As the skull is so obviously not real, I'd paint it metallic.

Well its about the only thing we do well anymore, everything else is just a exercise in mediocrity.

As for the skull, how about going with a charred skull with the blue flames coming from the sockets. It would add a better contrast to the blue imo.

Time for some randoms methinks. They are all a bit old, but I still quite like them

-Lennysmash, I think I might have a go at charring the skull
-Blackhand, You are welcome!
-Fifty, I was going to do the skull silver but the I realized that all the chaplains had bone coloured helmets. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

After my stupid PSAT's tomorrow, I'm going to get right on painting your commander's cape, and attempting to highlight the DC (no promises, I have space wolves grey as my only grey color)

Trying to plan out where to put the other half of the crashed Valkyrie. Then I realised that I had already made some scenery with a crater in, with a bit of modification it could fit right in. What do you think?

Can you ever have to much 40k? NO

Oh and before I forget, I don't suppose anyone has any spare marine helmets kicking that they would be willing to 'donate'?

Yeah, I was thinking of taking a larger chunk out of the front building. The crater was originally intended to be a laser burn. Any ideas on how to paint that pink polystrene? (besides with a brush )

never painted that poly before... i am not sure if you have to seal it up first... so it doesn't soak the paint up like a sponge. and then a spray coat or two, and yes some dry brush for effect/detail.

I shall try ceiling paint on it, I suppose it might have better coverage than normal acrylic.

yeah you may have to primer seal it first..... i don't know, my experience with those kinds of materials, is you really have to prep it before you actually start the "painting"

Some primer should not be too hard to find in this household, we are constantly re-painting! All I know about polystrene is that you never spray it, unless you want a melted blob that is.

even after a seal??? like i've said i've never painted much of anything out a styrene or styrofome etc etc... its all too easy to ruin your work by putting on the wrong kinda paint and having it all melt to mush.... but when done right, it always looks great!!

if ypu seal it with something like watered dowm wood glue you should be fine. OR you can use krylon H2O primer which is spose to be foam safe

And btw love the death jester and the doomwheel! They look great

I always use any color latex paint. I make alot of my own scenery for D&D and 40k. Once you carve the Pink polystrene to shape, you can dip a 1" paint brush in paint thinner and just lightly run it over the surface to make it more rock or earth like. Then I use a throw away brush to paint on a heavy coat of latex paint, that will seal it. you should be able to use Acrylic, oil and even spray paint. Tho I havent used every brand. I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the tips guys!

I have been trying to find a suitable 1st company leader for my BA. I think this might be the guy

Of course, he will need a new head and some of the symbols removing. But apart from that, he screams Blood Angel to me!
