This thread has inspired me to stop lurking and actually post (if that counts for anything).

Excellent work, one of the best 'all grot' armies I've seen online.

I particularly like the innovative use of parts on the warbuggies, and that you went to the effort to make destroyed markers for your kans! Not only do they look great, but they are extremely practical when gaming (double win).

Look forward to updates.

Kan wall is looking great, and I love the markers! As for the negative feedback: it's your cash, and your choice IMO, not to mention that £2.70 per marker is pretty good price. Nice work!

yeah,
Thanx guys!
Welcome to Dakka Bishop.

---

So today I had a little tidy up of my paint area to make way for some construction.
I've had a poke around at where I'm at.
I've used up all my heavies and fast attack slots. I have one troops, one HQ and two elites slots left.
I think these are the next projects.
Although this order isn't set in stone.

  • HQ 2nd Mek with KFF
  • HQ Mek with Shock Attack Gun
  • HQ WarBoss
  • Elites GrotTanks
  • Elites Burnas/Lootas
  • Elites The next 5 mega grots
  • Friendly game only 2x MegaDreads!

  • I also need to paint maybe 10 or 20 more grots and make more herders :(
Although I have two WHFB squighoppers that will make fun herders

    ---

    Parts and Ideas!

I bought 2 of the FW show only runtbots to convert into HQ choices.
1st RuntBot as MegaArmoured WarGrotBoss... easy!
2nd RuntBot converted into a dog stance with a ShockAttack Gun mounted on it's back... a bit like the KrootOx... crawling with grots.

I also have the Tau bits left over to make the second Mek with KFF

GRotTanks <- probabily the most fun project.

The only problem is all the FW guns look rubbish.
    I'll magnatise these options...
I'll make barrels that look like regular tank cannons for the rocket option.
    Big shootas
And barrels with hoppers for GrotZookas.
    I have 8 and I want 10...
I found these imperial tanks and bits in my bitsBox.. they have volunteered to join the grot rebel horde

I have a LemanRuss a HellHound two Sentinals and a basilisk...

I should have enough bits left over from the imperial scrap to help with the next project.
    MegaDreads x 2
I have 1FW megaDread with killKannon and Claw plus a extra KillKannon and a a pile of guns a friend gave me.
I'm basically looking at ways to make the parts stretch to two dreads.
I was thinking of giveing one mega dread a pair of skates made from grot tank tracks?

This is roughly the plan... Should make for a fun few months!
It'll probabily be a week or so before I have anything new worth showing...
    Panic...

Batrep was a good read, shame the grots didn't make it; I recently used my grot revolution in a tournament, and I found my battlewagons to be invaluable for transporting meganobz, for drawing a lot of fire and for their defrollaz. Death or glory is vs front AV14, so even dreads tend to beware- and opposing nobz tend to get squished

To get to my point: will you be adding battlewagons to this force, or will it remain cheap and cheerful?

    yeah,
So I did a bit of playing around today making a GrotMek with SAG.
The idea is a walking gun platform.
I'm using a FW runtbot body with a old metal SAG plus cut down sentinel legs.
These are mock ups most parts are held in place with bluetac.
The sentinel legs seem too big and I'm looking for an alternative.

    Gun on top??

or to reduce the size make the body count as the gun and just mount the spinny bit on front??

The main problem is size, the runt bot is pretty big.
A ork Big Mek goes on a 40mm base... I've had a go at extending the 40mm base.
I could break the rules and mount him on a 60mm base.

It's supposed to counts as a Big Ork holding a Big Gun...
But it looks a bit too big...

What do you think is the model too big for what it counts as?
Should I up the base size to 60mm?

Looks really cool. Now you need to add 6-12 more grots to it to make it look swarmed with grots.

I like the Runt Bot, I may end up buying £50 worth of FW stuff just to get one for myself.

It's a bit big, I say break the rules. Or come up with another design for it.

    6 foot underwater

I'm favouring the one with the spinny gubins as a head Think if you could find some slightly smaller legs it'll work with an extended base. Killa kan limbs? Although they're probably not much smaller than the cut-down senty. You could glue the feet, or maybe smaller ones, directly to the base of the leg, removing the ball joint yo lose a bit more?

I think the SAG bit as a head is the better option for what it counts as, but with the grot with a flamer it definitely looks more like a kan.

If you are making more than one, just make the others smaller or without the grot and call that one the boss. The grot can count as the boss poll.

I really like the sentinel legs like that, they look much more powerful.

    yeah,
Ok resurrecting the blog for a little bit! I just went to PD3 and took the Grots again... --Report--> here.
At 1500pts I was in need of a second GrotMek to gain access to the second 'counts as troops' Dred.
And away we go. The idea is still mad grot mek similar to the tau walking Grot mek v1 (RIP) but with more a robotic feel to it.

First up I was eager to play around with my new cable tool from MasQ-Mini.
I used the larges size tool and made some fat cabling.

Before it set I squished it to achieve a square ribbed effect, I also squished the ends more to taper them down, so they fit some grabba claws
I rolled a paper clip into the green stuff so the final product would be stronger than GS and bent into shape and left to cure.

    next up is the body.
the tracks are from Kromlech/maximni and the body is a chaos tank cupola with the cover placed below the ring.
the side bits are the doom siren mount. the robo arms will attach here... everything pined.

the MekPilot is the FW grot that controlled the RuntxBot.
The wires on the back of this were a pain in the arse, that's actual blood on the the back pack from a bit of guitar wire shooting out from it's place and piercing my finger
(nobody can say I don't put blood sweat and tears into this project!) I should have used the small cable tool, but i need more practice with it, plus sometimes the haphazard effect you get bending thin guitar wire is cool too!

Ok lets start to get this together!
the other bits I've added are claws from runt herders and metal cable bits from the metal killa kan sprue.

    Pins. Pins everywhere!

and with KFF producing Radar dishes attached! - these are from the OOP imperial tank accessory sprue. I used all my supply of this bit up on the other GrotMeks KFF
NotProp and ArbitorIan supplied these radar dishes, Big Thanx Guys.

So there you have it... Danger Will Robinson! Paint soon.

    Panic...
