Meh, a very uninspiring model. 2nd ed had a lot that captivated my interest in nids, especially the gigerish hormagaunts. Oh and 2nd ed lictors looked great!

The model is my Favorite Lictor Ever. But the stupid thing needs to stop falling out of trees and tripping over rocks when it ambushes things just to lose it's remaining wound to a rifle butt.

I think the extra tentacle isn't cropped out, it's just that the Codex has been photoshopped to appear between it's tentacles and so naturally one of them has to be "behind" the codex. It's hard to tell because, obviously, white on white background and all.

I only bought the Lictor for the model, and then discover that it can only be given the least dynamic pose possible. I tried to convert it to look like it was stealthing about. Despite all the super-glue and GS, he breaks the next day.

As far as those rumored names go for the new 'nids, yes they're a bit uncreative. But do remember that the Tyranids don't name themselves, the names come from an Imperial point of view, normally these are names that are used by IG and SM forces to tell what creature they're dealing with. I would imagine that the average guardsman isn't a very creative sort. Not too fond of the names myself, but a different perspective makes them a bit more tolerable.

What plastics appear to be coming for Tyranids in January? I've heard Hive Tyrant and Gargoyles discussed as good candidates for plastic this time around, but no solid leads on it though. Anyone else have anything?

I think Alessio at GD Italy hinted very strongly at there being no plastic tyrant. IIRC he said something to the effect that if you want a new tyrant get it from Forgeworld.

Yeah it's certainly not new, but his statement is not an indication that FW are doing a new tyrant kit. He just means that if you want a tyrant different from the current metal one, get one of the resin kits from FW.
And on a related note, has FW ever discontinued a resin kit and replaced it with a different one? I know they've dropped resin kits as the main GW line picked them up as plastic (piranhas, drop pods etc).

That's a matter of opinion, I absolutely adore the FW flying Tyrant models. In fact, I think the current GW Tyrant looks more Daemon than 'Nid, I converted mine with a 'Fex head crest to make it fit in better.

I like the FW flyrant, but I haven't bought it because I don't really want to deal with a 12" wingspan. I'd rather they included the option for folded wings.

Of course it's a "matter of opinion." What else would it be? What you said was "a matter of opinion." The current Hive Tyrant is inline with how the current Fex looks. The last editions of both models looked like a grab bag of Tyranid-ish parts and the result turned out to be two ugly models. The current models look so much better in so many ways. That being said, the FW Hive Tyrant is distinctly based off of the old GW Hive Tyrant. FW made their Hive Tyrant models as close to the actual GW model as they could and then took advantage of resin. It's an ugly model because it's directly based off of an ugly model. How do you get daemon out of it? It looks nothing like a daemon. At least not any GW daemons. Then you tell me you used the model that looks most like a Hive Tyrant to convert said Hive Tyrant so it doesn't look like a daemon? What daemons are you talking about? --Space reserved for more posting--- Section 2: Arschbombe wrote: Yeah it's certainly not new, but his statement is not an indication that FW are doing a new tyrant kit. I don't think that FW is making a new Tyrant model or that what he said was a hint to a new Tyrant model. I though the "Note:" made that very clear. However, just buying any new Tyrant would do what he said so why even say it other than because he just couldn't say 'no new Tyrant.' Now, FW has made stuff for the current Fex. It would make since that they start making stuff for the current Tyrant or make a new Tyrant because the old one is based off that ugly GW one. So it's ugly by association. I don't think FW is making a new Tyranid model right now but it would make since to make at least one down the line to go with the new codex and model release. If they make anything I hope it would be to make a new Tyrant so that it's inline with the current GW model just a lot better looking. They could just as easily make one of the other models or even one of the new ones. A FW Broodlord would be awesome. But FW policy is to make a new model if they break a mold so if one of the Tyrant molds broke then they would probably redo the entire line. That's the only real way we would see a new Tyranid model and it's very unlikely. Arschbombe wrote: And on a related note, has FW ever discontinued a resin kit and replaced it with a different one? I know they've dropped resin kits as the main GW line picked them up as plastic (piranhas, drop pods etc).
There is only one mold for each FW model. They don't sell enough to make multiple molds. A vast majority of the GW molds only have one mold. Only the popular ones have multiple molds like Tac squads and basic Orks. It has to be a VERY popular army and the unit has to be the core choice in said army and everyone probably fields 3 or 4 boxes of said unit in every game. That being said, if a FW mold breaks or they make a new model they stop production on the current model. They don't remake the mold and just make new models. They have retired some old models and made new ones but I think their molds broke or something. I know some Super Heavy Eldar tank got a new model because the old mold broke.

'I think it looks ugly' vs 'It is ugly'. But let's not argue semantics...

Eastern style daemons mostly. The upright posture, bonesword (which I know is optional, but still) and huge headblade make it look less 'Niddy IMO. I've converted mine like this one (that one is Gunstar's, but it's the same conversion).

Yeah I think the conversion is genious in its simplicity, but really helps tie in the Tyrant's looks with the rest of the 'Nids.
Also, The Dude on Warseer mentioned the Toxathrope is actually called the Venomthrope in English. Toxathrope is most likely the German translation. Pyrovore stays though.

It better be a MC, have 4 Venom cannons, 3 base attacks and a BS of 4. That's the only way it will be worth the name. Thats a crappy translation too because venom, toxin and poison are different things. I would think the Germans would have different words for these things instead of just one generic one.
