and I did. They are all painted and in the varnish/basing stage. Hope to have finished pics this week.

Thanks again, everyone. Thanks for looking!

That was an impressive haul of minis you finished last year! It was cool to see all of them again.
I really really like your distinctive paint style. Will eagerly look forward what you have in store for this year!

Glad you got the motivation back.
Sometimes it might be good to have a small break. Getting back to the hobby might feel even better after a pause.
I've not been very active on the writing side neither, but I've tried to do at least some painting regularly. Have not yet managed to do any this year though.

Glad to see you getting back into the painting saddle again. You’ve had a great year of painting and I’m sure 2021 will be even better.

That was an incredible litany of minis.
Optimus Prime stands out as a favorite. But, there are so many amazing figures there, it's hard to choose.

Thank you very much!

Well, that was a week, wasn't it? Sometimes I wonder if this is what going mad feels like...

Finally finished the bases for the Wood Elves and took those pictures.

Hope to have the first game soon. My friends have been working on their teams, as well. Good to have that energy in the group. More Exodites on their way. Thanks for looking!

Great start to the year ( for minis), I am always impressed with your color choices. These brawlers are quite the festive looking group.

Great work on those elves, love the snowy grass. And it's always good when other people are in this too, gives everyone a push to get stuff done. Hope you can get some games in soon!

Very nice work.

I have now found myself with a Chaos BB team to paint, just because my gaming buddies are into it

Is it Christmas again already!? Great looking bunch of helpers for Santa (I think you need a bearded Ogre to finish the team... maybe a December project )

The rest of the world was getting a bit worried last week! Hopefully things can settle down come 20 Jan 21, and then the Vaccination programmes can get us back to normal by Easter

Liking the color choice for these guys, not something you see every day.

It's cool to work on a project, team or a gang, when you have a group that works their own related project at the same time. Keeps up the motivation.

Thanks, guys. Appreciate the love. Sorry for the long silence. Life hasn't decided to chill. Wish it would.

FINALLY wrapped the first unit for the Exodites. Seemed to take forever. Made it hard to work. Just little bits of time snatched away until they were done. And here they are.

And the whole group.

With a friend.

The Reaper wanted to be in the shot, but nobody wanted to stand by her...

For a palette cleanser, I have decided to paint my Celtos minis. Had most of these for quite some time. Like, decades? Anyway, hope to paint them quick. Like everything. One day it will work out. BB Elves were sort of quick...I digress.

The one painted mini will be transferred to the base next to her. She was painted around 20 years ago, but I still like her so I won't be stripping her, just spiffing her base. Not a total re-paint step backwards. More sideways.

Also started an odd terrain project. I call it The Great MacGuffin. What is it? No idea. But I am pretty sure armies will kill to possess it. If I ever play a game with armies again.

It all started when I was peeling plex at work and sticking the backing sheets together. Ended up with this.

I thought, "you know, youwashock, you should totally make something out of that." I told myself no. I never listen to me. Glue gun engaged.

Layers. Will keep it up until it "feels" right. The plan is to have it appear to be floating above ground, all ominous and globular.

And last, but by no means least, my children painted their first minis. My son turned 7 this month, and his sister has waited patiently for him to be "old enough" so I could have them both try at once. Could hardly have the little guy sit out. Like he would stand for it. Still need to address the bases, but they had a good time and are anxious for more. BONES and the free minis from the local GW will be the rule of the day for a while.

My son painted the dragon and the beekeeper mouseling, my daughter the little wizard. I helper her a bit with the wash around the inside of the hood and mouth, but they did the rest. Here's hoping it is just the beginning.

So there it is. Should be more for how long it has been, but them's the breaks. Keep on plugging, stuff gets done eventually. Celtos, maybe that Judiciar, and building the test mini for the Exodite Wraithguard currently in the dugout. Thanks for looking!

Great job finishing the first house guard squad and congrats to your kids for finishing their first minis. Really cool for their first foray into painting, especially the glowing orb thingy on the left mouse.

Hey mate,

a really stunning return to form on this page. The Exodites are a very cool take on the concept; I love that they their own unique identity outside of caveman dinosaur space elves. They seem to blend right into their bases - very natural, which I think is thematic and fitting!

Good luck with the Celtos guys, having an extended break from a project and coming back with new eyes and ideas can often be just what the doctor ordered.

I really love the concept behind the ball too - that's what I think this hobby is all about and it's great to see the ball get rolling on something that will be undoubtedly be very cool.

Lovely to see the kids get involved and looks like a great start for both. Like Viterbi said, the swirly orb is really impressive - shows great brush control! Here's hoping you get to paint a lot more together in future - what an awesome bonding experience for you all.

Your year in review is an incredible list of achievements. The mottling on the coach's head and shoulders, the windows of Optimus Prime, the whole concept and execution of the Ghost Knight, the wendigo, the beholder's eyes, any time you've had to paint hair...what a year!

Sorry to hear about the struggles towards the back end, and glad you are on the mend again. It is tough when you no longer have time/space to find your groove, and I am the same in that productivity/motivation is a bit of a building blocks thing for me where it takes a long time to build up but can come tumbling down again quickly. When your creative output is part of your self image, any damage to it can reflect inward, and sometimes you look at that from the outside in and think, isn't it a bit ridiculous to feel frustrated or sad about this when I have all this other good stuff going on in my life, and then the guilt spiral kicks in and pretty soon you're in the hole. Anyway, don't want to bog your blog down (and sorry if none of my projecting applies to your situation! ), just wanted to say that you're not alone and it's impressive that you've managed to get kickstarted again so soon. Hope things continue to pick up for you man.

I really love the eclectic mix of minis and projects you put out here and it's always a blast watching you bring a model to life. Thanks for taking the time to share with us!

Those Exodites look great Youwashock. Would not worry to much about how many minis you get painted in a month you have 11 more months to catch up . Kids did a bang up job on the figs, seems they have inherited your artistic skills.

Ominous and globular? That's how I feel after a few too many Bugmans. Fun project, I'm getting brain coral vibes from it.

Exodites look rad, especially ranked up with the Zoat. It's great your kids are getting into it, the glow on the wizard's staff looks pretty good for any age!

Globular is a word used all too seldom

Those House Guard are lovely, and the bases really set them off! Is that just layers of thin cork?

Sorry that you are finding everything a push at the moment YWS, it will get better.

The first unit of Exodites look stunning, such inspired colour and parts choice so that they look a perfect fit for the faction.

The Celtos minis look like a fun project as does the terrain...I have no idea where that is going.

And finally congratulations on introducing the kids into the World of miniature painting, must've been hard keeping your daughter patient enough to keep interested. They have both done great, top parenting Sir!

Thank you all very much, on behalf of myself and the kiddos.

Slinky, yes. The bases are just layers of thin cork. Then painted, burnt umber in this case, then a coat of Martian Ironcrust, at which point Army painter tufts are set in. Last step is the homemade baking soda/glue/white paint snow mix.

Good to see you've wrapped up the house guard, they look amazing.

Also keen to see what the the ball will become, a world spirit maybe?

Great job by your kids too, the orb looks sweet, as does the dragon's eye!

Your kids seem to be natural painters. I wonder whom they have to thank for that

Really interested about that ball. The greatest terrain pieces usually come out of random objects with the idea "I could make something weird out of this".

Loving the Exodites. The colours, poses, just about everything about them is fascinating, and that's a good thing to achieve with a model, I think.
