I think it would be in metal - It looks so insanely convoluted to create, GW would have to make it metal for the sheer hate it would generate.
All said, I'm not a Nids player, so I don't mind too much. However, I am afraid of that indirect firing Nid - that's all I need to really ruin my day as Chaos or Space Wolves - good shooting to go with overwhelming assault.

Here is a much clearer picture of the Unknown Tyranid. After doing all the work to get it outlined as best as I could I have come to the conclusion that GW has shopped part of it out. Mainly the "arms" as you can see where one just ends off in space and another is making a very unrealistic hook. I think the original picture was taken on a white background and the shopper had a hard time discerning the difference between the background the and actual model.
For assembly it looks like its long tentacles can be bent to touch the base or even the ground. This would provide it a lot more stability and not look like a "Wacky-waving-inflatable-arm-flailing-tube-man!"
Overall, this is a horrible picture in several ways. It is the same color as the background and as a result part of it was mistakenly shopped out. Then, GW decided that you can only cover up so much of the new codex cover so they stamped that over another part of the model. It is at a bad angle and you can't really tell what it has or doesn't have because no one really knows what they are looking at. There needs to be multiple pictures.
Here is the paint-by-numbers breakdown of the model. The black lines are there to show where I think one "arm" ends and another begins.
Blue: Head with Feeder Tendrils. Nothing real exciting here but the head looks about the size of the head for the last edition Lictor. So you can use it to approximate the size if you care enough. I do not.
Red: Core Body and Tail. Nothing special here either.
Purple: "Arms". I can only count four "arm" type things. All Tyranids have six limbs. It is entirely possible that the other two are in a form of atrophy. Another problem here is that the original picture is mission part of the "arms". The left black line might actually be one arm but the gakky shop job they did cut it so it looks like two. If this is not the case then there are five "arms" in this picture so they shopped out the most of the missing final two "arms". Go GW.
Orange: Tyranid Smoke Stacks. Nothing that special here except that every Codex Tyranid with these smoke stacks also has, by default or can upgrade to, Toxic Miasma.
Light Green: Warp Tuning Forks. I have no idea what these are so that is what I'm calling them. At first glance it looks like they go up the side of the smoke stacks but if you look at the closer one then you see that it sticks out into the air. I have no clue what they do but they are probably related to how the creature commands and controls warp energy. This gland could do anything from negating Perils of the Warp to making a bubble that makes it harder for enemy's to pass psychic tests in general or without getting hurt. I think that whatever this is is going to be the main reason someone will be taking this Tyranid. I base my openion on absolutely nothing.
Yellow: I don't know what this is either. It looks like the same type of stuff the Malathrope has so it's probably that. It could also be the missing final two "arms".
Green: This is probably nothing but it just seemed to stand out a little to much. This is another candidate for the missing two "arms" because it is in the general location of the Zoanthropes final two limbs. If it is the final two then it is atrophy is its highest form.
As far as base stat-line goes I would say it's something close to this:
WS 4
BS 3
S 4
T 4
A 2+2, 2 or 3
I 4
W 2
Ld 10
Sv 2+/6+
And abilities will be something like this:
Feeder Tendrils
Toxic Miasma or a new type of Miasma (possibly affecting I)
Three psychic powers with one being Warp Field by default
Warp Tuning Fork
Two or four Lash Wipes that stack
and Poison, Instant death or both
GW is passing the savings onto youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

haha, be honest. it sucks.
Yeah, thanks for that Kwosge - but i cant see what they could have photoshopped out? Pehaps the arms are joined together, like the Harridan for example. there doesnt seem to be any atrophied legs there anywhere, unless they're linked into those "tuning forks" thingies?
After seeing that image, i kinda like it a bit better. It will be interesting to see where GW goes with the Pyrovore..
For that matter, any news regarding the pyrovores size? I was a assuming it to just be a Biovore sized thing, but i've heard that its more artillery than the biovore. (no source and dont quote me, BOLS im looking at you)
It would be great to see some tank killing potential if it was the size of a carnifex...

Really, it's not that bad. Cut the vents down a little, reposition the whips/tentacles a bit and give the feeder tendrils some droop and it'd be just fine.

Personaly..... i hate it. It honestly look like the digestion pools puked it out and some how all the little nid bits stuck together and came alive......Frankinnid....hmmm...
Most likely a minor psychic with a debilitating affect like The Horror(or whatever it is called, im not a nid player). weak in cc. deffinetly a support role in the army. Definetly feeder tendrils or maybe a psychic variant.

I like the model. I think it fits in nicely with the existing range and if the model is large then so much the better. The other thing I like is that I'm not planning to expand my Tyranid army any time soon, so that should allow me to save money for something else cool later in the year.
