Noble713 wrote:I just watched Damnatus last night (apparently it was "leaked", you can find it on torrents with English subtitles). It's surprisingly good, and suffers only from abysmal special effects. Good plot, decent acting, and true to the Grimdark 40k background. Even the costumes are pretty good.
Yeah, its a real shame GW had to kill it officialy (something to do with German Copyright laws that forbid the "giving up" of ownership or something. Translated to normal people language it means: "ZOMG if we ever want to sell this we have to PAY THEM? Sod that!")

Persians are not worthy Opponents for Ultramarines. It needs to be an Army Of Avatars, or Greater Daemons, and each ultramarine kills 708 of them each before breakfast

GW wouldn't know how to make a good movie.
Most of the studios wouldn't know how to handle it. They'd give it to a genre producer/diretor and make a ham-fisted stab at it. Most of them wouldn't know a space marine from their posterior sphincter.
Moving to another country if the movie was made by Uwe Boll wouldn't help unless that country has forbidden his movies to be shown (and then you wouldn't see a lot more movies as well)

I hate Zack Snyder.
But I liked Watchmen.
If there were to be a 40k movie, I wouldn't want to see it as a 300 styled gorefest. I wouldn't mind seeing the Horus Heresy done up, or the Battle of Rynn's World, or hell the Damocles Gulf Crusade would even be an interesting way to start off the movie franchise.
Or maybe the 13th Black Crusade, who knows!
There's quite a few instances where we've had multiple armies converging for battle, and we could go from there.

Yup, Armageddon is just waiting to be turned into a Movie.
I can really see the movie follow a regular Guardsmen (perhaps even a Whitestripe), starting with a flashback/dream about the previous invasion only to be interrupted by the shouts of the Sarge (ORKS!!!!!!).
After some some glorious battle we are introduced to some of the heroes , mainly Commissar Yarrick; We then see the entire company hold the hive from the Waaagh and culminate with the Yarrick/Ugulhard duel after which the SPESS MARINES arrive and the movie changes partially the focus on them (say the last 30 minutes of the movie or so) so that people can get close enough to them to set them up for movie #2 (space marines movie).
The whole army feeling would probably be easier to pull off at the box office than the elite uberhuman spess marines, and once hooked up, people will follow when they are introduced.
Yeah...

Yeah...
We'll follow it with Hive Fleet Behemoth. Now for the Epic Struggle at the polar fortress. Let's show those Starship Trooper script writers and photographers how it's done.
Then either 3rd War for Armegeddon or Damocles Gulf Crusade.

Jealous that Horus is Warmaster
|
My question is if there was a movie, (we all know it would star the Ultramarines) who would best fit the roles?
Thought about it while bored at work and here were some thoughts.
Marneus Calgar = Sean Connery. Beause he has that wise leader type look.
Space marine squad = any badass from previous action flicks, examples: gerrard butler, dolph lundgren, the rock etc. etc.
Screaming space marine sergeant = Sammuel L Jackson. Because a) he will be in any movie he can, including this one. b)hes almost always yelling and c) i can already picture the scene "i want these motherfething nids off this motherfething planet"
anyone else?

What a way to make a high budge B movie. Sean Connery retired years ago (besides that he is like almost 80), Sam Jackson seems like a far fetch for any serious movie after Snakes on a Pain. It would be best left to British unknown (in the US at least) actors.

Yeah... alas Sean dosn't amkes movies like Highlander anymore...
I dunno, I could see as a cameo joke having Jackson saying something like that. But it'd have to be a Commisar Cain movie at that point.
No, we want Perter Jackson and Stephen Spielberg on this one. I want the first 20 min of Saving Private Ryan meets Helms Deep. And that's probably half the movie right there, actually...

Okay, I skipped from 3-6 so I apologize to anyone whoalready said this.
Movie idea. Follows an ignorant boy chosen from agriculture world drafted to become a psyker. Through this you can introduce the world to everybody while showing how grim it is, and how curropting the warp is. He struggles with chaos trying to turn him while learning his powers. Eventually he overcomes some Chaos dude in the end while avoiding dark eldar pirates, orks raids on his home planet, and realizing how screwed up the imperium is, all the while just wanting to go back home and be a farm boy.

Personally i hate the idea of a 40k movie, it would turn our niche hobby into a fad that every 6-10 year old baffoon would want his parents to buy for him.
Forums would be overrun, FLGS would be swarmed and there would be no stock left for the true players to buy...
Basicly the worst parts of the bible.
