Hey Fellows!
Its update time, though no actual model pictures but this update is more to give you guys a general idea of where i am headed with my dark eldar army i have started
Like i said in my last post my dark eldar cabal is based on the idea that they are beasthunters and the archon wants to gather as much dangerous beasts and creatures as possible so my list will be heavy on beasts, scourges, wracks, grotesques, haemoculi, talos and chronos engines.
Since i want a unique army and there are no models for just about anything i want in my army i will try to kitbash and make most of it myself and seek inspiration from movies and videogames. I have already found some inspiration for the wracks, grotesques and some of the beasts.
I have always hated and feared but at the same time loved and had a strange fascination for things that transform people into hideous mockeries of themselves like john carpenters The Thing, The necromorphs from Dead Space and the creature From the movie Splinter so that is what im gonna base my wracks and grotesques on but with a dark eldar twist of course
Here are some pictures to show those of you that doesnt know what im talking about an idea:
Also heres is another idea i had for my grotesques:
What do you guys think?
And here are some pictures of what im gonna use for my clawed fiends, a real tribute to one of the coolest movie monsters ever
As for the Scourges they wil be based on the artwork in the book.
One thing i have no idea whatsoever how to do is the razorwing flocks and i dont want to use bats or birds or anything like that, it has to be something more alien so any ideas on that would be greatly appriciated.
My reaverjetbikes will be represented by some kind of flying beasts, but i have not yet figured out what to base them on and the same goes for my incubi, i want them to either look like the cenobites from Hellraiser or the Apostles of darkness From Rackhams range but they are a bit to much fantasy for my taste but the concept is cool
I am also gonna make a court for my archon even though they are not that great gamewise, i have all the parts i need for them so i just have to put them together so expect pics on them soon.
All ideas are apreiciated so if theres anything cool you guys think that i have missed let me know.

Sounds like it can be quite awesome really!
Happy to see that I'm not the only one who digs the critters.
Got a pile of these they are quite small since they are for 15mm and to be quite tiny even there but for minor ones on bases etc I think they could work for you. they are from khurasan miniatures.

I have/work on these: Army and SOG of and a tiny group of (killzone) and some and last some and a gang of Cryx + Others...

Impressive. That´s just impressive.
Your Talos is looking really good, and your concepts for your army are awesome. The creature from Castlevania looks pretty grotesque too. Cute thing.
Good luck.

Wow...the Talos actually freaks me out.
I like Archon Squid Face and his true born too....good use of corsair cloaks.
I had my first game against Dark Eldar last night and was annihilated. Foot Eldar vs a Wych Cult with +1 Strength combat drugs and they stole the initiative. Clawed Fiends made mince meat of anything they got in combat with. About 15 deep striking hellion made my Dark Reapers unhappy bunnies and I now despise reaper jetbike blade vanes and caltrops. It was a fun game and I learnt the hard way just how quick Dark Eldar can be.

Thanks guys for all the kind replies glad i got your approval for where this army is headed really glad you like the talos to, to hear that a model you made freaks someone out is a really good sign
Ill be glad to let you guys know that my first wrack prototype is ready for some greenstuff to, i had two hours this evening to work on him so expect some pics tomorrow afternoon
PDH: hehe yeah they are quite fast arent they, just wait til you face someone with a full pack of razorwing swarms, thats 60 attacks on the charge with rending, just ask Q0rbin what he thinks about them and reavers are really nice to, i had a bunch of them that sliced a daemonprince to death
Blambi: those small critters are awsome! I might just have to order me some of those
Well guys like a said, tune in tomorrow to see the necrowrack prototype and i still want to hear some ideas for the razorwing swarms so keep the comments flowing

Razorwing swarms has very long beards and very hard to crack. But to get rid off them just add water or a vindicator.

I have no idea how those razorwings are supposed to look like but the first thought that pops in to my mind is to make something more ore less biomechanical or purely mechanical. A biomechanical wasp from hell or something. And then I came to think of a flyer from Quake II and "man hacks" from Half Life.
I'm sorry I couldn't find any better images but its a Quake II flyer and if you want to go biotech something like this might do it. I think this could be a cool concept as it is, but perhaps a more insect like approach would suit your army better...
But If you want a more mechanical approach I thought something along this line, namely Half Life 2 "Man Hacks". Personally I think this is a kinda cool idea, to have a bunch of mechanical nasties to release at your enemies as they try to get away. Nasty and demoralizing, a mechanical flying blood hound, relentless in it's pursuit...

I like your mid nors, it's a shame we stopped playing confrontation....
As for your razor wings, how about something similar to the creatures in pitch black? They come in swarms, they can fly, they are scary and nasty and have a big appetite for anything that moves...

Its a shame they went down the prepainted path. I wonder what went on in their minds when they decided to quit making some if the coolest minis around, ditching a superb gamingsystem just to start making mediocre, prepainted junk. I don't know much of the new rules but it seems to me like they were trying to compete with GW, big armies instead of small battle groups. Madness, madness I tells ya!!!
I'm excited about the sculp anyway!

Yeah who knows but apparantly it wasnt their fault, you can read the story here and when you do you cant help but feel sad for them, http://bluetablepainting.blogspot.com/2010/05/story-of-rackham-and-confrontation.html.
Oh and by the way gsmemaniacs.se still has alot of the dwarfmodels for half the usual price if you are interested C0unt!
And on an update note i havent got much done due to being sick and valentines day but now i think things will start happening

That really is a sad story , I already knew much of it from what I've read at Tabletopgamingnews.com back in the days. But it did shed some new light on the matter.
I've been thinking of buying some, but it feels rather pointless now when no one plays Confrontation anymore. I believe I asked Q0rbin if he would start playing if I GAVE him his Dirtz back (which I bought from him and since then added some quite pricey stuff), but he wouldn't. Of course, I understand why, I mean building one army is time consuming enough, to play a handful of games thus building a handful of armies/battlegroups/gangs/whatnot is a project no one sooner than your grandchildren might see through (well, that's what it feels like right now)... To get to the point I really really love the models, Like Fulgur or the Thremopriest on razorback, but spending a lot of cash (money I really don't have since me and Ida are going to buy our apartment) on minis that will just gather dust seems like a bad investment. Especially since I still have to spend some serious money on minis that I will actually use...
Tough luck friend, sick on valentines day (or was it perhaps out of convenience, "honey I'm too sick to buy flowers and chocolate this year", hehe). Anyway, I hope you get well soon, I sure want to see that sculp!

So please guys lets the ideas flow!

For stormboyz, i think some kind of fly-ork-hybrid thing, or maybe smaller versions of the blight drone
and the dreads, why have kans and dreads when you can have trolls?
I made some technotrolls recently and they turned out ok, just mixed the swamp trolls with some sentinel and ork bits and it worked out fine, and with the big bellies and the hunched over appearance i think they will look nurgly with some of you excellent convertions
Godd to see that your back by the way

it feels good to be back =)
the stormboy fly idea had crossed my mind before but the hard part is finding flywings for them, do you know any manufacturer that makes large fly miniatures? as for the dreads im sorry to say that trolls just dont cut is as they are to weedy to act as a dread and i am already planning to make my meganobz out of rivertrolls, but thanks for the suggestion m8 and keep the ideas rolling! any chances of getting some pics of those trolls you made though? it sounded like an excellent conversion that i might draw some inspiration from
